In Savannah, Everyone Has Something to Hide
When socialite Evelyn Doyle hires investigative partners and best friends Michael Preston and Elizabeth Kirby to do some routine surveillance on her wayward husband, the detective duo find themselves embroiled in a mystery with more suspects than there are shells on Tybee Island.

Evelyn's husband turns up dead, leaving her as the police chief's prime target. The investigation reveals a hodgepodge of potential murderers, including a scheming business partner, a resentful mistress, and a ne'er-do-well brother. It's up to Mike and Beth to follow the trail of secrets that reaches further than the branches of the moss-draped oaks of Savannah.

As word of the case gets around town, business is booming for Price Investigations. When Mike and Beth hire Kaitlyn Webb, Savannah's newest transplant, their workload eases, but will the ghosts of her past threaten everyone's safety before a killer can be put behind bars? And can Mike and Beth find love as their friendship and faith are put to the test?

3 stars to Mary Ellis's Sunset in Old Savannah, the fourth in her "Secrets of the South" mystery series. In this book, the Price Investigation team heads to Savannah to investigate a new case and enjoy this lovely view:

This was my introduction to the series, as I received a free ARC from NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. I will go back to read the first few books, and I suggest reading this series in order to ensure you understand all the history. This was a good ole' cozy, leaving me interested in reading more, but didn't spark a major love-fest with the series quite yet. Let's hit the slopes...

Story
As I didn't read Books 1 thru 3, I'm not sure I have the full background, but here's the gist: Michael Preston and Beth Kirby have been working together for a short time as PIs in the Price Investigation Firm. Beth's a former cop who left the force after a bad experience with a former partner. Michael resigned from his accounting position to take up more investigative work. Their boss sends them from their hometown in Natchez, Mississippi to Savannah, Georgia to help a wealthy woman, Evelyn Doyle, determine if her husband is cheating. Seems a few fights and sparks have happened between Michael and Beth in previous books, but that's all so far.

After a few days in Savannah, they prove Evelyn's husband was having an affair with a woman young enough to be his daughter. Evelyn thanks them and mentions she will forgive him and ask him to stop, after all, she is a good, Christian woman. Beth thinks the woman's a little crazy, but later finds kinship with her, almost looking at her as a mother-figure. The boss encourages the pair to take a few paid days off and relax after finishing the case early. But when they do, they start getting a little romantic and wondering whether there could be more between them. Suddenly, Evelyn calls from jail, needing help to get a lawyer and release -- hubby's dead!

Along the path, Beth and Michael discover some shenanigans in the husband's insurance business, a brother with a grudge, a confused and bitter jilted lover and some secrets about where the wealth came from. Michael and Beth split the work, track down clues and try not to piss off the local police who want them out of town ASAP. Beth comes closest to tracking down the ultimate culprit and finds herself in need of a rescue at the end.

But the boss, who has too much work in Savannah, asks them to recruit another PI to work out of Savannah for future cases... while solving the murder and helping their client Evelyn, the pair interview potential candidates and take-on a new case at a sushi restaurant where the owner suspects someone's stealing.

Key Thoughts
1. The setting is beautiful. Love hearing about the old town squares, the weather, the big homes, the views of the ocean. Helps bring a clear picture into focus for the story.

2. The banter between the two leads can be amusing part of the time. But on the whole, their dialogue felt a bit stiff and planned. Too much unnecessary drama for a couple starting to date. They fell into all the traps of the boring get to know you details.

3. Beth Kirby can be very annoying. In the first few chapters, she's a complete and utter train wreck to her partner and the client. She seems to think she's better than everyone else, has a snotty reply that can only be taken one way, and she has trust issues. I'd have dropped her right away... but she gets better throughout the book. Only issue is, there were times where I thought she wasn't likable enough to read another book. Part of her attitude becomes a little bit of charm along the way, even though she cries several times, which makes me think she's not well-balanced to handle a job as a PI. Sometimes it's funny. Sometime's it's not.

4. The POV alternates between Michael and Beth, or the focus of their activities does -- one or the other. Doesn't feel 100% consistent. Then when the third detective is added, and a different case being discussed, it feels a little off. While it was a fun short diversion, it won't work for all readers.

