Beretta drives me insane for all the wrong reasons. It’s not just how his jaw-dropping warrior’s body makes me ache so right. He’s an apex alpha in a world of testerone-fueled badasses, and he makes me feel safe when I know I’m not. Safety with a badass outlaw like him is like strapping yourself to a mast in a hurricane, but that doesn’t stop me from holding on for dear life. We can’t ever be together; there’s too much pain in our history. Even so, I’ll be damned if my body doesn’t light on fire when he’s near. Maybe, even if he’s a killer and an outlaw…he’s just who I need.
BERETTA
My outlaw brothers and I were born bad. We fight, we ride, we steal, and we kill. There’s nothing else I know. Then I met Helen. Those hips that make my body quake. Those soul-stealing kisses. I need to have her as much as I need the next beat of my heart. But, danger surrounds me. The only way I can protect her is to make her my old lady. She doesn’t understand. I don’t give a damn. I’ll make her mine whether she likes it or not.
I love to write stories featuring hot alpha badasses falling in love with strong, smart women in the midst of a ton of excitement, turmoil, and intrigue. Life is strange, beautiful, and wonderful, but sometimes it can be a little too boring. My stories spice the day up with enough heat to need a cold drink nearby as you read, and they always close with a HEA.
Wild Ride has all the explosive intensity of Hard Ride. There’s nothing better then reading top alpha men, getting into their glory, battling their way to the top. The Copperheads demands their blood. Their old MC’s won’t have them and all these misfits have are each other. Lydia Pax does an amazing job bringing to life the inner workings of the criminal badass bikers and their pursuit to survival. One club, new allegiances and a hostage that could jeopardize everything. The Wrecking Crew welcomes you! Five bullet chasing stars, enjoy! Thank you Lydia Pax for allowing me the privilege of reading this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
If you read Hard Rider (the first book in the series) they you know a little bit about Beretta's past and why Ace dislikes him so much. In this story we learn much more about Beretta and most of it isn't surprising, but we do get to witness a second chance for him to be happy again. Ok, maybe that's pushing it since Beretta journey back to happiness starts with him kidnapping Helen, but they each deserve to be happy again.
Beretta and Helen had dated previously and then she got spooked and broke things off with him, now here they are about six months later..Beretta still doesn't understand why Helen broke things off and for that matter Helen is having a hard time remembering herself. She always pictured herself with a badass biker so why did she leave him when things were going so well between the two?
Stockland is the small town where the Wrecking Crew (from Hard Rider) is expanding their operations to. Ace, Beretta, Tank, and Locke are the Wrecking Crew members in charge of gaining the new territory but they need to get the Copperhead MC out of the way first. Upon the initial stakeout Beretta and Locke find themselves in trouble so when Beretta shows up at the hospital to steal supplies from an ambulance to help stitch Locke up and he sees Helen, he decides they need a Nurse too.
Now that a war is going on between the CopperHeads and The Wrecking Crew having a Nurse on hand is going to mighty helpful, that is if they can stay alive long enough to settle with the Cartel.
This book had a lot of action and I'm not talking about the sexy time between Helen and Beretta either although that action filled too. I am hoping that Ace will get his story next, but only time will tell who the next lucky Wrecking Crew member will be to find his HEA.
Wow. This book was amazing. It is a book I plan on reading over and over again. I love Lydia Pax and her books I have read.
In this book Beretta, yes the Beretta from Hard Rider, is back in the Wrecking Crew MC and they are expanding. And there is Helen, a nurse at the local hospital in the new town. Beretta and Helen have history, not much of one but they have it and the energy rises.
There are explosions and heat and gun fights and love. What else would you want in a Bad Boy Romance Novel? Especially when it involves a Motorcycle Crew?
I would recommend this book to everyone I know. I am planing on reading it again as I said and I want to read more of these books. Keep writing.
**I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.**
Nurse Helen had always fantasied about being an Old Lady to some rough and tough biker but reality was she took a walk on the wild side once with a biker named Beretta and even though it was what she had dream of and full of mind blowing sex she ran from him. Helen ran from Beretta straight into a relasonship with a lawyer who was worse than any criminal biker because lawyer man was an abuser who had now became her stalker as she ran from him.
