I appreciate ANY critical writing on Asian womxn in the US (as we’re still fairly invisible in this country). This reader has some really great pieces on, for example, patriarchy within the Asian Am community. But as a whole, the anthology is underwhelming. The essays don’t flow well with each other; writing styles clash; one topic doesn’t enhance the next; editing, formatting, layout is sloppy (e.g. diff font sizes). There are gems in here worth reading. But I’d say unless you’re a researcher willing to wade through the mess to find them, it might not be worth your time.
