Chasing Famous is a redemptive book that teaches us how to take the focus off ourselves and shift it back on to the glory of God. Written by a professional actress who readily admits that she is the most self-centered person she knows, Chasing Famous provides practical and sometimes humorous examples of scriptural truth that will help you master the natural self-centered tendencies of life. This book helps to remind readers that we were all created with and for a purpose. We are all meant to do something and be something. And I think that there are a great deal of people out there who could use this type of encouragement, especially when they might be feeling useless or are lacking direction. The book is broken down into 3 sections; Your Story For the Splendor of God, Your Gifts for the Glory of God and Your Every Day for the Glory of God. Within each section there are also individual chapters that cover a variety of topics. Each chapter includes scripture that relates the topic at hand and "Questions to Consider" as the end of the chapter that help the reader further understand what they learned throughout the chapter and apply it to their life. One of the main lessons we can take from the book is that to find our real purpose is to completely trust in God's plan for us. The author uses biblical references, scripture and her own experiences to explain how our true purpose can only be found through God.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and the author's writing. I also enjoyed the book was set up and found it very easy to read. The book has a great message that most of us could benefit from focusing on more in our live. Thank you to the publisher for sending me an advanced reading copy of this book.

Y’all this is such a great book! From the pretty cover to the interior design to the engaging writing style and most importantly the theme, Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd is an excellent choice for personal devotions or small group study.

Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd is engaging and honest (I so appreciate her willingness to be vulnerable), and it gives us the freedom to abandon our own pursuits at fame and to channel that energy into making God famous instead. This is definitely a book I’m going to reread and incorporate into my daily walk to fully savor.

Lloyd chased after fame and success through her professional acting career. She came to the realization that her success was not to be measured by applause but by how well she represented God and glorified Him.

She shares her experiences and the lessons she has learned. She reminds us that our desires for affirmation and success were given by God and He alone can fulfill them. Hers is a good example of a life transformed by God.

This book would be a good one for young women who think they need to find their worth and success in their appearance. Lloyd is very honest in sharing her life experiences and how God has showed her where true success lies. There are questions at the end of each chapter for personal reflection or group use. Lloyd has also included the entire Bible passages she uses so this would be a good book for those unfamiliar with the Bible.

There was one area I found a bit troublesome. Based on what the Bible says at the end of the creation account, Lloyd says we are “very good.” It seems she has forgotten the effects of the Fall. Everyone is not beautiful nor is everyone very good. We are fallen creatures, born in sin. Lloyd does mention the evils of humankind when she writes about human trafficking and forced prostitution. But this is not a theological work. It is more of an encouraging book for those who think about their outer appearance rather than the condition of their spiritual self. Lloyd speaks often of her relationship to God but not about the saving grace of believing in Jesus Christ.

Food for thought: Our purpose on this earth has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him...

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Litfuse. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Chasing Famous is a refreshing read on the peace we find when we make our lives less about ourselves and focus on God and all that He desires! Lisa Lloyd is an actress and has creatively written about surrendering our need for the spotlight to God’s desire for us to make Him known. Only God can satisfy our desire to be loved and accepted. Lisa writes about how she’s found joy and contentment by pursuing a deep personal relationship with Jesus and by changing her focus to introducing Him to friends, family and those she comes in contact with, thus “making Him famous”. If you are tired of constantly striving to be enough, trying to please everyone in your life, and wanting to be all things to all people, then get this book and let God speak new purpose into your life! There are questions for reflection at the end of each chapter, making this a great book for small groups and disciple relationships. Note: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher.

I liked the chapters: photoshop & stage mom. I thought the content was excellent and thought provoking.

I did not like the formatting, fonts, and italics. When the author used italics on the Bible verses to add emphasis, the font made it very difficult to see where the emphasis actually were. Sometimes she would show the entire verse and then sometimes the verse numbers would be in parentheses. I think having the verse laid out all the time would save the trouble of looking it up and they would actually look it up. Too many different fonts. I think the slang (ex:ginormous) used today will prevent the book surviving over time. While I think the author intended the book to be casual with the tone, it could read as amateurish.

Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd

I just finished this book and wanted to share it here. This book was a fresh take on finding and living our purpose in a way that glorifies God. I loved that I could pick up this book and read 1-2 chapters at a time. She sprinkles in personal stories, scripture and reflection questions. Lisa is an actress (speaker and writer and boy mama) and weaves stories of her time in front of the camera to challenge the reader to make God Famous in their own life. She also references The Office and Saved by the Bell so that’s a 5⭐️ rating from me just for that 😉.

This would be a great gift for a young girl graduating high school or college or a fun book for a mom and daughter to read together.

Pub Date 03 Apr 2017

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Chasing Famous through the publisher and Netgalley.

God wants us to use our lives to be a testimante to his fame. He wants our lives to show his love.

We are reminded that we were all born to do something, to be something. We were all created with a purpose in mind. The author also points out success doesn't mean the same thing for everyone.

The author goes on to remind us of using our gifts to glorify God, whatever your gifts maybe.

I give Chasing Famous five out of five stars.

Happy Reading.

I was never going to buy this book, but then it was listed for free on Kindle, so I downloaded it. And then I was never going to read it because I have a TBR pile one mile high from authors who are "famous" and "influential." I only acquired this book because I know the author -- barely. She is a trainer at my gym, so when she posted that her book was available for free on Kindle, I figured why not? I'd download it and get to it -- eventually. Maybe years from now. I have no idea why I started reading it; I was in the middle of another non-fiction book. But I did start. And once I started, I was unexpectedly surprised at how good it was.

In "Chasing Famous: Living the Life You're Always Auditioned For," Lisa Lloyd tells the story of how she came about to live her life for the glory of God. She is an actor, so she uses acting allegories throughout the book to explain different spiritual principles. Each chapter starts with an explanation of an acting term, such as "the cast list," "projection," and "the go-see," and then is applied to our spiritual lives. I have zero interest in acting, so I did not think these allegories would be relevant to my life, but what I found is that I could relate to every chapter. There are either doubts that linger or fears that keep me from doing what God has called me to do. And because we all want to live for our own fame in this sin-marred world, we cave into the fears and the doubts. Yet for Christians, the call is different. We must live for the glory of God alone, giving up the fear of rejection or failure and trusting that God will use us for his glory. In this book, Lloyd encourages readers to live this life, giving examples of times she has failed and times she, through the power of the Holy Spirit, has been able to give up her own fame for that of God. Lloyd admonishes readers to set aside their pride, their doubts, and their fears so that God might be made famous. Ironically, books by other more "famous" people have not encouraged me in this way so much. So, Christian, pick up this book, read it, and then go make God famous.

Chasing Famous: Living the Life You've Always Auditioned for

"Chasing Famous" by Lisa Lloyd is an amazing and empowering book! Lisa uses her faith, acting experience, real life "characters" from biblical stories, scripture, her own life stories, and powerful truths to explain the need to make God famous. She shares how we need to take the focus off ourselves to shine the light on God, to always give Him the glory. She instills in the reader the need to step into the roles the Lord has created for our lives, not with the intent to make ourselves center stage but to magnify Him. He needs to be center stage of our life.

Lisa is very raw and honest in sharing her own life struggles in a vulnerable and authentic way. She opens her soul to walk the reader through some difficult times that the Lord used to shed the light on Him."Chasing Famous" gives countless examples of ordinary people in the Bible that the Lord used to bring about His purposes. We are the vessels He uses to bring about His plans and desires here on earth.

Lisa shares her life stories with an honest, relatable and sometimes humorous voice. I love how she brought me right into her story using everyday life examples to convey her message of God being the center stage of our lives. I had so many "ah-ha" moments reading Lisa's book, saying "Yes I have been there too! I have lived through this very thing, I am not alone!" I felt like I was having coffee with a friend swapping life stories together. I feel I walked away with a much better insight into the stories of the Bible and how they are all still applicable and relatable today. Lisa provides questions at the end of each chapter, which I really enjoyed. I feel it gave me the opportunity to implement and apply the wisdom and truths of what I read.

