5+++ I heard a crack, think my heart just broke.
Jesus what a rollercoaster. The characters so explicit defined, really a great job to do so.
It's a painful ride, literally and figuratively. My lip was bleeding and my heart and thoughts hurts.
The story is well written and extremely entertaining. My eyes were glued on the pages.
Jason and Colton their declaration of mutual love and how this developed was kind of sweet, how they yearn for one another, the hotness they express. They only had each other to depend on and trust. Jason the big protective brother and Colton small at surface but with a strong spirit.
When Colton gets into the nightmare of his life, things are happening you wish that they weren't real. I will not give the story away.... Highly recommended !!
(not for the susceptive ones)

What I didn't expect was the cliff. (basterd...shit i hate cliffs) but after said....
I will continue this journey I'm too anxious.

Kol Anderson slays me with every word he writes.

He is one of the few auto-buy authors for me. If Amazon had a 'deliver automatically' option every time Kol published something I'd be all over that. This story brings so many emotions to the surface. From compassion to rage to sadness and hope, reading any Kol Anderson book is like packing your bags and going on an emotional journey with each of his characters.

Yes, this story is taboo. Yes, there is angst, non-con, dub-con, kidnapping, sort-of-Stockholm-syndrom and a lot of other tags. But few authors are able to do them as well as Kol Anderson can.

Reading KA is like taking a master class in dialogue. He illuminates character in the slightest and most impactful ways, and you get to know each of his characters through their mannerisms, dialogue and the actions they use. There is never any telling in Kol's stories, you always feel immersed as he shows you what is happening.

Kol Anderson breaks my heart into a million pieces then puts it together again to leave me wanting more and never like I've had enough.

This brotherly love book contains gay incest between brothers, but it's done so well. I loved this book and I cannot say enough about how hard you should be reading this and every other Kol Anderson book right now.

Okay so I’m for sure going to say this: HEED THE WARNINGS. It’s funny because Kol said those exact words to me before I started this.

I have read pretty much everything out there. Every element, every scenario, every twisted thing the dark promises and yet Senseless rattled me. It was a rough read I won’t lie. Harder than any book I’ve ever read if I’m being honest.
The torture in this book is immeasurable. I honest to God have no idea how Colton lived… and does he? It’s a cliffy. Sorry. It is but I know there are 2 more books coming so don’t panic!

Here’s the thing. I KNOW the justice will be amazing because if Kol can write torture like this I have zero doubt that the justice will be the sweetest nectar to ever soothe your torn up soul.

This book will test you. It will have you choking on so many questions. You might find yourself praying… even if you don’t believe. I had to put the book down and hug my kids and shower and just look out the window to appreciate that I could see life moving about.

This book is SO DARK! SO SO DARK! I rated it how I did because it deserved it. It made promises and it kept them. It warned and it meant it. As prepared as I was I couldn’t have been.
To shake ME in a book it take a lot! I mean more than you know. I don’t shy away from much. I don’t freak out easily and I’m not squeamish. This book found the weakness in my barriers and breached it. It set a limit a book hasn’t done in a very long time.

For that I applaud Kol Anderson. I will never forget this book!

I always like some brocest so no complaining from me because that's all good but I did feel Jason's sorta controlling and bossy. But hang on to your goats! because Jason being bossy is the least of the problems. It gets nasty nasty nasty and more nasty and then you have to wait for the next one. Phark!

4.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.

I just love when Kol comes back and throws a “oh, and here’s a little story for you” your way. It makes me excited and giddy in ways that I should probably have checked out. This one is no different. Seems like a typical Kol story, and it is, but the blurb does not really prepare you for the extent to which you will be pulled in or your emotions yanked around. But, those are the kinds of stories I love the best.

Here, we have two brothers who realize they just want to be together, but there are a few things standing in the way besides their sibling status. Jason is a major player in the family’s company while Colton is still in college. With their parents both deceased, they are (mostly Jason) under the rule of their uncle and his shady dealings. This same uncle doesn’t seem to have much use for Colton, but has no trouble involving and using Jason.

