Coming Out: An Act of Love
For gay men and lesbians, as well as for the families and friends of gays, this 1990's guide to coming out privately and publicly is a frank, powerful, and much-needed book. Eichberg says that a full-scale effort to find a cure for AIDS will only be implemented when gay people collectively affirm their sexuality.

It doesn't matter what you haven't come out of the closet about yet.
This book is for you.
If it is not about being Gay, substitute Gay with whatever you are still in the closet about, and this book is for you.
I was asked to lead a workshop titled "Are You a Closet Nudist?"
and some gay friends suggested I read this book first, as part of my preparation for the workshop.
And it's true, replacing Nudist, for Gay, and the concepts taught in the book worked just fine.
Because coming out, whatever it is about, is about an act of being able to love yourself for who you authentically know yourself to really be.

One of the most crucially kind and significant books I've read. Specifically, it helps with one's own coming out to self, and to others, and to remember that we all have to go through the process, no matter who we are.
It approaches this difficult time with love and patience.
It is also applicable to any transformation or difficult membrane one moves through in life.
It will stand the test of time. Keep this one handy.

This is a good book to use for clients who are LGBT and haven't come out to everyone yet. It is a little dated but the basic principles are the same. There are a lot of sample letters from people which having real life experiences always adds something.
