Sift
The summer I graduated from high school, I raced out of my small Virginian town to seek my culinary dreams in the big city. I couldn’t afford New York City, though, so I settled in Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Love wasn’t The Big Apple, but it had its charms and pockets of culinary splendor. I hadn’t minded because it was only temporary. After culinary school, I planned to do as I’d been dying to do since I was a little girl and roam the earth and splurge on its fruits.
More than five years later, I was still in Philly, living with the same roommate I’d had when I had first moved, working as a pastry chef in a bakery across the bridge in New Jersey, and I had Cade. Caden was my on and off again boyfriend of four years. I loved him, even when I hated him.
Our relationship was hot and cold, hard and fast, sexy and heartbreaking. It wasn’t until I was with Caden that I understood that passion could be just as terrible as it was beautiful. I didn’t know until him that passion could make you burn as well as burn you. Being with Caden was like being addicted to thrill-seeking adventures. You know there is a danger in it, and it makes your heart race and adrenaline pump into your body. Sometimes you nail it and the rush is breathtaking and amazing. Sometimes you miss, and there is fear and regret in your heart as you fall to the unforgiving ground.
After one particularly hard fall, I went home to Virginia for a long weekend. That was where I became reacquainted with my brother’s old college friend Connor. That’s when I learned that passion could be a slow, sweet burn.
And it could incinerate me and turn me to ashes.

I really liked this book even though the heroine was an immature pill who apparently can put men under her spell with a look. I just liked it. My mood when I read this was ready for a little angst and this was stuffed full of it. Both heroes, Cade and Conner, are strong males and neither is a push over when it comes to our little ding dong Darla. I will warn anyone who doesn't like the idea of cheating that it is in this over the top love triangle, but some who may not be so black and white about cheating will view it as a "gray area." The author doesn't condone it, you just have to come to your own conclusion of whether or not they were actually broken up. If you don't mind cheating in books and need a big old fashioned love triangle with big dose of angst, I recommend this book.

When you binge read a book that ultimately leaves you with a huge book hangover at the end of it, you know that you’ve had a damn good day. That’s exactly what I did and what I’m still feeling after finishing L.D. Davis’ latest release, Sift. This was a second coming, a revival to one of my all-time favorite reads, Accidentally On Purpose. A book that just did it for me in ways that I cannot fully explain. A series that ultimately put this author on a pedestal all on her own. Sift had my emotions in a riot. It retaliated against any semblance of sensibility I had to begin with. It’s so easy for me to remember the exact moment I fell in love with this book… It was instant. BOOM. 2 paragraphs into this thing and I knew. I knew the effect Darla’s story would have on me and even then, the after effects was so much more than I had anticipated. In my opinion, Sift is L.D. Davis’ best work to date. Her writing was concise, effective. She hit her trajectory right in the bulls eye.
The synopsis of this book alone tells you so I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to know that a love triangle would be brewing. Love triangles can bring out such varied intense emotions—excitement, spite, heartbreak. It’s why these sorts of story lines could either make it or break it for readers. However, I can wholeheartedly and genuinely say that if it’s written by L.D. Davis, it’s a surefire five star. This story line is what this author does best. A champion for angst and heartache, she will bring you to tears. She writes such amazing sets of characters that as a reader you find yourself so immersed in their story it’s almost like you’re living through them.
In Sift, the protagonist are all so incredibly well developed. Take for instance, Caden. Hero #1 with a bad boy exterior (we’re talking tattoos, piercings, and a no care attitude) who lives through his passion for his craft and most especially his hunger for Darla. But too much passion can be explosive and the explosion between Darla and Cade could blast through continents, leaving them no more than a pile of dust. They both love each other with so much fervor. So much that it becomes too much. There wasn’t ever a middle ground between them. It was either a beautiful high or a horrid low. As a reader you get to experience both of this with them and I quaked during each moment with Darla and Cade. My heart beats were erratic; they fueled my every sensation. I was as lost and addicted in their chaos as much as Darla and Cade were. There is no greater feeling for a literary masochist like me.
And then you have Connor… Hero #2 who had all the right moves. A good guy through and through, you can’t help but be swept away by him. An instant connection that eventually triggers the collapse of everything that Darla thought she knew, an end to the life she thought she was meant to live. He jars her and makes her realize that passion can exist without it becoming toxic. The chemistry between Darla and Connor had me feeling so high, I swear it was like my head was stuck in the clouds. It’s what falling in love should feel like—unadulterated. It’s finding the best version of yourself when you’re with them without losing “you” along the way. Connor was the swoon factor, he was the rainbow after the rain. An honest to goodness version of every woman’s dream man. It should be so simple right? Yeah… tell Darla that.
The eventual breakdown that ensues in Sift will have you reeling. Many times, too many to count, my breath hitched and I found my heart stuck in my throat the whole way through. L.D. Davis is so unbelievably good because she presents you with male protagonists like Cade and Connor. Two very different men—the devil and the angel who both somehow win you over just the same because at the very core, both are innately good. How do you choose between the two when at the very center of it all is the love that they hold for the heroine—a heroine whose shoes you’ve suddenly filled. This… THIS is what L.D. Davis does so well. She transcends you into someone you most relate to in her books. And in Sift, I was Darla. I dreamed of traveling and tasting my way through the world, I loved deeply a man who loved me too deeply that it became poison in my veins. I fell suddenly and unexpectedly in love with another who offered me my dreams without a second thought to how it may benefit him. I was Darla. I was confused and torn apart. I didn’t know which way to go until I did. Until Darla knew the direction she would take her life in. Whoa, right? Huge breath, I found myself having to take in many of those too. A way to survive until the author had said everything worth telling and there was so much of it. I loved it. Each one left an impression which could never be washed away.
Sift is indisputably a book shelf worthy book. It belongs amongst all my other best read books. It is full of emotions, so much that it spills infinitely from its pages. L.D. Davis needs to become that author for everyone. She is deserving of it and her stories and the characters that live in them deserve it. If you’re looking to be moved – to tears, to love, to insanity… To the very pages of the book itself then I implore you to get yourself a copy of Sift because I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

