Jess is on the hunt for the vicious cold-blooded killer, Trent Bellamy. Bellamy has eluded him for a long time, but he knows Jess in on his tail. Bellamy sets up an ambush for him and shoots Jess off his horse, but seconds before Bellamy finishes him, he kills Bellamy.

Left for dead on the trail, Dr. Phil Johnston and his daughter, Willow, come across him on the ground, unconscious and barely breathing. Willow knows a lot about Jess and his reputation. They load him and Bellamy into their wagon and take him to the town of Cooper, where Willow nurses him back to health.

While there recuperating, a slick-looking man comes to town in search of Jess. He intends on killing him as a revenge killing, but the bank in Cooper gets robbed by some thugs who belonged to Bellamy’s gang. During the robbery, Willow gets shot along with the marshal in town.

Jess leaves Cooper the next day after the robbery in search of the two men who robbed the bank. The gunslinger who vowed to kill him, Abel Winburne, volunteers to ride with Jess in search of the robbers. Then, the marshal, who was wounded in the robbery, agrees to let the two hired guns that Jess threatened to kill when they were beating up a young boy in the middle of the street join the posse.

Jess finds himself leading a posse made up of two hired guns that don’t like him, a wounded marshal and a gunslinger who has promised to kill him when the robbers are caught and the money is returned. The ride is long, frustrating and seeming hopeless as they chase the robbers halfway across the state of Texas. As the pursuit continues, he worries if he’ll get shot by the robbers or one of the men involved in the posse.

A close call.

Jess almost died by an ambush but was doctored by Willow. He got well and made a lot of new friends. He went on the trail of three bad men and sent them to meet the devil.

FROM ENEMY TO FRIEND

What started out as a revenge for a childhood friend, eventually turns into hopefully friends for life. Even though the plots are some what the same, it still makes an enjoyable adventure. Jess almost gets a DIRT BLANKET(not good) ambushed and outwitted by a man he was chasing. Left in the desert badly wounded; he was rescued by a town doctor and his daughter returning from a house call. Actually I don't think he would have been rescued if wasn't for his two wonderful horse's Sharps and Gray who refused to abandon him. The couple saw the two horses and wondered why they were there. Read this adventure and you won't be disappointed. You know the drill, keep your weapons oiled and within reach.

Another great book

I have always enjoyed reading the Jess Williams series, and will continue to do so. The character has developed into a good mixture of hero and harass. Mr. Thomas does a fantastic job of bringing this out. Never stop writing about Jess. There are many of us out here that can't wait for the next book.

Jess wins again

This one isn't quite five star material. I've read all of the others by Robert Thomas and for some reason I can't put my finger on, this story is missing something. Still a good read, just not great.

Another good Jess Williams western

Good story, plot was developed, had some good twists. Enjoyed the stories development. I knew how the story would end, I was curious how Jess was going to get it there.

Jess Williams

This was a little different from the others but still a very good story. It seems like Robert Thomas books are the only good westerns to read.
