A great intro to the mostly Western school-of-thought on chakras. Simple and straightforward, it does the trick of letting the reader feel both satisfied that they’ve learned enough yet like there still is more to delve into if they so choose on their own.

I’m giving this an additional star for being so unintentionally funny. Highlights include:

Oh so you’re type 1 diabetic? Have you tried opening your solar plexus chakra? Pretty sure that’s the problem.

You’ve heard of the water cycle, but what about the cycle where earth converts your anger into white light?? Pretty sure we skipped that section in my radiative processes class :/

D.A.R.E. to not do drugs because they’ll ruin your third eye

The human energy field. Can I know more? Is it a scalar or tensor field???

When I learned my cat died from sacral chakra dysfunction, not kidney failure ://// dang cat could have just meditated

The phrase “the human urge to procreate is part of the dance of the sacral chakra”

The Earth chakra - if you’re an astronaut and you land on a different planet, do you get a different chakra for that planet or does your chakra line just get super long?

My daughter for me this book as I’ve been wanting to learn more about crystals, oils and chakras. Really great book. Learned a lot and highlighted a lot.

Very nice introduction to chakras; it was definitely formulaic in the way it was written, which I didn’t mind terribly, I just would have preferred less of that. It was a nice surprise having exercises and meditations associated with each chakra!

First book of 2023. Increasing my learning for my yoga practice with some corresponding reading. I really enjoyed the breakdown of the book, with matching mediations/exercises for each chakra as well as a series of mediations/exercises at the end of the book for specific issues you might be having in your life. Can't wait to put some into practice.

I loved the practical and stray forward of it. It's simple and to the point, it gives you answers, guidance, and exercises to improve your energy field.
I'll definitely be going to purchase it for future references!

I read another book in this series, the Little Book of Mantras, and have some similar comments for this one—seems a bit rushed into production as I found some typos and errors that an editor should have caught, and starts to get real repetitive…enough that it seems almost like a “copy and paste and change a few words” job, the type you’d find from desperate undergrads trying to pass their English 101 class. It’s unfortunate, also, that the book decided to use the same visual at the start of each chapter instead of using a different one which highlighted where the chakra being described is located, or the symbols in the colors that they were discussing. Seems a wasted opportunity, and makes the one image in the book feel slapped on instead of actually there for a reason. The mantra book has other designs and made use of colors etc., so I know it’s not just the series. It also had more resources in the back, and a website with further information—none of which the book on chakras has. Finally, while I know it’s called “Little Book of” and I wasn’t expecting a deep analysis, it felt pretty light on details the whole way through. I had been looking for something to give me a better understanding of chakras, and after reading through this whole book I feel the need to go look for another. If you have a real passing fancy, nothing more, then maybe this’ll work for you. Otherwise, I’d look somewhere else to get more in-depth information.

The introduction sums this up well. The author basically says Chakras are an ancient Eastern idea, but this book is not about that. This book is about the Western tradition of Chakras which was invented a little over 100 years ago by occultists. To me this book does a fabulous job breaking down the western idea of chakras. There is a tiny bit about the Eastern traditions to give nod to the tradition and then it discusses the modern appropriation which is completely different. This book is enlightening in a way, but it was unclear to me if that was the point. I will certainly be taking the time to learn more about the ancient philosophy now.

The Western tradition of Chakras may still be useful as a meditation tool that one can use for visualization. This book embarrassed me. I feel like it laid bare my ignorance on the subject. I might come back and edit this review once I’ve done some proper research on the subject.

I give it a 3 1/2.
It sure is an intro book with only 100 pages. For someone with no knowledge on the subject it is an interesting format. So why do I give it a 31/2 ? Because the meditations were, basically all the same.
And almost all the texts on each chakra started with almost exactly the same intro .. it felt like repetition at some point.. so you kind feel you want to skip some lines .
On sure thing that was really interesting is the last part of the book with the special quiz and the correspondant technique to help you solve yo problem if needed .

Someone looking to get more info on the subject, this is not what your are looking for I suggest you read instead wheels of life by Judith Anodea which has lot more matter. This writer is also well establish as an expert on chakras .

I am by no means an expert on meditation/energy healing, however, I am extremely interested in becoming more aware of myself and of my energy. The authors did an amazing job at explaining the general functions of the basic seven chakras, as well as a few additional chakras. They also give exercises for readers to complete in order to balance your chakras. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about their chakras and chakra meditation.

I’ve had the pleasure to meet with Amy during my early years of self healing work. I truly believe she is an incredible being who is truly gifted. She has once again made presence known in my life through this amazing book on chakras. Reminding me that our work is never done and that growth and development is a maintenance plan. And that it can be fun and easy too. I really enjoyed the exercises she suggests and was able to use them all for a beautiful lighting of my daily life.

I love these little books that teach you the very basics of things without feeling too overwhelming. I am not sure how accurate the book is but I did enjoy understanding the basics of each chakra. The reason I gave this book three stars is because of spelling or grammar errors. It feels weird to read such a small book with multiple errors. It makes it hard to trust the book and looks unprofessional.

Nice introduction to Chakras.
The book was in a format that was easy to read and follow. Had little exercises throughout the sections and a quiz at the end with additional exercises.
Went a little into detail about the history of Chakras within different groups. Obviously, this is a very vast topic and for a little intro I liked this book.

I recommend this book for those who want to learn about Chakras. These two really start this off with information about how Western and Eastern are different and that you should do your own research to find the beauty and truth.
I don't want to go further in Chakras out of respect for the Eastern practice, but with what I learned in this book, it was perfect.

Not quite as good as A Little Bit of Meditation. A significant amount of typos/editing errors, and a very superficial skim on chakras. Still, it’s a very accessible little book and a good place to start!

I recieved this book in one of my monthly subscription boxes. I am already well versed in the chakras but this book is a great reminder as well as a quick reference guide. The meditations and practices are perfect for beginners and experts alike.

A small volume like this is only meant to be an introduction to the subject which this is. If it makes you feel like a launchpad even better! Chakras explained simply with small exercises you can expand on...

Finally finished the last of these “A Little Bit Of...” books. This was ok, like the others, a large portion of this book read almost like a research paper. The quiz at the end was super cute though and I liked the exercises it suggested based off your answers.

This book was so so, I was expecting more information on chakras… That’s on me - I should’ve altered my expectations based on the title ‘A Little Bit’. I also wish they had gone mor into the Eastern practices and belief systems around chakras and not focused so much on the Western beliefs.

Bite-sized book about chakras (as the title indicates). Solid foundational book - will need to read a denser book after this to learn more.
