Sometimes a book comes along that just sweeps you up into its world and you marvel at how different it tastes. Wucaii by Pembroke Sinclair is one of those books that took me into a world of dragons, evil, the possible end of mankind and a love that has lasted through the ages and reincarnations of two souls meant to be together, but always torn apart. In a world far beyond our knowledge, dragons are the caretakers of planets. They feel the pain each planet feels as they are destroyed from within through the dirt of pollution, the hatred of wars and the greed of the inhabitants, who take and take while failing to protect the world they live in.

Aelana is part dragon and part human, she has spent hundreds of years destroying worlds so they may rise again, hopefully better and wiser. Earth’s time has come to be “cleansed” and for Aelana, returning to her home planet so long after she left it finds her caught up in a fight for all she believes in as she is forced to stand against a power much stronger than hers with the ability to bring chaos to the delicate balance of the universe.

Flashback to Aelana’s time, when her change began, when the only ones to accept her were the dragons as you learn to understand the actions Aelana takes at the behest of the dragons. Theirs is not a cruel action, but one meant to save the universe for the future.

Little did Aelana know she would once again, find her soulmate in a new reincarnation. The bond is familiar, but as humans they are strangers, making her job all the more difficult to carryout. Will she be forced to choose between the universe and the man her heart craves?

Pembroke Sinclair is not a follower, she blazes her own trail in the literary world and sets each page on fire with vivid details, intense emotions and an intricately patterned plot that weaves a beautiful tapestry of words to get lost in. Follow a very strong heroine as she finds the will to take on her hardest assignment yet. Feel her emotions, her strengths and her sorrows as she is tested to her limits and beyond, while learning inner truths about her own heart and mind.
Simply a fascinating, well-planned plot, paced to perfection. Definitely a hidden gem in the world of reading!

I received this copy from Pembroke Sinclair in exchange for my honest review.

Coming soon!

In 5 words: Dragons – Apocalypse – Magic – Badass – Conflicted
If that didn’t convince you yet (I mean come on, who doesn’t like dragons?), there’s more to it.
As the synopsis tells, Wucaii is a book about Aelana, who is partly human and partly dragon (how awesome is that!). The dragons are immortal and destroy worlds, and Aelana has to be the messenger that tells the inhabitants of that world that it’s going to end. But now, it’s the turn to the earth to be destroyed. In Aelana’s past she has lived on earth and fallen in love, and now she has to tell the humans they’re going to die.
What I really liked about this book was Aelana and how conflicted she was. Because she is partly dragon, she has a very logical side, and at the same time her human side acts on emotions. I thought Aelana was a very interesting main character and also really badass, she is strong and fights for what she believes.
The story was great and kept my attention with it. When I put away the book my head was still stuck with it, there were basically constantly dragons flying in my head. I expected the plot twist in a way, but not really in that way. I loved it that Aelana, even though she is a 500 year old immortal dragon-human-hybrid, was challenged.
One thing that I thought was quite confusing was the use of flashbacks. Especially in the beginning I didn’t realize that it were flashbacks, but after a while I realized how they fitted in, and that it was something that happened in the past. Surprisingly often chapters end with Aelana fainting/falling asleep/collapsing and start with her waking up. There’s nothing wrong with that, but just something I noticed.
I personally don’t really like the cover, and I think that there is so much more potential in it, but don’t let that put you off!
I loved the magic system and the world it is set in. It feels very real. I give this book 4 stars, because the world it is set in is vivid and really interesting and the characters and story were very engaging. If you like dragons (and who doesn’t?) you should read this book!
I would like to thank the author for providing me with this book to review, this did not affect my opinion in any way.

**I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

Dragons go from planet to planet to destroy the people living on them, but, after Aelana becomes a hybrid between a human and a dragon, everything changes and people finally get a chance to survive.

Now, 500 years after Aelana changed and left her planet, she has to come back, and she doesn't know what people might think of her, since the last time she was here was when she went through her transformation, and everyone saw her as a threat. Surprisingly to her, she is considered a protector by many, the Wucaii they call her, and she's the only one who can help them survive the dragons' wrath.

