I love to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since I discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, I ended my nomadic lifestyle to raise my two children. Now, my imagination is my only limitation on where I can go and my writing lets me escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner, and mediator.

If writing wasn't a priority, it would never get done.

WICKED PLAY: Part one is the first part in a sensual serial by Lynda Aicher. Easily, I got sucked into Cali's world of self-discovery and found myself excited to see what is going to happen next.

WICKED PLAY: Part one is the story Cali, a forty-four year old divorced mom of grown kids who is trying to discover her sensual side. She's recently and looking for the sexual satisfaction that she never got in her twenty year marriage. Her research leads her to The Den, an exclusive BDSM club in Minnesota and eventually in the hands of Master Jake.

Jake is a Dom and part owner of The Den. He is tasked with doing a final interview with a new sub and is blown away by Cali and her curiosity and desire to discover herself. The two scene together and neither one of them will ever be the same.

So, I really liked this one. It's a serial, so there is no resolution or anything but it didn't leave on such cliffhanger that I was ticked off or anything. I just can't wait for part two to come out. I felt like even though this was just a snippet of the entire series, that I was able to connect with both Cali and Jake.

The BDSM scenes weren't heavy and they seemed appropriate for where Cali was in her BDSM life. It wouldn't have made any sense for me for Cali to have been doing these extremely intense scenes when she's been vanilla up until two minutes ago.

So, WICKED PLAY: Part one was hit for me. I will definitely continue on with the serial and I look forward to seeing what's going to happen next. This is my first experience with this author but I definitely do not think it will be my last.

Grade: B

First off I want to note that this is a reissue of her previous Wicked Play series that consisted of 7 full-length novels. It looks to be the same stories only culled down dramatically. I can not say for sure if there have been any changes as I have not read the previous series but excerpts from both show them to be almost identical. I would love to hear from anyone who has read the previous series and is currently reading this one. I'm curious if there were changes made.

Wicked Play, part one, is an emotional full bodied story filled with twitchy sexual tension and erotically charged scenes. There are ten parts to this story that revolves around the club and various couples. Even though only 104 pages, Aicher builds a strong foundation for Aicher’s first couple’s sexual journey as she brings together a woman who’s looking to rediscover herself after ending a sexually dead marriage and a man whose inability to commit to anything speaks of dark issues in his past. The chemistry is outstanding and the eventual romance a foregone conclusion as the emotions that Aicher draws forth from both protagonists are intense and prophetic. Introductions to some interesting secondary characters and the BDSM club this world is built upon only adds to the sense of adventure that is felt while reading. A thoroughly enjoyable niblet though it ends way too soon.

And so begins the tale of Wicked Play and Cali Reynolds, a newly divorced, unfulfilled, mother, who applies for membership to the Den to find what she's never had, intimacy., a connection. She meets with Seth, one of the owners, and cannot quite explain what it is she wants, until he pushes her. Then, when all looks lost, she admits her desires.

Then she meets Jake. Jake has been asked to show her around. What's turned into a chore, turns into a night of passion and awakening for Cali. But she realizes that this is just a scene to Jake, and she runs. They end up running int0 eachother again, and eventually. Cali goes back. Is it more than a scene to him? Find out in book 2.Lynda Aicher has done a brilliant job ratcheting up the tension, sexual and otherwise!

