A few white lies and a couple of pretend kisses never hurt anyone, right?
Seventeen-year-old Magnolia Graham just got her heart thrown in a blender. Or at least, that’s what it felt like when her star quarterback boyfriend dumped her. And she’s been ousted from the uber-exclusive inner circle of popular girls in school. There's only so much drama one ex-geeky, Chewbacca fan-girl can take in one day.
She needs to find a way to put out the fires—fast.
Everyone knows that the best way to get over a breakup is with a hookup—a fake hookup, that is. Enter Kellen, football wunderkind with lip gloss-melting good looks, and newly single after also being dumped. When Magnolia, asks Kellen to be her fake boyfriend, he’s down for the sham.
Only one problem... Magnolia’s been in love with Kellen all her life—and he's got absolutely no idea. Somewhere between the innocent hand-holding and breath-stealing kisses, lines become blurred and Magnolia realizes the true meaning of the hashtag #ItsComplicated.
What a great read. Magnolia, Mags as she likes to be called has just been dumped by her boyfriend. That is making her crazy. She never saw it coming and she is feeling broken. That gets her removed from the most popular list of friends and suddenly her life seems meaningless. So she goes back to her old table and back to her old friend. There she and her old BFF make a plan.
They pick Kellen, her old childhood friend, and the star of the football team, as the fake boyfriend that will make her look like she has not been dumped and reduced in popularity. After all he just got dumped too.
The story is fun, yet tender. I loved Mags and I loved Kellen even that one time he behaved like a jerk. Every fake relationship has its ups and downs, doesn't it? The story was so alive with emotion and how a young girl feels when her heart is in turmoil. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really liked this book and highly recommend it. It has the best characters., both quirky and adorable.
This was such a good book. There were so many things going on in this story. I loved the tension and the uncertainty. I like Evelyn Rosado's books. This is my second by her and she blows me away each time.
The end is so unexpected and so beautifully written. I enjoyed this book so much!
2.5 Stars Started off great but the ending just kind of fizzled out. Also, the two main characters didn’t have that great of chemistry. But I was entertained throughout the book and I loved all the “nerd” references.
I don't understand the name of this book at all. Why should Magnolia be running back to Kellen?
First of all I love Magnolia's old self she has some spunk that was hilarious and I like Justine as well, but that's it.
The things I didn't like: Kellen was a flat character, I liked Micah more or knew more about him, he was more lively that is for sure. Then we have the fact that Magnolia was always asking "what she had done wrong?" to her boyfriends a the time that they wanted to break up with her, that was pathetic and even if she defended herself sometimes most of the times she was crying mess.
Then there were parts of the plot that didn't flow at all. We have Kellen declaring his love for Mags standing up to Mackenzie because she had blackmailed him then Micah tells the secret and then Mackenzie is APOLOGIZING and Kellen seems confused and frustrated, asking if it is true, I mean what does it matter, Mackenzie has been blackmailing him, that is a deal breaker so..... all those reactions are way off after the shit that Mackenzie has being putting him through. Like this, there were other reactions that were so contradictory, it confused me at times.
Poor Kellen sometimes it amazes me how little information some people have access to, how can Kellen didn't knew he was dyslexic and nobody gave him the help he needed, sadly this book doesn't approach this subject, it just treats it lightly.
The end sucked, Magnolia reversed to who she used to be but it was obvious that she was wary about it even though in her thoughts she said she was glad to stop pretending..... really all her thoughts and actions didn't matched at all.
The best scene was the Homecoming dance, so much fun!
Started off OK - didn't work at all fir me in the end
This story didn't work at all for me for many reasons. The main one? Kellen was a douche. This kind of story usually work mainly because of the chemistry and unresolved tension between the two non-couple people. In this book there was none of that that I could feel. Also, Kellen wasn't sweet, or cute or nice. He was just a really bad friend IMO. None of his reasons for being so was OK, or understandable at all. The most interesting character was Micah...and he wasn't even really part of the story at all. So, no it was not a good read for me.