This is definitely a very original story, I'm into dragons, mermaids and all that stuff, but I've never read anything like this.

At first the story was a bit confusing, since you don't know anything about Aelana or the dragons, or why they even destroy worlds! But little by little we find out more about everything and it all starts making sense.

Aelana is not only worried about the people who are going to die when the dragons come to the planet, but also because she seems to have found the reincarnation of her soul mate, Thoran, the one who died 500 years ago because of her.

Kalen seems to be a bit different from Thoran, but there is something about him that makes Aelana feel like they belong together. I will admit I wasn't too crazy about him, but he did seem like a good guy, even if he was a bit dumb at times. And there's also Dek, a guy with great power (especially for a human), who's taken an interest in Aelana as well. He wants her to teach him to communicate with nature the way she does, and to reveal to him all the secrets about being a Wucaii.

I really loved the way the story was told, mostly with flashbacks about Aelana's life before becoming what she is now. It's very well done and, after you start putting all the pieces together, it's very easy to understand the whole story. And all the action scenes in the book are written pretty well also, I think it's really easy for an author to write action scenes that end up being messy and confusing, but this wasn't the case here.

A very original story that I recommend to all fantasy lovers :)

STORY LINE WUCAII:

In Wucaii, author Pembroke Sinclair, has created an intensely entertaining fantasy fiction novel. Human/dragon hybrid Aelana left home 500 years ago. During her time away, she has saved people and destroyed worlds. She's back bringing salvation for people willing to listen and heed. Having spent her life destroying and saving, Aelana has known trials, tribulations, lost of her lifelong love, and loneliness.

While on her home planet, she will encounter the reincarnation of her lost love. Will they be able to survive the coming apocalypse? Can they save the people and defeat the evil stalking them?

Grab your favorite beverage and have a seat; my fantasy fiction novel review of Wucaii follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:

Firstly, let me say, how much I enjoyed this fantasy fiction novel. Although I read and review fantasy, it is not my favorite genre. However, Wucaii, was intriguing from the first page and held my attention throughout. I look forward to reading more by Sinclair. Secondly, I found the character development by author Pembroke Sinclair, spot on as she progressively developed each character. With the addition of the background and look into Aelana's life, I felt I came to know and love her.

All good fantasy novels must have a villain; Sinclair surprises the reader with the identity of her villain. Willing to do anything to achieve the goals set, this villain will kill, cheat, and lie. You will love to hate this villain.

Furthermore, the pacing will keep you on the edge of your seat as you progress through the story. Sinclair brought all the story-lines together to craft a cohesive novel.

Finally, in concluding my review of Wucaii, I found this book an enjoyable and entertaining read containing all the elements needed to enmesh the reader into the story-line. With vivid descriptions, and well-crafted prose, Sinclair gained a fan with this treat.

WUCAII RECOMMENDATION; STARS 4

In addition, I found this novel suitable for young adults and adults. I found Wucaii a clean well-written novel; the author had no need of fluff to increase the page count or sex to sell her story-line. Wucaii contains a well-thought out premise.

FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE:

Additionally, I received this book from the author and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest fantasy fiction novel review. Lastly, book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion. Consequently, all book reviews on-line and on my blog, are my opinions. In addition, the ARC did not affect my voluntary fantasy fiction novel review.

This is a different take on the apocalypse. Some are prepared to accept what's been foretold whereas others will try to intervene in order to gain power.

Alaena is half human and half dragon. She is the only hybrid in existence and has lived amongst the dragons for five hundred years. She lost her soul mate when she went through the transition of being human to half dragon. It's now time for her to return to her people to prepare them for the forthcoming apocalypse. Some will be saved and it's up to her to guide them. She is not sure how she will be perceived after such a long time. She uses her magic to disguise herself so that she can blend with the humans.