Final Thoughts
So while parts of the book fell a bit flat, the overall story arch, the characters, the setting, etc. had some good points and I'd be curious to see another book by this author. It's a decent read, the normal cozy you can handle over a few days and drift off into someone else's world without getting too caught up. Take it for a spin and get comfy in the historic charm of Old Savannah.

This is the fourth book in this series that I have read and it kept me page turning from beginning to end.
This case has Beth and Mike away from Mississippi and in Savannah Georgia, and they are there to help and elderly woman learn that her husband is philandering, and then sadly to help prove she didn’t murder him.
We meet prejudice head on in this wealthy community, and if you can turn your back on it, this sounds like one awesome place to live. I’d eat on the patio and watch the waves crash, but alas that is not about to happen, but I loved reading about it.
We are kept on our feet as my mind went from one suspect to another, and I had a niggling about a suspect way back in my mind, but was I right, the only way to find out is to read this book that will keep you up as we try to find whom is responsible. We also meet and interview a new PI, and I’ll bet we are about to find her in our next story, and she has a quite a story on her own.
We are going on a culinary journey, along with some sparks of romance, run in with the law, and sadly a good murder mystery. All through the book we find people with great faith in God, and they seem to move on with adversity with the help of Him.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, and being able to catch up with old friends is an added bonus. Enjoy!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harvest House, and was not required to give a positive review.

A convoluted mystery with lots of suspects that kept me guessing.

It’s so nice to be back with familiar faces and off on another adventure with the team. This series can stand alone but to really get to know the main characters and all the supporting ones best, this light, fun, sorta cozy type of read is well worth reading from the beginning.

I start with a smile on my face at the fun writing about Beth.

She’s quite the character. She is my favorite. I love her brash, snarky, sarcastic wit that puts poor Mike, who’s madly in love with her, through the wringer. She manages to find herself in uncomfortable situations, and she’s looking for a reason to get out of town..

I can’t help but laugh at Beth’s antics…even as she puts her life in danger to get to the bottom the mystery.

Old friends, new friends, a mystery solved and another mystery on the horizon. From Natchez and Pensacola, to Savannah, Beth always gets her man.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Sunset in Old Savannah by Mary Ellis.

I am predominately a historical reader—something about visiting a different time and place appeals to me. Reading this mystery, however, I felt almost as if I had been transported to another time, and without a doubt, to another place.

The culture of Savannah, and its unique layout and parks, is very different from any place I have yet visited, but after reading this novel I am intrigued enough to add it to my “someday” travel list. The setting is very much a character in this novel and the descriptions in the book greatly add to the atmosphere and suspense as the book progresses.

The main characters in this installment are Beth and Michael, the PI partners assigned to the mystery outside of their usual environs of Natchez. Both of them have unique quirks and the interplay between the two of them, the give and take of the partnership, is a lot of fun to read. As the romance began to develop, I felt that the awkwardness and hesitancy were realistic, and the overarching loyalty and concern that each had for the other was a refreshing break from what can sometimes be decidedly one-sided in friends-turned-more stories.

Despite the book being a murder mystery, there is a lot of humor that, along with the romance, keeps things from becoming too dark or morose. The Christian beliefs and reliance on God also lends a hopeful feel to the novel, even when it comes from imperfect characters. Overall, the characters are people that I wanted to root for and that kept me invested in the book as the pages turned.

Those who enjoy cozy mysteries will likely enjoy this book, too. It is not necessary to have read previous books in the Secrets of the South Mysteries to understand everything going on, but readers who like to follow recurring characters (even though different ones are highlighted in different books) should go back and enjoy these mysteries from the beginning.

I received a free copy of this book from the author but no compensation for this review. I was not required to write a favorable one and the opinions expressed are both honest and my own.

The Price Investigation team from Natchez, Mississippi gets sent on the road to Savannah, Georgia by their boss, to work on what was to be a simple case. When things get complicated, Beth and Michael dig their heels in, as their client becomes number one suspect in a murder.

Another not-so-cut-and-dried mystery in this fun series set in the Deep South! Beth and Michael from the last book have a lot of banter that seems to be teetering at times between professional and playful. Beth is kind of rough around the edges, but seemed to be softening up finally as she sees Michael in a different light, appreciating him and trusting him more. A new addition to the team, one with secrets of her own, seems to hint that the series will hopefully continue.

