The crew of the Independence barely survived their first encounter with the empire that rules Wild Space. Now they must learn to transition from a mission of exploration to a mission of survival.
The crew has suffered many casualties. Many more are suffering from the after effects of walking the thin line between life and death. Now they must find ways to overcome the emotional damage that is ripping crew members apart. On top of that, they must also scrape together parts to get the Independence back online.
But before they can even catch a breath and focus on reclaiming everything they have lost, they discover that an enemy ship is in route. They have hours to prepare. With no engines, no shields, and no weapons, the clock of their impending destruction is ticking.
Wild Reclamation, is the 2nd book in Wild Space Series 1. It is best to read this series in order beginning with Wild Onslaught.
After his third-grade teacher finished reading the C.S. Lewis classic "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe", Jason M. Brooks knew he wanted to become a writer and create vast worlds for readers to get lost in. Within weeks, Jason self-published his first book using only notebook paper. He used carbon paper for mass production and then sold his first book to a first grader on his bus for twenty-five cents. Thus, his legendary career began!

If you read my review for the first book in the Wild Space series, you'll know that I wasn't a big fan of it. Now this book is a whole new ball of wax. I LOVED IT!
This is the type of writing that I expect from Jason M. Brooks. We get to see the characters evolve and also see them in their struggles as they deal with everything that happened in Onslaught. What I enjoyed most was the teaser at the end of the book. He always uses the epilogue to tease what's going to happen next. It's kind of like the tags at the end of Marvel movies. I really appreciate it because it wets my appetite for the next book.
The great thing about the Wild Space series is the fact that they are short reads. I read this in the course of a day, mostly on my breaks at work and on the commute on the subway. It's a fun way to be entertained.
I'm looking forward to the next book. Can't wait to see the payoff of what was set up in the epilogue!
This was more like it . This was the second book in the series and man did it make a big change . I'm glad I gave the second book a chance because it was great . Full of action and the storyline was well developed with things fitting in place for book three . Nice job Mr Brooks.
A prologue would've been nice. This book cannot be read without the first. After reading 30 percent in, you will still not know how the ship was damaged, what the mission is, who the enemy is, why most (if not all) the experience crew members are dead, and why it reads like a Trek spin-off. If you like books about people with limited skill and resources trying to fix a ship, then this book is for you.
On the plus side, the author has skill. I might get the first book, but it will not change my opinion of this one.