Kalen is a law enforcer. He has a fascination for the statue raised in Alaena's memory.

Alaena visits the museum after closing hours where she is pleasantly surprised at what she finds. Kalen does his duties by asking her to leave since the place is closed. He feels a familiarity towards Alaena and thinks that they must have crossed path at some stage but Alaena knows the truth.

Kalen and Alaena are unable to fight the attraction between them but past experience has taught her that revealing herself comes with a price. She doesn’t want history to repeat itself. Can she keep this secret from him until the apocalypse? Those who are opposed to her presence are a threat to her and to those who believe. They use their magic, thinking that they can prevent what's already predestined. There is one who will do whatever it takes in order to be in control. There are indications about the identity of the true enemy and it comes as no surprise when this comes to light. He is evil!

This is quite different to any other apocalyptic novels. It takes place in the present time with quite a few flashbacks to five hundred years ago. It shows that there is always hope despite how dire a situation might look.

"For those who have found their soul mate and for those still looking—never give up".

It's a well written storyline with a fantastic twist at the very end. It's a very emotional and entertaining read.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was super excited when I received a copy for an honest review because I LOVE Dragons and enjoy a good apocalyptic read. I couldn't wait to see how she meshed the two together.

Aelana is a half-human, half-dragon hybrid, that travels the universe destroying dying planets so that they may heal from the damage the inhabitants have caused, is heading home after 500 years to bring the apocalypse to her former home. She can't help but wonder what lies in wait for her- have they remembered her after all these years or have they forgotten about her sacrifice, and what changes have occurred since she was last there. Join Aelana on her journey as she travels back to the place she once called home.

Aelana is the main character in Wucaii and the story is told from her point of view and through flashbacks from Aelana's past. I really enjoyed getting a look at Aelana's past and what events led up to her being transformed into a half-dragon, half-human hybrid and also loved the way that the flashbacks weren't told in the order in which they happened but in an order that went along with the current situation that caused Aelana to reminisce. She goes through such an array of emotions and Pembroke Sinclair did a wonderful job in having you feel Aelana's emotions as if they were your own. From the first chapter I was instantly invested in the story and what was going to happen.

Kalen is police officer in the town that Aelana used to live in, and she runs into him while she is at the museum that was once the old castle in her town. Kalen instantly feels that he has a strong connection with Aelana and she knows who Kalen used to be the moment that she meets him and why there is that feeling of a connection but is afraid to tell him the truth because of past experience.

In all good apocalyptic reads there is a villain that always complicates things and Pembroke Sinclair doesn't disappoint with the villain in Wucaii. I won't spoil who the villain is but will say I was utterly surprised as to how the events involving the villain played out.

Wucaii is a well paced, captivating read that you're sure to remember. I highly recommend it to any and all YA readers.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I was approached about it. The cover is definitely not one I would be drawn to in a bookstore. While I know that one should not judge a book by its cover, I think that I would actually be unlikely to even pick this book up in the store, much less flip it over and read the blurb. But since the ratings for this book are fairy decent on Goodreads, I agreed to read and review it.

My first impression when reading the first few pages was that the writing was alright, and that the story had potential. As I continued reading, I became more intrigued about how the story would wrap up, but found that the writing and plotline became more and more frustrating.

There was a lot of repetition, and there were also numerous contradictions. What I found to be the most frustrating was how characters would go back and forth about their decisions; particularly the main character, Aelana. She would constantly go off considering the pros and cons of things, for pages on end. And it became especially irritating, when she was considering the same issues over and over.

Another frustrating thing was how Aelana was portrayed as all powerful, and then weak at the same time. The author would switch between the two, depending on how she wanted the plot to go. I recall one page containing words similar to "she hated that he had overpowered her" and then the words "she was the most powerful and she was eternal." Note, those are not exact quotes, but I cannot be bothered to go and find the exact words.

Many of the characters would also realize things which did not make sense for them to realize. They would acquire knowledge, while it was not explained how they came to acquire it, and there were also numerous other aspects of this book which were never explained.

