Solomon prayed for wisdom. The blind prayed for mercy. Samuel prayed for guidance. Jesus prayed for all believers. These, plus 46 more powerful prayers of the Bible are included in Prayer that Has the Power to Change Your Life. Each encouraging reading highlights a prayer from the Bible, the context and background about that prayer (who prayed it, the circumstances surrounding the prayer), the outcome of the prayer, practical life application and inspiration for the reader’s own life, and prayer starters in the same theme as the Bible prayer. God invites us to pray in His name (John 14:13–14) and tap into the power that is His and His alone!
This author has the most astonishing gift of insight & of sharing the truths of our Jesus. It fills my heart when the author gives you words just meant for that particular moment. Peace, strength & wisdom from our Savior through this author. Beautiful ❤
"It can be a scary walk for those of us who have seen the light as well--but the joy should be worth the struggle"
This devotional style study on prayer is one of the most down-to-earth, simple, funny and honest books I've ever read on the topic of prayer. As I read it I almost felt like the author, David Mclaughlan, was sitting across the table from me with a cup of coffee discussing the different topics.
But don't let that fool you into thinking that it lacks depth or meaning - there are several quotable, journalable (yes I just made that up), and thought provoking quotes and explanations in this book.
I really enjoyed how he broke down each section/entry. Each "entry" is broken down into three parts: 1. A prayer from scripture and some discussion on the prayer. 2. The answer to that prayer in scripture. 3. Practical application and a prayer for the reader to pray regarding the particular topic.
This book would make a great gift for those who new believers or for those who just don't know what to pray during certain circumstances of life.

Prayer That Has the Power to Change Your Life: 50 Prayers from the Bible and How to Pray Them is a practical guide to praying for a specific need. It's not a book that you have to read in order. You can find a section that you need to pray about and jump to that section. For example, there's a prayer for a family united, a prayer for help against overwhelming odds, ad a prayer for undeserved mercy, just to name a few. Each chapter has a topic; for example ‘Lord I need you’ is for praying for help in a broken world. Then they give you an actual scripture and there's some commentary and then how God answered the prayer in biblical example. The chapter ends with a practical prayer. Overall I would recommend this book especially if you are interested in praying specific topics and are interested in different prayers throughout the Bible. I received this book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

This is similar to a Bible promises book only it is in a more expanded format. The table of contents can be used to find an area where you might need a bit of help or encouragement. If you turn to that page you will find the author has taken something from the Bible and expanded on what happened and then added a prayer. This method works best for me, and the added encouragement of reading about someone who experienced a like situation was very helpful.
I tried reading it as a daily devotional, but that method did not work well for me. Because each reading has a prayer, it isn't a book you would read from one end to the other either, although that may work for some people.
I think this a great book to have and it is one I will turn to often.
David McLaughlan is no prayer intercessor and for the readers of "Prayer that Has the Power to Change Your Life" that is a good thing because the prayers he offers in this book are casual, personal prayers for the reader to God. The "power," though, within these pages are McLaughlan's practical exposition of Biblical accounts and specific scriptures. These carry the book well to the end. Because of them, readers will be pleased.