I love these quotes from Lisa Lloyd's book,"And so as you repeatedly "trust fall" into the arms of God, you multiply the fame of Him to all who watch. May we say, "I'm gonna walk into my tomorrow, confident that the God of my yesterday is with me." And because of our radical trust, may we make God famous." "Our purpose on this earth has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him-to live for the fame of God's holy name."

I loved "Chasing Famous" and feel so blessed by the faith-filled messages Lisa conveys throughout the book. It's not about us, it's all about Him and what He does through us to bring about His glory. Keeping the Lord as center stage keeps us centered on Him and the works He is fulfilling in us. Lisa Lloyd has written a beautiful book that I know will touch countless lives, all for His glory. He is in pursuit of us, we exist for Him, to glorify Him and His biblical truths.

I adored this book. I found myself feeling the gamut of emotions. From awe to conviction. From inspired to deeply moved. It’s been a few days since I completed this book in it’s entirety but one sentence continues to haunt me…in a good way. In chapter 12, the author says, “May we not miss the opportunity to be used by God where we are because we are so consumed with a desire to be used by God where we’re not.”
What I loved about Chasing Famous

1. It is written by an actor who uses acting terminology. Each chapter is titled using a phrase from the industry. Isn’t that clever. For example: “The Aside”, “The Stage Mom”, “Love Scene”
2. It is loaded with truths from God’s word. The author quotes her mom’s sage advice to heed the wisdom of the Bible before making any major decisions. Then when doubt or questions surface you can always return to God’s word which does not change. This gives her words authority. The amount of scripture referenced is insanely awesome.
3. It’s relatable. Every chapter shares a story about her life and how God uses her experiences to make Him famous. I’m not a performer by any means but I can relate to her down to earth examples and see how I too, can mirror God in my life.
4. I want to make him famous. The book did it’s job. I would describe myself as an introvert with extroverted dreams. I typically thrive in one on one conversations. Stick a microphone in my hand and if I’m passionate enough about my topic, I can hold my own but it’s not really a natural setting for me. There’s a meme that says something along the lines of. Me in writing: Pulitzer worthy. Me in person: lacking in social skills. And yet…I dream of big things. Published works, book tours, paid to do this thing I love so much: writing. And maybe one day these dreams will be a reality. I’ll be exhausted. Because…introvert. Regardless of the largeness or more realistic smallness of my reader audience, I am called to chase God’s fame. To proclaim the goodness of Him. My eyes welled up with tears more than once as I faced the mirror and found myself center stage and God the supporting role.

How does one make God famous? What might seem like a moot question (Who is capable of making the God famous, after all?), is one that burns at the very core of Lisa Lloyd. This is evidenced by her quest to turn her personal struggles (and likely, others’ as well) into God-honoring experiences. Her clever poetic verse begins the journey by challenging the reader to ask the question, “Why was I created and what was I born to do?” The answer lies within the individual who follows her soul-searching metaphor of theater. Being an actor herself, she examines many challenges one might face in attempting to make God-fame, through the eyes and steps of the theatrical world. Beginning with fear of an audition, she brilliantly crafts a passionate, yet coherent analogy for every stage in the process from seeking the role to waiting with patience, and perhaps angst, for the timely cue for action. Each piece of the theater experience has a parallel in what one might expect who attempts to use his or her talents for His fame, with plenty of her own skirmishes revealed as examples of both failure and victory over the need for egocentric applause. As ultimately and inherently important in the process, she underscores the need to trust God with the outcomes. Readers will find scriptural truth in this offering, which concludes with a poetic recitation of God’s gift of Christ. A must-read for anyone who wishes to find meaning and purpose in life’s tumultuous trials and the encouragement to trust God with the results.

I am always looking for books that motivate and inspire me and “Chasing Famous” does just that. Whether you are a Christian or not, this book has something to offer. After reading it I felt brave, courageous and more confident in God’s plan for my life. Lisa is raw, honest, funny and a great storyteller. Each chapter has questions that help solidify the message as well as helping to narrow down your purpose and passion. I just feel ready to stop shrinking away from my purpose and walk boldly toward the action! I highly recommend this book!