The reason why I gave this book two stars, in stead of one, is because I did like the idea behind the story and characters. I simply did not like the style in which the story was told.

I have mixed feelings about this book, but I think it's because it's so different. There are very dark undertones to it that aren't going to give you that happy go lucky feeling like the happily ever afters do. No,this is something entirely different. It's the end of the world. And unfortunately there will be very few survivors. The dragons are the harbinger of death and will destroy everything on the planet. This is a scenario Aelana has been through several times and it never gets easier. This time though she meets her old love reincarnated once again and they still have that deep connection. Several times I had to ask myself if she wouldn't try to stop so many innocent deaths. But this is one of those books where things are the way they are and it's just the will of the universe. However, as bleak as it sounds, the book offers a unique turn on the apocalypse and a very interesting read involving dragons.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about dragons! I had not realized that I was looking for something new to me until I got into this book. I did find the beginning a bit slow but I understand the need for the background. I did figure out the who was the bad guy right away but this did nothing to impede my enjoyment. I knew who, not the how. The how was awesome, taking me through a range of emotions. I liked the ending, which gave me a moment to calm my emotions.
There was not anything in the book that would prevent me from recommending it to YA readers, (or to anyone who finds certain language objective).
Thank you to Pamela from Moonlight Reader Reviews and the author for providing me with a review copy.

It's not often that you read a book about the apocalypse that isn't a mad dash for survival. And there are not nearly enough stories about the apocalypse via dragons out there. More dragon apocalypses please! In this unique and rare story, we see mankind's last hours through the eyes of the one who brings hope to a doomed world.

Aelana is no longer human, yet her humanity is not lost to her completely. She is a half-human, half-dragon hybrid and the harbinger of doom and salvation. It is her duty to travel to different worlds that are about to be destroyed by the dragons, immortal creatures of the universe, and deliver them a sign that would insure at least some survivors. But when she is sent to the world that was once her home (which may or may not be Earth) she's confronted with her reincarnated former lover and a whole church dedicated to her coming arrival. But there will always be those who will seek to stop the end of the world and, for the first time in five hundred years, she has something to lose.

The beauty of this story is seeing it from the perspective of the person bringing the end of the world about. Why would someone do such a thing? What motivates them? What happens after? Through the character Aelana, we see that the end of the world is something that must be done and it's her job to see it done. It's very good, therefore, that she's a hybrid. Dragons, the almighty creatures who bring about the destruction of worlds, are kind of Vulcan-esque in the way that they're strictly logical. Humans are destroying their own worlds so we must start over for the planet's sake. But Aelana, who possesses a dragon's logic and can see sense in it, still has a human heart and longs to help whomever she can. Both dragon and human are represented well through her as a main character. She's never too much of one but a perfect balance of human and dragon. Also, there are sections of the story where we dive into her past before her transformation into a hybrid, and I really liked her there too. Far too often strong, independent female protagonists are overly tough hicks who will punch you as soon as shake your hand just to prove how tough they are. Aelana, on the other hand, is patient and humble. When she loses a sword fight, she bows respectfully to her opponent and says she's glad to have offered a challenge. It's a kind of grace that we don't see very often and I really appreciated her.

While Aelana is described as being very powerful and immortal, the forces that seek to stop her still manage to be threatening. People will do crazy things to try and save the world, and even though she's the one trying to help mankind, you can see the logic behind those who try to kidnap or even kill Aelana to ensure their world is safe. While some of the minor baddies don't pose much of a threat even if you can understand their motivations, the real threat doesn't show up until later in the story. I'm not giving anything away, but even if you can guess what'll happen, it's still a pretty intense battle with some legitimate concerns about how the story will play out.

One element I was a little confused of was, as I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure that this planet the story takes place on is our earth. They make it sound like earth, it's described as earth, but last I checked I didn't know any homeless people who can control plants using only their minds. This world has magic in it, which Aelana also learned prior to her transformation, and it's used several times throughout the story. Not everyone can use it, but people don't seem overly surprised when they meet someone who can. Regardless, whichever world we're in, it's an interesting one nevertheless.

