However, the book is just awful. I mean... it's just awful.
Let's break this down.
1.) Horrible dirty talk. Just awful. See my opening quote for an example.

I would NOT be able to take a guy seriously who said this in bed. I would be laughing hysterically and if he was saying this seriously - not as a joke - we would probably never have sex again.
"Isn't it so fucking hot, baby?"
Why are you asking her this during sex? Just shut up and fuck her! Do you have to talk about it so much?!?!? Jeez.
"I am going to tear you up, Vivian, and devour every fucking inch of you.... Tomorrow, you will still feel my big dick in your pussy and will remember everything I have done to you."
UGH.

11.) I find it baffling that Snow doesn't say 'pussy' and 'cunt' and instead says 'pussy hole' and 'cunt hole.' This is terrible. Terrible. It sounds really awful.

Lumberjack is book one in the series, A Real Man, by Jenika Snow. I’ve had this book on my kindle for a long time and finally read it! It took me long enough!
Jake Braxton is thirty five years old. After catching his girlfriend cheating, he’s had it with city life. He packed up and moved to the mountain. He’s lived there for five years now. He works as a lumberjack during the day and lives as a recluse at his cabin the rest of the time. He doesn’t socialize and hasn’t been with a woman in five years.
Vivian Clarke is twenty nine years old. She’s been increasingly unhappy with her life so a week’s vacation up in a mountain cabin is just what she needs. Maybe a hike as soon as she got there was a little too spontaneous but she’s excited to be in the peaceful woods. Only she got turned around and is hopelessly lost. With a big storm on the horizon, she finally spots a cabin with the biggest man she’s ever seen. He offers her safety but can she trust him?
“I’m about to claim every single part of you. I’m about to own every inch of you. And when I’m done with you, Vivian, you’ll know exactly what it’s like to be with a real man.”
Vivian is every fantasy Jake has ever had. And Jake is exactly what Vivian’s been missing with past men she’s known. Their one night together fulfills every desire they could have. This book is hot, hot, hot! Jake is one dirty talking lumberjack. This was a short, steamy read. I loved the epilogues most of all with such a sweet look into their future. I think that was my favorite part of all. I looked through the rest of this series and there are several that interest me. The next one is called Virgin. Much later in the series, I saw another Mountain Man book which is what I am looking for at the moment. You should definitely check out this series. I am positive at least some of the books will grab your interest.

Well, back to Jake. He’s a lumberjack who had lived in the middle of nowhere and had been celibate for five years. One day after answering the door, he found a gorgeous redheaded woman standing there on his doorstep. He couldn’t help but stare at her and felt instantly attracted to her.
Vivian took a week off work and went straight to a cabin in the mountains. She went hiking and got lost, and then there was someone’s cabin in her sight. She had to decide whether to stay out all night in the woods or risk asking whoever in the cabin for help.
There was not much going on in this novella. The plot mostly focused on sexual fulfillment but I wouldn’t say it revolved around sex only. There were some impressive moments that simply hit the spot for me. I found the story was fun, hot, sexy, lovely, and a little bit hilarious at times. Normally I’m not the type of person who enjoys the shallow plots and superficial characters, but for some unknown reason, this book was just more than fine with me.
Despite its very short length, this novella could be considered a well-written and compelling one. If you’re looking for a sexy smutty short story, go grab this one—it’s for you!

This book?
I didn't see the number of pages, so when I saw that I had about 5% left of the book I panicked (again), thinking I don't have the whole book.
Still, what can I say, it was a hot one!
I mean, it had its bad parts, but it didn't lack in hotness! I really liked the guy (that big, alpha male) and she wasn't too bad either. And I really appreciated the drama-free book!
Still, as I said before, I think it's almost impossible to write a really good book (even a 3.5 one) in under 150 pages (I'd say 200 but I've read some promising ones at less than that). So, as predicted, the characters didn't really feel like they had a relationship, they didn't grow, and I wanted to know more details about stuff (and if you know me, you know I hate details, so this is big!).
All in all, a really good short book (nook?), though it lacked some pretty essential items in a romance (but hey, it made me feel stuff (and not anger), so it deserves 3 stars).

This author can be hit or miss with me, but with a cover like that, there was no way I wasn't going to read this one. And lucky me, this was a good one. I especially loved the epilogue.