L.D. Davis is an auto buy author for me after reading her AOP series plus the spin offs, and I was eagerly waiting the release of her next book.
Sift is told solely from Darla's POV, and as the synopsis suggests, has a love triangle ( which is one of my favourite type of reads). Just like AOP, this is an explosive love triangle with twist and turns and unexpected outcomes.
Darla was a headstrong and fiercely independent young woman who wanted to travel the world while learning her craft to become a top chef. She loved Caden with whom she had had a very volatile, on again off again relationship for the best part of 5 years.
Caden was a chef with his own successful restaurant. He was tattooed and pierced and loved Darla from the moment he first met her. He needed her like the air he breathed, was possessive and became completely irrational when it came to Darla.
During one of their breakups Darla visits her home town for her sisters baby shower and meets Connor, who is calm and gentle and the complete opposite of Caden. She realises that she is a different and better person when she isn't with Caden but her love for him is undoubted and that's what made it all the more difficult.
Darla knew what she was doing wasn't right, and I had to giggle at the way she rationalised her behaviour to herself, knowing like she did that it was a train wreck waiting to happen. Boy was it ever!
I loved not knowing (much like the heroine for most of the book) if Darla was going to end up with Caden, Connor or alone.
So in a love triangle you need to pick a team right? So which team was I? Well I was team undecided!! I loved both Caden and Connor and I was happy with how it worked out.
There were a few times where the relationship dynamics between Darla, Caden and Connor reminded me of Emmy, Kyle and Luke from AOP - sigh, but overall this story and the characters were completely different. But if you loved AOP this book is for you.

Definitely not the best I've read by LD which makes me sad cause she usually knows how to bring on the angst. Don't get me wrong I wanted to get to the end of the book I was curious what would happen. But then it just kept falling flat for me.
I found myself way more interested in Cherry.
And I totally wanna know her dads and Daisys back story.

Small town girl, Darla, a baker savant, moves to the big city and begins an intense on again, off again relationship with successful restaurateur Cade they’ve been playing this game for years, It’s clear that these two people deeply love each other, but their relationship also feeds their insecurities and when tempers bring situations to a boil they bring out the worst in each other, leaving the burning question, is love enough?
After a particularly nasty break up, a determined Darla heads back home for a break and to clear her mind, there she meets Connor and sparks fly, but falling into a relationship while you’re still extricating yourself from another can make things awfully messy and boy do things get messy!
It’s a fact that I just enjoy the way LD Davis tells a story, no one is blameless and the characters are far from perfect, some readers, I’m sure will be offended that LD Davis doesn’t paint her characters as good or bad, just human, most people make bad choices at some point in their life, It doesn’t necessarily make that person evil or bad and that to me is the strong point of this author, she’s able to show the realness of situation, without making characters out to be a monster or unsympathetic.
Julia Farhat did a good job of narrating this eleven-hour audiobook, her pacing of the story was perfect and she did an excellent job voicing several characters of diverse backgrounds, southern drawl, Hispanic, she did them all well. I just wish she would have voiced the main character a little bit older, she sounded just on the cusp of girlishness. I noted it but was able to quickly move past it.
Get this audiobook! I can’t wait for the next story… I hope there’s another book because I want to know what happens with Darla’s roommate!

