It’s my turn to fight the shady Organization that’s dug its fucking claws into every business in my town. Setting up my trap while keeping my friends safe is a challenge – and my private life shouldn’t interfere. Except it does. Because the only way to reach the center of the web is to crawl right into the spider’s lair – and that turns out to be the Cronin Scarlet Hotel. Luxury hotel with a kink, and my regular haunt. The perfect way in. Nobody will bat an eye if I ask for my usual relief from stress in one of their stylish pain rooms with some random girl who likes to dom. It will only take a phone call. But there’s one complication: Mia. A very sexy complication. She works at the hotel as a cleaning maid, and she’s prim and proper and damn pretty. So buttoned up, her gaze so icy when she looks at me, she pushes all my buttons. I want to tie her up, I want her to tie me up, I want to try every filthy kink possible with her. But she doesn’t want anything to do with me. Or at least, she didn’t, until the last time I happened to be there. One searing hot kiss and I was lost. Why do I want a girl who’s nothing like the dominant women I usually go for? And how the hell am I going to keep my mind on taking down the corrupted Organization when she’s around?

Wow what another fantastic book from this author Rook is everything I want in a book husband he's sweet ,funny ,serious, Alpha male with a heartfilled side I think it's love for me and him :) MIA is feisty I really love that about her she's strong and she accepts Rook for all he is . Brilliant book loved every single second. Would Roderick Rook Carter Be My Book Boyfriend? Hell yes he is my book husband Mine #claimed
A year and a half since the previous book and the book literally starts with the reader expecting to know or remember what the organisation is, what Rook's relationship is with Storm and Hawk from the previous books and what the heck has gone down before, sorry but I have read a lot of books since and an intro would of been helpful or something that said previously in the series ...... I was excited to read Rook after Jo's previous M&M and menage books not being my genre but I feel let down and I don't think for me Jo's earlier books The Inked brotherhood and Damage Control can be topped if this is your reading preference now that her writing has changed.
This is the last book of the series and I felt after reading it the author just wanted to draw a line under it and move on.
Rook is addicted to pain but also undercover in a sex hotel, Bdsm is his release and by Rook attending the hotel has it working to his advantage while he tries to gain information on the owner and take him down for his crimes. Mia is also undercover as FBI as a maid and the two collide in an insta lust scene.
Rook's past isn't really addressed, neither does it go into depth so you can form a connection with Rook, yes he loves pain and needs release but to me that's self harm and not a sexual preference, this isn't addressed either.
After digesting this book over night I haven't many good things to say really, so I will have to let other readers to decide for themselves.

Rook by the outstanding author Jo Raven is the next installment and the conclusion in the Sex and Bulllets Series. Every book can easily be read as a standalone. For better understanding I recommend to read thge books in order. The previous books are: Storm; Caught; Hawk and now Rook. Roderick - Rook - Carter fights a shady organization to keep his friends safe. This is a different task. He sets up a trap, but there is one wrench thrown his way. Suddenly his private life interferes. He meets Mia, Mia who knows him . She is a witty, funny and sarcastic woman who has her own agenda and secrets. I started reading and the story sucked me in. Nothing is as it seems, there are so many unexpecterd twists and turns. This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Jo Raven has accomplished just that. I love the story, the characters and the words. I recommend the book and the series and give 5 stars. Thank you, Jo Raven !
Having fallen in love with these hottie billionaires who dodge bullets and spend their free time trying to take down the shady and corrupt Organization, I couldn't wait to jump back in this suspenseful fictional world and get up close and personal with the dark and mysterious Rook. It wasn't long into Rook's story that Jo Raven had readers hearts torn open with both pain and pleasure and at times the two are so interwoven that we don't know where one ends and the other begins. Mia and Rook keep us panting with desire and wide eyed from the danger that seem to constantly surround these two!