This is the first book in a ten part series. It opens with a divorced woman Cali Reynolds who was married for 22 years now looking sexual touch and more, it is explained in the book and it makes sense why the divorce. She has gone to a BDSM club and has gone through the interview process only to feel that she is still going to be denied membership. If that should happen she does not know where she will turn to. Her two children are in college and at 44 years old she feels almost embarrassed being at this club going through with this possibility. With the outlook of a new beginning she is hoping for acceptance into the club. Jake McCallister is one of the partners in the club and is already looking at leaving the club for something else. When he is asked to take another look into the application of the new member and when he meets Cali something stirs inside of him that has not done so before. They spend her first night at club together and for her it is what she was looking for. For Jake he thought she would be like other women and he would not think about her again, but after two weeks he still cannot get her off his mind. A chance encounter happens at one of the partner’s condo’s place where a party is going on, and he runs into her again. He also meets her daughter. Wanting another night with her, he also wants her to be his submissive, his only submissive. Cali has a problem with that because she is a business owner, parent, and someone who does not like being told what to do outside of the bedroom. This story is just that a story seems to be a good one. I have not read any of the other books yet but if they are like the first book then I think they will all be good. My summary: Cali is a recent divorcee after a sexless marriage. Having never been able to fulfill her desires, she joins The Den, a sex club, with the intent of exploring her submissive desires. Jake, one of the founders of the club, is on the cusp of moving on to something else in life when he’s tasked with showing Cali around. What starts as a Scene becomes anything but typical as Jake wants more—for the first time ever.
My thoughts: Not great, but not the worst. I had higher hopes for a short and smutty novella. I enjoyed Lynda Aicher’s Boardroom series on audiobook, so I downloaded the Wicked Play series on Kindle hoping it’s similar. Maybe it’s because it’s not the audiobook, but it just didn’t measure up for me. I may or may not continue the series.

Books 1-10 tell the stories of three different couples who frequent The Den, a Minneapolis BDSM club.

The first two stories (books 1-5) were my favorites by far.

Books 1-3: Callie & Master Jake
Books 3-5: Master Deklan & Kendra
Books 5-10: Master Seth, Tyler, & Allie
Callie & Jake’s story is notable because they’re both over 40, tho the book basically says she has the body of someone 10 years younger and no stretch marks even tho she’s had 2 kids. I’m not sure that counts as “over 40.”

But the format, very very short novellas each costing 1.99, got old fast. I ended up feeling like I’d been suckered in to the set.

Received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

So I'm not sure where the author is going to take the next 9 installments (I could see another 2, but 9 seems excessive), but I enjoyed this one. Cali is venturing into the lifestyle for the first time and her guide becomes so much more than that after one scene.

I'm intrigued about Jake and the other owners of the Den, as well as more about Cali. It will be interesting to see how they overcome their hurdles to get to one another.

Has "to be continued" ending

Nothing pisses me off more than the words "to be continued" the author didn't use them but she might as mellow have when they are in the middle of a scene and the book ends. I will not be reading any more of the series because I believe in "one couple, one book"

Cali is a forty something newly divorced woman who knows she's been missing something in her life. She's not a hundred percent sure she's a submissive, but she wants to explore that option. She's just left a marriage without any heat or even affection. She's been deprived for what seems like forever and wants to try something different. She joins The Den, the most exclusive BDSM club in town to see what she really wants.

Jake is part owner of The Den and when Cali shows up looking lost but intrigued, he gives her a taste of what she thinks she wants. After a couple of scenes, both Cali and Jake are dumbfounded with how they feel about the other. Jake is at a cross-roads in his life and Cali complicates it a bit more. Now he only wants Cali and no one else. Will Cali agree to submit to only Jake?

Wicked Play is the first book in Lynda Aicher's series of the same name. It's intense and fun and wonderfully delicious!! Cali is a strong woman. She's raised a family at the expense of her marriage and her well-being. She is tired of always being in charge and running the show. She craves a man that will let her forget about it all and just feel. The connection between Cali and Jake is steamy and you could feel their electricity!! I can't want for the next book in the series!!

Review:
This book is hot. It seems to be a reissue of half of the book Bonds of Trust which is available in paperback. At the time of my writing this review, Part one is being sold for $0.00. If you want to get caught into this steamy BDSM novel, purchase this book. Be prepared however to want to go one click Part 2, because you will want to see how things turn out for Jake and Cali. The plot of this story has a frustrated, beautiful divorcee applying for membership at the most exclusive BDSM Club in the Twin Cities. Cali left her husband because they stopped being intimate seven years ago. She wants to explore the repressed side of her that wants to lose control to a Dom. When one of the co-owners of the club, Jake decides to take on her training, his walls start to come down. There is something about Cali that brings out more than the Dom in him, but Cali may not be willing to make the leap of faith and give into the trust that she feels for this Dominant man. The chemistry is good, you can tell that the want each other from the beginning. The pacing is steady and for a short 104 pages you get to read some steamy action. There is a cliffhanger which will continue in part 2. I would have prefered to read this story as a complete novel. There is not much in the way of character development, I will assume that will change in book 2. I definitely recommend this book especially while it is free on various books sellers.

