Raina McMillan's life in the past year hasn't been easy. In addition to running the world class Del Mar Hotel and Resort and taking custody of her nieces and nephew after her sister passed away, she's having to deal with insinuations from her boss that she'll lose her job unless she gives him what he wants-- and what he wants, is her.
Christian Del Mar seems to have it all -- good looks, good fortune, and a thriving multi-national chain of high-end resort hotels. But one thing he's never had luck with is love. But when the formerly thriving hotel in Palm Beach starts to struggle, Christian believes there's more trouble brewing than his regional manager is letting on. Donning the disguise of a handyman, Christian goes undercover to find out exactly what's going wrong.
He expected to find the culprit behind his declining sales figures; what he didn't expect was to find the woman of his dreams.
But all is not well at the Del Mar hotel, and what if the culprit turns out to be... Raina McMillan, the woman Christian is falling for?
Undercover Billionaire Boss is a 70k word story featuring an interracial romance, a happy ending, and no cliff-hangers.
It was an okay book, if a bit too detailed, but the writing was flowing nicely. The romance was sweet and the kids were cute, I would've enjoyed it more if Chris wasn't such a useless hero.
The whole point he went undercover was to investigate the disappearing money from his hotel. But all he managed to do was to learn how to fix broken toilets and break Raina's heart.
I get that Raina was already had her hands full with the children, and I didn't really expect her to do some sleuthing too. So, I was hoping Chris to put his thinking cap on and started earning his hero status. But, of course he was so busy hurting and moping... that it took the best friend Kelly to do all the work.
I'm so sorry I underestimated you, Kelly. I thought you would be just another "best friend", someone the heroine gossiped and borrowed clothes from. But you're so much more than that. You figured out the creepy pervy Roger's scheme, you installed camera to capture his sexual harassment moments, you get harassed and molested by him to get evidence... Because of your efforts, Raina and Chris could get their HEA. I wish you're my best friend. You deserve your own book!
It's Cinderella's story. Raina is a saint, she given all she had to those who needs, the kids, Christopher when she thinks he is a homeless. She can't be the real because I don't hit I the world would have this kind of people. She is the best in words.
Christian/ Christopher, is a good guy, he didn't deserve what he had, the trust with the kids. At the first, it's a lying, undercover mission for his company, but he didn't do it right as CEO, in fact he chased the manager, cause the affairs, make Raina in bad reputation , because she had affair with the subordinate, it is bad. When ugly things in there, he never try to fix it, like the first intention he goes to the place,me just left. Anyway, things can be understand why he did. Because he is billionaire n Raina just a poor lady with huge debt/ but get a huge money in sudden. Anyway, as a romance story, it is good n easy to read even us think about the lines are not real.
No big deal because women are naive, always thinking about HEA n fairy tales, it's fine.
This was a very enjoyable read! When the owner of the Del Mar hotels, Christian, goes undercover as a maintenance man, Chrstopher, to discover what is going wrong in his hotel, he falls for Raina, the hotel manager. When his own family interferes he leaves her and her children. This was a well written story and had moments that because of content were not easy to read. It was all too realistic in its description of how some men in authority act toward female employees.
Raina McMillan didn't expect to be a single mother of three at this point in her life, but when her only sibling and her husband are killed she becomes the legal guardian of her 2 nieces and her nephew. Life is tough for this single mother, but as the manager of the Del Mar Hotel in Palm Springs she's got hope. She's hard working and enjoys her job.
The hotel is in need of a maintenance man, and she hires Christopher Smith, a man she assumes is down on his luck and looking for an opportunity for work, little does she realise Chris is actually Christian Del Mar, owner of the hotel she works for.
Christian's undercover to see what's happening at his hotel, it's been making a loss under the current management. What he doesn't expect is the kindness and generosity of the manager, falling for her was not part of the plan and when the unexpected findings come in can it be true that this generous, woman he's fallen for could be the one extorting money from his company?
This was a sweet book, you could see where it was going from a mile away, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. The characters were likeable especially the kids. I thoroughly enjoyed this read 😊👍🏽
Undercover Billionaire Boss: A BWWM Contemporary Romance is a very good and exciting interracial romance novel that earned a rating of five stars. A Billionaire went under cover to find why his hotel was losing money and he found th love of his life. After many obstacles the found their happy ever after. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading very good romance novels.
Raina is proud of the work she does as hotel manager, but she's got plenty on her plate for two or three people. Chris falls for her as a handyman, but his CEO reality, plus some accusations against his attractive boss, have created significant barriers to them getting together.
It's cute; a couple of really noticeable typos. Low on the steam, but it's there. Race issues weren't necessarily addressed heavily, but did get mentioned a couple of times.
Love how the hero fell deeply in love with his manager from first sight. Even with the fact that she was now legal guardian of her nieces and nephew because of the death of her sister and brother in law. He didn’t miss a beat in his love for her and the kids and taking care of them. The only drawback was him not giving her a chance to defend herself when he thought she had stolen from him. Happy everything worked out for them.
Being a fan of Mia Caldwell's, I was not disappointed in the way this story turned out!!! Reading it reminded me of that reality show by the same name, but the results were so much better!! I was thankful it turned out the way that it did!! You'll have to read it for yourself to see and enjoy what I read!!
Enjoyed the pace of the overall storyline. Selfishly wanted an epilogue to gain a glimpse into future...like adoption of nieces and nephew plus update on the birth of their baby . A lovely read.
