The Earth Is Good: A Chant in Praise of Nature

Rate this book
The sun is good. The earth is good. The trees and birds and bees are good. This powerful chant teaches children to appreciate the earth and all its gifts. And most important, it teaches children that they, too, are among the earth's treasures. The watercolor illustrations are beautifully designed and composed: by subtly interweaving the landscape with images of a child, the illustrator underscores the theme of mankind's oneness with nature.

Goes through different things in nature and says they're good. Like "The trees and birds and bees are good. The flowers are good. The words are simple and "good" but I think the highlight is probably the pictures. The words are big, and few on a page and in bubble print with two colors in watercolor filling the letters. The pictures are a boy and his dog enjoying nature. I love the page with the quote from above with flowers and a bird eating birdseed out of his hand. And the rain picture and the mountains (personal favorites). But they're all well done.