I loved Sift from beginning to end!!!!
No one tells a story like L. D. Davis tells a story. Sift is no different than any of her other masterpieces. Well there is a difference, Darla Simpson's story revolves around her passion- baking, pastries and traveling around the world eating its fruits. There's something about food, the making of such, that is just an aphrodisiac to me. I'm not a fan of re-summarizing the summary as a review, so I will note on what I loved about Sift.
I loved the vulnerability of each character, the heroine's constant pursuit of fulfilling her dreams. The reality that no matter how much you plan something, life happens, plans are altered.
I sympathized with Darla throughout the entire book. I loved Cade and then I LOVED Connor. I loved them differently just like Darla realized she did.
I loved Darla's relationship with her family, her father, her stepmother, her bestie Cherry. I loved the realness of this book.
From all of the books I've read, Sift's Epilogue is one of my favorites. It made me smile, it made me tear up, just beautiful magic.

This story was amazing.
This story was heartbreaking.
This story was astounding.
This story wrecked me.
It had me reaching for the tissue time and time again because I was crying so hard. It's what I've come to expect from L.D. Davis. She was so convincing. She sold me on how deep and binding true love was; and I was buying it hook line and sinker. I was rooting for everyone to win and then she broke my heart. She had me on an emotional high throughout the book.
Darla, Caden and Connor lit up the pages from beginning to end. Their love for each other runs deep. it was sweet, it was hard, it was messy. Darla was on a journey to discover who she was. What she found out is that, you could love someone so much that you'd put your dreams and ambitions on hold to make them happy. She also found out that loving someone so deeply sometimes hurt and it's sometimes messy.
This book will bring you to tears. It has two sexy lovable alpha males, a feisty heroine and a whole lot of steam. I loved everything about it and would recommend it.

This is my first book by this author and i tell you what this story kept me in its grasp long after i had to put it down to return to everyday life. I adored our central female (Darla) she is so strong both emotionally and physically she goes through a big transition in this story to find out what she is worth and what she deserves. She is a passionate character and one who knows when she has made a mistake as sometimes it is hard when the heart and head battle together. Connor is totally adorable book boyfriend i do not want to spoil anything about him so that is all i will say on him, trust me you will like him. Caden i can see where the attraction is especially for Darla they have that same fiery passion but as we all know getting too close to the flames can prove dangerous to our physical and mental selves. Fantastic read, will be looking into more work by this author as she amazed me with this book.

I couldn't put this book down once I started it . When you're young you have dreams , things you wish to come true .Darla had dreams to cook her way through the world but she met Caden and started a passionate love affair , her dreams were put on hold for him . In her heart she wanted more , even though she thought she had it, but then she met Connor. Two loves one passionate and sometimes violent and one true and supportive . Which did she choose. I know what I wanted Darla to choose the journey of her making that choice is what this book is about. Darla reminded me of what it is to be young and want everything when you really have to grow up and make a choice and choose what's good for you.

Where do I begin? Sift started off appealing to every emotion possible... and ended the same way. This story has me on an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed,cried, became angry,shocked, and paralyzed as i read. It's important to know this is not just a love triangle storyline. There is so much between the pages family issues,abuse issues, depression, and the blended family angle was fantastic. This book is for anyone who loves complex characters and intense storylines. If you shutter at real life circumstances such as fighting and good people making bad decisions,you might not enjoy. If you are like me and love all of the above this book is for you.

May 13, 2017I hate doing this, but I can't finish this. I hate the heroine, she's so immature, I don't care what happens to her.
Also, if you're going to add some spanish into the book, please make sure to carry out proper research beforehand about the meanings/translations of the words you're using. 'Mierda' it's not 'fuck', it means 'shit'. And if you ask someone 'Cómo estás?' it's highly unlikely that the other person is going to reply in a formal way ('Bien, y usted?') if you're not using formal language to start with.
(I can overlook the last one, I'm just really done with this book).

