About the author

Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Great in some places, but sometimes dragging a bit.

Wielki finał tuż tuż, a ja zaczynam mieć coraz większe obawy.

Kolejny tom z rzędu można opisać sytuację bohaterów tak samo. Wybrani nadal podróżują do Doliny Ludzi Lodu, a Tengel Zły wysyła różne monstra, które mają im przeszkodzić. Jednak oprócz opisów walk z tymi wrogami nie zabraknie prywaty wybrańców.

Skąd pojawiły się moje obawy? Niestety zaczynam wierzyć, że zgodnie z przysłowiem "krowa, która dużo ryczy daje mało mleka" to tutaj podróż i cała masa potyczek doprowadzi nas do kiepskiego zakończenia. Zaczynam czuć, że ostatni tom oraz pokonanie Tengela Złego będzie najbardziej rozczarowującym zakończeniem tego tasiemca, bo już na tym etapie zaczyna się robić bardzo wtórnie oraz mało wciągająco (to już trzeci tom gdzie bohaterowie idą do Doliny, Tengel posyła wrogów, a zmienia się w zasadzie tylko prywatne życie wybrańców). Jak na wielki finał, który już puka do drzwi, to w fabule tego tomu jest bardzo mało mięsa i człowiek ma ochotę przekartkować tę książkę. Brakuje jakiegoś dobrego plot twistu albo żeby bohaterowie zderzyli się z całkowicie nowymi trudnościami, które byłyby odświeżające dla tej ich podróży.

Oczywiście to nie jest zły tom, więc nie dostanie jednej gwiazdki, ale z drugiej strony jest mocno przeciętnie.

Czekam na finał, bo już mi się ta końcówka ciągnie, ale słuchało się całkiem przyjemnie. Pojawiło się trochę starych bohaterów.

Tudom, hogy a végső küzdelemnek nehéznek és hosszadalmasnak kell lennie, de azért ez nem sikerült. Vontatott a sztori, egy kötetben sem érnek fel egy olyan csúcsra, amit más könyvekben néhány oldal alatt elintéztek. Lehetett volna egy kötettel rövidebb az összecsapás…

The battle is way too one sided. It makes it soooo boring.

I read it in English, I didn't like it and I doubt it was any better in the original. It wasn't that the idea behind the plot was bad but the execution is just sloppy, boring and un-engaging.

Som tidigare skrivet: de här böckerna om slutstriden intresserar mig inte lika mycket som Sandemos berättelser om enskilda människor, oftast unga kvinnor, som har känslor, problem och relationer som man kan känna igen sig i. Det är DET som är hennes styrka. För att skriva om världsstrider mellan ont och gott krävs en begåvning för det episka, storslagna och poetiska som hon helt enkelt inte har, och dessutom är det väl tveksamt om det går att få in i ett lättläst pocketformat överhuvudtaget... Jag tycker att hon biter över för mycket helt enkelt. Dock finns det glimtar där Sandemo är smart och rolig även här, som i detta med "The Lords of Time", och vad som var orsaken till att de blivit levande igen, och hur de bekämpades.