This story is about Jake, a recluse lumberjack who hasn’t been with a woman in five years, and Vivian, a woman stuck in a rut in her city life who goes on vacation in the woods just to get away from it all. When Vivan gets lost hiking in the woods (because APPARENTLY she has never heard of a compass OR a flashlight) she ends up on Jake’s doorstep right before a storm hits. Cheesy? Absolutely. Will I allow it? Also, yes.
My issue with this had nothing to do with how cheesy and unrealistic I found the story itself and everything to do with word choices. The only reason to read this is for lumberjack flavoured smut. I mean, what’s not to love about this concept? Our hero is basically a barbarian. He hasn’t had sex for FIVE YEARS O.o… Five fucking years?! Oh my god. That’s just NOT healthy. And then an unsuspecting woman stumbles into the cabin of same man and…. Boom. ALL.THE.SEX. All that lumberjack…. UNF. Gimme that BEARD. Gimme that plaid flannel. Gimme those manual labour muscles and gruff mannerisms. So much potential…. Alas, this was just not very good.
The smut itself isn’t very well written at all. It reminded me a bit of Alexa Riley’s stuff, actually. All the elements are there but the string of words and thoughts is squicky and gross. I don’t know why authors choose to include so much creamy talk but OH MY GOD I HATE IT! I also don’t care for the whole draining my cock with her pussy business, it’s just not sexy to me. *shudders*

I needed a quick smutty read while I waited for a book to hit my kindle, unfortunately this one was just to cheesy.

Lumberjack was just an okay read for me, which is probably my fault as I hyped it up in my head and let the cover distract me. 'A Real Man', those are some big shoes to fill and for me he wasn't as real of a man as I wanted him to be, but then again this is all very subjective. It was super-insta and just a bit over the top for me, the entire thing was rushed with everything the author wanted us to gain from this book. I do suggest you give it a shot, after all this is only my opinion.

This was a short read, and as long as you expect that what you are getting is a very sexy read; then you won't be disappointed. There is no huge depth to the story or the characters. I basically would class this as "Lumberjack porn" if there is even such a thing! LOL
It was hot at times, and I don't mind that as long as that is what I am expecting. I thought there could have been a great story added to this; but it great for a quick and easy read.
A word of caution though; DO NOT read it in the grocery store line up!!! It honestly is impossible not to get a red face while reading....also, you end up always looking over your shoulder wondering if people can read the words from where they are standing!!! I really would be embarrassed if the wrong person saw what I was reading!!! Talking about ten inches of Monster man meat might not be to everyone's liking!!!!! LOL

I've never been one to reward mediocracy, and even at what this book is - a short smut with a HEA - it's mediocre.

Trapped in monotony and smothered by a city offering too much and men offering too little, she goes off to the woods and finds wood from a bearded lumberjack.

Escaping from betrayal, Jake finds the solitude of being a lumberjack living in the middle of nowhere absolutely wonderful... His cock just doesn't share the gratitude for the solitude.
He needs a woman. She needs a real man.

This isn't a plot-driven book, but if you're going to have a damn plot device, then at least take some effort for it to be logical.

Too many repetitive phrases are used for this to be so short. For example, I lost count of how many times he said some variation of, "I haven't been with a woman in five years."

It's a formula for a certain romance reader of •Insta lust • smutty sex • mine • HEA , and it being done with no angst, no OW/OM drama, no push/pull, etc that turn readers off.
Eh, it's really about the smut. The sex scenes are okay. Problem is... Quite frankly, it's nothing I haven't read in a hundred other books that weren't filled with grammar errors and holes in what little plot points were attempted.

Short, super hot but lacking the middle. We got a good beginning with a good background. Then a bunch of hot sex and nothing but a sudden end. So while I enjoyed it, I missed the middle. It was like and Oreo with no stuffing!

I want to like it more than I did but it's not as good as I wanted it to be. It feels like there's something missing.
The story is about Jake, 35 and Vivian, 29.

This was a perfect story!
Jake, our hero was the celibate lumberjack aka mountain man in the tale by the same title, "Lumberjack." He was the strong quiet type until he met the one, city girl Vivian.
Jake had lived in the city for the longest until he was betrayed by his cheating ex girlfriend and his male friend. He tells his family what happened and he leaves the big city behind without a second glance!
Five years later and still celibate, he's made a home for himself working in a small cabin town as a lumberjack and kept to himself although invited by co-workers to come to town and 'score' as the men said it... But no, that was the life for Jake and all his alphaness! He just waited it out until...Vivian!
Vivian on the other hand is a sassy city girl who has just broke up with an asshole of a boyfriend. She needed a break from it all, the ex, the city, her job so she rented a cabin in a small town, Jake's town. They met perchance when Vivian g0t lost while hiking. The sun was setting and through the trees she sees a lone cabin off the beaten trail. Now imagine all the horror stories about the isolated cabin and the murderer! Well Vivian was very scared with those thoughts but buckled down and knocked on the door, etc.. ..
I have given away so much of the story in my play-by-by status glance but know this it is a very, very, very good read from the beginning to the very end.
I loved Jake and admired the heroine, Vivian for giving her all to this fierce and very celibate alpha male! (lol) And no this book was not all about the sex... just read it to see!
Also the next book in the series based by Snow's summary, well the next hero will be a... virgin!

This was short, smutty, insta love and low angst. It was a nice way to pass an hour. It is quick so you don't get a lot of build up before they get together and it ends with a HEA.
