Dan Bellamy has lost his wife, his home, his country; perhaps even his sanity. The only thing he has left is vengeance for the creatures who took his world away, and he intends to visit it upon them, no matter the cost. As the eyes of the world turn to the destruction in England, Dan believes that his presence in the United States will provoke an immediate response from the vampires. He thinks he knows what that response will be. He's wrong... With the fate of the nation - and perhaps the entire world - hanging in the balance, Dan believes he must understand the visions which torture him, and which might be key to humanity's survival, but he'll have to do it fast. Because darkness is coming. And the vampires are rising...
Born the son of a wealthy philanthropist, Griffiths was orphaned by crime at a formative age, and subsequently raised by the family's kindly butler.
Nursing a bone-deep rage at the loss of his parents, Griffiths invested his inherited billions into extensive combat training and the development of sophisticated technology which he now uses to bring justice to the streets of -
No, wait. That's Batman. Sheesh. I always do this.
I was born in Wales, and lost myself in books as soon as I discovered them. That kid who hangs out in the library. Yeah, that was me.
I never wanted to be anything other than a writer/superhero and eventually I moved to London, finding work as a journalist and editor, before turning to writing horror and science fiction, and being continually amazed that people actually read it.
The author contacted me and I received a copy of this book in exchange of a honest review.
This is the third and final novel in the “Adrift” trilogy.
DEAD, FROM COAST TO COAST
I mentioned before that in this book series, Adrift, first it was in a cruise ship, in the middle of the ocean, then in the second book, the action moved to England, mostly in London, now the story goes to the United States,...
...and in this occasion, it’s everywhere in the country!
The deadly menace isn’t taking any chances now, and the whole US is under attack!
And yes, there is the US army, sure, even Special Forces teams, however, while they have the ammo and numbers…
…the American branch of The Order has the knowledge of what they are facing.
So, if those two groups haven’t talk each other…
…the civilian population won’t see another daylight!
DAN, YOU’RE OUR ONLY HOPE
Dan Bellamy maybe is the best hope for human population of survival, but that doesn’t mean that he is all we’d hope for…
…since the very condition that it made him in the only one (so far we know, but be alert since some other may appear) with the power to have a chance of resisting the dark menace’s attack, is leading him into a dark path, into a dark river.
The action and chaos factor are fierce in this conclussion and you maybe not being prepared for the shocking ending!
Certainly I wasn’t, and I still would like another way to end this, but certainly it was bold!
Anyone who knows me, or reads my reviews, knows I very rarely give a 5 star rating. I've read many great books that I've rated as 4 star, not because they were lacking in any way but personally I choose to save 5 stars for those books, or series, that in my opinion are those rare gems of creativity that take the reader to a whole other level of experience. A level where it's virtually impossible to put the book down, when you do put it down your mind wanders back eager to pick up the tale where you last left off, characters that are created so well they grow into their own unique, vivid reality , and a story line that should be laughable it's so far fetched but instead it not only makes sense, it comes across as both plausible and authentic. This book and the other 2 in this trilogy hit every ideal of a great read. If you like apocalyptic type stories or horror then this is a must read trilogy!
4.5 stars for the conclusion to one of the best horror series I've ever come across. If these books were ever to be made into movies or a Netflix TV series I'd be first in line to see them. Original storytelling that keeps you gripped and wanting to read more. The book lost half a star because I found the very ending unsatisfying and rushed. I HATE when authors skip to black and leave it up to the audience's imagination to fill in the blanks. I was left wanting to know so much more.
This book was good there were some fast paced moments and slow pace d moments. In this book we find Fan evolving more and understanding his powers more. The fate of the world rest in one person's hands. Be ready for a rollercoaster.
Finale of a trilogy that is really one long story. The first book was the strongest, as we met the main characters, including a race of monsters. The second and third books maintain momentum as the people we've come to like battle in different arenas to reach the final confrontation. Entertaining, though the gory details wore me down as they were repeated over and over. ugh. But a good read if you think things can't get worse.
A brilliant third (and final?) Instalment. It does a great job of ending the trilogy while still leaving me wanting more, my imagination will have to take over from the writers now though. Tense, exciting, tugs on the emotions. My heart was in my throat through out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. I didn't know it was a trilogy until I'd finished the first, which in my opinion could stand on its own. Not to say the other two weren't brilliant as well. If you're an avid horror reader and you want something new that isn't outrageously unbelievable give this trilogy a read. I'm certain you won't be disappointed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy, providing a whole new take on vampires. No sparkly stuff going on here guys. No being afraid of the light either. Heck, these ones didn't even resemble humans. The characters were flawed, real, and sometimes not likeable, but you rooted for them anyway. Somewhat predictable but satisfying ending.
I gave this book a 5 star rating because I enjoyed the whole series collectively. The characters where pretty realistic, for the content. The only negative for me was the epilogue, it lacked content.
