This was such a fun story....or stories :). Although the whole time I read this book all I could think of was my son...hehe. I can see him doing some of the things Stu and Bird Bones do in this book.

Stu wanted to become legendary so he tries new ways all the time to make himself that way.

With titles to the chapters like "Stu Goes Undercover", and "Stu's Head Falls Off", you can imagine the shenanigans these two boys get into. I think poor Bird Bones was talked into participating a lot. Doesn't that seem to always be the way? One a leader, one a follower.

Some of their "tricks" were quite funny. For example Stu disappears in the middle of class one day. His teacher freaks out calls the Principal to report a missing student. While the teacher was freaking out Stu slips right out of his hiding place and right back to his seat. The way it happens is just funny. It's what I picture any 13-14 yr old doing :).

Then there is the saying "it's all fun and games until someone looses an eye". I will leave the book for you to find out what I mean. Happy Reading!

I received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
So let me start off by saying that although I am a bit old for this book I did enjoy it and would recommend it to younger readers, parents reading to children and people learning English (I have recommended it to my students). It is composed of a series of short stories that follow the same characters. My favorites are: Stu becomes a Jedi Knight and Stu fights with swords. Although I enjoyed all of them.
The book is from the point of view of a young Patrick "Bird Bones" Hueller (who is also the author) and it tells us the awsome adventures that he and his best friend Stu Sanderson live.
Stu wants to be legendary and in my opinion he achieves it, he takes everything bad that may happen to him in a stride and gives a good comic part to the book. He also happens to be extremly tall.
Mrs Gribbs is a wonderful character as is Mr. Bell.
We also get a secondary female character who actually reminds me alot of myself when I was younger.
Patrick is a very good side kick and a really good narrator. Always willing to follow his best friend.
So that's my review! I hope you like it :)

I Want to be Stu!
When we were growing up, we all had that friend who was just a bit larger than life.
That kid who tried things.
Adults loved them. Kids loved them.
Bad things never seemed to affect them.
They lived a charmed life.
And we sidekicks desperately wished we could be the same.
Stu Stories, the Adventures of Dirt Clod and his sidekick Bird Bones is a fun, crazy, highly entertaining series of adventures featuring just such a kid.
Stu Sanderson, alias Dirt Clod.
Who, on his way to becoming an eighth-grade legend, challenges knights, does magic, kidnaps the teacher’s marker box, reads minds, disappears in the middle of class . . .
And never uses a door to enter his home.
Even when life goes horribly, terribly wrong, Stu never loses his charm. Or his sense of humour.
I want to be just like Stu.

Fun set of stories that makes you feel like you're sitting down with a friend around a campfire and hearing all about the pranks - with just the right amount of exaggeration - of a kid who could have been an underdog, but manages to come out on top. I'm glad this not-quite-underdog Stu has Patrick "Bird Bones" for a friend.

Stu Stories
The Adventures of Dirt Clod and his sidekick Bird Bones
By Patrick "Bird Bones" Hueller
Illustrations by Adam Record

This is a book that should appeal to middle-grade readers. Each chapter is a short story unto itself and builds on the one that came before. Stu Sanderson is that type of kid every teacher would cringe to have in their class and the other students would enjoy the antics.

Eighth grade will never be the same with Stu in the school. Which may or may not be a good thing. Stu is one of those students who draws attention - he is tall and really skinny. And he has a talent for disappearing from the classroom. And then there was an incident involving a flag pole in the middle of winter (need I say more).

Middle-grade readers will laugh at Stu and the methods he uses to get his goal accomplished. Stu isn't a troublemaker - he just seems to be drawn to trouble like a magnet to metal. Stu could be called a gentle giant - he cares about the underdog and champions the younger students when he feels it is necessary. But all of Stu's adventures with his best friend Patrick aka "Bird Bones" may come to a tragic end with one last adventure.

At just over 140 pages this book is just right for most book report requirements. The illustrations compliment the book well. There are 14 chapters so the length of each won't be a deterrent to reluctant readers. Boys (and girls) will root for Stu and Patrick as they take on teachers, playground bullies, and secret crushes.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a positive review ~ all opinions are my own.

This is a fun book written for middle grade boys. It doesn't seem as though there are all that many written for this group, so I always enjoy seeing new ones.

I liked the way this one is written. Stu is who the book is about, but the way it's written is through the eyes of his friend, Bird Bones. That makes the things that happen to Stu even more funny because you don't know how the things happened.

This book reminded me a little bit of "Sideways Stories from Wayside School," because it's a collection of several stories that kind of fit together to make a whole story, but they also stand on their own. I thought the stories were interesting and some of them made me laugh out loud. I thought it was really funny when Stu tricked the teacher into giving him all of her candy and she had no idea.

If you have a middle grade boy reader, I'm sure he'll love this book!

My kids have been cycling through the flu, bronchitis and other winter nastiness for almost two months. Which also means they've been holed up in their rooms with Netflix and Kindle books for entertainment. Thankfully, we discovered this super funny book! My munchkins shared it on their Kindle devices and it was so nice as a parent to hear some laughter mingled with their hacking coughs. =) Thanks for a book that brought some sunshine into my munchkins yucky sickie days.

This book follows Stu Sanderson and his best friend Bird Bones as they travel through 8th grade with their ups and downs that they travel together, anything from Stu missing in class to battling kidnppers in school and so on.

I loved this book it was cute and reminded me of so many books I read when I was a kid. I think adults and kids alike with love the story along with the antics that went along with 8th grade. Definitely a great trip down the ins and outs of school and things kids will do.