Cali is forty-four and divorced. She’s also sitting in an office being interviewed, not for a job but to become a member of The Den, the exclusive BDSM Club. It wasn’t that her marriage wasn’t a happy one, it was – it gave her lovely children and her husband was her friend. But there was nothing else. No spark, no sex. Years of feeling undesired, years of feeling ashamed for the way she wanted a man to touch her – the things she wanted done to her... these things all led her here.

Jake is one of the owners of The Den. He may be a Master, but he prefers having clients rather than having a submissive of his own. He’s not the kind of guy that ever stays put or looks forward to a future beyond the present. But when he sees Cali he knows that he has to be the one to gain her submission.

As Jake takes Cali on her journey of sexual awakening, he experiences his own needs being met in a way he never expected. As he breaks Cali down and exposes her true need for submission and her need to feel a man’s touch it wakes up something in him that he never knew existed. His need to claim.

Just as Cali begins to embrace the relationship she has formed with Jake, an event occurs that brings back all those feelings of shame for her desire. Jake finally let someone in, he was ready to do the one thing he was sure he would never do; and in one moment everything crashes down. These two both came so far, both teaching one another about intimacy, trust and love; all these things came easily now they both must fight their own doubt to regain it all.

I’ve sat on this series for a while and wasn’t sure what to expect from it. I figured this would be just another BDSM story where the D/s fall in love and all is cured... but I was not expecting her story. Cali’s story was heartbreaking and in the moments when she was able to voice her true feelings; being broken down in a way to finally admit the things she never gave a voice to before, was beautiful.

Although this is a BDSM romance, the whole D/s was done in a subdued way. I never felt like I was reading something that was just filled with kink for the sake of kink. The story really fell to the forefront of this and the erotic nature of the scenes were done in a way that kept it steamy, but allowed the story to really remain the focus.

Since their story ends with book one of this series, I would have liked a bit more story on Jake – his past is touched on briefly but not elaborated on. He seems to be the more unsettled out of the three men, so I was expecting more a holy shit moment when it was revealed.

The other characters remained cloaked enough to offer some intrigue but I did not find myself really caring about anyone outside of the bubble of Jake & Cali. I usually love it when I can connect with all of the characters of the story, but in this case I really didn’t need it. I am looking forward to continuing this series, and love that these are companion novels rather than continued character novels.

"Wicked Play" is a ten-part series about the most exclusive BDSM club in Minneapolis called "The Den." There are three co-owners, Seth, Deklan and Jake, all of whom are Doms, and all of whom have different roles in the club. This story is about Jake and Cali Reynolds, a forty-four year-old divorcee who left a marriage where her husband refused to have sex with her, and who has come to The Den because she feels that she is a submissive in the bedroom if nowhere else.

I am of two minds about this novella. On the one hand, it is scorchingly hot, well-written, if not perfectly edited, and it was fun to read. On the other hand, it is so short that we get very little character development, which is a pity as I think the back stories of the characters would or could be very interesting indeed. Will there be more character exposition in the rest of the series? Since all of the succeeding parts are also short I have to wonder. This is a BDSM book, but this particular part was more BDSM-lite, which appealed to me.

One thing I do not like is the fact that all of the other nine segments have to be purchased separately. In my opinion, this brings the cost of the whole series to that of a hardcover book or even more, and frankly, it makes me feel taken advantage of. I know why authors do this, of course, but it doesn't make it any more palatable. I would like very much to know what is going to happen to Jake and Cali, as well as to Seth and Deklan, but I am going to wait until the box set comes out at a reasonable price.

I am giving this book five stars because for what it is it is excellent. I wish it had been longer, and richer, because I would have liked more of everything, but within its limits it delivers what it promised.

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I got this book on Netgalley for an honest review, and even though it's a part 1 out of ten and that usually comes with a short story that doesn't add up to anything, it was actually a good book.
http://thesecretworldofbooklovers.blo...
The story was captivating, and most importantly it had a good Dom, why is that important? well, a lot of books just give us a hot guy who commands but it's so much more than that. The Dom needs to connect with his submissive like Jake did, and own her.
He focused on what she needed and that made the scenes deeper and more intimate.