Helen now was set in a job in a hospital miles from her lawyer in Marlowe and was hiding from him in Stockland. As luck would have it though it was Beretta that found Helen first…or I should say that Helen found Beretta as he was breaking into an ambulance in her hospital’s parking lot. Beretta had no choice but to grab Helen and bring her back to the warehouse the Wrecking Crew was holed up in. Really there were only four members of the Wrecking Crew in Stockland trying to open another charter in this town but because there was only four of them that did not make them any less dangerous. After bringing Helen back to the warehouse to patch up Locke and Beretta himself, Beretta knew that Helen would be killed. They couldn’t leave any loose ends and Helen was now considered a loose end.
Even though Beretta never understood why Helen ran from him he still had trouble fighting his instinct to protect her and he knew the only way to keep her alive was to make her his old lady. The Wrecking Crew had a lot on their plate since the cartel was after them and only gave them days to pay them off; they also had to deal with two other rival clubs in Stockland. There was supposed to be a small truce with the Furnace bikers but it was all out war with the Copperheads with Rattler as their Prez. The Crew knew that they needed money and they needed it fast and the Copperheads and a ton of it hidden. They approached Ivan who is the Prez of the Furnace bikers, for a little ammo so they could pull this off especially since all they had was four guys and their (willing) hostage Helen.
So were the guys able to make this happen since they were so outnumbered and do you really trust the rival you had just made a deal with…you know what they say about making a deal with the devil. Everyone knows that there is no getting around anything where the cartel is concerned also so are they able to come up with a way to pacify them? It kept you wondering how this was all going to work out and you will find surprise after surprise on how the Wrecking Crew tries to stay alive and begin a new charter in Stockland. But best of all is to follow Beretta and Helen as they have this push/pull thing going on between them. Can Beretta keep Helen alive long enough to find out why she left him the first time around and is Helen really a willing partner in all of this or were the guys right in wanting to kill her when they had the chance? The chemistry between Beretta and Helen was damn hot once they felt they could react on it but neither of them knew for how long it would last this time. This is a definite read for any biker lover and I have to say that I can’t wait to see what Ms. Pax has coming next for the Wrecking Crew guys.
This book was provided as an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Helen was a nurse and she was a woman who was looking for a bad boy who would love her but she seems to get the wrong ones at lease Randall her ex was the wrong one he wanted to bully her and hurt so she dumped him and then she got hooked up with Beretta a biker with one of Three MC crews in town but he didn't hurt her or bully her but they seem to be only good in bed because he really wouldn't talk to her so she dumped him and Randall wouldn't leave her alone so she left town and moved to Stockland here she had been for about a month and her ex still kept calling her even when she told him to leave her alone then she finds out the he has moved to town too Randall just didn't get it but she refuse to see him. Then the night that she goes on break she heard something by the ambulances while she was smoking and went to see what was going on someone was breaking into the ambulances and taking equipment she stood there like an idiot and she realized that it was someone she knew but before she could do anything he turned around it was her ex Beretta and he kidnapped her and took her with him because he needed a nurse one of his bro's from the Wrecking Crew had been shot because Beretta decided that they could take out Rattler and his crew by themselves but it didn't work now Locke was unconscious and they needed medical assistance so she finds herself in a warehouse with the other members of the crew which she could count on one hand. She took care of Locke who was hurt the worse and then Beretta because he almost passed out the the Prez Ace decided that they should kill Helen so she couldn't tell what she knew but Beretta would not allow it and the others agreed so Beretta told her that she had to pretend to be his old lady to protect her she agreed but didn't like it, they were in town trying to establish them selves but there were already the Copperheads and the Furnece crews and the Copperheads owned the town and everything and just about everyone including the cops they brought a guy with them who was suppose to cook the drugs for them in order to start making money but they found him dead and the drugs and the equipment gone then found out that Ace had got the money for the drugs and stuff from the Cartel which gave them until the next Monday which was 5 days away to pay it back or they all would die so they had to come up with a plan which Beretta did and they worked together to pull off only they didn't have the explosives or the guns to get it done so they went to Ivan Prez of the Furnece Beretta didn't like Ivan for good reason and Ivan didn't like him but Ace knew it was the only way Ivan wasn't stupid but they didn't keep that in mind but he agreed to help them but they had to pay in advance so Helen offered meds and she and Beretta got the meds from the hospital and then an incident on the way out and Beretta knew that this guy that was talking to Helen at one time hurt her and he was pissed and Helen thought that she was finally rid of Randall she was falling for Beretta and he for her even though he didn't want to. There is so much that went on in this book that makes it a powerful adventure romance I received a copy for an honest review.