And if you ask someone 'Cómo estás?' it's highly unlikely that the other person is going to reply in a formal way ('Bien, y usted?') if you're not using formal language to start with.

Enjoyable read. Connor was a super sweet guy. Didn't say a bad word but about 5 times lol. Cade was something else but Darla knew where her heart was. Loved how both guys came through for her during her down. Let's see where LD goes with Cade. That'll be interesting.

I did start to read this book in earnest, and it gripped me in the pleasant way Penny Reid's writing captures your attention and takes you along. However about twenty or thirty pages in the beginning I could tell the direction it was taking me, and since love triangles generally leave me feeling frustrated, sad, and unresolved, i just skipped to the very last few pages, only to make sure what happens in the end. I'm certain that if you don't mind triangles you would love this book. The writing, the character developing, the conversations, the chemistry sizzling off the pages, L. D. Davis knows what he or she is doing. The story and the writing gripped my attention to the extent, that had the ending been to my taste, I'd have made an exception and would have read the whole book. But it wasn't to be!
I don't know how to rate this book, do I rate the quality or my enjoyment of it? I don't like it when heroines go back and forth between two guys, or heroes for that matter. Cheating, or my definition thereof, love triangle, I think 3 and a half stars to be fair. It makes sense for the rating to be a balance between my taste, and the quality, right?

LD Davis always wrote a great book that make me feel things, butterflies, angst and sort of things. I also hate that there’s a subtle cheating element but the author don’t explore it more, how wrong it is for Darla. But I like it when Cade and Connor get angry at her. It started out great, so much better than the book I read before this, and that felt good. But then, by the 60ish% mark it went terribly wrong in all the possible directions.
The writing is good, so there's that, but that's about it.
I couldn't relate to or understand Darla at all. Dysfunctional, selfish and so very toxic, that midway through I realized that she doesn't deserve any of the two poor bastards. One not right in the head, the other sweet and kind, but none of them deserved to end up with Darla. Frustrating, infuriating, indecisive, that's Darla to you. I really loved that both of the guys came for her at the end, though.

When you binge read a book that ultimately leaves you with a huge book hangover at the end of it, you know that you’ve had a damn good day. That’s exactly what I did and what I’m still feeling after finishing L.D. Davis’ latest release, Sift. This was a second coming, a revival to one of my all-time favorite reads, Accidentally On Purpose. A book that just did it for me in ways that I cannot fully explain. A series that ultimately put this author on a pedestal all on her own. Sift had my emotions in a riot. It retaliated against any semblance of sensibility I had to begin with. It’s so easy for me to remember the exact moment I fell in love with this book… It was instant. BOOM. 2 paragraphs into this thing and I knew. I knew the effect Darla’s story would have on me and even then, the after effects was so much more than I had anticipated. In my opinion, Sift is L.D. Davis’ best work to date. Her writing was concise, effective. She hit her trajectory right in the bulls eye.