Recommend to readers who enjoy a mystery with a bit of romance. This book is fourth in the series, but fine to read as a stand alone.

The mystery was mediocre, the characters kind of bland and the romance too sappy. This took "cozy mystery" to a new level for me.
Really didn't enjoy the read.

Sunset In Old Savannah by Mary Ellis is a marvellous murder mystery which had me engrossed and guessing.
An intricate plot kept me on my toes. As the body count rose, I found it impossible to guess the perpetrator of the crimes. All was neatly tied up at the end.
The novel has many themes including that of the love of money being the root of all evil. The love of money corrupts and characters spiral downwards.
In contrast, having an open handed approach and generous attitude to money breeds good, kind hearted characters.
Naturally in a murder mystery, there is the theme of trust.
There is also the theme of friendship. And the gut instinct as to who can be liked from the start.
The novel shows a clear divide between the police and the private investigators. Both want to solve the crime but both take different approaches whilst being diligent.
I really enjoyed Sunset In Old Savannah and am loving this Secrets Of The South series. It can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed meeting up with familiar characters. It was a fabulous read. I hope there will be many more books in this marvellous series.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Sunset in Old Savannah is book 4 in the Secrets of the South Mysteries series. I have not read books 1-3, but I did not feel at a disadvantage because this was a good stand alone book.

Sunset in Old Savannah is a book that follows two private investigators, Elizabeth Kirby and Michael Preston. They travel to Savannah where they meet Evelyn Doyle. She suspects her husband of having an affair. The team is able to confirm her suspicions but when Evelyn's husband is murdered, Evelyn is the prime suspect. Elizabeth and Michael begin to work to prove she is innocent. They work as a team to investigate each person involved in the case. As they do so, they realize they have feelings for one another and begin to date. As the case proceeds, Elizabeth finds herself on the wrong end of a gun.

Sunset in Old Savannah is well written and moves at a steady pace. The characters are well developed and easy to like. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

I am several days late in posting this review for release day. I apologize to the author and publisher.

I read the other books in this series before starting this one. After reading the first 3 books I felt it was necessary to understand everything in the fourth book. It really is not necessary but it helped with all the background characters and why who does what.

I picked this book to read/review for several reasons. The main one was that it is set in the south. Living on the Mason-Dixon line I prefer books with a Southern setting.

I first thought this book and series was a cozy mystery. I was sadly wrong. This book is a Romantic Mystery without any sex. I do not have a problem with no sex in romance. But the book is in the mystery and thriller genre. No mention of any romance. I am not saying I would not have read it if I knew about the genre difference. However, I would have thought about it more.

I enjoyed how the author pulled in the history of Savannah. I did not like how the author took a married character and placed him in a sexual affair.

The story is mainly about Mike and Beth. But I felt they were not fair to each other. They went out but they did not offer each other deep incite into their past. This was a major drawback for me.

Then the author brings in Kaitlyn. A character with a mysterious past. A past that will probably show up in the next book.

I enjoyed this book to a point. My point was stated above about the genre mix-up. I would recommend this book to any who enjoy a romantic mystery.

Sunset in Old Savannah by Mary Ellis was a wonderful book. This was the fourth in her Secrets from the South Mysteries and it was so easy to get back into the characters and jump back into their lives, despite the months in between reading the third and now this book.

I loved it – every aspect, from the “who dun it” mystery to the camaraderie built between all the characters to the new people introduced and the side stories, all of it.

I love the way the author writes; she makes her characters authentic and relatable. People who love reading about historical sites and old town history will also love this book for the richness of the culture that is blended into every page: from the scenic descriptions of streets and historical monuments to the rich, cultural food also described. It’s southern at its finest.

I hope this isn’t the last in this series. I’m not ready to say goodbye to my friends yet.

I have read most the books in this series, and Mary Ellis never ceases to keep me entertained. I have enjoyed all of Price Investigations Mysteries, but I think this one comes close to being one of my favorites.

Why? Well, I am not quite sure I can pinpoint that. Maybe it is the Savannah/Tybee Island setting, those moss covered oaks... Just recently, I was blessed to spend a couple days there, so that certainly gave me a better appreciation for the location. I could totally picture the scenery and areas they were driving too as she mentions going on and off the Island, even though I wasn't familiar with all the exact places she talked about. (Sadly, I didn't get a chance to visit the historical district while I was there, but I read about it.)