I loved this series. All the characters were all given amazing personalities. I also enjoyed how dan the main protagonist wasn't your average run of the mill hero. I liked how he was a normal guy trying to live his life in crazy situations.
Excellent read! Anybody dies in this...captivating, and nerve wracking!!
This could be made into a movie. No sci-fi production;this warrants a big budget. Highly entertaining, a high plausibility factor and historical references and book marks. Enjoy!
This book just lacked what made #1 and #2 great. Feels like the author just done run out of ideas and was looking to finish off the series. That said, it still made for a good read even if it was not difficult to put it down at bedtime.
So much promise, but the ending seemed so abrupt and empty...maybe even a little predictable? So many unanswered questions. Characters that were developed left without closure? Ok, but I'll still check out the first chapter of the Wildfire series. 😎
Wow! What series. Exciting. Fresh. Great, great story and characters! Wow again, but now I'm ruined for so many others. Where do I find another read so good?
Keep you on the edge of your seat!!! Action packed and scary as hell.. Go Dan!!! You did it!!!!! Not to bad for a skinny guy who thinks he is going crazy.
Action packed and well sustained through to the end. I loved the different approach to vampire depiction. The ending was really good and must thank the author for not killing the dog.
What can you say about a book that leaves you speechless? Because this novel is simply everything that a reader can ask of an author and more. What I do have to tell you is that this book is not a stand alone novel you have to read the series for it all to make sense, but boy you are in for a treat! Mr. Griffiths has the most wicked mind that conjures up visions of seven foot vampires like no others that you have ever read about. (I still shudder every time that I travel on the London underground, book 2). It puts playing with your food on a whole new level.
I did feel a little confused in the opening pages, transfixed, apprehensive but still with a frown, but soon it all made sense. The story was how I remembered it across the Atlantic Ocean in the USA. The familiar characters are there and some additional ones will be picked up on the way too. Mr. Griffiths certainly makes use of everything being known as bigger and better in the USA as he sets the scene for an even more spectacular stage with these unstoppable creatures.
This is truly a dark and intense story that will have you hanging on to every single sentence and your pulse will race with every click.....click.....click. I do have my favourite character, well it is a pair really. Conny and Remy, both from the last story. If you are a lover of horror novels please take a look at this series. It is awesome!
I was really lucky to get a copy of this book in exchange for a review, which I am more than happy to provide. Another great installment by K.R. Griffiths. I had been anxiously awaiting it since I was dying to find out how it would all end, I would recommend that you read the previous 2 books in order to know what is going on, and how it all started. I especially love the beginning. I was at the edge of my seat, and really should not have read it right before going to sleep, it made for some interesting dreams, but I just could not put it down, it had lots of gore and suspense and kept my attention from the start. If you love the horror genre you really need to check out this Author, he won't disappoint you. Wonder what we can expect next?
I found KR Griffiths's books by accident a year ago. This is not my usual genre, but the front cover for Adrift 1 caught my attention and I gave it ago. Loved the book, and survived the nightmares that followed. Adrift 2 was even better and I was very excited for book 3.
Three is a really, really good book. I love his style of writing and the path the story took. That said, I only gave 4* because this one wasn't quite as scary as the previous two. Although the gore factor was definitely present, I wasn't quite as terrified by the monsters in the dark. Still a brilliant book though.
The clever way this series is written, giving a far more plausible explanation for the creatures we call vampire makes for a scarier read. The idea that they could be real and the cause of so many unexplained historical events is fascinating.
All of the central characters are interesting and captivating.
I wasn't sure what was going to happen in this book, I would get so anxious that I had to keep reading to find out how things were going to turn out. I would love to see another book in this series, to see how everyone deals with what's happened. I have become a follower of K.R. Griffiths books, he has the skill to catch the attention, keep you enthralled and bring it to a conclusion, excellent Author.
Every once in a while, I'll pick up a cheap horror novel. Not really expecting much, just hoping for a little entertainment. This series has more than met my expectations. An interesting take on the vampire legend, this book culminates with our heroes final stand against the monsters. Plenty of action, suspense, and gore to keep most readers happy. Only real downside is it ends a little abruptly.
A satisfying conclusion to the series. Great characters. Great vamps. Great action. My only quibble is it felt a little underdeveloped. The story itself was fine, but I almost wished he'd taken some more time to tell it along the way. There is so much action crammed into this, that I think we had less great amazing standalone scenes like the last two. That said though, I totally dig this author and will read anything he writes.
This is the third and final instalment in this series of books and a thoroughly enjoyable series it has been. I was lucky enough to have received the first two books direct from the author but I enjoyed them so much I actually bought this one!
Read my full review here ... Reading Stuff 'n' Things where you will also find links to my reviews of 4 more of Mr Griffiths books.
This is the third and final instalment of a truly original vampire story. Griffiths' writing is very vivid, and you can see the events happening in your mind's eye - it would make an excellent film or TV series, just as his zombie series would. The characters are well-drawn and rounded, and you really care about them. Thoroughly recommended.
