The title of this book is just misleading. I am giving it 3 stars because I appreciate the effort they put into analysing vocabulary and grammar. The “stories” in plural was ridiculous, 2 stories is not what I was expecting. The level of the text was no where near for beginners. The translation was transformed to fit the English grammar standards, it could be confusing for people who just start out. I really didn’t have any problems understanding it, because I have been learning French for years and just wanted to read this to kill time. They could have put more short stories with simple wording and short sentences for actual beginners. If I have to recommend it to someone, they definitely will be people with higher level of French proficiency.

I dropped this book. I was expecting 'stories', but this book turned out to be "just one story"!
The book goes on to grammatically review that one story, which the title was in no way suggesting.

This isn't really a beginner's book it's better for someone who's already familiar with French basics as some of the narratives seem a bit advanced...

Doesn't fulfill its title, only one story then delivers so much grammar titles with brief explanation and without many examples, some grammar isn't necessary for beginners.

As someone who wanted to start reading stories in French, I don’t recommend this book. The title is misleading. I chose it expecting a variety of stories with simple vocabulary, gradually becoming more complex in terms of words and sentences. However, the book contains only two stories: the first one is relatively easy, while the second is far too advanced, even compared to the first. Beyond that, the book feels more like a review material for pronouns, nouns, verbs, and other grammar topics.

It's more a study guide, or a sum up of the tenses... But I agree with the comments here, the two stories were for some advanced level, also they put a chunk of the story and them they translate it, so it's hard if you don't have some notion follow up the or get interest it.
Maybe it's just because I am taking quite relax the learning process.

People with no knowledge of the French language might find this book a little too advanced. Despite that, this really is a beginner book and is a fun way to learn some new words or phrases.