Beth, the senior investigator, is a character. She's spunky, courageous and knows her stuff, yet, more often than not, she sticks her foot in her mouth, rocks the boat with law enforcement, and wants to hide her head in the sand. Michael on the other hand, is a rookie investigator taking the lead. He has a good head on his shoulders, and often keeps Beth out of the hot spot. Those two are made for each other, whether they stay on that path or not, is still anyone's guess. There is some faith content, but it is by no means "preachy".

Mary did a great job of keeping me guessing during most of this novel. She offers quite a few choices for murder suspects, yet it is not easy to pin point which one may have committed the crime. Just the kind of mystery I enjoy! She also puts a nice spin on true Christianity, love, and forgiveness. I think it gives the reader lots of food for thought.

Mary introduces us to a new character in this book, whom I hope will be the main person in the sequel - if there is one (fingers crossed here). I can't say there was anything specific, I totally hated or disliked. Beth's attitude did get on my nerves a little at times, but knowing it stemmed from her insecurities helps a little in letting it pass.

For those of you who haven't read this series at all, no worries, each book is somewhat of a stand alone. Of course the main Price Investigation characters carry over in each book, so it's nice if you know them in advance, but even if you don't you can pick up anywhere.

I would recommend this book for mystery lovers. It does involve an affair, so if that is sensitive nature to you then you may want to avoid it, but other wise it is great entertainment.

Disclosure: I was blessed with a free copy of this book by Harvest House Publishers to read. I was not required to review this book in a positive manner. All opinions are my own.

I was particularly excited to read this book in the series as I’ve been to Savannah several times, and couldn’t wait to see it brought to life on the page.

The setting didn’t quite live up to my expectations in that regard; earlier books (especially the first, in New Orleans, and second, in Memphis) created a clearer and more vivid sense of place than this one did. I also felt like I’d read it before many moons ago, or it was perhaps super similar to one I’d already read—not sure. Some details just seemed crazy familiar.

Still, an enjoyable installment, and fun to catch up on characters from previous books and what they are up to now.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the previous books in the Mary Ellis Secrets of the South series so I was thrilled to have the chance to review “Sunset in Old Savannah”. As a lifetime southern gal, I love reading books about my part of the world, especially mysteries and suspense so this book was especially welcome.

Readers who got to know Michael and Elizabeth in the previous novel “Magnolia Moonlight” should be familiar with the tension between the two of them and might well wonder how an assignment working together in Savannah will turn out. What begins as routine surveillance turns into a murder mystery that Michael and Elizabeth just can’t ignore. What fun to follow them on their investigation as one secret after another is revealed. And could their animosity possibly change into affection?

The plot of “Magnolia Moonlight” moves along at a steady clip with plenty of twists and surprises that kept me guessing nearly until the end. Strong characters and excellent dialogue kept things moving right along. A secondary mystery involving a newly introduced character added depth to the story and left me anticipating the next book in the series (I hope!).

I love this series so much that I would be happy if it continues for several more volumes. I don’t think I could possibly grow bored with it. I hope you’re listening Mary Ellis!

This is the fourth book in the Secrets of the South Mysteries series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. It takes place in Savannah, Georgia, a place I have visited often yet I read of sites I will be returning to check out myself. Strangely I have never heard of Tybee Island, just another reason to visit my neighboring state. The fact that it was set in Georgia is the reason I wanted to read the book as I had lived there for over four years.

Michael Preston & Elizabeth Kirby, friends and investigative partners are hired by Evelyn Doyle to find evidence that her husband is cheating on her. When than man turns up dead, Evelyn is the prime suspect and Mike & Beth set out to find the killer and clear their client's name. They hire on Kaitlin, but she has a past of her own. Not to mention the evolving relationship between Mike and Beth.

The two main characters are well written and believable. Their faith guides their lives and actions. Even Evelyn shows herself to vulnerable behind her wealthy elite attitude. Again the descriptions written bring back memories for me and make me wonder how I could have missed so much. The plot is thought our and moves quickly and smoothly. I am sorry I had missed the previous three books in the series and look forward to reading them as well. I hope I have a chance to read more in Mary Ellis' Secrets of the South series. in the future.

