“The name for the act was fitting. It definitely felt like I had been struck by Cupid’s arrow. The mystical bond that now tied me to her was strong and irrefutable: I was hers forever now. And I didn’t even know her name.”
Arrows are magical phenomena binding a wolf shifter to their soul mate. Already dealing with the attempted murder of his mother, increased pressures to become alpha, and the escape of a violent ex-pack member, Arrowing is the last thing on Noah’s mind. That is, until he Arrows on Sophia Rose, who with one look alters his life completely. Now on top of everything, he faces the challenge of pursuing a human who knows nothing of his world or the bond their souls share.
“I knew from the moment I saw Noah that he had the potential to rock my world. I just never imagined that it would happen like this: breaking down the very foundation of things I thought I knew to be true.”
At first, moving to a small Montana town to live with her estranged father seems like Sophia Rose’s best chance at a quiet normal life. However, after a verbal altercation in the park with a handsome stranger, Sophia finds herself taken down a path of seduction and secrets- pulled into a world that threatens the idea of the calm life she thought she needed.
Gryffin Murphy lives in Virginia with her husband and their two pugs, Bagels and Buster. She spends her days in overalls, trying to befriend the neighborhood crows and writing stories that warm the heart like the perfect cup of tea on a rainy day.
5/5 ⭐️ - My inner teenage girl is squealing in delight
I found Gryffin on TikTok and saw she was going through a tough time and was asking folks to read her books. When she gave the brief description, I thought “oh hell yes, I love shifters and this sounds like my Twilight years.” And BOY WAS I RIGHT! I am so excited to read the rest of this series. Noah gives golden retriever energy which I think is absolutely fitting. Sophia’s feisty attitude is matched well with her loyalty and love. This was a fantastic opener to a series - good world building, sets up the ongoing plot, good introduction to characters. Overall, I’m so happy I stumbled onto Gryffin’s page and I can’t wait to read more of her work!
When Sophie's mother dies, she has no choice but to move to Montana to live with her estranged father. She was not expecting to meet the infuriating, yet hot, Noah with the greenest eyes she's ever seen. After the frustrating encounter with Noah, Sophie can't seem to get him out of her head. When they run into each other again, the romance and heart break begin...
Noah is supposed to be the alpha of his pack. But he is reluctant to be the alpha after his father died. With his mother as interim alpha, she gets attacked. An infuriated Noah them meets a gorgeous girl in the park. He can't do anything but stare at her like an idiot. He arrowed. He found is mate. And he doesn't even now her name. Boy, is Sophie in for the surpise of her life.
There was nothing wrong with this book exactly. But it didn't grab my attention. I didn't feel very connected to the story or the characters. Had to struggle to finish. Noah was frustrating, but sweet I guess. I get that he was reluctant to tell Sophie about being a wolf shifter. But after he told her, he still didn't tell her about being mates. Really?? Why keep that a secret? She already told him that she loved him and that she wasn't going anywhere. I didn't think that it was that big of a deal. Now she is going to be mad at him for keeping it a secret for so long. Other than that I liked it. Benji and Milo were really funny. I got the feeling that Mike likes Sophie and wants to be more than friends. But there wasn't much about any of the other characters except Sophie and Noah. I get that they are the main characters, but I wanted to see more of the others! Like what is going on between Frankie and Connall? Oh well. I might read the second book, just to see what Sophie's reaction will be when Noah finally tells him about being arrowed.
This definitely follows the premise that most shifter books do. Male shifter meets soul mate. In Arrowed they refer to it as "arrowing". I do really enjoy the way this author writes. It is an easy & well written read that you can see playing out w/ out any confusion. Minimal typos. Here comes really my only issue with this book...it is written as if the main characters are in H.S. rather then young adults. They are in their 20's, of legal drinking age and go to college but they blush are niave about anything sex related. Not that I want a novel full of sex scenes, they just are not very mature. The banter and actions relate more towards 16 year olds then a girl who watched her mom die and a guy who is a potential alpha. They both are VERY dependent on their parents for being in their early 20's. There is even reference about Sophia being concerned her dad will ground her. Her dad who has been absent since her parents divorce and since her mom passed away who took in his college aged daughter. It just doesn't make sense. She's a legal adult...he can't ground her. Noah beats around the bush and keeps things from sophia and he has already graduated college...These characters REALLY need to grow up and act the age the author has them written as.