This story also holds a lot of potential for future installments. Again, I'm not going to give anything away, but the ending leaves things way open for more stories. I'd even like to see more of the worlds that Aelana has seen prior to the events of this book. What has she seen? What are the other worlds like? Why where they destroyed? How did Aelana adjust to becoming who she is and what she is? I'd definitely keep my eyes out for more stories in this universe.

Aelana is the perfect mix of human and dragon. She's a myth and a legend. Aelana is called a wucaii, which means royal protector. When the end of the world is near Aelana will choose who will survive and live to rebuild civilization. After 500 years Aelana has returned to earth. She puts on a disguise so that everyone sees her as a human. She once was in love, his name was Thoran. He was appalled when he saw her after her transformation. Aelana lost him for good when he gave his life to save hers. Now that she’s back on earth and has found the reincarnation of her one true love will she be able to save him as well?

Dragon’s don’t regret anything, humans do. Aelana frequently wonders if the decisions she made in the past were the right ones. She feels guilty, but also hopes that it was all worth it. Without Aelana nothing remains. The dragons destroy everything and will only let people live when they are marked. This information is given to them by Aelana. Does she always make the best choices? Probably not, but Aelana accepts the fact that she can’t save everyone.

Aelana is a complex character who has a lot going for her. She has feelings and emotions just like humans do, but she also has a cold and calculated dragon side. This combination made her very interesting. I loved reading about her decisions and the paths she chooses to follow. She has her insecurities, just like everybody else, however she's also enormously strong. She has only ever loved one person and I was cheering for her to have this love again.

Wucaii is an original story about the end of the world and surviving the apocalypse. The approach of this topic is original and different and this kept me hooked. I wanted to find out who would be left standing after the apocalypse. I love to read stories about the end of the world and Pembroke Sinclair provides a whole new angle with Wucaii. Her main characters really stand out, because they have so many unique qualities. The result is a fabulous story which will stay with me for a long time. Pembroke Sinclair is an author I will definitely follow in the future.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I will say honestly that I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book. It’s an apocalyptic story, there are dragon/human hybrids, travel around the universe, and a dose of romance, all jammed into a relatively short book. That’s a lot of stuff going on, and a lot of things I wouldn’t have really put together. So when it came through in an email, I had to give it a go, because I needed to see how you handle a story like that.

I don’t know how, but Sinclair somehow pulled all those things together and came up with one hell of a story. It’s put together beautifully, and while there are lots of crazy things happening, it doesn’t come across as a bizarre or crazy story. All of the elements of this story fit together like a puzzle, leaving you wondering how you ever questioned the premise in the first place.

The Good Points of Wucaii:

The writing is absolutely beautiful in this story. It flows so well that it’s easy to forget that you’re actually reading, and you get completely wrapped up in the story.

Wucaii flashes back and forth between what happened in Aelana’s past, and what is happening currently. I’ve seen this done in a lot of books, and it can be a really sticky thing, but Sinclair makes it work. The scenes flow together nicely, and the bits of the stories being revealed match up in such a way that you never feel lost, or as though you’ve been given too much.

The pacing of this story is so well done. It’s not too long, and the energy keeps up throughout the whole story, so you are able to fly through it without wanting to set it down for ‘slow bits’. And the way that the energy builds throughout and towards the climax of the story is addictive.

I loved the magic system in this one. I’ve read a lot of books where magic is connected to the Earth, but I loved how Sinclair went beyond that and had levels of natural magic. It did irk me sometimes that Aelana could basically do what she wanted with magic, though I did understand why that was possible. I won’t say too much more, because it does play a role, but it’s definitely one of my favourite magic systems to date.

There are a lot of themes in this book – compassion vs. self-serving, the inevitability of death, second chances, and so on – and they all come together in such a wonderful way. I can’t comment too much without giving away plot points, but trust me when I say that it’s well done.