My rating of "Sunset in Old Savannah" is 4.75 out of 5 stars. I hope this review has been helpful to you.

The fourth book in the Secrets of the South Mysteries finds Mike and Beth in Savannah, Georgia. The funny thing to me is that I have been there twice and never knew all that I was missing. Of course, I am forever grateful that I missed out on the mystery, murder, and mayhem that kept Mike and Beth busy, even though I enjoyed reading about their experiences. The rich lady whom they had gone to help find out if her husband was cheating on her was quite a character. It seemed Beth would never get away from her with her frequent calls. I have also been to Tybee Island but I only went to see the lighthouse. The descriptions of the home alone makes me want to go back and find that house. It sounded like such a beautiful setting with amazing views of the ocean. What appeared to be a growing relationship between Mike and Beth was quite interesting to follow. I think I recall Mike telling Beth that they were no longer in the eighth grade but at times they acted more like school kids than adults as they seemed to tiptoe around each other, unsure about the next step. Frankly, I found that more real than some stories I read where the characters are experiencing all kinds of tingling in their spines, jolts in their bellies, and toes turning up just from a single touch. The assignment for Mike and Beth becomes much more involved than finding proof that a husband has a girlfriend on the side. As the story ended, I wanted to learn that there is another book in the series, but I was left in suspense. One can always hope.

Needs More Heart

I’m most familiar with Mary Ellis’s writing because of her superb Amish writings ( Wayne County series, the New Beginnings , the Miller Family series, and a host of wonderful novellas.) Ellis has a way of charming her readers in to a storyline. So when I was given the opportunity to read her latest release, Sunset in Old Savannah, even though it was not Amish, I jumped at the chance.

Sunset in Old Savannah is second in her Secrets of the South Mysteries series and follows private investigator partners Beth Kirby and Michael Preston. They are sent on assignment from their Mississippi office to Savannah, Georgia. In Savannah, their mission is to spy for one of Savannah’s high-society husbands. What IS he up to? All too soon this seemingly easy gig becomes a story of intrigue and unanswered questions. Can Beth and Michael unravel it all before it’s too late?

I was given Sunset in Old Savannah in exchange for my honest review. While it can be read as a stand-alone, many references are made from the first novel. So it looks like I need to catch up! As a Georgia girl, I will say that Ellis captured the southern vibe very well…and I think I’d like to have PI Beth as one of MY friends! That being said, Sunset in Old Savannah is not my favorite by Mary Ellis. She’s a fantastic storyteller – I just prefer her Amish writings, which seem to have more depth and more “heart.” But decide for yourself and check it out!

This is the first book in the Secrets of the South Mysteries that I have read. Actually, this is the first book that I have read written by Mary Ellis. This book is the fourth in the series and I really wish I had read the previous three before picking up this one. I think I would have enjoyed this book much more if I had read the books in order.

The mystery and suspense portions of the storyline were very good. I definitely sprinted to the end of the book to try to figure out who had done it.

The characters themselves I could not connect with well. Reading the third book where Beth and Michael make their appearance would have helped since it would have laid the foundation of their relationship. I was confused during most of their "outside of work" relationship because there wasn't really any hint at how they felt about each other until, all of a sudden, they were both in love. Their romantic relationship seemed almost an after-thought in the plot and felt too contrived.

Michael is definitely the non-stereotypical unlikely hero, which I did appreciate. I had a hard time connecting with Beth and couldn't understand her. Beth and Michael did have some funny dialogue but I felt lost in some of their banter and couldn't follow their conversation at times.

Still, the story was fascinating and Savannah is quite beautiful. I received ARC from Harvest House Publishers via NetGalley. I was not required to give a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

I truly enjoyed meeting Michael and Beth in the previous novel, so it was great to read even more about them in this one. Their back-and-forth banter is amusing and snarky---the latter is mostly on Beth's part. Beth is the senior investigator and Michael is the rookie---something obvious in the previous novel. In this one, though, she seems more the rookie and Michael the experienced, cool-headed investigator.