If you read this book and think to yourself that they are in High School and NOT college then you won't be disappointed but if you read this from the truth...that these are adults who could own their own houses and be young professionals...then it is lacking. These main characters need to evolve to match their age and life experiences.
I had to dnf halfway through. It wasn’t horrible horrible, but I saw another review that said Noah doesn’t even tell Sophia his secret till the second book, and I don’t want to go further than the first book. There were some grammatical errors, which is fine. That won’t stop me from reading a book. However, there were some errors like the end of a chapter says she gets on her bike and pedals away, but on the very next page when it switches to Noah’s point of view it says he watches her drive away in her car. Another instance is when Benji is talking to his friend Finn, but in the very next sentence Finn is no longer Finn and is all of a sudden named Liam. How can you forget the name of the character from one sentence to the next?
I had so much hope for this book. There were great reviews so I said why not it sounds interesting. Boy was I wrong. I must have been reading something different than the other reviewers. This book is bad. I wanted to stop reading but I was hoping it would get better but it didn’t. There are a lot spelling and grammar error but that’s not the worst part. The worst part is the words themselves. I felt so kidish. The main character is supposed to be 21 yet she has to go live with her estranged dad. And it’s like she is afraid to do something bad or else she will get grounded. You are 21, move out and do what you want! The story line is also confusing to follow. A lot of it didn’t make since and I was hoping for so some clarification later on but nope, you get nothing. The book just ends.
A good story. Liked how short the chapters were made it feel fast paced for something that doesn’t have a lot of action happening. Main thing is there were so many gosh dang typos/editing errors and they weren’t just small things either. At one point a character is called Finn for a few pages then all the sudden his name is Liam out of no where and then a few pages later he’s Finn again. Like? So yeah that took me out of the story big time especially considering how many times things like that popped up. Overall though I did enjoy the characters and will be picking up book 2.
Maybe I like this book because of the cover. Everyone now knows I’m a HUGE fan of a great cover it conveys so much to me. I loved Noah and Sophie’s story. Funny, witty and great characters. I can’t wait to read the next book in this romance.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who liked Twilight and Romantic series!
Full disclosure, I'm DNFing at 59% which is a lot further along than I thought I'd last lol. Honestly I was ready to put it down almost immediately after picking it up. Arrowed, despite its pretty cover, is just Twilight fanfic sans Edward. The writing is so terrible, but I wanted to like the story and at 59% I gave it a very good shot at changing my mind. Ah well.
I stumbled across this book on Tiktok, Gryffin Murphy had posted about it and i immediately downloaded it on Kindle and i devoured it! i’m not really into mythical reads but i’m so glad i picked this book up. the first ended on such a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to read the second book!
This book from start to finish was hard to put down! The development of Sophie & Noah’s story was well paced and completely adorable. Can’t wait to read the whole series.
"Arrowed" by Gryffin Murphy is a spellbinding tale that seamlessly blends the allure of romance with the mystique of the supernatural. Set against the backdrop of a small Montana town, this book introduces readers to Noah, a wolf shifter burdened with the weight of his responsibilities, and Sophia Rose, a seemingly ordinary human whose life takes an extraordinary turn.
The concept of "Arrowing" in the story is a stroke of brilliance. The idea that an enchanted arrow can bind two souls together, regardless of their backgrounds or knowledge of the supernatural world, adds a unique and intriguing layer to the narrative. The author skillfully weaves together elements of suspense, mystery, and romance, keeping readers turning the pages.
