Excellent review of critical topics related to the study of Scripture. Several chapters provide a superb summary of Karl Barth's views on Scripture, especially important many mistakenly accept the idea that Barth is very close to Luther and carries that on.
"When one has abandoned the high doctrine of the infallibility of Scripture and no longer believes Scripture to be reliable in its claims and assertions, then the quest for the genuine, literal sense of Scripture, is no longer so important. For if there are errors in Scripture, then the interpreter will wish somehow to avoid the implications of the literal sense of Scripture and find a 'new' meaning which will be more congenial to his world view or more 'relevant' to his day" [pg. 166]