Roderick “Rook” Carter thinks he has all the answers, or he will once he spends more time getting his kink on at the Cronin Scarlet Hotel. But things quickly escalate and become more complicated when he meets the young and seemingly innocent Mia who looks sinfully hot in her scantily clad employee uniform. Rook grabbed a hold of my heart and squeezed with all of his might with his many scars both on his soul and his body. As always Jo Raven had me struggling through a mess of emotions and wanting to comfort and love this tattooed hero who has undoubtedly left a mark on readers everywhere!
Mia Taylor kept me guessing and wishing I could see deeper into this heroine's heart and mind so I could find out what deception she was hiding behind that maid's costume. Mia quickly charmed me with her inner strength and her curiosity that always seems to lead her right into endless danger and Rook's arms.
Jo Raven delivers a soul pounding, libido thrumming read that entices us into the darkest recesses of our imaginations and desires. I highly recommend Rook and the other books in the Sex and Bullets series for equal amounts of heat and mystery. Jo Raven always grabs my attention and keeps me riveted and turning pages as fast as I can and wondering which couple or story she will shower us with next!
I love this series, it's my all time favorite series of Jo Raven's so I was super excited when Rook's book came out. Rook really kept to himself and was definitely an enigma in the first few books, a sexy enigma I may add. This book pretty much starts where the other books ended in terms of the organization. Now it's Rooks turn to try to take down the organization as his parents were major players in it. We learn a little more about Rook's childhood and why he lets others inflict physical pain on him. To be honest I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this particular aspect of the book since I'm not really into bdsm especially when the male character would be considered the sub. I was actually pleasantly surprised that these scenes didn't bother me at all. Without giving anything away this story definitely had some unexpected plot twists and I really loved Rook with Mia. Great ending to this series!
Rookie <3 I enjoyed reading this gritty billionaire romance book. The BDSM part was exactly the right amount and the characters were well developed. I couldn't wait to read the final conclusion of the Sex and Bullets series. I needed to know what would happen with The Organization and Jo Raven didn't disappoint. It was a great conclusion to all of the plotlines and I really liked Mia and Rook. I especially loved Rook's penchant for... Yeah... Read that on your own. And my heart broke with the things he had to endure when he was younger. The Queen of torturing boys has once again delivered exceptionally.
I have been eagerly waiting to read this book since it was announced by the author and it definitely did not disappoint The book was filled with emotion, love and sexy times! To say i absolutely loved it would be an understatement. It was well written, well thought out and excellently executed like all her other books. This book is filled with emotion and a lot of angst and if you pick it up you won't be able to put it down. You will definitely feel like you have been put through the ringer but it is so worth it. I will definitely be recommending to everyone and re-reading it again myself
Well... in my humble opinion this book was well worth the wait...if you haven't read them, you will need the first two in this series to get up to speed. Rook, up until now has been the one of the trio of friends in the background, we knew he had secrets and by the end of this book we need to sit back and breathe after this rollercoaster of suspense and heartache, your emotions are all over the place smiling in parts but almost crying in others...Jo Raven has done a fantastic job of bringing this trilogy to a conclusion that no one can be disappointed with.
Well, in true Lisa fashion, it seems I have once again started a series near the end. Oh well, at least I can tell you guys if you are able to read as a stand alone. Though there were times I'm sure a little backstory would help, I was totally able to read this on it's own. It seems each book in the Sex and Bullets series is about a different couple.
So, Rook. Cool name, really. Well, nickname. He's pretty kinky and has a lot of darkness to work through. He's also kind of gone vigilante, trying to take down a corrupt organization.
Then you have Mia. She's not really into the scene. And not looking to date. Focused on her work, and a sweet girl. I love the fireworks between these two.
Ok so this book is sexy but suspenseful, action-packed and secret-revealing. It was an enjoyable read and I am definitely interested enough to go back and read the other two!
