My name is Jenna Solitaire, and I am the Keeper of the Boards. With the elements of Air and Water at my command, I now go in search for the most dangerous Board I have sought so far--the Board of Fire.
From the searing desert of the Middle East, Jenna and Simon travel to the ancient city of Pompeii, following the clues to the hiding place of the Board of Fire--also known as the Board of the Flames. But Peraud is hot on their trail, and is more determined than ever to claim the two Boards the Keeper already possesses. Jenna must also contend with her growing attraction to Simon, who is torn by his desire for her--and his sacred duty to the Church.

Jenna Solitaire was raised in Ohio, and now lives the life of a vagabond, searching the world for the next Board. When she was nineteen, she learned that she was the Keeper of the Boards, and her life has been filled with magic and mayhem ever since. With Simon Monk, she continues to travel the world and learn about the Boards of Babylon. She believes that sharing her story with others is important and plans on continuing to do so for as long as she can....
This book is by far one of the best in the series yet. In this book Jenna, still impacted by the events in Perta, is struggling with Simon and her feelings for him. Simon, as always, acts oblivious to her, since he is a man of the cloth. This book tells the tale of the search for the anything but submisive board of flames. One good thing that this book also does is that it introduces a few new characters, and clears that fog on some shady areas.
Another wonderful book in the Daughter of Destiny series. Jenna is learning more about the boards, what it means to be the Keeper and about herself. She is maturing and changing as her struggle to control the boards continues.
Can not wait to read the final book and see how this all works out.
This was one of the first book series I ever read. And tbh, since then I have read it once or twice more. It was so long ago that I barely remember how it was written, I just know that I enjoyed it. It made me cry and laugh and it did captivate me. Just... ya know, in 2006, when I was... 13. :/
Another nice quick read. This series is starting to move along. The mystery & intrigue begins although it is mostly predictable. One left....let's see what happens.