We don’t rally get too many details on the business aspects or shady dealings, just enough to know they are there, have occurred and are now causing some serious issues for the brothers. Namely, Colton has been kidnapped and is being tortured as revenge for things Jason has done. This part gets pretty brutal, as the men find creative ways to do so while videoing Colton so tapes can be sent to Jason. Meanwhile, Jason is trying to locate Colton so he can take matters into his own hands.

My only niggle with this story was that I felt like we were missing important snippets of information here and there pretty much throughout the story, and I would have “enjoyed” a bit more detail. There is enough to get the gist and move the story along, but I still had a lot of questions. Knowing Kol though, we will get more answers eventually, when he’s good and ready to give them. What we do get is well written, engaging and had me turning pages as quickly as ever to see how things would turn out. Will Colton get away? Will Jason save him? Will Colton be the same if he does? In true Kol fashion, this ends on a tiny cliffy that felt like the floor just dropped out from underneath me. I cannot wait for the next story to see this all play out.

2.5 STARS I found this hard to rate because I didn't like the beginning of the book
This is an extremely well written novel with an overall decent plot. That said, I found some of the relationships extremely disturbing but it lost me at the beginning with the initial dialogue and alpha male posturing, it was ridiculous. I think that if the dialogue at start of the book was worded better I might have found it more interesting. It literally came across to me as bored rich white kids trying to play mafia and it just didn't work. However, this did improve quickly but it was really over the top in the beginning.

Now for the content, it is extremely explicit and even though it's been in other books I have read. I found this WAY more disturbing as it's a contemporary setting, compared to me usually reading or coming across it in a Dystopian, Post Apocalyptic or fantasy setting. So I found the impact of that way more in my face, than I usually do. This is one very nasty book but I must concede the different scenario's really do occur in life and some are considered major taboo's, so it makes for hardcore reading. I don't like most of the things that happen in this book but that has no reflection on my rating and although it was hard going at times.

The way the context was written into the content is done quite well after the book settles into itself. It also ended on a huge cliffhanger, so now I need to know what happens. I didn't realise this was going to be a series.

***TRIGGER WARNINGS for, incest, rape, kidnapping, torture, extreme psychological and physical abuse***

Whoa Nellie. Man can Kol Anderson write. The title for this is exceptionally apt - and the story is not for anyone squeamish. The love between Jason and Colton (brothers) is not exactly mainstream - but what happens to Colton is so far out of the realm of what you think is possible. Not because it could not happen but because it's hard to imagine it happening with the guy who as Jason's friend. Gives new meaning to the word friend man. It's depraved but mesmerizing. It's confusing - but intentionally so far as I could tell. I felt a bit dizzy when done. Nice!

Well ladies and gents, it's all here. Incest..a very taboo subject, shady business scams which lead to murder, kidnapping, rape, torture, brutal beatings and mind games for both brothers...all of which is wrapped up in a typically depraved Kol Anderson package with a big, red bow, leaving you wanting more..and there will be more. Hopefully some of the things left unresolved in this one will be answered then....4 stars from me and a big smooch for Kol. x

Damn.....Kol certainly knows how to mess with your mind.....He knows how to tear you apart....rip you apart....play mind games and even make you want to scream...This is an amazing book and it certainly knows how to mess with your head.....Jason and Colton are loving brothers...Jason I'm not sure what to think of as he's not completely nice person but he loves his brother and Colton certainly loves Jason.....When Colton is kidnapped and put through such depravity you realise you are definitely reading a Kol Anderson book....He knows how to draw you in and make you actually feel what his MC's are going through...You will feel so much love and pain for Colton and Jason that you won't be able to put the book down so thank god it's a short read......but that ending....omg...I don't do cliffhangers but damn I need book 2 like right now....I want to know that Colton will be ok and that Jason will find him and mostly that Colton will forgive Jason and not believe everything that Devyn had told him x

Revenge with evil intent has consequences for all.