Wow! Jo Raven is easily one of my all-time favorite authors, ever! She is certainly in my top 3. I have been with her since she released Asher and never looked back. I will put down whatever I am reading when she releases a book. Jesus, she is a fantastic writer! (Fan-girling much? Lol)
The first book in the Sex and Bullets series, Storm is loosely connected to the Inked Brotherhood series, a spinoff from Rafe. You don't have to read that series to enjoy Rook While this book can be read as a standalone, I personally believe you will get more enjoyment from it if you read the prior books. There is a continuing suspense element that resolves with Rook. Also, there may be a few times where you will have questions if you haven't read the others.
Rook and Mia....... Having met Rook in the first book, we know he is family to Storm and Hawk; they are like brothers. Rook is protective and loyal as are the other two. Rook will do anything to keep his 'brothers' safe. Even if that means death. I don't want to give any details away, especially if you haven't read the other books yet, so I will do my best to keep from spoiling this book for you.
Storm and Hawk have both technically had their happy endings with their girls, in the conclusion of their books. However the element of danger is still lurking and Rook feels strongly it is his responsibility to put an end to it. And that is exactly what he sets out to do. Alone. However, he doesn't get away with keeping secrets from Storm and Hawk.
It is during Rook's investigation that he meets Mia. She is beautiful and sexy and quickly gets under his skin. Rook tried to keep his distance from Mia but he is drawn to her. But when she finds out his secrets, his kinks, will she run? Rook believes he is destined to be alone for the rest of his life. He doesn't think he will find what Storm and Hawk found with their girls. Rook believes he doesn't deserve a happily ever after. Ok, this is where I disagree. Sorry Rook, but you deserve EVERYTHING! Yes, he has a tortured soul, and guarded heart. Rook broke my own heart. I literally cried for this man. It is so hard to properly describe my feelings about hi but I'll try. He was smart, rich, sexy, loyal, protective, strong, dark and determined. Did I mention sexy? Hot damn! But he was sad and lonely and broken on the inside. When Mia came into his life, he was able to start to heal. Of course he believed he didn't deserve her.
Mia was an amazing heroine. She was just as protective when it came to those she cares for. She was also brave and just as determined as Rook to end the evil in this story. Rook quickly found a way into her own closed heart. While she thought he was too dark for her, she quickly realized she needed him and she believed he needed her. Mia would unearth Rook's secrets and show him she was not going to run.
This book is dark. There is suspense and violence. Secrets that unfold as you read. As the plot and conflicts grow, I was growing with anxiety and even excitement I loved the resolution! I was very satisfied with how the villain received his comeuppance. But even after that, there was still an engaging finish. This book was thoroughly captivating and the writing flowed perfectly. Soon I found myself on the last page and hated for it to end. But as I know Jo Raven, we can probably expect a long epilogue from this series to release in the future. I for one want to know that these men are still happy and living the life they deserve.
Not only do I recommend this book, I recommend you check out the whole Sex and Bullets series. And after the, you should check out Jo's other amazing books!
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it.
This is the 3rd book in the Sex and Bullets series—Rook. The previous books are: Storm; Hawk, the prequel Caught and now Rook. Rook is like family to Storm and Hawk. They are his “brothers” and he will do anything to keep them safe even if it means him dying. I would recommend reading the previous books in this series to better understand this book but this could be read as a standalone. There is danger still out there and now Rook is going to put an end to it or die trying. He doesn’t have Storm or Hawk go with him, and he goes it alone so they don’t get hurt but trust me when I say those men always find things out that Rook withholds from them and they aren’t happy. Now during Rook’s investigations, he runs into and meets Mia. She is beautiful and so inviting. She is the type that draws a person in and hooks you immediately and that’s what she does with Rook. Rook tries to back away but…doesn’t work. Mia herself finds Rook so dominant and aloof yet with hint of secrets and spice. These two immediately click and connect. They try not to but its so hard when you see the chemistry running back and forth between them. Rook is afraid to believe he will ever find his HEA even though his friends/brothers did get theirs. He pulls away and tries to stay away from Mia but that doesn’t get far. Rook is a man who is somewhat well more so broken deep inside and I cried for him. I wanted him to find love with Mia, for I knew she could give him love and give him what he has been lacking for so long. He just has to believe …Mia knows there is this broken side to Rook and she keeps trying to prove to him she is there for him, no matter what. In between the trouble Rook is going after to make sure all the trouble is out of their lives for good, Rook has this relationship now on his radar. Rook is a such an broody, possessive, smart, sexy alpha male and his counterpart Mia, well she is sweet, honest, sassy, just as protective as Rook of those she loves. These two are perfect for each other. Did I mention she too has some trust issues and it takes someone special to get into her heart? Ahhh like I said, they are perfect for one another. Now this isnt a rainbow and unicorn , light and hearts story. Its dark, full of pain , violence , mystery and suspense. Not to say there isnt romance and passion but we also have a lot of pain and violence. As the angst and danger grew, I was on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t read fast enough. I was trying to get to the epic conclusion that the books in this series has led up to. Everything concluded just like it should have and I was very happy to see the villain(s) get what they deserved. I loved how this book ended and I hope there will be a follow up book with all the characters in this series released sometime soon.