I don't get how this book was rated highly recommended when it's too amateurish and the female was weak and pathetic. Two guys just mistreated her. One who dumped her and the other who she helped went back to his girlfriend. Then the last chapter they got back together. I am not much into a bullying and weak/pathetic female. There was nothing great about the plot. I couldn't connect with the characters. I don't recommend this book. Too immature and weak female. The HE A was unrealistic and rush.
I got this book off kindle unlimited and have to say it was a joy to read, I have found another author to love! When reading this book I found it funny, enjoyable and it even gave me a tear. Magnolia or Mags as she likes to be called, gets dumped by her boyfriend, she never saw it coming and is heartbroken. It also gets her removed from the popular crowd and friends, suddenly her life seems meaningless. When she finds her old friend and there old table it’s there she and her old bff make a plan. Kellen is her old childhood friend, he’s the star of the football team, he’s the fake boyfriend that will make her look like she hasn’t been dumped and reduced in popularity, after all he’s just been dumped aswell. As the line blurs between kellen and mags, will there plan work? As I said before I love how this story is written, it was such a easy read that I read it within a couple hours. This story is fun and tender, i loved mags a Keller, every relationship has it’s up’s and downs doesn’t it? How a young girl feels when her heart is in turmoil, the story was so alive with emotion. I highly recommend this book, it as great characters both quirky and adorable.
This book is okay- but there are definitely some negatives
Whilst I didn't mind the actual story itself I couldn't help but notice quite a few grammatical and spelling errors, which was a shame.
I also just wasn't that big a fan of Magnolia ; She came across as quite shallow at times and definitely treated people around her badly without them deserving it - so It's hard to fall in love with a book when you can't fall in love with the main character and thus can't always empathise with their situation.
I also felt that , even though the book contained some more mature themes, the overall writing style seemed quite naive or 'young' in some way and certain things mentioned within the story seemed to be written about only on a shallow level and definitely would have benefited from having more development within the story.
Regardless of those complaints though I didn't mind the book and would read more of the authors work :)

This book was pretty cute! I loved how the story flowed as well as the characters who were pretty amazing!
Magnolia loves being popular and under the spotlight but it’s taken away from her when her hotshot quarterback boyfriend breaks up with her in front of the whole school. Her best friend tells her to stage a fake relationship to deter the negative attention from her and the best person to do it with is none other than Kellen, her ex-bestfriend. But things become complicated when she realizes that she still has feelings for Kellen but does he feel the same way?
This book was so much fun! I love best friends to lovers trope, it’s my second favourite. Mags used to be best friends with Kellen but suddenly one day everything just changed between them as they faded out of each other’s life. I was so sad to learn what had happened with her in the past, it actually made me cry, nonetheless I understood why she used popularity as a facade to hide her real self. I loved how the story spanned out and I also loved to see how they both got to know each other once again though they were not the same person they used to be.
I loved Magnolia, at first I was a little bit confused what to feel about her but after I leaned the reason I understood though I loved how she slowly eased back to old self with Kellen. I liked Kellen as well, he was great guy though he did take a few bad decisions but I’m glad he had the guts to stand up for them. They were just so cute together! I absolutely adored them. I also enjoyed Justine's character, she was a great best friend and I freaking loved what they both did towards the ending. It was hilarious and awesome!
Overall, Running Back To Him was a great and cute read! The plot was handled neatly and I loved the characters development throughout the book. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book. I would definitely love to read more works by this author.