**I was graciously provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.**
I enjoyed Wild Rider for the simple fact that there was no immediate insta-love between the two main characters, Beretta & Helen. This couple had a brief short history together before Helen just suddenly called it off and left without giving a reason why. Now here we are several months later and Helen has started her life over in a new town unaware that she is about to collide with her past and become an unwilling participant in a turf war between two rival MC's.
Beretta & Helen are believable characters that I think just about anyone could identify with. Neither one is perfect, they both have issues and personal demons, but doesn't everyone? Beretta makes a decision while he is out on a scouting mission in enemy territory with fellow club member Locke that sets in motion a chain of events that lead him right to Helen. He has no choice but to take Helen with him because her skills as a nurse are needed at that particular moment in time.
Now the only way for Helen to stay alive is to play the part of Beretta's "Old Lady" and she is less than thrilled about it. Dealing with unresolved feelings, insecurities, and doubts against the backdrop of a turf war between the Wrecking Crew & the Rattlers kept me turning pages to see what would happen next between this explosive couple! I enjoy a book that makes me feel invested in what happens to the characters and Wild Rider does an excellet job of conveying this.
I would definitely recommend reading Wild Rider even if you aren't a fan of MC books. It has a well-written plot, amazing characters, suspense, intrigue, sex, and a couple who will keep you on the edge of your seat. What more could you ask for? Beretta and Helen took me for a "wild ride" and I loved every minute of it and so will you!
Baretta and Helen had their story. Way back they had been together. Now, Fate had reunited them and not in a good way. Dealing with distrust, regrets for the past and emotions that were clouding his mind Baretta had to fight his desires. She was not part of his plan and he didn’t want to endanger her. He was a man of his word and he was going to protect her even from him. Helen was fleeing from a bad relationship and struggling with her insecurities when she met Baretta. So intense were they feelings that she feared she would lose herself in him and become someone she didn’t like, so she fled again. She was regretting what she had done before and fearing what, again, was luring her. She can’t keep out of her mind the emotions, his touch and she remembered everything Baretta had made her feel. But, he had her, an MC war was at the turn of the corner and now she was part of all that. Baretta was a monster but he was all that she had and she wanted him. Action, intrigue, suspense, hot sex and violence were present in the story. Liked Helen character. She was strong, witty and very smart. A woman with her skills must be feared! Baretta had lose so much time feeling guilty and trapped in the past so this was time to move on. From the beginning of the story things looked bad for Baretta and Helen but the author worked the story in such a way that I was interested waiting for some twist that changed the curse of the action and gave them some leverage. The author did not fail me. Enjoyed the plot development and the outcome of the story.
Nurse Helen always wanted to know how it's like to be an Old Lady to a biker. She decided to walk on the wild side and land herself a biker named Beretta. They had mind blowing sex but Helen ran from Beretta. She starts seeing a douchey lawyer who is far worse than any criminal. He became abusive and controlling that had her running. Helen is now working at a hospital miles from her lawyer in Marlowe. She struck out cause guess who broke into the ambulance?!?! Yes!! Beretta!!
Beretta and his brothers were hurting. They needed medical attention and fast. Helen was in ambulance that he was raiding and wondered why she left him. He got no choice but to grab Helen and bring her back. There are only four members of the Wrecking Crew in Stockland cause they trying to open another charter in this town. After Helen patched up Locke and Beretta himself, Beretta knew that Helen would be killed. They couldn’t leave any loose ends and Helen was now considered a loose end. Now that a war is going on between the CopperHeads and The Wrecking Crew. Having a Nurse on hand is going to mighty helpful, that is if they can stay alive long enough to settle with the Cartel.
Lydia Pax is a good author and I love her Bad Boy Bikers. Nothing like a good MC Bad Boy story. This is an action packed story with bad boys/bikers, shoot’em ups, murder and mayhem…what else could you want in a book? This is a must read book. You will not regret it. This book is recommended for mature readers 18 years of age or older.