My Rating: 4.7 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
An ARC of Rook by Jo Raven was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly thought Storm was my favorite book out of the Sex and Bullets Series, but that isn't the case. It's Rook! I thought Storm and Raylin were my favorite couple, but Rook and Mia hold the title. I loved the chemistry between Rook and Mia from the start. Rook and Mia share an attraction that is deep and intense. I loved how much they had in common, how much they connected every time they interacted, and how they had one another's back when things started to get dangerous and real. Rook and Mia are a great match in my opinion and Jo Raven showcases that every step of the way.
Rook by Jo Raven is a must read. I loved it. I didn't want to finish it. To be honest, I was a little angry when I reached the end of the book. I couldn't let it go, I didn't want to leave this awesome story with well-written characters behind. I couldn't leave my babies Rook and Mia. Both of them have found their way into my heart. I love them both equally.
Readers, if you're looking for a book that has a sexy tortured male character who likes pain mixed with his pleasure, a strong beautiful female character with a kickass occupation and loyal friendships and brotherhood, corruption, and bloodshed, then Rook by Jo Raven is your book. I implore you to read it and give it a try, you won't regret it. I didn't. I've been waiting for Rook's story for the longest time and Jo Raven made the wait worth it. She saved the best for last. And make no mistake, you're going to fall in love with the writing, the story concept, and the characters of Rook and Mia. I even liked all the moments with Storm and Hawk again, knowing more of what happens to them after reading their stories.
Rook was always mysterious to me after reading him in Storm and Hawk. I feel like I finally know every part of him, the good and the bad after reading his story. Jo Raven made me feel so much with this insanely hot guy, who not only has a dark side, but an even darker past. He just wanted to be everyone's protector, not realizing that the people who loved him most wanted to be there for him as well. He just wanted to be loved so badly. He needed to be accepted for the real him, and Mia was the exception. Mia gave Rook everything that he thought he would never have in life. She was the light to his darkness.
Aside from the story and the characters, I loved how this book kept me in suspense. I was sitting at the edge of my seat every time I flipped the page. There was so many secrets, so much action and mystery going around which made Rook even more intriguing. I liked how Jo Raven gradually unveiled Mia's true identity and purpose. So good. Mia became Rook's number one person to help in his mission to dismantle the Organization.
Warning... i personally would re-read (wished i had) or read for first time, Storm, Hawk and then Rook in one go because i gotta be honest it took me a while to remember what happened! That may be just because i'm old though :/ lol
Rook has always been the dark and mysterious one of the trio. Coming to terms with his parents hand in the organization has not been easy. His relationship with them has never been good but now he feels responsible for bringing them all down. After what happened to Storm and Hawk he's determined to get them all from the top down.
He decides he's going to go it alone. Storm and Hawk have their families now and he won't risk anything happening to them all.