How do we make God famous? Who makes him famous after all? A question I've never really thought about and one that this author brings up. The answer lies within the question. Can we really make God famous? I think this answer lies within the person seeking to find out who they are, what brings him fame and how the world of theater attempts to make an individual fame, when we can bring glory to God. This book is beautiful in the way that it weaves the theater world into the world of failure, truth, talent and fame. Ultimately, the author makes it clear, that in order to make His name great, we must trust Him and Him alone. The only way to find real purpose in life, is through Him and we must trust Him for everything. This book was a good read and I felt that I connected with the author. Overall, I give this book a 5/5 stars rating. A postiive review not required. Thank you to the publishers for providing a copy.

My Review:

To ever think that all the roles that we as women play in our daily lives. We endure and overcome so much that many times we view ourselves as never good enough. Never good enough to be the best mom that our kids needs or the greatest wife that my husband deserves. Each day we throw ourselves under the bus just to do it time and time again. And for what? God doesn't see us that way and we should actually consider the fact that none of our family does either.

The other day I found myself running all over town for my husband and my kiddos because I made the mistake of announcing that I was going into town to run an errand. Then a light bulb went off and several requests were made for me to run around and do things for them, as well. I grumbled a little about it because I thought, don't they see that my time is valuable and that I have things to do. When in reality, I would be upset if they asked someone else to do these things for them. Who loves them better than me? Well God, of course but Mama is just under that.

In my family's eyes I'm a queen that waits on them hand and foot but they know that no matter what Mama has their back and she will do just about anything to please them. And every once in awhile I get rewarded for it. Like my youngest telling me that I'm the best or my oldest saying, "Thanks Mom!"

The Mama that stays up late at night praying for her family whether its an attack from the enemy or they have a major test that they just have to pass. God picked me to be theirs and I love that job position.

Chasing Famous is an actress' way of showing you that bring glory to God has to be first and foremost in every situation. She shares with us how to break the "it's all about me" mold and to look onward and upward more often than not. We get so caught up in the whoa is me mentality and we need to be grateful to God that we are better today than we were yesterday.

A great book for those days that need a little more sunshine!

Chasing Famous was a timely addition to my shelf! My church life group focuses on missions, and recently completed John Piper's Let the Nations Be Glad! DVD and group study guide. In it, Piper emphasizes God's pursuit of His own glory; this theme continues (and Piper is mentioned several times) in Chasing Famous. I geeked out a little, as a big Piper fan.

Thus, I approached Chasing Famous with a somewhat pronounced missional focus and Piper bent. That being said - any reader can relate to Lloyd's writing style and content. Her unique perspective and story immediately draw you in, and you will start to see opportunities to glorify God around every corner.

Theologically sound and convicting in every page, Chasing Famous challenges the reader to pursue God's glory in all things. Whatever stage of life you find yourself in, this book is relevant. You don't need to be a missionary on the field, an actor, or an influential business person - you are uniquely positioned to give God glory where you are. Whatever the situation.

Lloyd provides practical application on how to do just that throughout the book; reflection questions at the end of each chapter prompt further thought. The chapter headings relating to the acting process were clever, and related well to the general theme and content of the book.

Certainly a worthwhile read, and a valuable addition to the bookshelf.

I absolutely loved this book! I am just now stepping out into God's call for my life and this book was both encouraging and inspirational. In Chasing Famous, Lisa does a good job of giving a call to action, while encouraging and empathizing with the obstacles you might face when pursuing your passion. Whether you are pondering what calling God has placed on your life, or you are fearful to step out in obedience because of insecurities and a lack of qualifications, she points you to the truth of who God says you are and shows you the way to freedom in choosing to follow His plan over your own. She uses her knowledge and background in the acting industry as a creative guide to help you through the process of discovering your gifts and talents and using them to bring God glory.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to discover their gifts, talents and passion. Each chapter ends with a series of questions that propel the reader further through the process of discovery.

