This was good. I enjoyed it. All the stories are enjoyable, some more than others. A few of the stories are especially great - the story of a superhero in the '50s, fighting crime while secretly dating a black woman, might have been my favourite. A few stories are wordless, which shows an immense amount of trust in the artists, as they have to carry the story entirely on the visuals. They all succeed. All the artists do great work, though some styles will appeal to different people more than others.
On the whole, this is a very good collection of short stories, and worth reading.
A collection of very very short stories. Most are told more in pictures than than in text, leaving lots of room for personal interpretation. Everything here is well-crafted and meaningful, but my personal favorite was the Leigh Walls story, "Human Nature," thanks to the beautiful art, the raw human emotion, and the chilling futuristic world it creates in just a few pages.
I met Jacques Nyemb at NC ComiCon last year, and his enthusiasm for this project really pulled me in. He's so pleasant and clearly cares a lot about his readers. I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.