With this in mind he want's to dig around a kink hotel owned by the head of the organization Ian Cronin. Rook has been to the hotel before for pleasure to fulfill his needs so he won't look out of place being there.
On his first trip he encounters a sexy maid Mia. She seems so innocent, too innocent to be in that hotel and he's instantly attracted to her. He can't help taking a kiss. She reciprocates but them remembers why she's there.
They both have their own reasons for being there and are trying to keep that in mind but their attraction has other ideas and they can't stop thinking about each other.
Mia has personal reasons for being at the hotel. She's out for revenge and it's a bonus that her job is helping her get it. Meeting Rook shouldn't have happened. She knows she needs to stay single minded but the broken, dark and sexy man refuses to leave her alone. Not that she wants him to.
Awww poor Rook. You knew from the start he was probably the most broken of them all and he certainly is. His past broke my heart and revelations along the way shattered it. His need for control ends up making him bear the weight of the world on his shoulders. His need to fix the wrongs of others drives him on and you have to love him for it.
Mia was pretty level headed and i'm glad she was because she brings Rook back from the edge. She is quite innocent but she's also opened minded about what other people want and i liked that about her.
The bump and grind scenes were .... ummmm ... fan's face* rather enjoyable! I loved the passion between them, the need to have each other so fiercely the clothes stood no chance! lol
The story takes you on a ride of up's and down's and also reveals a pretty big secret that i wasn't expecting. It kept me on my toes and eager for more.
It was fab seeing Storm and Hawk again and i loved that finally they get to be there for Rook.
Amazing end to the series and i hope Jo writes more series along this line as she's amazing with the suspense and twists and turns.
Oh boy... Here we go again. Let's dig into another book written by this amazing author but I'm starting it in day light, lol, because I've started the last one so late and ended it in the early hours of the next day. Couldn't help it. Jo Raven's writting is simple yet very detailed, full of suspense, feelings and so much more. The way she creates her stories will make you blush and smile, as well as curse and scream, been there and done that. Rook is her latest release and tells the stories of Rook and Mia. But I should tell you something. In order for you to understand this book you need to read the first three books from this series, the Sex and Bullets series. Trust me, you need to know everything from the beginning. Rook is one of the gang, the typical alfamale, stubborn as hell.. Determined to end the Organization in order to protect his friends, he does the unthinkable and get himself in the middle of it. But he wasn't expecting to run into a beautiful woman and that awaken the beast in him. Mia is a maid at a very known hotel. She's feisty, sarcastic, funny and with lots of baggage and secrets. But not everything is what it seems. One look at Rook and she's curious to say the least... Sweet baby Jesus what a book. I thought that I was about to enter into a story and jeez it looked like I was getting into the twilight zone. The plot is superb, very well written, full of suspense, hot stuff and so much more. The interaction between the characters is intense, raw, forbidden, kinky and hot as hell. The story progressed in a way that left me scared, anxious, hot, mad, confuse...it was so many emotions that I was barely able to get away. Things were happening in a way that I thought I was going to get one thing and then got other totally different. I can't say more because I don't spoil but I can shout out to everyone that you need to read this series. I thought that I liked one book better, then I thought it was the other but after reading them all I can't decide. But I can say that this series is by far one of my favorite of all times. Grab it and find out for yourself. Jo Raven you are amazing. Your words stuck in my mind and no matter what I do I can't erase them, now do I want to. Thank you for this series and I can't wait for more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
The third and final book in the Sex and Bullets series, this can be read as a standalone, but I would advise you to read the other two books, Storm and Hawk, first - to be honest its been quite some time since book two and book three, and I had forgotten the plot line to this series.
To be honest I'm a bit on the fence with this one, which is not like me. I love all Jo's books as a rule and have read every one of them, but with this one I was a little lost. I couldn't remember the plot line and the start of the book doesn't give us any pointers to what's happened in the past with Rook, Storm and Hawk and just where we are up to with The Organization, so it took me a long time to get into the book.
