I first read this book about 13 years ago, about a British family who was fed up of the old work/family routine and wanted a change. They bought a 10 acre 'farm' just south of Barcelona up in the hills. Ella their daughter quickly assimilated into the local school and becAme fluent in Catalan almost immediately - her parents Martin and Maggie, not so much! Their son Joe Joe a babe in arms took his first tentative steps in the vegetable gardens. Everyone has a dream of getting away from it all at some point but it takes hard work, stamina and health to make it work. They struggled but with the help of friends and community they eventually made it work in their first year. It became a tv programme in the UK.