Beretta is a biker and he belongs to the MC group The Wrecking Crew and they are looking to set up in the town of Stockland. He and his crew fight, steal, and kill. But then he kidnapped her to help his friend and MC brother Locke who was shot…but now her life is in danger because the brothers are scared she will go the cops…and Beretta has to claim her as his old lady in order to protect her.
Helen is a nurse and she dated Beretta about 6 months ago. She never expected him to show up and kidnap her from the hospital. She wants to go home but he won’t let her leave. Now she is wondering if is what she needs in her life.
Will Beretta and Helen find the love they are looking for? Or will the MC come in between them? You will have to read to find out.
No spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.
Helen was running from her ex and ended up finding a nice place to go. She got another job in nursing and like where she was. While going outside to check out a noise, she see's someone trying to break into the ambulance. Well she gets grabbed from behind and taken along with them. Its just after seeing them she realizes who kidnapped her. A man from her past that she left. He gets her to help fix one of his guys that was shot and while she did that, wasn't long before he realized he was shot too. After she has them fixed up they decide she needs to be taken care of now. Well Baretta has decided that won't do and says she is his old lady. There were a couple that were not happy about her sticking around but they let it go for now. What starts out as a way to save her life, ends up at love. With so much happening in the story, it's constantly keeping you hopping. A great read with so much happening as the story goes.
I received this for my honest review. Baretta and Helen have their history they had been together, fate had reunited them and not in a good way. Dealing with distrust, regrets of the past and his emotions he had to fight his desires as she was not part of his plan and he didn’t want to endanger her. Helen a nurse was fleeing from a bad relationship and struggling with her insecurities when she met Baretta and their intense feelings were what she feared maybe even lose herself in him and so she ran. But, now he had kidnapped her, an MC war was just around the corner and now she was going to be a part of all that. It is full of action, intrigue, suspense, hot sex and violence throughout this story that keeps your attention, Helen's character was strong, witty and very smart and with her skills useful, Baretta had lost so much time feeling guilty and trying to prove himself in the past maybe this was his time to move on.
A man on a mission to save his hide, his crew, and maybe just maybe his woman... If she will have him. A woman out for herself, trying to stay away from a crazy ex and get her life together. But all that changes when she runs into him... Quite literally. Beretta is or was second command in his old gang. But that was then, this is now. With a rag tag team of new and old members from the Wrecking Crew. He is second command after Ace. They must take out the enemy or basically don't come back... But even if they do they have to get outta shot from the cartel first. Helen is just your everyday average nurse. After leaving her crazy ex behind her. She wants a life of no troubles or crazies. But it seems to follow her around like a bad habit. All she really wants is a rouge biker man built like a brick house and can man handle her just the way she likes it... Will she ever find that man...
I enjoyed this book just as much as I did book one, though there was that wierd similarity where Beretta and Helen pretended to be a couple in order to keep her safe. I mean it defeated the purpose in book one, same thing here, I really didn't see a need for the charade as it was obvious no one was willing to kill Helen, not even Ace.
Still, it was a very engaging read, with just a small rag tag group for an MC and a lot of double crossing and high body count to keep the reader turning the page. Characters are colorful and some quite funny with their own sad stories to tell.
I received this book for an honest review. Helen is running from so much and walks back into ones arms. Beretta is breaking into an ambulance to steal supplies and Nurse Helen finds him. All Helen wants to do is get away, but Beretta is trying to protect her, as well as his heart. Before it is over, she wants to stay, but he still wants her to leave. Can they live through it another day? This is a great book that you will not put down.
Great MC read. Beretta and Helen had a past together. When Helen left she ended up in a bad relationship with an attorney who abused her and became her stalker. She accidently runs into Beretta which again put her in danger. Can Beretta protect her? This is a fast paced and suspense filled read. The chemistry between Beretta and Helen is steamy! Hooked from beginning to end. Loved it!
What an exciting read. Helen ran from Beretta once before but will she stay or leave. Beretta is with a new crew and running from trouble when he stumbles upon Helen again. Are they able to put differences behind? Great read, with characters you can't help but love.
This was definitely a wild ride! Wild, dangerous & exciting. There were some scary moments & a while lotta hotness going on. It was not hard to see why she kept wanting the danger. And the dangerous guy. Read & enjoy the wild!
What I liked most about this book is that this group of MC brothers were flawed; they're the expendables. So they grow over the story, and no one besides the villains were truly bad people. Neither were they innocent. Helen was along for a wild ride after realizing this is life or death for her.