Rook is the eldest of the 3 'brothers', he watched what the other have gone through with The Organization and has seen them settle down with their girls. But he's not like them, he is very broken, hated his parents and his upbringing, even more so when he learned of their involvement in The Organization. Now its his turn to try and bring about its downfall. He uses his lifestyle in the 'Scene' to go about that, needing pain in his life to bring about peace and a release from his own darkness, he frequents the Cronin Hotel which specializes in what he needs and just so happens to be owned by the leader of The Organization, Ian Cronin. He goes around the hotel looking for any information he can find. This is when he bumps into Mia, working as a cleaning maid in the hotel, but she is actually an undercover FBI agent looking to bring down The Organization. They have an immediate attraction which is unusual for the both of them, not being what they usually look for. But they have a job to do, but are constantly distracted by each other.
Its a dark and twisted read, with lots about flogging, spanking, hitting, pain and some hot sexy scenes between Rook and Mia, and a lot of unanswered questions and feeling like the story just didn't gel well, leaving me a little frustrated.
Although I didn't really enjoy this one, I can't wait to read the rest of the books Jo has lined up.
Mia and Rook know that sometimes there is fine line between pain and pleasure. Mia’s job at Cronin Hotel is every eye opening. A place of pleasure and pain she sees and hears so much coming from its gilded rooms. While she needs all she hears she cannot be affected by the kink she exposed to within these chain covered walls. When in the course of her duties she is swept up in a passionate embrace by Rook Carter, she is surprised by how deeply it affects her. He says he enjoys the crack of the whip and the sting of the flogger, something she knows nothing about and she has a job to do and cannot be distracted by tall, dark, and sexy. Rook has a mission - bring down the Organization at all costs. After Storm and Hawk’s run ins with the evil empire and putting his corrupt parents away - he has to take them down once and for all. With this ethos he is after the big kahuna Ian Cronin and will stop at nothing to take the man out. His plan is to infiltrate his HQ as a patron of his illustrious den of iniquity Cronin Hotel and find anything to get to his contacts to start the sky falling. With his well known love for pain and pleasure he won't seem out of place but he will still need to watch his back. When he meets Mia and cannot get her out of his mind pain or no he knows that he needs to posses her. But with his past demons, dangerous life, and atypical appetites can he really drag down Mia. Taking out the Organization is personal and necessary, but Rook will soon discover something even more necessary...Love!

This book was THE PERFECT end to this series. Really, it was the perfect everything. I absolutely adore romance books that have action in them, for me it's the absolute best! These men are our white knights, in the most rugged, handsome, bad boy types of way. Rook was someone who I wasn't really sure I understood, but we find out so much about him in this book. He has such a dark, layered and complicated past. Nothing about the lives of these men was easy, but Rook seemed to have everything especially hard. He also seemed to care so much, and he was dead set on making things right.
Mia, she's the best, I loved her so much from the time we meet her. I love how awkward she was at the hotel she worked at, it made everything so much more entertaining. I also love how she's introduced to Rook. Rook seemed to have completely changed her mindset throughout this book, made her re-think things. The chemistry these two had was fire! I loved the anticipation of seeing what was going to happen. Jo made us wait, she made us beg for their coupling. That is the best feeling, I just love when we have to work for it. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and we even have a few surprises. Well, many surprises, twists and turns. It was all so good!
The end of this book, oh it's so special. Jo, you really know how to write an epilogue! I think it's important to get closure, and this is a great way to get it. Can't wait to see what's up Jo's sleeve next!
