Celebrate Recovery Participant's Guide #1

Stepping Out of Denial into God's Grace Participant's Guide 1: A Recovery Program Based on Eight Principles from the Beatitudes

Rate this book
The Celebrate Recovery Participant’s Guides are essential tools for the personal recovery journey.  In the six lessons in Guide 1: Stepping Out of Denial Into God's Grace, you will experience the first 3 of the 8 recovery

1   Realize I'm not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. "Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor" (Matthew 5:3).

2   Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that he has the power to help me recover. "Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).

3   Conciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control. "Happy are the meek" (Matthew 5:5).

By working through the lessons and exercises found in each of the four Participant’s Guides you will begin to experience the true peace and serenity you have been seeking, restore and develop stronger relationships with others and with God, and find freedom from life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

All the scriptures have been updated to the new NIV 2011 version.

Book One covers principles 1-3: (1) Realize I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. “Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor.” Matthew 5:3a TEV; (2) Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 TEV, NIV; (3) Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. “Happy are the meek.” Matthew 5:5a TEV. As well as the first three steps of the twelve-step program: 1. We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18 NIV; 2. We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 NIV; 3. We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 NIV.

Just went through this with a friend as we're considering starting a Celebrate Recovery group for our community. Fantastic workbook! I'm even more excited for the second one.

This one was very foundational and walked through salvation and denial. Solid start to a great series.

Sanctification through acronyms. Thank God the actual fellowship is much more helpful than the books.

First volume completed! The Celebrate Recovery program is as deep as you allow it to be. By the Lord’s grace, I went all in, and so the results were rich. May the truth set me free!

The first step was denial. I needed to recognize that I was powerless over that which held me in a chokehold. My life had become unmanageable.

The second step was to come to believe in a higher power, a force greater than myself. Only what transcends me can restore me to sanity.

The third step was to make a decision to turn my entire life and will over to the care of God. I need His direction to make ANY significant progress in this journey of life.

This is book one in the 12-Step program. This program is amazing, it allows you to dig deeper. It is a Biblical program as well so as you are going through the program it is allowing us to keep Jesus as our foundation. To God be the Glory!!

It has been 4 years since I went through the CR program. It was absolutely life changing! I have felt the need for a bit of a refresher course so I'm glad the workbooks are available through Amazon. I will say though that if you haven't been through the program, you need to find a local church that runs one. It's vitally important to go through with others. This is not a solitary journey. Also, CR isn't just for people dealing with substance abuse issues. It's for ANYONE dealing with hurts, hangups or habits - which is pretty much everyone!

I bought the Kindle edition of this booklet so I could share my highlights and notes. I have tried to start this booklet many times but I am encouraged this year to make my way through it as part of my 2019 Reading Challenge. I want the spiritual experience of completing this series.

This first step study book was great

Very good study guide ... The step study has changed the lives of men already and this is only the first of 4 books. I recommend everyone with a hurt, hangup or habit get into a step study.