If you're looking for hardcore mystery/suspense/romance in the vein of Dee Henderson or Lynette Eason, you'll be disappointed. This is a lighter story that centers more on the relationship between Beth and Michael than anything else, although it's hardly romance-novel sizzling. For me, it left a few questions unanswered, such as this one: What made such a well-liked and generous, supposedly happily-married man like their client's husband stray? It didn't make much sense to me and the situation came across as a bit contrived.

Overall, it was a fun read for that time when you're looking for pure entertainment.

I received this book from the publisher. My opinions are my own.

The best in the series yet!

The case of the cheating husband is not making Beth Kirby being interested in the slightest. So sleazy! But when the said husband is found dead, Beth fights as a lioness for the innocence of his sweet wife Elizabeth.

Ms Ellis gets better and better! I have thoroughtly enjoyed this book - captivating, smart, and with the best character developments in the series yet.
Yay for the romantic development between Michael and Beth! This move was a bit visible in the previous novel, but here it is in the full bloom - with all the stumbles, tension and mistakes. I love them individually and I love them together. Michael transitioned from the nerdy to the hunky believably (which is not always the case) and Beth can well see that - so well that she is willing to risk to fight her insecurity about being in a relationship.
The case is the best in the series - intelligent, smart, with a lot of brisk moves and cues solved along the way.
And Kaitlyn seems as a great addition - I hope there is a novel in works about her!

This book was fine. A friend purchased it for me because my name is Savannah and the book is set is Savannah. I don't think they realized this book is part of a series.

I didn't mind the main characters. They were nice enough and their backstories (what little bit of them was in this book) were interesting. I fell in love with the older lady whose case the detectives were trying to solve. She is in every sense a typical Southern Belle and I loved that about her.

The mystery component was good and the who-dunnit element wasn't predictable. I enjoyed the banter between these two detectives as they worked through the cases. It seemed very natural and like something that would be a part of an actual case for private detectives.

Overall, this book was fine as a stand-alone, but might have been far more enjoyable if I had read the previous books in the series.

In Sunset in Old Savannah Michael Preston and Elizabeth (Beth) Kirby are sent to Savannah, Georgia to catch a husband cheating on his wife. When they get the goods on him, Beth is shocked that the wife plans to forgive him. I loved the way Mary Ellis wove God’s grace throughout the book. Her characters are flawed but loveable—except for the ones who aren’t supposed to be. And even then, Mary writes them in such a way that you find yourself emphasizing with them.

Mary also had me guessing to the end about the villain. While this is the fourth book in the series, you don’t have to read the others to enjoy this one, but you’re missing out if you don’t go back and read those as well.

A bit of mystery and a dash of romance. That's how I'd describe this title.

While it is book #4 in the series, I felt that the author did a great job writing it for people to read as a standalone or introduction to the series. There was enough backstory woven into the novel that you knew there are books which came before this one.

Another great read for nights when you want something a little light, but still have a puzzle to solve as you go along. I haven't read the other titles which came before it, but plan to seek them out soon.

This was a great ending to the Secrets of the South Mysteries. I liked all of the characters in these books, but especially Michael, as he reminded me of myself in some ways..... I enjoyed reading more about him and Beth and their working and dating relationship.

As with the other books, the suspense was top notch. I probably liked this book the best of the four, and am sad to see the series end.

Mary Ellis has once again written a wonderful romantic suspense. Lots of intrigue and the perfect amount of romance fill this novel. From page one's southern September heat to the very last word, I loved the interaction between the many characters, but especially between Mike and Beth. I highly recommend this novel.

I received this novel free from the publisher/author. This review is my opinion of the book.

The Price Investigators are on the job and working a case of infidelity that turns into a murder case. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. This book labeled as a Christian, Murder & Thriller.  I found it a wonderful mix that had all three with.. yes, a nice romance as well!
I requested a copy through NetGalley and my honest opinion and review is voluntary.

Could not quite get into this story. It was hard to connect to the two detectives, BUT it is the first I've read in the series so I should probably go back and read the others.

One caveat . . .I wanted to know more about Savannah and never felt like I had really been there.

The mystery is VERY GOOD. Could not figure out the villain until the end.

Just finished this mystery and was quite surprised. I readi it for a book club and I just thought it would be a regular ole mystery. But Mary Ellis made the characters and plot believable and kept me guessing. Plus the PI's were working in Savannah, GA, one of my favorite places to visit. A nice, quick read with several twists and turns.