Chasing Famous: Living the Life You've Always Auditioned For is actress and speaker Lisa Lloyd's first book. I could tell just from reading this book that Lisa is a dynamic, vibrant woman who really has a heart for God and desires to follow His will. The back cover says:

"Have you ever considered your life as an audition? Regardless of who or where we are, we are constantly, often unconsciously, auditioning for a part. Loving wife. Amazing employee. Crafting queen. Socialite. All we really want is to be loved, affirmed, and accepted. What if we could learn to live the life we have always been auditioning for without all the stress?

I don't want to write a negative review, because I really like Lisa's personality and I didn't dislike the book. However, it was quite a difficult read for me and I had trouble getting through it. It wasn't a page-turner, cohesive book that really flowed. It was comprised of 20 fairly short, topical chapters and read more like a devotional. Each chapter tackled a different subject and was based on an acting theme (ie, The Cast List, Method Acting, The Go-See, Booking The Job, Love Scene, etc.). I found the acting theme tedious after awhile, which to be fair is not Lisa's fault! I'm just not terribly interested in acting, the stage, and Hollywood. However, there were some good gems inside this book. I found some chapters more relevant to my life than others. I appreciated the chapters on marriage and parenting, and I also liked her transparency in disclosing her turbulent teenage years and abortion. I can really relate to Lisa in a lot of ways and I appreciated that she told her story openly and honestly and didn't cover up her mistakes. Many Christian authors gloss over past sins or just vaguely hint at past problems and sins but won't name them or truly share their story. I really dislike that, and I loved that Lisa really opened up and was real throughout the book. I think this book would really appeal to anyone interested in acting. The bottom line of this book is that Lisa's goal in life is to make God famous, and she's passing along that challenge to the reader as well.

My Thoughts:
1. Lisa Lloyd is an actor. She has an extrovert personality that shines on stage and through the book. This is the first reason I read the book. An attraction to a person I can not relate to. I guess that sounds odd, but I love to read about people who I can learn from. My mind cannot relate to a person wanting to be on stage and performing for an audience. So, curiosity led me to read this book.
2. Lloyd engages the reader with quips from acting. For example, each chapter has a title that goes along with the acting business: "The Cast List, The Audience, Wait for Your Cue."
Lloyd shares about how she became an actor, memories of auditions, relationships with other actors, and performances. I found her life experiences entertaining and interesting.
3. Chapter 3 is "The Audience." The chapter begins with a question: "Why do we do what we do [as actors]?" One of the reasons is "validation." Lloyd explains in the book how all people want validation. We want the applause of men. This causes trouble and heartache. Lloyd teaches, "The Lord desires for us to be confident in Him alone. To be confident in His unconditional love. So much so that we don't need anyone else's applause." Page 28.
4. At the end of each chapter is "Questions to Consider." Having questions at the end of chapters have become common in Christian nonfiction books and I'm glad.
5. Lloyd is transparent about her life. She made choices that led to other choices that led to deep sadness. I appreciate her candor. It is difficult to tell a large audience (or any audience) about painful memories. It feels vulnerable. On the other hand, it feels freeing. It is freeing because Lloyd reminds us she is forgiven in Christ Jesus.
6. And as a follow-up to number 5, I love this quote from page 54. "We must become people who don't whisper about the sins of others that we see walking down the halls at church..."
"How will people know what God is like if we don't mirror Him to them." We are to extend grace.
7. Several Bible stories are shared in Chasing Famous. For example, The five women who helped Moses as a baby. These women were used by God.
8. My favorite chapter is 8, "Actors, the Opposite of People." Page 170 held my favorite quote and teaching. "As believers, God is always asking us to obey Him in some way. Obedience could be defined as something we don't want to do that we know we should do and we decide to do. It is literally leaving behind self for the sake of God. Obedience is probably one of the strongest ways we can show our allegiance to Him. And dying to me means living for Him, which glorifies His name."

I feel Chasing Famous is unique, in that it is written by an actor who sees things from a different perspective than most of us, who are the audience. Lloyd uses this unique perspective to teach we are to live for Christ Jesus and not for the gain of men (people.)

CHASING FAMOUS is not simply a book about how Lisa makes God famous in her life (but her personal story is touching and you don't want to miss it!). Lisa shows us how to “lengthen, elevate, and radiate” the fame of God’s Name in our personal stories, our talents, and in our everyday activities. When we are transparent and vulnerable, we let the world see the real us and how God is working in our lives--which encourages them to do the same. And He is glorified!