Hero #1 with a bad boy exterior (we’re talking tattoos, piercings, and a no care attitude) who lives through his passion for his craft and most especially his hunger for Darla. But too much passion can be explosive and the explosion between Darla and Cade could blast through continents, leaving them no more than a pile of dust. They both love each other with so much fervor. So much that it becomes too much. There wasn’t ever a middle ground between them. It was either a beautiful high or a horrid low. As a reader you get to experience both of this with them and I quaked during each moment with Darla and Cade. My heart beats were erratic; they fueled my every sensation. I was as lost and addicted in their chaos as much as Darla and Cade were. There is no greater feeling for a literary masochist like me.
And then you have Connor… Hero #2 who had all the right moves. A good guy through and through, you can’t help but be swept away by him. An instant connection that eventually triggers the collapse of everything that Darla thought she knew, an end to the life she thought she was meant to live. He jars her and makes her realize that passion can exist without it becoming toxic. The chemistry between Darla and Connor had me feeling so high, I swear it was like my head was stuck in the clouds. It’s what falling in love should feel like—unadulterated. It’s finding the best version of yourself when you’re with them without losing “you” along the way. Connor was the swoon factor, he was the rainbow after the rain. An honest to goodness version of every woman’s dream man. It should be so simple right? Yeah… tell Darla that.
The eventual breakdown that ensues in Sift will have you reeling. Many times, too many to count, my breath hitched and I found my heart stuck in my throat the whole way through. L.D. Davis is so unbelievably good because she presents you with male protagonists like Cade and Connor. Two very different men—the devil and the angel who both somehow win you over just the same because at the very core, both are innately good. How do you choose between the two when at the very center of it all is the love that they hold for the heroine—a heroine whose shoes you’ve suddenly filled. This… THIS is what L.D. Davis does so well. She transcends you into someone you most relate to in her books. And in Sift, I was Darla. I dreamed of traveling and tasting my way through the world, I loved deeply a man who loved me too deeply that it became poison in my veins. I fell suddenly and unexpectedly in love with another who offered me my dreams without a second thought to how it may benefit him. I was Darla. I was confused and torn apart. I didn’t know which way to go until I did. Until Darla knew the direction she would take her life in. Whoa, right? Huge breath, I found myself having to take in many of those too. A way to survive until the author had said everything worth telling and there was so much of it. I loved it. Each one left an impression which could never be washed away.
Sift is indisputably a book shelf worthy book. It belongs amongst all my other best read books. It is full of emotions, so much that it spills infinitely from its pages. L.D. Davis needs to become that author for everyone. She is deserving of it and her stories and the characters that live in them deserve it. If you’re looking to be moved – to tears, to love, to insanity… To the very pages of the book itself then I implore you to get yourself a copy of Sift because I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

This was a really good read!
She had an on again off again boyfriend. Her first true love. But he was violent. Not to the point that he hit her but rather when they got into a fight, he would push her or grab her so hard that he would leave bruises.
She meets a guy who shows her that love doesn't have to be that crazy.
Unfortunately when ex-boyfriend finds out, he goes crazy and changes the course of her life!

A young country girl has big dreams of traveling the world wanting to taste all the foods from around the world. One guy stood in her way of achieving those dreams while another guy pushed her towards her dreams.
This story had unexpected twists and turns going from an epic live to a volatile love to a cheating love to a love between two guys.
At first I was bothered by all the culinary, baking, and food dialogue. I know it’s titled Sift, yet some of the food scenes felt forced.
Overall: Darla wasn’t a character I was rooting for. In fact, I was rooting for Connor. I was disappointed with the way Caden’s character was portrayed. The initial meeting was so different from what he evolved into. The volatile nature of his character was unexpected considering it was limited to a few scenes, but then sometimes people bring out the worse in you. I couldn’t figure out why three men in her life felt the need to take care of her financial needs. This bothered me more than it should have. Darla kept wanting to do things on her own and pay her own way and there’s nothing wrong with asking for help, yet the way the finances were handled were extreme.
I didn’t like how Connor and Caden were compared to each other. They fit in different ways and were essentially a good match from the start. However, one man allowed growth while the other was content with his life. I was torn by the beginning of Caden and Darla’s relationship with all the positive words being made to have it all change so drastically.
I’m disappointed by the circumstances created to resolve a problem for Darla’s character rather than her working it out on her own. This was a set of circumstances that led to two people meeting and falling in love. It just didn’t seem Darla was capable of achieving her own dreams had she not met a guy willing to help her achieve them. I would have liked to see her be on her own for awhile without the help of the men in her.
Narrator: Julia Farhat is the solo performer in Sift. I’m not jumping up and down with excitement over her performance. It’s read word perfectly and her tone was fine. I was hoping for more southern country accent during Darla’s performance. After listening to Julia perform this audiobook my view point has changed significantly. I should have left well enough alone and not bought the audiobook to revisit Sift. I went from loving this book to only mildly liking it. My perspective today compared to years ago is more critical of stories and characters. I’ve grown as a reader and my appetite for a good plot with developed characters has grown.

