Favorite Quotes from various parts of the book:

For each of us as women, there is a dark place within where hidden and growing our true spirit lives. -Audre Lorde

To pray you open your whole self
To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon
To one whole voice that is you,
And know there is more
That you can't see, can't hear,
Can't know except in moments
Steadily growing, and in languages
That aren't always sound but other
Circles of motion.
-Joy Harjo, Eagle Poem

Attend me, hold me in your muscular flowering arms, protect me from throwing any part of myself away. -Audre Lorde

Everything that has ever
helped me has come through what already
lay stored in me.
-Adrienne Rich, Sources, Part II

"I hear you're studying religion," he said.
"That's how people get confused.
Keep it simple. Down or up."
-Naomi Shihab Nye, Grandfather's Heaven

Hands become what they have held; our hands shape themselves around what they hold most dear, or what has made an impression, or what we press on others.
-Brenda Miller, A Thousand Others

The first parts of this book were really engaging and well done. It went downhill from there--from making me stop and think and pulling at me emotionally to just being flat. After the first few I was sure I'd keep it once I made it through. By the end, making it through was due to meh rather than emotion and the majority of the book is meh, so...but the start had several excellent entries.

This is nice to come back to from time to time; lots of varying viewpoints.
