A pastor's daughter and long-time ministry leader in issues relevant to the Church, Lisa is the founder of Ministry Strong and the popular Jesus Over Everything podcast. Her love runs deep to see people pursue Jesus for life, grow deep roots of faith, and walk strong in the midst of a world that so often seems to have gone crazy. She has done master's work in Marriage and Family Counseling, been featured on numerous media outlets in print, online, radio, podcast and TV through the years, and advocated for Compassion, International. Lisa and her husband of 24 years live in North Carolina with their 3 mostly-grown children who still (mostly) come home for dinner.
Needed a better copy editor, but the content is excellent. Exactly what I needed to hear (which was part of why I kept putting it off for so long after I started it — I knew it would hit me where it hurt, and I was right. But it was a necessary hurt, and one that will be helpful in the long run). Highly recommend!
Even though this was written in 2015/16 it's still every bit as relevant in 2020 and will be for years. Lisa Whittle challenges the reader to fight to focus on God's truth rather than giving into cultural events or fears. We do this by fighting like warriors
The number one way we stop living below our spiritual potential is, we learn to walk in the authority of God. In this, we have to first understand that, according to Ephesians 1, God is the highest authority in this entire world and through our relationship with him, because of his great love for us and his great grace, we walk covered by that authority.
He decided that was the way it would be, and for us to walk through this life scared and unsettled and unsure, wavering in our belief and faith in him, is for us to live below our spiritual potential. Far too many of us have lived this kind of life for far too long. It’s time to rise to our spiritual potential, and that’s what I pray for the reader of this book.
Lisa Whittle doesn’t pull any punches in Put Your Warrior Boots On. She writes truthfully and succinctly with one goal. To point the reader to Jesus. In a time when we are seeing the church torn apart this book is a vital reminder that when we put God first we can get through anything together.
When those who say they worship Jesus choose idols such as power, money, and worldly influence they not only destroy their witness, they make our jobs harder as well. We fight for God’s truth when we strap on our warrior boots and keep God’s word as our priority.
I just finished reading this book, and I can't wait to read it again!. Whittle gives solid instruction on becoming a Christian warrior through the use of Scripture, encouragement, and a very realistic appreciation of how difficult it is in our world today to maintain hope and Christian strength. The book is ideal for a faith-sharing group, as the author provides outlines for study group sessions for each of the Christian declarations in the book. I read the book solo, but now want to invite friends to read it so we can discuss it together and encourage each other in becoming "Jesus strong." Whittle's writing is clear and honest, engaging the reader from the first page, making the book easy to read and digest, and her bonus 'activities' are intriguing as well as motivating. If you're tired of feeling that the world is out of control, you need to read this book to reinvigorate your faith life and practice.
This book was provided to me at no cost from Netgalley.com for my honest review. But I'm buying a hard copy for all the times I know I will be returning to read it again!
What a great book! I discovered Whittle through her podcast a little over a year ago. I love her straightforwardness. It is obvious that she has no time for chit chat and idle talk.. there is work to be done! Warrior Boots encourages and challenges the reader to get ready and GO.. do the thing.. be who Christ has called you do be.. walk out the Word in obedience.. boldly.. unashamedly.
I tend to mark up books and this one looks like it has been through an ink war zone. It is truly that good a read. Now the task at hand is to take what I've read and apply it to my life. Not just rave about a good book!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book but I actually really liked it. I found it to be super helpful and I loved how it's geared towards women with busy lives. The author talks a lot about how when it comes down to it, praying is what will help more than anything else and I definitely needed that reminder. I loved the questions at the end of each chapter and I think Put Your Warrior Boots On would make a great book for a women's Bible study or just discussion with friends.
No need to fear sharing your faith. No need to fear showing how much you love God. In this new book, the reader is encouraged to stand strong and share the love of God with others. Learn how to be an encourager and inspiration and show the strength of God's love and mercy. Great book. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher and this is my honest opinion.
Lisa has written a challenging and thought provoking book that causes us to rethink the way we walk out our faith. As a parent, minister of the gospel and child of God, I am moved to sharpen my thinking, to know the word, to know MY GOD and to ask for discernment daily. If you are challenged by life in any way... you HAVE to read this book.
This book is very encouraging also convicting also inspiring . No matter where you're at and your walk with Christ you need to read this book, it will help you If you are a new convert or a seasoned Christian. It will definitely inspire you To be a warrior for Christ, it will inspire you to learn to be a better you through Jesus.
Powerful book in which Lisa urges us as believers to LIVE out our faith, bravely. The chapter where she discussed "the ministry of sameness" was especially relevant and inspiring to me.
This was an excellent book. I highlighted and wrote a ton of notes. Given as gifts to many women I know who needed the same message I did!! Great book!!
Growing up in the church I've heard the term spiritual warrior more times than I can count. While I mostly knew what that was, I didn't always know how to be a Spiritual warrior. How to I fight Jesus strong? How do I go up against an enemy that wants me dead? How do I battle for my family, faith and friends? How do I live unafraid and march forward in victory? How do I remain strong and brave when I feel far from it?
In her new book, Put Your Warrior Boots On, Lisa Whittle teaches us how to experience the joy and release of trusting God to help us live a God-ignited life. She teaches us how to confirm truth and walk away from misleading messages, and she helps us develop passion for defending our beliefs.