Noah's character is relatable and endearing, evoking nostalgia for high school days and the bonds of friendship. His internal struggle with newfound emotions and responsibilities is portrayed with depth and authenticity. On the other hand, Sophia Rose's character undergoes a captivating transformation from a girl seeking a quiet life to someone entangled in a web of secrets and desire.
Gryffin Murphy's storytelling prowess shines throughout the book. Her vivid descriptions bring the Montana setting to life, immersing readers in the story's atmosphere. The dialogues are engaging and often laced with humor, adding a delightful touch to the narrative.
As a reader, I found myself emotionally invested in Noah and Sophia Rose's journey. The tension between their growing connection and the hidden dangers of Noah's supernatural world keeps the story compelling and unpredictable.
"Arrowed" is a testament to the author's talent for crafting captivating stories that resonate with readers. Gryffin has created a world where love and magic collide, leaving readers wanting more.
In summary, "Arrowed" is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance and those who appreciate well-developed characters and a captivating plot. Gryffin Murphy's storytelling prowess and her ability to create a world that feels both enchanting and relatable make this book a five-star gem that deserves a spot on your reading list.
This was a good story, though it definitely isn’t a complete one. Nothing is resolved at the end of the book, leaving you with one of the biggest cliffhangers I’ve read.
Content: mostly clean but plenty steamy. It does mention his boner a few times so I’m nervous the next one will turn out to be erotic but I have my fingers crossed that it won’t.
Arrowed is a cute soulmateish story, although the “arrow” thing just sounds awkward sometimes. He kept saying his arrow wanted to kiss her, and I kept thinking it was referring to a certain body part even though it was their soulmate connection thing. Unless the arrow is alive, that just plain doesn’t make sense.
Still, I really enjoyed the book and will read the next one. Good writing and fun characters!
Also there was one part in the beginning of the book where it just skipped like 3 or 4 weeks of their relationship and I felt like I was jipped out of watching them fall in friendship.
But like I said, I loved the book and would recommend it! It’s not perfect but no book is!
The characters are likeable if a bit flat, the writing style is nice easy reading and the setting is lovely. The worldbuilfing is average but pleasant and interesting.
My biggest complaint is probably that the book moved waay too fast. We don't even see the first few days of their friendship for example.
The romantic plot is tied up at about 75% and the book feels like it could have ended there but instead the wolf pack plot comes in and lingers the remaining 25% (and ends on a cliffhanger). The wolf plot isn't even bad it just feels a bit thrown out there unnecessarily.
Overall if you want a super quick wolf shifter read I'd suggest it. Ita not a deep story with deep emotional depth or anything and the plot is standard. But it was a nice enough way to spend a couple hours :)
This is the first book in a 4 book series that must be read in order.
Sophia's mom passed away and now she's moved in with her dad that doesn't pay attention to her. While she's at the park reading a book, she meets a man who is quite angry and she can't help but give him sass. What happens when she can't stop thinking about him?
I feel horrible that Sophia lost her mom. Losing a loved one is quite painful. The scene at the park was cute. I couldn't believe she was really that sassy with the first interaction. I was laughing at his dumbfounded expression. The fact that he arrowed on a human is a big deal in his world. I enjoyed that Noah was able to actually talk to Sophia at the library.
There's so much I absolutely LOVE about this story. I could go on and on in this review but I'll stop here. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This was a DNF for me at about 75% Aside from the fact that it for sure needed a couple more round of editing, I'm guessing the shifter thing just isn't for me. Both main characters, despite being in their 20s, seemed very juvenile. Half the time I forgot that they were adults and thought it was a bunch of teenagers. At 75%, it wasn't getting any better and no one was slightly evolving and I couldn't do it anymore. As always, opinions are objective and what drives me crazy, someone else could love. So take what I say with a grain of salt, but if you love immature characters and the "oh I have this big bad secret that if I tell her, I might lose her and my entire world would come crashing down" trope, than this is for you!