ARC provided for an honest review. Rook is the final in the Sex and Bullets series; where we finally get to the end of the Organization. Rook is a complicated character, he is really messed up from his bad parents and the crap they put him through. Being the oldest of the three, he feels it’s his responsibility to keep them safe, even at the cost of himself. He puts himself in a bad situation to try and end the danger they are in, and take down the bad guys. But he didn’t quite think it through enough, he flounders a bit, and he meets a distraction he can’t keep away from, Mia. Mia, she is very sweet, she really lacks the ruthless edge she needs to do the job she is tasked to do. She is also slightly unnerved seeing the things she does every day at the BDSM hotel where she is working. When she meets Rook, she is instantly drawn to him, he becomes a huge distraction for her. And she is not completely sure about him, because of his needs. I liked the two of them together, I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out, whether Mia could fulfill his needs, whether Rook could adapt his lifestyle for a committed relationship. But Rook proved to be a good man with the way he handled things, especially with his lifestyle. And Mia proved to be stronger than she seemed. The end of the Organization was satisfying. The end of the series good, a more detailed HEA for Storm and Hawk, but a look at a promising one for Rook.
Title: Rook (Sex and Bullets, #3) Author: Jo Raven Genre: Romantic Suspense, Bdsm Rating: 5/5
WOW Ms Raven has done it again, she’s given us another amazing read with Rook which just so happens to be the final instalment in the Sex and Bullets series and she certainly saved the best till last.
The main protagonists Rook and Mia find themselves drawn towards each other in not your ‘normal’ everyday surroundings in which they’re both, unbeknown to each other working towards the same results but for Rook there’s a more personal reason.
This had me hooked from the very beginning, it was filled with angst, suspense and some seriously heartbreaking moments alongside some twists and turns I never saw coming. A brilliant storyline with likeable characters that are easy to connect with.
I am sad it’s the last of this brilliant series but as they say ‘all good things must come to an end’ and I can’t wait to see what’s in-store next from this seriously talented author with the abilities to make you not only read her books but feel like you’re living them.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book through Be My Book Boyfriend.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book I didn’t realise that the previous two books were kind of connected to this story and should have read them in order. Not that it matters as it is still a brilliant story. I now have the other two to read. Roderick “Rook” Carter is a man on a mission. Trying to take down a shady Organisation. I just felt so sad for Rook. He is like a tortured soul, looking for something in his life but not knowing what.....peace of mind maybe, comfort, something better than all the money in the world. Then he meets her...Mia. He can’t understand this attraction he has for her. Like a need, a want, his little something more. This story makes you want to put your arms around Rook and protect him and at the same time...kiss him to bits. He is so hot. A story that will draw you in, feel emotions, dramas. Make you shout it will make you so angry and laugh at the banter between Rook and his friends Hawk and Storm but the most impact on his life now and his saviour is Mia. She is so much more than you think working as a maid in this Hotel. So many secrets, lies and one you won’t forget in a hurry. Loved it.
“Pain turns me on | Danger lights me up | But she sets me on fire”
This is the last of the trilogy. As much as I'd love to keep reading about these characters Jo does not disappoint with the way she ties up their stories. My heart is still racing and just processing all that was exposed in this book. It can be read as a standalone, but you will get so much more out of the twist and turns, pain, healing, hope and rollercoaster ride if you start the series from the beginning. If you don't read the first two books you can't truly grasp what drives the characters, their struggles, growth, reasons they crave certain lifestyles and the victories of their personal lives. There are many twist and turns, deceit and hope throughout this book.
“I’m alone. A lone wolf, without friends, without a girl who loves me, without... Without what my friends have. Without what everyone in the world has….. This is my last night before the great plunge, before I set my plan into motion and see where it takes me, if it will succeed or get me killed. Tomorrow.”
