There's a very narrow window for enjoying this sort of old-school, Thud & Blunder, Sword & Sandal parodies: you need to have some enjoyment of the original genre in spite of - or because of - its often superficial plotting, all the hunks and curves and overly exaggerated sexual characteristics - while still recognizing that such features are rather ridiculous and overblown. I suspect the modern day's political sensibilities have only made this window all the narrower.
Me, I liked it fine: I've always enjoyed your Conans and John Carters and such, while still acknowledging that a lot of their themes and idiosyncrasies deserve a good laugh. This comic gives me what I want on that front. The rest of you may want to adjust the rating accordingly, either up or down, depending on how well you agree.
Above isn't this edition's (Catalan Communications) cover. _________________________________
"My aching sphincter! Our flaming Queen is a flaming queen!"
"Her juddering breasts were like ruby-crowned temple domes shaken during and earthquake...has a birthmark shaped like a wizard's phallus under her left breast."
"I feel so strange. my loins are a-boil. I would have them lanced!"
"Cries of desire ring through the humid night. The moon, itself passion-swollen, modestly draws a curtain of cloud across its embarrassed face."
"Great! Great! My mystical bowl tells me old elephant dong is very near."
"Wait- maybe I still have the enchanted sheath that Tro-Janins the sword grinder gave me."
"Undead guardians- another necromantic cliche to deal with!"
"... Pilgor the savage thruster hurls himself forward..."
"Uh, I'm not that innocent, no, not at all! I've been with how many men was it..."
Has some of the best and worst tendencies of a Corben comic of the time, though more for the worse I'm afraid. Some of the script has aged like milk and the story is laughably incomprehensible at times. It mashes some common tropes from pulp sci fi and sword & sandals fantasy stories in a fairly amusing way, but it doesn't really come together all that well. Corben's artwork is probably enough of a draw here, though even then I can't say I enjoyed it much here.
Disfrutable.