The past is never the past as long as people want revenge or a chance to get even.

Jason and Colton are brothers that are very close. Their family had money and they are well off. Although their parents died in an accident when they were young, the inherited the family business and trust funds. Uncle Dave was running the business at first, but he also conned a lot of people out of a lot of money years ago. Now the victims are taking revenge.

Family first. Yet it is difficult to protect family from revenge by others families wanting their turn and rewards.

Colton is kidnapped and abused by four victims of Uncle Dave in an attempt to revenge their losses on Jason and Colton who were young when it happened.

Love, sex, hate, revenge, abuse, torture, starvation, dehydration, and other destructive methods of punishment are dumped on Colton, but the fallout is affecting all involved, even the police. But Colton is proving difficult to destroy by escaping.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

4.5 Stars

Two men who love each other…..

Deeply. Senselessly. Immeasurably.

Holy hell. Just when you think Kol Anderson has gone as dark and deep as he can up he pops with a whole new level of terror.

This is the story of Jason and Colton. They are brothers. They love each other. They have sex with each other. It’s not easy for them – Jason is in charge of the family business alongside his uncle after his parents died. The business is not strictly legal and people interfering with it tend to die quickly but we don’t really learn a lot about it in this instalment.

Jason and Colton are very different. Jason is very much the older sibling with a take charge attitude and a dangerous determination to keep his younger brother safe. He has seen and done things to protect what is left of his family that he doesn’t discuss or admit to Colton but you cross him at your own peril.

If someone wanted to hurt Jason the best way to do it would be through Colton and that is exactly what happens. Colton is kidnapped and if you can imagine the worst of Kol with a bit more added for shits and giggles that is what Colton has to survive. Surprisingly Colton proves to be much more resilient than you would expect but what the long term affects will be is anyone’s guess. As Colton is tortured Jason is slowly losing his mind – as his torture is to see everything they do to the man he loves.

The writing, as is always the case with Kol, gripping and vivid. This is a real page turner even if you are scared of what the ending may bring. I hadn’t realised when I picked this up for review that it’s the first of a three part series and without adding any pressure I really hope we see the next two parts quickly as this was left with so many loose ends.

What happens next? Will Colton live? Will he forgive Jason?

Wow.....

***May Contain Spoilers****

If you are new to reading Kol Anderson, just a heads up. This book might contain tigers for some and dislike from others (non-consent/multi-partners and incest). Just a forewarning for some. However, I am not new to the author, and the subject matter does not effect my rating of the book.

I give this first book in the series a 3.5 stars (rounded up), because the story wasn't solid enough IMO. The parents of Colton and Jason were killed in an accident. We are never told what type of accident and to me it is just leaves to many questions especially given the 'family business' as stated in the book. Which leads me to ask (maybe I read to fast), what exactly is the family business? I know there was a Ponzi scheme and a Jason brought a club. So many questions and not enough answers!!!! Last but not least, why did they even get the police involved? Does not really make any sense to me.

Right now I can truly say the only character I like in this series so far is Colten. IMO (unless more story evolves) his brother Jason has taken advantage of his fragile state. No only does he take advantage of him, he still continues on with other women and men. That poor boy :/

As for the kidnappers: Devyn, Grey, Ash and Logan. I just don't like them and hope they fall into an abyss. In addition, I have a feeling that Uncle Dave might be in on it as well. They way he goes about telling Jason to hold off?!? What is with that?

With that said, I cannot wait to see where this series leads.

Really wasn't sure how to rate this one - but I went with 4 stars because I liked Senseless a little bit more than Anderson's other works.

Senseless is not for the faint of heart. When I say its fucked up - it is SERIOUSLY fucked up.

Colton and Jason are brothers who are in a relationship - a loving, sexual and deep relationship. Jason has taken to the family business after their parents are killed and its not a desk job, lets just say that. With Jason's status comes enemies that hit pretty close to home.