The synopsis sounded great. It sounded like a detective story with a little romance thrown in. The disappointment came as it was actually neither. I stuck it out and finished it as it was not terrible writing but just so simplistic. Sorry!
I enjoyed this book, because it has an Alpha male and female they was too good the story have the right amount or spicy and drama, Kelley was a good friend.
I loved the main characters and the supporting characters as well. They had wonderfully developed personalities, very colorful and realistic. The chemistry was right on target. I gave a 5-Star rating because I believe all of the qualities were represented, excellent story line very believable. Great characters, good and bad. No lulls in the story, it read smoothly & kept mug attention. I would definitely recommend this book to all of the hopeless, swirling romantics or there, you won't be disappointed.
This was a pretty gripping read. I really liked Raina and Christain/Christopher as characters and the plot was really interesting and gripping.
Raina is the manager of the Del Mar, one of the hotels in the Del Mar group owned by the private billionaire Christian Del Mar. She hires Christopher Smith as a handyman but little does she know that Christopher is actually Christian who is posing undercover to discover what is causing his hotels to lose money. While undercover, he is drawn to Raina's kindness and beauty and they begin a relationship after she, believing that he is living in a homeless shelter, offers him a place to stay.
I really liked Raina. She was a kind, hardworking independent woman who had taken in her sisters three children after her sister and her husband were killed by a drunk driver, even though being a single parent was difficult and she could barely afford to take them all in. Chris was a smart, private man who had lost his trust in women after being used by one too many women for what he could give rather than being with him for who he was. I really liked their chemistry together and how great Chris was with all the kids. From the every start of their relationship, they fit together really well and I was really rooting for them, despite Chris's guilt over lying about who he was because I could see his reasons and where he was coming from with his past experiences.
When it came to the big misunderstanding, I could totally see it coming, what with Raina not confiding in Chris about her problems at work with Roger. However, I also understood that for Raina, not saying anything made sense because she didn't know who Chris really was and she didn't want to burden (what she thought was) his already burdened life. And after what Chris thought he saw with Raina and Roger, in light of his experiences I could understand his actions and his believing Rogers accusations, clouded as he was by hurt. However, I feel like he should have realized sooner, before Kelly said anything, that Raina hadn't done what she was accused of. I feel like after he got over the initial hurt, as a smart guy who knew and loved Raina, he should have realized she was loyal to the Del Mar and wouldn't do anything to hurt the company that had allowed her to rise through the ranks and make something of herself. Also, I think that in the end, Raina forgave Chris way too easily and agreed to marry him way way too quickly.
However, despite this, I really liked that book. 4 stars.
I really enjoyed this story. Raina and Christian were wonderful. I totally get why he had to pretend he was a maintenance guy in order to find out what was happening at his hotels. It wouldn't have been a story. Loved Kelly. I hope she finds herself a guy who would cherish her the way Christian cherished Raina. I hope they castrate Roger the perv. Loved her nieces and nephew. Those kids were wise beyond their years. Thank you!
This story was well written. The characters are well developed and anyone could connect to the events. Overview. Raina was a single parent. She adopted her twin nieces and nephew when their parents were in a car accident. It's only been 3 months, but she is adjusting. She works full time as the hotels manger for hotel Del Mar. Christian Del Mar decides to go undercover at one of his hotels as Christopher Smith, in order to find out why the hotel wasn't making it. Raina hires him as a handyman. She thinks he is homeless and also offers him a place in her basement until he can get back on his feet. Christian jumps for the chance to be closer to her and find out what is going on with her home life as well as work. But in the end, Christian has a hard time not falling for her and her family. But some how Raina is blamed for the hotels issues. Will they find the thief? Will Raina change her future? Will Christian see himself in a new future?
Undercover Billionaire. I received this book as a ARC member in return for an honest review. Mia has done it again! I loved this book! This book talked about some real issues in many women's lives. Sexual harassment, blackmail, stealing money on the job, and taking care of children yours or a family member. These issues determine so many women's lives. I enjoyed the story of how Raina wins the man of her dreams. It was heart breaking when Christopher/Christian didn't give Raina the chance to explain. And Raina turned around and did the same thing. We must learn to listen to each other and don't jump to conclusions. I am glad Raina had a friend strong enough to care and take it into her own hands to solve the problem. I know there is a book for Kelly. Can't wait to read it!
What can I really say about this book? It took me through a wide range of emotions including but not limited to anxiety and depression(however brief). For me, it was all apart of enjoying Christian and Raina's story. Not without its downfalls at times it could have done with less detail or fairy tale feel. However, the characters invoked such feeling that it was hard to turn away from. It was, to say the least, my single best read of the last few months. Having just finished another of her works, I am thoroughly impressed with this author and encourage others to try her books on for size. Billionaire Christian Del Mar is going undercover to find out why his hotels profits are coming up short. He was suspicious of the manager, Raina McMillan, but he learns that she's different from the women he's use to accompanying. As sparks fly between, he can't forget his mission. There's a snake in the company. Will Christian find it to be Raina or will he find the culprit & have a happily ever after with her? This story was a page turner. I could not put it down for wanting to see what was going to happen next. 5 STARS!
What can I say if you have not read this you really should. Christian goes undercover as a maintenance man in one of his hotels to find out why the hotel is losing money. Raina the manager at the hotel loves her job but she is barely making ends meet since she became guardian of her nephew and her two nieces. This book has sexual harassment, blackmail, and a perverted uncle Roger there were several times I wanted to knee uncle Roger in the family jewels. So glad that Christian and Raina got there HEA