Wow. I just finished Chasing Famous and am beyond inspired. This book is such a gift! I have sent countless quotes and pictures of pages to friends because there is gentle wisdom and loving encouragement for every woman within these chapters, no matter what phase of life she finds herself in. This book is vulnerable and real, and Lisa eloquently puts words to so many of my scattered thoughts and dreams, affirming the deepest cries of my heart and replacing my fears with truth. Chasing Famous brings scriptures and stories from the Bible to life, and the Holy Spirit has used this book to stir my affections for our sweet Savior and to deepen my desire for closeness with God. Each chapter points me to the cross, and fills me with purpose and a passion for His glory. And I know there are so many others reading Chasing Famous who could echo my sentiments.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! From the very beginning, it had me taking a good, hard look at myself and evaluating who I was seeking to please. Too often we get caught up in "how will this make ME look" instead of "how can I glorify God" with my life/actions. The probing questions at the end of each chapter could easily lead this book into a weekly women's devotional group study. But, beware, it will stretch you to open up and be honest about things in your past that are still hindering you from fully accepting God's unfailing grace and things currently in your heart that are holding you back from being the WOMAN that God created you to be. He did not create us to make ourselves center stage, we were created to make HIM famous through our lives. May those around you know the character of GOD through your actions, life and testimony. May you leave behind a legacy that makes GOD famous. I am ready to read this book again and see how God speaks to me this time.

Am I chasing famous? Or am I chasing after what makes God famous? Author and actress, Lisa Lloyd poses these questions in her book, Chasing Famous-Living the Life You've Always Auditioned For.

I was hesitant at first because how can my life as wife/mom/homemaker compare to this actress? But Lisa Lloyd removes all pretense immediately offering honest, heartfelt, and revealing guidance to live life in the Light of who God created each of us to be. Ms. Lloyd does this through chapters uniquely titled to reflect terms related to the stage. Topics like Method Acting, Encore, Booking the Job, The Aside, Trust Fall among many dive into the truthful theme that when we live on purpose--doing what God called us and created us to do--we will make Him famous. We can bring Him the glory and honor and live boldly in the calling.

I found myself underlining a lot of passages that became personal to me. Ms. Lloyd uses personal stories and Scripture to support each idea and at the end of each chapter there are a list of questions that will help readers dig deeper. I found each chapter gave me much to think and pray about. In fact, it gave me much to discuss with my growing teenagers and husband.

Chasing Famous is well-written and thought out book that I think would make a great women's study but can also be read individually. I think this would also be a great resource for young women who are preparing to face a world where the topics in this book will help validate them and encourage them to live boldly.

"What if you and I trusted Him with radial faith?" -Lisa Lloyd, Chasing Famous

At the end of this book, this is the question that remains on my heart and I believe Ms. Lloyd ignites the flames of hope by suggesting what if... How will I answer that question and what amazing things can happen in my life, in the lives of those around me, and in the world if I truly begin to chase what makes Him famous??

I was very interested in reading this book as a woman who has struggled with self-esteem and purpose in life. The subtitle of this book is ''Living the Life You've Always Auditioned For'' and is sure to capture the curiosity of most people. The author is Lisa Lloyd, an actress who can speak from experience. I love the point she makes through all the chapters of the book: turn the spotlight on GOD! And then you will discover what it means to truly live. It sounds simple enough, but in reality we know that is hard to do. Thus, the author carefully explains throughout her book how we can do that. I found her book interesting. It wasn't the most life-changing book I've read but it was good.

This book brings a new concept to many of us - taking the spotlight off ourselves and putting it squarely on God. If you're like me, you enjoy a bit of the spotlight now and again and that pat on the back, too. However, Lisa shares with us how we can live a more fulfilled life by putting the spotlight on God.

It's quite fun the way she has set this book up. The font and the way it reads is somewhat like a script. Since Lisa is an actress, this makes sense, and it also keeps that reminder that we want and need to keep the spotlight on God. It reminded me that God has a script (plan) for my life, too, and that I can trust Him to guide me through, much like a director.

