When the key to ancient knowledge is discovered it leads a group of former military men to a technological leap forward. The struggle to develop the technology leads the group directly into a headlong confrontation with the political and economic elite that want the technology all for themselves.
You know your reading and enjoying a book when you don’t want it to end. This was one of those times and definitely one of those wonderful books. It was an easy read, not too deep on the sci-fi side, though that doesn’t bother me. I loved the cross-theme of the book : part archeological find (Earth and Mars) along with the discovery of a “Rosetta Stone” master to assist with the transcriptions of hieroglyphs & symbols, part Military and part space travel with the help of alien technology. A fantastic blend of realism with true sci-fi has author a Kerry Howell at the top of his game. Thoroughly deserving of a five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star rating for this truly exciting start to this series. Can’t wait for the next book.
This story is a fantastic read and will lead to a superior series. K.Z. Howell creates a wonderful group of characters that meld seamlessly into the storyline. The environment developed throughout the story leads to an ending that leaves multiple plot line possibilities for the follow-up series. I am eager to read the next in the series to see where the characters go and what adventures they encounter. This story deserves a 5-star rating and is well worth a read. I recommend it to everyone.
This book reminds me of something that A.G. Riddle would write in that there are sweeping events but also a mysterious force that has overwhelming implications for humanity. Fans of hard sci-fi and space opera will surely enjoy this book. Personally, I enjoyed the reference to Mayan glyphs because they add an ancient element to a tech-heavy setting.