My heart is all mushy right now. I really enjoyed this story of young love and the struggles teenagers go through in high school. Because we all know high school can be a vicious place - peer pressure to be in the "in" crowd, to be popular, etc. Mags struggles to become someone popular and noticeable in high school after suffering a tragic loss. She desperately wants attention and gets it when she starts dating the QB; that is until he dumps her in a very public humiliating way. She's reduced to being the talk of the school and the target of the "in" crowd's disdain. Her plan to get back on top? Fake a relationship with the star running back of the football team who is also being shunned by everyone after fumbling the ball that cost the team their game. He also happens to be her childhood bff but they drifted apart and haven't spoken in years. Let the mayhem begin!!
The story gets very interesting after secrets are revealed between the main characters. It had me bawling at times especially when Mags has to confront the pain of losing her dad and sister in a car accident, which she had been avoiding doing. Kellen himself has secrets that make him the target of some manipulation by his popular ex-girlfriend. I would recommend this book because I really like the characters especially Mags, who is quirky, strong and even though for a moment she lost herself she was able to overcome a lot and find her true self again. Even though I wanted to throat punch Kellen half the time, his struggles are so emotional because they are real struggles a lot of athletes go through.
I kind of wanted the popular group to get more of what was coming to them but the scene Homecoming dance was awesome. Justine & Mags rocked it. LOL!! Everyone should have a best friend like that.

I read this a few months ago, so it's not totally fresh in my mind, but I just skimmed through it, and I remember it read really spastic and random. It was a super typical and cliché storyline - that I obviously don’t mind, since I read the book in the first place - but it had a lot of scenes that seemed either rushed, out of place, or just plain weird. Like when she had to sing him "Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty"...? What? That's not realistic; I kept expecting him to break out laughing or something, but it wasn't a joke, the author seriously put that in there. Had Evelyn just watched Big Bang Theory and felt inspired? And then there was her style and his inability to read, which - while I'm sure is a real problem out there - I couldn't really get behind since he's been in school for years now and has obviously passed his classes as he is still on the team. Reading is a big part of school, and I feel like he couldn't have made it that far without the ability.
I didn't love this book by any means and the end made me uncomfortable. Major meh.
I loved the book t only gave it 4 stars because I would have like to see the ending a little different I think that Kellens reading disorder should have come out and not have stayed a secret, I don't think it would have hurt anything as he was getting help and had been getting help. So many people hide their reading disorders because they are embarrassed. But overall it was a good book I loved the end when Magnolia took back who she was and said f you to everyone else that is how it should be. Be yourself no matter what.
I love the idea of old childhood friends hooking up, albeit a fake one. It was a fairly good book. I was enjoying it from the beginning but towards the end, I felt that it was a bit rushed. I don't know, the thoughts and events towards the end just got jumbled up for me - and it was a pain to read. But I did like it and the story, so I was committed to finish it. And at the end, it was a bit romantic, sure - but it was really cheesy as well.
I absolutely loved this book! From Bff's as children to fake boyfriend/girlfriend as teens, these two soon to be in love are awesome! Maksim and Keller are great characters and I loved the plot. Definitely recommend!

This was such a sweet second chance story. I felt Evelyn Rosado did a great job developing the characters and story. I loved reading how the characters grew and found their true selves and the innocence of it all. Once I started this I didn't want to put the book down.
This is a great quick ya romance and I would highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.
It was funny and all, but I felt that was missing I little bit more of consistency. It felt like it had to many twist plots and nothing at all at the same time. I didn't like that the heroine didn't have any self respect. I get she was kind of lost, but it felt like too much. At least for my liking. And at the end she never truly found herself. She only got the guy.
Got this as an arc for an honest review. I enjoyed Magnolia & Kellen's story. Lots of drama. And thankful I'm not longer in high school dealing with all the dramas...great story. At times I could really feel for Magnolia...
If you like one dimensional characters with a story that has no depth then this book is the one for you. Romance building had no special moments , the characters were your over the cliche top mean girls that gave you a headache. I loved the cover , but that was it.
If this book doesn't have you feeling so all of your emotions then somethings wrong with you. There was a perfect about of tragedy and romance and humor. I would recommend this book 10/10
