My Clothes = Mi Ropa is a bilingual concept book which abstractly promotes further mastery of children’s gross and fine motor skills as they earn how to participate in daily routines or activities such as getting dressed. By making dress up a fun activity, children will learn how to dress themselves. In conjunction with this activity, My Clothes = Mi Ropa is a labeling book which supports a child’s speech and language development by broadening or expanding their vocabulary. Appropriate for children 12-24 months, this book also promotes a child’s print motivation skill, because the fun activity associated with getting dressed makes reading enjoyable, and seeing that written words represent daily activities also develops print awareness. When this book is used as a shared activity, the practices employed—read, talk, and play all reinforce pre-reading skills.