Whether you are a new Christian or a mature Christian, this book is for you. We all need this teaching, this reminder on how to live Jesus strong and be the warrior we've been called to be.
Put Your Warrior Boots On is not only a book, but a study guide is included. This all-in-one study is perfect for joining together with your Bible study group, friends, family, neighbors and church as you learn to live the warrior life together.
I LOVE this book, it is inspiring and fires me up! It is a call to put on our Warrior Boots to be a soldier for our faith and for the Lord Jesus, in a fast changing world. We must stand firm for our values and our religious freedoms that are quickly being challenged and threatened. Many people even Christians don't even realize, but you will when it's too late. If you want to be Jesus Strong in a world trying to get rid of Jesus, you should read this book and know what you are standing for and why!
This book I used it in a Bible study for women. We all love and enjoyed this book. The author Lisa Whittle she is real. She tells it how it is. Let's us know and understand the way we can Put Your warrior Boots On:Walking Jesus Strong, Once and for All. Is a very easy book to read. The warrior-up. Study is a plus. Highly recommend. Looking for another book to teach. Thank you for writing an amazing book and understand what we can do when we put on those warrior Boots. God bless and thank you again
This book is ok. It isn’t something I’d recommend but was what we had to read for our church’s women’s retreat. I just have issues with these types of books for Christian women, they’re cliche and shallow. It was mediocre. Not horrible but not great.
Raising children in this world, being a truth teller, sharing God's Word and wisdom isn't easy, but if we love people, truly love people, we will want them to now the truth. Right? This book I am reading by Lisa Whittle, Put Your Warrior Boots shares that the most important, life-saving truth is knowing Jesus as our Savior. If we take Jesus seriously and love people, we will desire to share the truth. I couldn't agree more, it was convicting, I don't share nearly enough, as I should. People are seeking, searching to figure out who they are, what is their purpose, but what we miss often times because the world is loud and says the opposite, is that who we are and our purpose all come from God! To understand this we need to truly know Him and share Him with those around us. I am a wife and a mom and those closest to me are my children, so my first calling is to point them to Christ. But it doesn't stop there! These words from Lisa's book "God wants honor. He wants commitment. He wants gratitude. He wants wild, devoted love. He wants to be first. He wants them to remember. He wants them to be honest with themselves about their heart condition. (she is sharing about the reminders from God in Deuteronomy 29:5-9 that Moses was sharing). God wants the same things of us today." Oh, how I need these reminders! Maybe you too? Go get this book!!
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Put Your Warrior Boots On through Harvest House Publisher and Netgalley:
We are reminded in this book that it is not about who we are but about Who Jesus is? And we are reminded too that Fear has nothing on God who has the solution for fear.
The author tells us that there will be times we want to play not pray, but it is praying that saves our lives. We are reminded too that we don't need Spiritual decorations, but declarations,
We are reminded too that though Grace is wonderful, it comes through Holy and Righteous grit. The author points out that a sound mind conquers fear, because it is mostly our thoughts that terrorize us. We are reminded that to have a strong sound mind we have to fortify it with the Word of God.
The questions at the end of each chapter allow this to be useful for either personal study, or for a Women's Bible Study.
I give Put Your Warrior Boots On five out of five stars.
I received this book as an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.
I was so excited to start this book, and it didn't disappoint. This book blew me away.
This book is about overcoming the fear that seems to surround us and becoming the warriors God has called us to be. This book was such an encouragement to me. As a missionary, most people think I'm "fearless" when that couldn't be further from the truth. I deal with fear just as much as anyone else. Lisa talks about how to develop a warrior spirit and how to avoid being overcome by fear. Y'all, I highlighted so much of this book. There is so much wisdom in it, and I really feel like it's a timely book. Everywhere we look, people are terrified but not many are fighting. She talks about being prepared even to the point of death to follow Jesus, warrior boots on. Because we're constantly in a battle whether we know it or not. If you struggle with fear, you need to go to the store or the library and get this book right now.
I am really impressed by this book. I enjoyed how much it felt like a friend sitting at my kitchen table with her hand on my arm, urging me to true strength. At the same time, I loved how it was like a true warrior call, with arms raised and shouts of readiness from deep within.
This book is not only encouraging and convicting, it's practical without being an overwhelming burden. I know I'll be coming back to this book again and again.
This is an easy read but not a light read. If applied, the principles can be life changing, as this book challenges us to walk in biblical authority. I love the message of not living reactionary but Jesus Strong everyday.
I was hooked from the very first few lines. Women need this book. We need to banish fear and believe in the power we have in Jesus Christ. Part of me wanted the cliff notes version of this book. I wanted to skim over some things I thought were redundant and get to the meat. Ms Whittle does a great job of thuroughly describing the current state of affairs. Then she slowly peels back the layers and through stories, bible verses, examples etc she pushes you toward the meat. She does a great job of inticing the reader to realize their current state and push them towards where we should be (or should want to be). Great for all Christians; baby believers and veterans (which doesn't insinuate age... a veteran believer can be 30... and a baby believer can be 75!). I love that Ms Whittle pushed for the Bible study to be apart of the book. Other books make you purchase the "study guide" separate. It's so nice to have it all together. I wish other books were this way too. Love this book.