Jo Raven does it again with this one! I have loved the books in this series, but have to say Rook is my new favorite. Rook has set his sights on taking down the Organization once and for all and keeping his family, Storm, Hawk and their families, safe. To do that he will go further down the rabbit hole than he already has. Rook has a past that has lead to some pretty dark kinks, but he's ok with them and yet thinks he will be alone for the rest of his life. Until a kiss changes everything that is. Mia is working at the Cronin's Scarlet Hotel that is known for catering to the rich's dark desires and enter Rook. That one kiss will change both of their paths in ways neither expected. For Mia's part she is at the hotel for her own reasons and will do whatever it takes to take down the man who owns the hotel. I loved everything that Rook and Mia go through and the twists and turns their path takes in order to get what both of them deserve. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Wow!! What an emotional rollercoaster read! Rook was actuallt my first book to read in this series but I absolutely loved it and will be reading the first two books asap. Rook is everything you would want in a book boyfriend. He's a dirty-talking, sexy as sin, funny, serious and tortured alpha male with a huge heart. He is loyal and protective of those lucky enough to be considered family even if it may put him in harm's way. When his path crosses with Mia sparks fly and there's an immediate connection. Mia is strong, feisty, witty and intrigues Rook like no other woman has before. I was drawn into their story and the twists and turns it takes. Rook is one of my favorite types of reads because it has the perfect mix of tension, angst, suspense, and heartbreak that has you feeling all the feels until the very end. Rook broke my heart with his tortured soul and reminded me once again why I first started reading books by this author. I loved the epilogue and hope there's a followup to this series in the future.
Mia Taylor is a new maid at the Cronin Hotel, a prestigious kinky hotel. Mia isn't into the S&M scene but she's on a mission and the sexy and gorgeous Rook is proving to be a big distraction. Roderick "Rook" Carter is a regular at the Cronin Hotel where he uses pain as an escape. Rook is on a mission to take down the corrupt Organization but can't stop thinking about the beautiful Mia. Mia and Rook can't fight their attraction for each other but a distraction can prove deadly and there's more to Mia and Rook than they're letting on ... are they on the same side or opposing sides? Will it be too late by the time they find out? With danger swirling all around them and buried secrets waiting to be unearthed, will Mia and Rook survive or will they join the many bodies the Organization has walked over to get to the top?
Jo Raven delivers an action-packed, suspenseful and steamy story full of twists and turns for a page turner that's not to be missed!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Rook is on a mission in this book and enjoys the kinky side of trying to solve the investigation he's doing. Meeting Mia, the 'hotel' maid, puts a slight problem in his path. Their path ends up crossing in more ways than one. Now Mia, while attracted to Rook, tries to stay away from Rook. She has her own agenda and Rook complicates it. But when cornered, sparks fly and they can't seem to help themselves. Their relationship becomes complicated when they realize they might just want the same thing...in and out of the bedroom. It makes or sense to read this series in order. You would better understand it. I'm all about damaged guys. And Rook fits that bill. Like always, Jo weaves a storyline that has everything you want in a book. Romance, passion, pain, angst, and vulnerability in spades...with both characters. She always keeps you on your toes and that's what I love about her. And she's did it again. **Reviewed a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review**
Lord Rook is one emotionally challenged man. He uses pain to feel alive and to free him from the demons that haunt him in the dark, but are those demons what he thinks they are?? Trying to bring the Organization down all on his own he has no clue there are other people in play working toward the same goal, his thirst for vengeance may be his downfall.
Mia has a job, not one she's particularly fond of but if it gets here what she needs then it's all worth it. Rook is a complication, one she doesn't need and definitely doesn't want to want. What's a girl to do when he pulls his dominant male act that makes you absolutely brainless? Go with the flow and enjoy the ride! But this ride comes with more than she bargained for...
I love this author, I adore this series and I'm completely hooked on Rook & Mia. This is a must read and a series that I'll no doubt read over and over. 4.5 stars.
It has taken me no time at all to devour each an every word in this book. I just could not put it down once I started.
Jo Raven is a professional torturer of pretty boys both emotional and now sexily too.
Rook and Mia had me so gripped the rest of the world disappeared. My kids had to fend for themselves or starve as I refused to stop until the last word.
I find this authors books always bring a lump to my throat but this had me so emotionally wound up I didn't know how to process.
Rook is a man few can compete with as far as I am concerned and his journey to the light as he calls his Mia is one I dare you to read and not get choked up over.
Don't even get me started on the sexy times because a walk in freezer could not have cooled this couple off.
