Mami and Tomoki have always shared everything in life, they are identical twins, yet so different in character and personality: Mami tender and helpless, courted by boys to whom she doesn't never "no" for excessive kindness, Tomoki with a strong sense of duty and a great spirit of sacrifice, would do anything to see her sister happy. But comes a time, however, when one realizes there are things cannot be shared, especially when it is something extremely rare and unique .... just like an alien?!
Cutesy. Heart warming. Silly. And definitely a good hangover cure from the emotional distress Orange dealt to me.
I just adore the art style of Ichigo Takano , and while the plot is very silly, the friendships in this book are just as amazing as they were in Orange. I also really liked how things didn't play out the way I thought they would. I rather really liked the ending.
I loved this short story which was included at the end of the second Orange collection. This was SO cute and fluffy and follows the romantic lives of twin sisters Mami and Chiki. Mami always attracts the boys but Chiki never does despite them being identical!
It was a super adorable read with a couple of cute manga guys (of course!) and a tonne of fun.
Definitely a pick-me-up in this current blizzard season!
I would never have picked this up on my own volition and solely read it because it was included one chapter at a time at the end of each volume of Orange. So take my review with a grain of salt because I’m clearly not the target audience.
It was such a bizarre choice to pair this with Orange. The author claimed it was acting as a palate cleanse from the heavy emotional nature of Orange, which I guess is true because it was so light and fun, but it just felt trite and awkward in comparison. It was especially jarring reading the final chapter after the emotional rollercoaster of Orange vol. 5.
The tones of the two mangas are so wildly disparate, the target audiences are completely different, and the plot structure of Haruiro Astronaut was so weak in comparison that it really didn’t stand a chance of being independently assessed for its own merit. The storyline might work great for people who are into fluffy, cutesy high school drama mangas, but because that’s not what I gravitate towards, it was too cheesy, ridiculous and frankly cringey for me.
I also didn’t like any of the characters; they were so over the top, especially the male characters, who were just creepy, controlling and aggressively pushy but whose actions were somehow supposed to be viewed as cute and romantic.
I read this one as it was included in the Orange completed volume 2 book.
At first I wasn’t in with it as part of it seemed a bit too juvenile. I mean I even thought the guy was cool, but wasn’t ready for that old trope of cool guy that’s not nice. I didn’t know where this was going to go. I can say don’t be afraid with this one. It’s going to be just as heartfelt. I almost wish I could have gotten a more drawn out story with these characters.
I’m conflicted about Chili’s choices. On the one hand, I like that she picked the unpopular guy. On the other hand, he seemed extremely stalker-ish, and their relationship seemed really problematic to me. I feel like I would have given this 4 stars if the relationships would have made more sense. I just don’t feel like any of them had chemistry.

This was a really fun little slice of life story. And in all honesty it probably could have bumped to 5 star very easily if it had been given some more time to flesh itself out a little. But what is here is good and definitely worth your time.
It has a lot of tropes, but tropes become tropes for a reason and there are many of them that I like even if done well. I think this one pulls them off really well.
Two sisters who care so much for each other that they end up getting in each others love life way. Enter 3 boys and a little drama and let the silliness* ensue. I loved the personalities of every character in this, but especially the loud mouth Tatsuaki. I think in real life he would drive me nuts, but fit in this story he is hilarious (and unfortunately relatable).
This short manga probably wouldn't take you more than 2 hours to read and being tacked on at the end of the 2nd Orange compilation I was happy I got to read it and encourage others to do so too.
Well that was…interesting. I guess. (And why does it have that title? It’s not a sci-fi 🤨)
It was vastly different from Orange (recommend NOT reading right after you finish Orange, by the way—the tone is just totally different) and not really in a good way, in my opinion.
It’s a typical high school drama story scaled down to a short story and in that genre it’s fine. The problem I had was the stalker guy portrayed as romantic and cute (which was NOT the case for me—I thought it was super creepy and problematic) and one of the other guys tended to tell his girlfriend what to do and be kinda naggy and bossy over everything she did. The twins also didn’t have much personality, but I guess there’s only so much you can do in a short story manga in regards to that.
Not my favorite, and I wouldn’t ever read it again.
Content: mild swearing; stalkerish, screaming girls over a guy; shirtless guy; a guy grabs two girls (nothing happens and they are rescued); a guy stalks a girl he likes (this is played as cute and possibly romantic); mild bullying
The bonus story of Orange: The Complete Collection 2 very unexpected ending I really enjoy the story and very refreshing characters sort of. Im looking forward to more of Ichigo Takano's manga
I have a hard time seeing these characters in high school because of how childish they all were. Yui is way too dominant and controlling, and the other guy was definitely a stalker. Some icky vibes for sure and none of the characters felt like they had substance.
This was a really cute one-book-edition manga romance about two twin girls in school. I enjoyed the art, and it's short and sweet enough to make you smile.
Cute little short story added to the back of the Orange Complete Collection volume 2. It wasn't a patch on Orange, but was a very cute, fluffy, light-hearted cleanser after the emotional rollercoaster Orange put me through, so it worked quite well having it there straight after Orange.
I didn't see the ending coming, but did find it all very cute and fluffy on the whole. There were a few little problematic bits, but nothing so big that it ruined the story (I recognise that some of them may be cultural differences).
Overall, a very cute, fun quick read that is worth picking up if you have it in the back of your copy of Orange!
This little five chapter manga is included in the back of the Orange Volume 2 Complete Collection edition I have and Takano is clear in encouraging readers to find it as a fun and refreshing break from the heaviness of Orange. Can I confess something? I am an emotional masochist. I loved the pain that Orange brought to my heart and the joy it brought at the same time. This was a pile of stupid and idiotic characters running about their high school, dating each other, and wanting to "fall in love". It was cringe inducing. To read it the day after reading Orange was an insult to me.
'Haruiro Astronaut' is my first Manga that I've ever read I was planning to read 'Orange' as my first Manga because I've seen the anime of orange and I liked it so much. But when I ordered the complete collection I got the second one of the two volumes first and on the back there was this out of this world Manga that is Haruiro Astronaut. I had such a fun time reading this book. It's my favorite Manga of all time.It has nothing to do with astronauts lmao. P.S I like Chiki way better than Mami.
*3.5 ish to 4 I cant decide This was included after the end of Orange and it was honestly a nice little fluffy and silly manga to read after the heaviness of Orange. The plot is silly and I it went by kind of quick and I wanted a bit more connection to the characters but the author said she just wanted to make a cute little story and it definitely achieved that. Not a manga I wouldve picked up but I think it being at the end of Orange really put it at a higher rating.
When I started reading this story, I was kind of afraid about the message it would convey. The story begins in an almost 'problematic' way but, at the end, everything makes sense and it conveys an important message regarding owning our decisions. Because of that, it is important to fully read it.
I read this because it was at the end of the second Orange omnibus. It's not really my type of story, so I probably never would have picked it up on its own. There were some...cute moments, I guess? But mostly, it was kind of weird and silly—and also not what any high school girl should use as a reference for dating.
