About the author

Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Ten tom idealnie wpisałby się do jakiegoś paradokumentu, które czasami przewijają się w TV.

Marit z Głodziska zawsze była odludkiem. Miała również umrzeć samotnie, ale pojawił się rycerz na białym koniu - Christoffer Volden. Z jakiegoś powodu chciał tę kobietę uszczęśliwić i wyznał jej miłość i jeśli wyzdrowieje - małżeństwo. No pech chciał, że nagle Marit ozdrowiała, a Volden tym samym powinien zrealizować to co obiecał.. gdyby nie to, że jest zaręczony z inną kobietą.

Książka jest prosta jak budowa cepa. Volden nie ma wyboru. Jeśli chce wyjść z twarzą to musi zrobić to co obiecał. Mamy również drugą stronę, w postaci innej narzeczonej i ona oczywiście jest zła, bo nie można stworzyć konfrontacji dwóch ciekawych z charakteru kobiet rywalizujących ze sobą tylko dostajemy sytuację zero-jedynkową: ona jest dobra, tamta jest zła. Nie kupuję tego wątku romantycznego, bo dla mnie to jest po prostu niepoważne i na siłę, żeby dołożyć kolejny tom do rozlazłej sagi. Tutaj nie ma żadnej konkretnej relacji ani uczuć, które mimowolnie popychają do zawarcia małżeństwa. Wszystko bazuje na rzuconej mimochodem obietnicy i ulitowaniu się nad biedną schorowaną kobietą, żeby chociaż przez chwilę była uśmiechnięta. Brakuje tylko melodyjki, przyśpiewki o trudnych sprawach oraz machnięcie portretu Voldena z żółtym paskiem "Chciał dobrze, a wyszło jak wyszło", "Zmuszony, by kochać inną", "Ma dwie narzeczone, ale musi wybrać jedną".

Podziękuję za takie zapychacze.

So... a hospital drama? And a love triangle?
Okay!

Surprisingly well written and every scene in the hospital, when surgeries and different kinds of medical operations happened always had me turning the pages. Christoffer was a really strong protagonist and one of the better one as of recent Ice People books.
The love interests, in Lise-Merete and Marit fit the story very well andI usually have A LOT against love triangles, but it worked surprisingly well here. But that comes to how well written Christoffer was.
And that leads to my main problem of the story.
Marit is probably the worst love interest of ANY Ice People novel in that she's out of it for about 80% of the book and there's no real character development here. I wanted more of it, but that's me being a character driven reader.
Someone who however got a lot of development was Sander Brink who showed up out of nowhere but boy was I glad to see him, he gave new life and an interesting twist to the story with both him and Benedikte being back and their relationship from book 31 evolving.

And I'm excited to pick up book 33, boy, I'm far into this series haha

I do this with every book I read in 2026, but if this had a theme song, it would be "The Cure" by Danny Rose. A song about love, and cures (with it being a hospital drama, ya know... okay, I'll see myself out with that one)

alternatywny tytuł: kłamczuszek rycerz krzysiu
alternatywny opis: krzysiu żeni się z trupem (który ostatecznie umiera trzy raz PRAWIE!!!, ale w sumie to żyje jednak), a podstępna blachara (jego druga narzeczona 🥳) nie daje za wygraną

- kolejna dość nudna część, przez którą ciężko było mi przebrnąć ze względu na postaci raczej bez charakteru/nierozwinięte w tym względzie prawie w ogóle
- baba umiera dosłownie trzy razy???
- sander. z n o w u. i to jeszcze gorzej niż przedtem.... ja mam się nad nim niby litować???
- krzysiu mnie trochę irytował - nie mógł się zdecydować czy kocha czy nie, bo tak właściwie jego przyszła żona leżała dobre ¾ książki nieprzytomna i półmartwa
- pamiętam, że dużo bardziej podobała mi się zw pierwszym czytaniem
- ok wątek szpitala i słodki wątek marco opiekującym się swoimi krewnymi z pomocą zwierzątek

była tak przeciętna, że w sumie nie mam ani plusów ani poważnych minusów (oprócz sandera)

Nie będzie to mój ulubiony tom, ale mimo to podobał mi się. W przeciwieństwie do poprzedniego nie był nastawiony na walkę z Tengelem Zły, a raczej na osobiste i sercowe problemy Ludzi Lodu. Wątek Marit i Christoffera jest bardzo ładny i uroczy, choć Christofferowi długo zajęło całkowite odcięcie się od poprzedniej narzeczonej, a jego sentyment do niej mnie bardzo irytował. Podoba mi się też to, w jakim kierunku poszedł wątek Benedikte, bo dziewczyna naprawdę zasłużyła na szczęście.

Pretty okayish book in general. It's about a doctor who without thinking got engaged with 2 women. Now he has to pick one.

Ebben a kötetben kevésbé ügyes volt Christoffer irányítása, nem győzött meg az író, hogy Lise-Merete olyan szörnyű, és C. nem is igazán szereti, ill. hogy Marit olyan csodálatos teremtés.

“Hunger” är definitivt inte den bästa i serien, men också långt ifrån den sämsta. Och en fördel med böckerna - rent allmänt - är ju att de är rätt snabblästa. Perfekt när man inte orkar engagera sig, men ändå vill läsa. 🙂

Marit i Svelten blev ensam kvar att ta hand om sin far när alla hennes syskon reser till Amerika för att söka lyckan. Det är knapert med mat i den lilla stugan mitt ute i skogen. När fadern dör hankar Marit sig fram. Hon är skygg och inte van att möta folk. När hon en dag får ett hugg av smärta i magen som inte vill ge med sig, ger hon sig av för att söka hjälp. Men hon kommer inte långt förrän hon stupar.

Två barn hittar henne halvdöd i skogen och hämtar hjälp. En av dem är läkaren Christoffer Volden av isfolket. När hon ligger på sin dödsbädd vill Christoffer göra hennes tid till ett lyckligt minne och säger att han älskar henne och lovar att gifta sig med henne.

Christoffer är redan förlovad med rikemansdottern Lise-Merete Gustavsen, vars far sponsrar sjukhuset där Christoffer arbetar. När Marit överlever och blir bättre, vet Christoffer inte vad han ska ta sig till.

Det här är en både spännande och intressant bok, som till större delen utspelar sig på sjukhuset där Christoffer försöker bota alla sjuka, oavsett om de är fattiga eller rika. Men de rikaste tycker att de ska gå före de som inga pengar har och hotar med att dra in sina bidrag om Christoffer fortsätter behandla alla jämlikt.

Jag tyckte mycket om den här boken, den fångade mig verkligen. Rekommenderar den varmt.

I can relate a lot to this novel. I have also in my youth been in love with men whom I only had a professional relation to. Not a doctor but a clergyman and several teachers, but those relationship are basically the same as with doctors-patients. The same mechanisms are involved: the professional person has to be nice, kind and considerate against everybody, and if you are lonely and starved of love, as Marit was, your feelings will play up very strongly. Of course, in reality the outcome will never be as in the Cinderella stories...

Marit of Svelten lived alone whole her life. When she was on a death bed Christoffer Volden wanting to give her a little bit of happiness in the last hour said he loves her and promised to marry her. When Marit against everything felt better Christoffer was horrified beyond recognitio. Honour of Ice People was forbiddin him to retreat from a promise, but he was already engaged to Lise-Merete Gustavsen.

This saga is so catchy and addictive, I can't stop reading it! In one day I finished Utysket (#30) and read two next parts xD