I received this book for my honest opinion. This was a good book. Lots of action and drama and sex. This is a hot alpha. And a nurse who does anything for her man.
Love, love MC romances and this one was great. I am thrilled with the characters and how they meshed well in the book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Loved it. If you love a little violence, a little action, and a lot of hot loving. The action kept me reading and the remaining story line made the book. I received free copy for a honest review.
I chose to read and review this book. I enjoyed reading this one a lot. It was well written from the plot to flow to characters that are very captivating. I loved how each one is like the sun and the moon but fit together so well. The action suspense romance and sparks that fly everywhere were great. I highly recommend this one I cant wait for more

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--WILD RIDER is the second installment in Lydia Pax’s contemporary, adult BAD BOY BIKERS erotic, romance, MC series. This is MC Wrecking Crew biker Beretta Hancock, and nurse Helen Kowalsky’s story line- a second chance of sorts for two people whose lives couldn’t be any more different. WILD RIDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. We were first introduced to Beretta in book one-Hard Rider where Beretta is shown from a different angle.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Beretta and Helen) WILD RIDER focuses on revenge, betrayal, power, control, and money owed. The Wrecking Crew MC borrowed and now owe the local Cartel $50,000 and with the recent attack against their club, all money had disappeared, and they had lost one of their own. But Stockland, Texas wasn’t Wrecking Crew territory and the Copperheads MC wasn’t in the mood for competition so the threat of a war was very real and in the near future. When Beretta takes matters into his own hands threatening the Copperheads MC, gunfire finds our ‘hero’ requiring the services of the local medical community. Enter Helen Kowalsky, a nurse and Beretta’s ex girlfriend, and the woman who, six months earlier, walked away without a backwards glance. What ensues is an attack against the MC that ignites a firestorm of revenge and retaliation as The Wrecking Crew prepares to take over Stockland, Texas.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting players including several members of The Wrecking Crew MC-Ace, Locke, and Tank ; the Copperheads president Rattler; the Furnace MC leader Ivan, and several members of their respective crews. We are also introduced to Helen’s co-worker Georgetta, and Helen’s ex boyfriend Randall whose role in the story line is a bit of a red herring.
The world building looks at the gritty, underbelly of the motorcycle club: the guns, the drugs, the fight for control, and the violence that pervades every aspect of their lives. WILD RIDER is a graphically violent story line, with strong language, and scenes of potential torture and threats against rival MCs. The conflict follows several paths resulting in numerous shoot-outs, an amassing body count, and a mult-million dollar pay out with winner takes all. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense but I did struggle with the lack of palpable energy between our leading couple. $ex appears to be the only thing these two have in common.
WILD RIDER has action and suspense; retaliation and revenge; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is spirited and intense; the characters are impulsive and strong; the romance is spirited and fated. If you like your MC story lines with unabashed grit and high strung characters, then give Lydia Pax’s Bad Boy Bikers series a try.

Wild Rider is definitely the perfect title to this book , because oh my gosh it was wild. The action scenes are so intense and seem perfectly authentic, if you can imagine and handle reading about real life crime and violence. That said, Pax does an awesome job of combining action and sexy romance. This can be read as a stand alone but if you read the first book, I think you will get more out of Wild Rider, mostly because of Baretta. He intrigued me in book one, being the former enemy, but he definitely redeemed himself in this novel. He's sexy, brooding, and powerful. Basically a wet dream come true, if you love alpha males. But with his tattered past, he is definitely a little broken and disconnected from getting close to people. I really loved him. Helen was another story for me. I didn't really understand her hot and cold personality toward the criminal lifestyle. First she was appalled by the wrecking crew and the next minute she was fantasizing about being an Old Lady and living the criminal biker life beside her man. But she grew on me because her character made me realize people are not cut and dry, and don't always see black and white.Helen always dreamed of being an Old lady but she was torn because of her bad experience with men, and what type of men she thought all bikers were. Anyway, all the things I said about these characters is proof that the author does a fantastic job of enriching her characters and bringing her story to life. And the secondary characters are just as awesome! One thing that I wish was a bit different was maybe less action and more romance, but that's the biker life, right? So go ahead buy this one if you're looking for a sexy, action packed, authentic biker romance! * I would say this is definitely a 17+ novel because of violence and sex.