Jake's character took her to a place where she was free, where her mind was not focusing on anything other than pleasure and we felt it through the pages.

Cali was also portrait perfectly, she was the shy inexperienced sub who had all of her desires hidden and slowly let them break free, it was something amazing to watch through the pages.

This story has a lot of potential and I can't wait to know what happens next.

Lynda Aicher land

Ohlalala I'm in a Lynda Aicher land, she has me captivated and craving her books, as soon as I finished one I want the next.......and I don't let anything get in my way.

This is a story about Cali who's newly divorced from a man that didn't want sex and now she seeking what she missed in her marriage at a BDMS club and there she meets Jake, a Dom not interested in connecting with any woman.

You all know how it goes if you're a reader of romance. This could have been a cliché story but Aicher has a way of bringing that extra feeling in to the books that get you captivated from the beginning. The insecurity in Cali and the attraction Jake feels towards her is coming trough so honest and raw.
There is no unnecessary description of surroundings, just a plain and simple story told in an excellent way.

This story got me to forget about everything other than to read and I'm definitely going to read the rest of these wicked books.

Cali is a recently divorcee who was never satisfied in her relationship. Now she's joining a Dom/Sub Club, so she's try the things that she wanted to with her husband with someone else. She's not really sure that she wants to go through with it. But when she meets Jake, everything changes. Will she give herself freely to him?

Jake is a Dom, who is getting ready to leave the lifestyle. But then he meets Cali, when he interviews her. Now his plans might be taking a little detour. Will he be able to walk away and leave her in this lifestyle without him?

This is my first time reading this author and I loved it. I could not put the book down. I loved the way the story flowed. It was so realistic. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to others.

Wicked Play erotic romance explores a woman's new path after leaving a "passionless" marriage. I wouldn't exactly say Cali's found love again, but she's definitely exploring her options. I've always enjoyed Ms. Aicher's sensual style, but this time around it all feels very familiar i.e. generic bdsm D/s, except this time instead of the innocent ingenue, we have the sophisticated career woman but she's just as naive. I like the change up, but the emotion was lacking for me. Feelings become just lip service and I didn't find the characters engaging, maybe because the chemistry was a little tepid when the couple was vertical. Since this is a ten-part series I expect more feeling, but not sure if the storyline is intriguing enough to keep with it.

Wicked Play part 1 introduces Cali a divorced mid-forty year old women looking to rediscover sex after leaving a husband who had no interest in a sex life & Master Jake the Dominate. Cali seeks an exclusive membership in a BSDM club called The Den to explore her hidden desire to be submissive. Cali & Jake find there is more to their scenes then either of them was prepared for. Cali learns that it all revolves around trust & letting go.

The book is written with a great detail & insight to the lifestyle on a basic level. There is steamy, sticky, hot sex going on in this book so it is not for the faint of heart. I would recommend this book. It is a hot & quick read.

This was a really well written erotic romance story with a lot of positives and one major negative.
I liked that Cali was an older woman with erratic emotions and insecurities but a strong determination. I liked that Jake is a hot Dom but also has human flaws. The writing was fluid, emotional, well paced and the story is well set up for the future. The one thing that let this down was that it isn't a complete story, but is a first instalment that just ends in the middle of the story. I personally would recommend buying the full-length book which has the complete story. This is a good writer but I think a ten part series seems excessive to me and If I do read more it will be the full length books. But to each her/his own.

Wicked Play (Part 1 of 10) by Lynda Aicher This is a free book on Kindle and the first installment of a ten-part serial. This is a very sexy book, dealing with sexual kinks, dominance and submission, and a older heroine searching for her own sexuality after rejection by her husband and the ensuing divorce. It's exceedingly well-written with a great deal of emotion. I hope to finish the serial at some pont.

Book was fantastic. I love that it was talking about man or woman's name herself. I honestly found the story to be very fulfilling very detail-oriented. I like that even though they're adults they're still growing and that there are others around them helping them be the person that they need to be.
