The first 25 pages of the book are devoted to introductory matters, and then it goes on to carefully outline a verse-by-verse exegesis of the text that is conservative, practical, and heart warming. In view of the fact that most commentaries on James are either elementary or available only to one who knows Greek, this is a work that brings the thought of the author (James) into the realm of the English reader from a scholarly and biblical approach.
I read this brief commentary 9 years ago. At the time I wrote on Facebook that it was "excellent... quite relevant to my life, and full of wisdom."
I found it among my father's books after he died. It had my Uncle Almos' name on it - he was my father's decades long friend as well as brother-in-law - so after I finished it I planned to give it back to him. I didn't manage that till Almos' 90th birthday party. He thought it was a birthday present (I wonder how many years my dad had had it?) and started reading it at the party. That's the last I saw of him on this earth.
Four years after that I wrote, "I don't particularly remember anything the book said - I hope I'm living it!"