I love the story line! It was so easy to get fully immersed into it. And it’s always nice to see fantasy with a new take. I just wish this book had gone through another edit. There were several spots that had only parts of the dialogue typed, or sentences duplicated and it really pulls you out of the story to come across mistakes like that. And I think there was so many spots that could have been elaborated instead of summarized and skipped over. I wanted more! I’m excited to order the next book and see what happens next.
They use different terminology for some things, ie “Arrowed” instead of “imprinted”. But there’s even a very good-looking vampire doctor.
They do have witches in this world though.
At times, these felt like HS kids, not college kids. There was some really problematic behavior on both sides - his jealousy and poor behavior towards people who spark that jealousy; her constant extremely reckless driving while emotional.
I didn’t dislike it, but won’t be reading the rest. I’m not the target audience.
Actually 4.5 stars. This is such a cute book. It had me giggling and smiling all throughout it. It was exactly what I was looking for. It is well written, well formatted, and just overall a great story. The characters are adorable, the love story is perfect. I am so stoked to read the rest of the series! Highly recommend for anyone who loves wolves, loves hand holding and sweet kisses, and loves a nifty story to go along with their lovers. There are some heated make out sessions, but no actual spice in this one. I'll keep an eye out in the other books.
This is an alright story. It was originally a Twilight fanfic and you can definitely tell that a good bit of the story was inspired from those books. A few issues with inconsistency and there’s really no character development. However, I’m going to go ahead and read the next one. It’s a very fluffy story that holds my attention but I can easily put it down also, sometimes you need those. All in all, tolerably well-written but nothing exciting.
I really enjoyed this! It’s like Twilight if Bella was tolerable! I am a diehard Edward girl when it comes to Twilight but to have a fan fiction inspired by Twilight and it be around wolves this time really surprised me how much I enjoyed it. It’s very fast paced and a quick read to add to your reading challenge! I recommend for a fun read! Although, it ends on a big cliffhanger that I will be obsessing over for days 🥲
If you loved Twilight but wanted Bella to choose Jacob, this book is for you. They are college aged but feels like high school and there is even a “Mike Newton” character who worked at his parents store but in here his name is Mark and they sell groceries… I may read the next in the series but there is no rush. It wasn’t bad but just okay overall. I hate the miscommunication trope and this book wasn’t that… it was blatantly withholding information so I’m not sure if that is worse lol.
This is for sure one of my favorite books so far, the story was amazing I loved it and was following the whole time. I love the cute romance in the book, it was for the most part clean, everything was kept innocent. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read that will captivate your attention and heart.
This was a pretty good world building book. Noah and Sofia are great characters who have handled their relationship well. Some of the connection happens off the page, but overall it works. The humor is just beautifully woven in here. There were so many one liners that I wanted to highlight. There is a lot going on and I look forward to the next book!
I found this book and this author on TikTok and let me just say, if you were a fan of Twilight, The Grey Wolves, and Shiver as a teenager you will absolutely go feral over this book!! This is the adult version of everything I loved in YA paranormal books. I am so excited to read the rest of this series!
I went in reading this book not sure what to expect. I was absolutely blown away! It was so amazing I bought the rest of her books and I find myself thinking of what might happen next throughout the day. I read through them all night and day when I was free and finished quickly. Got to say, exceeded expectations by a million.
This didn’t work for me. It was such a waste of a fated mates story. There was no tension. Zero. I was bored and ended up skimming a bunch. Then it has the nerve to end on a cliffhanger. But I absolutely do not care enough to continue. I’m just glad to be done. Not really sure why I finished. Not for me.
Holy HECK was this book good! It was pitched to me as Twilight with Jacob not being creepy imprinting on a baby. That's a good description but also COZY FANTASY. It was so cozy and sweet and easy-to-read. It was a joy to read a fantasy that wasn't heavy with world-building and rather focused on the romance piece.