The Downsides of Wucaii:

This is a matter of opinion sort of thing, but I would have preferred Aelana to speak better. She spoke in a very modern matter, and since she is 500 years old, I felt it would have made more sense for her to speak a little more old-fashioned.

The love story was a bit weird. It worked, and it definitely gave me a few feels, but it did seem a little hokey and cheesy. If you love romantic stories, this will probably be right up your alley, but it was a bit too much for me.

I regularly forgot and was surprised by the fact that Aelana was an adult. She seemed very young and childish to me much of the time, and I would be thrown off when she would respond to the romance plot points in a very adult manner or when she would drink. Honestly, I forgot that most of them were adults much of the time, with the exception of Bayn.

All in all, I did really enjoy this book. I’ve attempted to read a lot of dragon/human hybrid books before, and this is the first one that I’ve actually enjoyed. It doesn’t feel silly or hokey like so many others do. It’s a fun, easy read that will definitely appeal to all dragon, urban fantasy, or good vs. evil fans.

Now excuse me. I need to go get the mark tattooed on my body before the dragons come to destroy the world.

Treasures...the book world is an open treasure chest of rare gems...Some are true gold...some copper...some bronze, some tin, some...imitations.

WUCAII, for me, Ladybug Lin, is one of the rarest of literary metals...iridium.

Like the metal, WUCAII is the rarest of literary finds...a book that grabs you, holds you, changes you, and leaves you knowing a part of your soul has been reached.

This book will remain with me in the same way GONE WITH THE WIND by Margaret Mitchell, THE LAST DAY by Glenn Kleier, Becoming Nadia, by Cyrus Keith, ROCK OF REALM by Lea Schizas, HIDDEN by Kat Holmes, CELEBRITY IN DEATH by J.D. Robb, THUNDER MOUNTAIN by Rachel Lee, THE LIGHTHOUSE by Kat Holmes, THREE MILES BELOW by Kevin Hopson, THE WICKWARE SAGAS by Penny Estelle, and DARK SLAYER by Christine Feehan have.

I've been around a really long time and have been an avid reader since I was young enough to read. Over the decades I have read a LOT of books that I liked...and there are authors I have loved...but these are not books I LOVED...these are books that profoundly reached into me touching and changing something at my deepest part. These are books that I will never forget...and MUST reread.

WUCAII by Pembroke Sinclair joins that small, by comparison, list of books I will never be without...will never lose...I'll take with me no matter where or how far my body travels.

This is a review about WUCAII...how do I begin? I am in awe of the majesty of the universe. Our scientists are only NOW beginning to "see" beyond our own solar system...the colors, the energy, the amazing design staggers me...and that same staggering awe is what Pembroke Sinclair has woven in this story of death, rebirth, hope, destruction, death, rebirth and hope.

The Universe is our playground, but it is first and foremost eternal, therefore protected by powers beyond our limited understanding.

Dragons, created at the same moment of the Big Bang are charged with making certain the creatures inhabiting the planets, galaxies, etc, do not destroy the core of each world. When planets are sick from pollution, misuse, arrogant abuse, only through the cleansing rebirth of fire, can planets take back their purity and begin again.

WUCAII by Ms. Pembroke is powerfully written, and speaks to my soul.

This is a MUST read to all who know everything we are/have comes from the center of our earth. It's a living, sentient entity that will annihilate what destroys it and reclaim its purity by calling upon the protections of the eternal dragons...

BRILLIANT...

WUCAII deserves more than five stars, but that is all I am currenlty allowed to bestow upon it...

So FIVE STARS!

One word- DRAGONS!!! I happen to like them very much, but let me say that this one is quite unique. Think dragon apocalypse. Firstly, the dragons come when it’s time for each planet to have a little apocalypse and cleanse it of all the bad, and give it a fresh start, so the planets aren’t completely depleted before it’s too late. There happens to be one girl, who is a dragon shifter hybrid. She was born human, but now is a dragon shifter- she turns into a magnificent dragon. She’s literally the bringer of doom. When she lands on each planet, it’s because she is signalling the time. Pretty cool, eh?