Colton is kidnapped due to Jason's actions and holy moly it is brutal. Kol Anderson brings some of the most fucked up stories I have ever read. I cringed, I cried and I fucking felt for Colton.

Ends on a cliff-hanger but Kol is pretty good about cranking out these stories quickly. Also, free on KU.

On to the next!

This book was not what I was expecting.

This will have spoiler alerts so stop here if you haven't read the book. I was not expecting the sexual relationship between the two brothers. I read a lot of the m/m genre but I have never ventured into anything like this. Jason and Colton are in asexual relationship and have been for awhile. Devyn enters the picture as a friend of Jason but the friendship was shot when Jason caught him a few years ago lusting after Colton. This book has some really horrible things into it but it literally sucked me in. I have never read anything by this author but I need to check into his books. I did not want the story to end and will wait for the next book.

Wow, so many emotions for this book. This book reminded me of the series "Flesh Cartel" by Rachel Haimowitz. Two brothers together against the world and outside forces tearing them apart. It is violence, taboo love, rape and revenge, and Kol Anderson knows how to weave a story.

DNF 27%. If you have characters with an 8 year age difference, the older one being 18 when their parents died, there's no way the parents could have taken the 12 year old brother to a psychiatrist, because they'd have been dead for 2 years. Ugh.

When I was in sixth grade, a friend and I used to write... let's call it erotic band fiction, with apologies to the writers of Bob's Burgers. Basically sex stories about whichever rock stars we were infatuated with at the moment, written by two people with no sexual experience. Anyway, this book reminds me of the shit I wrote when I was twelve, except none of the scenes I wrote had child molestation. Hard pass.

OMG!!! I was so blown away by this book! I love Kol Anderson's books and this one is probably his best yet. I felt so awful for Colton and the things he was put through and while Jason is not a "good" guy I can only hope that he will save the day and the love Colton and Jason feel for each other comes through in this story. I only hope that the two of them get their HEA.

DNF @ 19% - and another hard lesson in "read samples before you buy, or at least start reading before the return period closes"

I can't do it. This is just too ridiculous. All the characters have basically the same voice, and that voice comes across as a child trying to sound like a big, tough mobster might. The entire thing reads like a child doing pretend-play - like that one guy in school who told all the impossible, made-up tales about how he knew mafia people and was big and tough because he thought doing so would buy him friends and popularity.

The writing isn't good - seriously, it's so grating in style and (lack of) flow. The characters aren't distinct or entertaining. And the events thusfar have been absolutely nonsensical. For example: why would a mafia man's security not check for weapons on a guy who came in with his sworn enemy? They used to be friends, but then this guy did something so heinous that he was ex-communicated. Surely the security detail knows? Honestly, there's no point to having bodyguards if you don't give them the most basic of information such as no longer trusting a guy you now hate. And a 9mm gun isn't impressive. It's also so absurdly non-descript that it should've just been left as "a gun" or "a handgun" because the wide variety of makes, models, sizes, etc. available that shoot 9mm ammo means this is useless as a descriptor. If you're going to make my brain parse numerals in the flow of prose, at least have a good reason for doing so!

I know I'm in a reading slump, but I've gotta have standards. And my standards tell me that I made the right call back in September 2019 when I immediately tapped out after starting to read this one and went on to other books. Now that I finally picked it back up, I can see it's not worth the time or effort.

The fact the brothers with a significant age gap are having an incestuous relationship only sealed the DNF deal for me - more specifically because the older brother has this 'oh I shouldn't force you to be with me' martyr complex (which doesn't stop him from pursuing) while also romanticizing the 'innocence' his brother has. The combination is sickening and completely eradicates my ability to shrug and go 'it's just fiction' due to the emotional impact it has on me. (Which isn't me judging anyone who can dismiss it as just fiction; that's just a personal limit of mine.)