Darla was a young woman with a vision to become a baker extraordinaire. Her first vision was to live someplace other than her small part of VA - Augusta County. She meets a man on her journey - Caden. He was a chef with his own restaurant and she wanted to work with and or him, He turned her down but became entranced with her. Later their paths crossed again and her, he cooked for her , seduced her and became her lover. However, their relationship was not a healthy one.
A trip back to VA for her sister's baby shower leads her to something that is sweet and far different form anything she had known. She meets a sexy
young man by the name of Connor. She tries to resist him but he becomes her rescurer on so many levels. However, she was the epitome of one who torn between two lovers. With Caden and all his mess, she was drawn to him even though she had tried to break away on numerous occasions.
The story of her running and making the decision to get out of her unhealthy situation is held within these pages. Connor doesn't make an exit even though she runs. He pursues her and to have a relationship with her by any means.
At times I hated her for not being strong enough to make a choice between the two. Indecision is awful. However, I have been in her shoes and the choice is not easy when you are in love with two. So she stays on her merry go not knowing how to get off.
After a 4th of July trip to be with Connor, he decides that enough is enough. He tells her to leave. On her journey back she discovers that Caden in his pursuit to get her back as only his, has traveled to VA and knows she did not go home.

They have an all consuming love that can often be complicated, frustrating and confusing for Darla. On a weekend home to bake a cake for her sister's baby shower, she meets Connor. Their meeting creates the intense love triangle covered throughout the story. Darla spends a weekend with Connor confessing her love for him. She also confesses to him her relationship with Caden, creating the catalyst that brings her dreams to a screeching halt. Darla gets her happily ever after.
My Thoughts ya'll:
Darala's character was unique and refreshing. She was well developed and you can easily recognize her strengths and her flaws. She was funny and witty as well as being vulnerable. There were times I wanted to roll my eyes at her, but that just goes to show L.D.'s writing is amazing and as real as a fictional character can get. L.D. Davis has been an author that I've enjoyed reading since "Accidentally on Purpose". If you haven't read it yet...do it. Her writing style has a great pace and is never to slow. It's an engaging storyline and entertaining as well. There are just the right amount of love scenes (or should I say sexy time) between Darla and both Connor and Caden. I personally didn't care for the ending, which is why I give it a 4 out 5. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel all of the epilogue timelines were unnecessary. I tended to gloss over them. This was a great book that had me laughing out loud and crying, especially during the scene with her Dad on his porch. A definite must read.

Sift is a must read!!!! Darla left her small town with a plan and big dreams, but five years later she is still living in Philly and is in a toxic relationship. One of the things that I love about this book and this author is that in this story, domestic violence is addressed and both parties are willing and able to acknowledge and take responsibility for their individual actions. Now please do not think that I am saying that Darla deserved what happens to her but what I am saying is that in toxic relationships things are not always black and white.
Darla, Caden, and Conner are amazing characters individually & together they will take you on one emotional rollercoaster. There will be times where you are going to want to shake Darla but as you take this journey with her, you are going to see that she is just a young girl trying to find her place in the world while discovering the true meaning of the word love.
Caden is a HOT bad boy with a little hint of something special. When he opens up to Darla, it’s going to blow your mind and make you want to demand a happily ever after for him. Wow!!! What an intense, passionate, heartbraking and beautiful read from LD Davis. I was totally taken in by this story within the first few pages and hooked until the very end.

so I literally couldn't put this book down till it was finished!!
every emotion was felt while I read this book. I loved and occasionally hated the characters during their story. In the end although i didnt like how they treated each other, I reached a certain level of understanding to their behaviour and how they tried to find their own kind of happiness.
The story had me wondering if Darla was ever going to fulfil her dream of travelling the world and find true happiness. If cade or Connor would be there by her side.
the book is jam packed full of strong characters and I can see a possibility of a spinoff book using 2 of them. I would love to read more about them with a possibility of a hea I think they deserve it.
I would recommend this new read in fact I have already send some messages to get it added to tbr list
every emotion was felt while I read this book. I loved and occasionally hated the characters during their story. In the end although i didnt like how they treated each other, I reached a certain level of understanding to their behaviour and how they tried to find their own kind of happiness.

This book Sifts through all the clumps and unneeded items to make the perfect dessert. This book made me cry, twice. It really made me think. You wonder why this touch me so much and why did L.D. found joy in breaking me, lol?
Because she could and this book was so...so... relatable. I felt like I was living Darla's life, like I was inhaling flour. It was difficult to breathe but such is life at times.
You saw Dar having to make some real adult decisions, but this chicka, she did it and we were lucky to see the experience.
Please know that Dar took me high and I would understood her decisions in life, like I really got it, then she took me low and I understood that also.
But (we) did it. It was messy but perfect. I loved the book, messy and brokenhearted but I loved the hell out of this story.