So, Aelana is your hybrid. She has lost a bit, as in everything. She lost most of her humanity when she shifted, then her family, and her true love- who rejected her when he found out centuries ago- her material possessions. But she has the dragons, who treat her more equal than her human counterparts did before she turned. And then she meets the reincarnation of her true love. This is the first time she’s questioning if she should let the planet be destroyed. And now, she’s worried that there isn’t enough time to reconnect because he has no idea who she is, though he does know the end is coming.

I like Aelana. She’s strong, she sometimes doesn’t think like a human-but she isn’t really- and she can be funny in a not meaning to way. She’s always followed through with her orders, until now. She’s caught between saving her love and her home planet, and following the rules of the dragon world. Kalen is your typical good guy cop. He’s intrigued because he feels a connection to Aelana, but isn’t sure why. His best friend and his adopted father run a church that have signaled that it’s the end of the world, and he’s a believer, except that he wants to save as many people as possible and help everyone he can. He’s a little like a hero, except the heroes usually have something more than human, and well, he’s human.

I really liked this one. It got a little confusing at first with Aelana in the present and Aelana having flashbacks to when she was human, but then I realized that there were a lot of things I learned from those flashbacks. I learned about the people in Aelana’s life that shaped her to be who she has become. I also learned some things about the dragons and who they are and how they work. They also aren’t always the bad guy. There’s some mystery as a lot of people want to kill the hybrid, and get their hands on her power. Plus, you will be surprised at how things all fall into place. I’m definitely a fan!! 4.5 FIERY APOCALYPTIC PAWS!!

Aelana, half-human/half-dragon has been around for many, many years. Over the course of the years Aelana’s job been to go from planet to planet to help prepare the people for the upcoming apocalypse. Now the time has come for Aelana’s home planet to be destroyed by the dragons.

The visitors/humans was given the privilege of living on planet earth for a long time until planet earth could no longer take all the damage that the humans have bestowed upon it and must now repair itself.

When Aelana first made the transition from human to half-human/half-dragon she lost the love of her life when he gave his to save her. Aelana has not quite gotten over losing Thoran to this day but she does not intend to make the mistakes today as she did all those years ago. So when she meets Kalen who is Thoran incarnate she hopes to do everything right this time with no regrets to carry with her to the future.

Aelana has returned to earth to help the humans survive the apocalypse. She has given them the knowledge to save their selves if they will only use the information she has given them. The followers and believers of the Wacuii will more than likely do as she has said but others will not.

Now that Aelana has did her part in trying to help the humans all she wants to do is spend as much time as she can with her new friend Kalen until the world ends. But that might be a little hard to do when Kalen is nowhere to be found. With Kalen missing Aelana can’t be still and is determined to find him at all cost. Can she find him before the world ends?

I love a good apocalyptic novel and when I was given the opportunity to read Wucaii I jumped on it. Although Wucaii was way different than any other apocalyptic book I have read I enjoyed it tremendously. If you have not read Wucaii then you are in for a real treat. Pick up your copy today and let Aelana take you on the ride of your life soaring over mountains and waterfalls while trying to save the human race.

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pembroke Sinclair did it again! She always takes topics that can be overdone in a heartbeat, but changes them into a literary creation that no one has seen before. Each creation has amazing world building, well-developed characters, and a plot that keeps on giving. Wucaii accomplishes that and then some!

The main character is named Aelana and she is a hybrid meaning she can shift. Though shifting came with a big price. It changed people’s perspective of Aelana causing her to lose her family and one true love. Aelana is an outcast among humans, but fits in well with the dragons. However, when her true love becomes reincarnated, everything changes once more. Aelana begins to question her actions and who she is a person. This allows the reader to see her develop. Aelana must make a choice: does she choose her home planet and true love or does she choose the dragons; the ones who fully accept her.

