This is a how to book for teaching a music theory class. I loved it! It's a class that I took as a child, and now want to teach. I think it is a fun and exceptional way to learn music theory. It is written by a Suzuki piano teacher, so as a Suzuki string teacher many of the basic concepts are familiar to me. This book is mostly a catalog of her games. The frustrating thing is that after you've bought and read this book there are still a lot of materials to be bought and a lot of planning to do for how to implement. But it is definitely a wonderful way to teach music theory. It goes through every step, and breaks each concept down, so you can realize what the child is not understanding, intsead of testing and thinking that the child just "can't get it."
Excellent resource, wonderful ideas for teaching children a few musical concepts, however, almost every idea requires her own materials. I made my own, but it was a pain.