I love the questions at the end of each chapter. They bring into focus what I read in the chapter and helped me to really apply it to my life. I liked using a separate journal for this as it gave me more area to write than the book provides.

Each and everything in this book is about God. It has so much beautiful Scripture and focuses on the Word of God. I also love how open and vulnerable Lisa was in this book. It makes it more real and gives you that feeling that you're not alone in your feelings. So much of what she wrote, I related to.

I loved the whole book but there were a couple of chapters that absolutely stood out to me. Chapter 8 is called, "Finding Your Light" and focuses on our God-given gifts or talents. I was so inspired by this chapter and realizing that my gifts are what God gave me to use for Him! The other chapter I loved was 11. It was called, "On Hold". The minute I read that, I knew this chapter was going to speak profoundly to my heart. She asks if we have put ourselves on hold in not doing what God has called us to do or set aside the task we know we should be doing for Him. This gave me a whole new feeling about not setting my God ordained tasks aside! If He calls me to do it, I need to do it and finish it.

This is a wonderful book! It inspires, refreshes and brings a whole new feeling into what we do in our lives. All the things we do matter - the little and the large - and as we do them, we need to do them for the glory of God and not focus on ourselves. I love this book (and intend to read it again!) and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Have you ever wanted to be famous? What would it be like to have people asking for your autograph? In this engaging book the author is an actress who wants to make God famous. I loved how she uses theater sayings to illustrate how we all have a purpose. It will require from us to step out of our comfort zone to make God famous. For some that is not easy, but the author eloquently quoted Isaiah 43:7, " That His name and His celebrity be known throughout the world."

I think about the different people in the Bible who made God famous by His healing , strength and forgiveness. We all remember David and Goliath and how God equipped David to slay the giant . Through that act David made God famous by trusting Him. Do we fully trust God? Many of us have heard lies throughout our lives that we are not good enough, but that thinking needs to stop. We have been choosen by Him so therefore we are good enough to fulfill our destiny. I loved how the author includes scriptures throughout the book that reinforces His word. There are also questions at the end of every chapter that can be used as a bible study.

Something the author said really hit me and made me realize my thinking has been all wrong. I always worry that my blog is not as good as others and my reviews are horrible. Does God care about how many followers I have? "But God will hold me accountable for making Him famous while I live- to my kids, my husband , my neighbors, to the cashier at the grocery store, and the employee at the drive-through." I see that my focus has been on trying to make myself famous, instead of living a life that honors Him. The author has written a book that is honest, transparent and encouring. I loved the different topics she uses and how we can become stronger by making God famous.

"And when we relinquish control, guess what happens to the image of God for those around us? He is made famous. "

I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

I remember as a young child(and early teens) I wanted to be an actress. I wanted to be famous & have people asking for MY autograph. I was even on a church drama team with my three best friends from the ages of 13-16. Lisa Loyd is an actress who wants to make...get this, not herself...but GOD famous.

There are many people from the Bible who made God famous for many different reasons including but not limited to His forgiveness, and healing. Loyd has written an amazing transparent book that is honest & encouraging. I absolutely love the different topics that are used on how we can become stronger & make GOD famous

I strongly encourage others to read this book.

When I first read the title to this book, “Chasing Famous”, I was curious as where the author was going and how a desire for fame could (and should) be a part of every Christian’s life. Lisa Lloyd masterfully weaves her story, vulnerably I might add, with God’s story in a way that encouraged me to look more closely at my own life and how He wants to use me, and every part of my story (good and bad), for the fame of His Name. I was encouraged not only to look at my gifts, whether up front gifts or behind the scenes gifts, but also to step out in faith and look for opportunities to use my gifts, without comparing to others. And then she talks about our “every day for the eminence of God” in Section 3. Talk about practical! Gossip, beauty, marriage, justice, obedience, and a beautiful and challenging chapter on parenting…. all issues we deal with on a regular basis, and all issues where God wants our choices to bring Him glory! Thank you for bringing a Biblically-centered book about every day life to this every day woman.