This book takes place in the present, but there are a lot of flashbacks that allow the reader learn more about the dragons as well as Aelana when she was human. Learning about Aelana through the flashbacks is very important to the plot because it makes you understand why she makes the choices that she does. And yes she has a lot more choices than picking between the two worlds! There are a lot of people who want to kill her, and take her power which causes Aelana to not only find ways to ensure the survival of others, but also herself.

Wucaii is packed with action and twists which will keep you at the edge of your seat. It is a must read and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Because I have read a few of Pembroke Sinclair’s books in the past, I was given this one for free in exchange for an honest review. I am off and on with her books so I was interested in how this one would compare to the others.

Wow, where do I start? I read this book in 13 hours (it would have been less, but I have kids I have to chauffer around, lol)! I was engaged in the entire story and was upset when I had to put it down.
I felt it was quite clear to me who the “baddy” was going to be when the main character first meets him, but I can usually pick them out in books/movies/tv shows, so it don’t’ bother me. I was just looking forward to the climax of how it would all end.

The only problem I have with this book is the way the backstory was told. I don’t have any issue with it being throughout the book like flashbacks (heck, I watch Arrow, lol), I just wish it was in order. The main character was in the middle of her transformation in one flashback, then she was a child, then someone died in an attack, then that person is telling her an attack is coming, then she is a child again, then she is transforming again, then she is… I found it to be like a puzzle I had to rearrange in my head. Once all the pieces were together it was fine, it was just a bit hard to follow the first few times it happened.

This isn’t an “edge of your seat” adventure, but it is a good read. ☺

When I started reading this book I felt like it was something special and I wasn't disappointed. With plenty of mystery I could not put it down. It is a interesting take on the apocalypse which was very exciting.

Aelana is a half-human half-dragon hybrid. She travels the universe to prepare them for the destruction of the world so that it can heal the damages the inhabitants have caused. Kalen a police officer, who is the reincarnation of her soulmate Thoran. When the two meet he feels a connection, feeling like a they have met before.

The flashback to a time before Aelana was transformed into a hybrid was fantastic. It adds a lot to the story's background. Throughout the book we discover when Aelana first transformed into a hybrid. What happened with Thoran and why the dragons destroy the worlds.

In the end this book was a very descriptive book with a very entertaining plot, that I enjoyed from the beginning. I absolutely loved it.

Wucaii, definitely not the typical dragon book I expected and I love fantasy books. That's not to say that I didn't like it. On the contrary, I really enjoyed this book. The author had great writing skills and a fantastic imagination. The books begins a little slow, but definetly kicks up after knowing the history. I like the emotional highs and lows. In the end it balances out and makes you wanting for more. I would give this four hearts and a recommend!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. The world is dirty, there is evil everywhere and the dragons are sent burn it down to clean it up. Some people are marked for survival but many will die. For the last 500 years Aelana has watched but this time things are different. She meets a reincarnation of Thoran, a friend that died for her. The evil that surrounds the city is strong but can Aelana be stronger. A great fantasy read.

** ARC provided in exchange for an honest review. **

This is really more of a 3.5 rating. I enjoyed it more than "like it" but didn't necessarily "really like it". I think my rating reflects that I was able to put it down and walk away from it. Which is a shame as it has all the elements in a story that I prefer. I found it to be a lovely story. I just wish I hadn't been able to put it down.

I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would the storyline was unique and very interesting. The characters were well written. How the author came up with some of the things she did in the book is beyond me but it makes for a great read. This book is a must read for anyone who likes fantasy books.

This was the first fantasy book in awhile that interested me from start to finish. It was unique, well thought out, and the world it was set in was well developed. I loved that it flipped from her growing up (500 years previous to when the book is set) and the present. The main character is a dragon/human hybrid and that in itself is awesome!

This book had an interesting concept, but it fell short for me. I couldn't get myself into it and it seemed really boring at times.
