THIS BOOK... What can I say that will explain everything I'm feeling? My mind is still going insane from everything I just experienced. I want to cry just thinking about the fact that I can't read this again for the first time. Please just bear with me while I try to get my jumbled thoughts straightened out.
This is the 3rd and final book that follows Calla's story. The first 3 books in this series followed Violet and it goes without saying that it's amazing to see cameos from those books. This is the 6th book in the series but it minus well be the first. Why? Because it made me fall in love with this world all over again. Just like every book before it has managed to accomplish. After all these books you'd think that my love for this world would fade but it just keeps on being rekindled. This book didn't lack in any department. Every book has its own unique stamp that demands to be devoured and cherished. I love how the story line keeps on getting more intense and brutal as we go. I was temporarily unavailable while reading this since nothing else was as fascinating as staying in this world.
This book- no, this series- is one of the biggest loves of my life. I don't know what or where would I be without this magnificent world to revisit with every Creepy Hollow book that Rachel writes. I am dreading the end of this series already. I know it won't be for a few books yet but my dread is real. Rachel has created THE world I wish I could get lost in forever. If anybody asks me, my #1 answer will always be Creepy Hollow. (Okay, most of my reasoning is that Chase [my baby] lives in this world so it's only fair that I should too.) I could go on and on about everything Rachel has managed to rip out of me with her epic storytelling but I will try and keep it down to a minimum.
The world is magnificent and beautiful while the characters are deliciously complex. Even the side characters play a memorable part to the story which makes me love them as much as if they were main characters. (I can't love anybody in this world as much as I love Chase though, so there's that.) Rachel effortlessly managed to made me step into the character's shoes and feel their raw emotions. I felt exhausted after reading the last page because of that little detail. My heart went on an emotional roller coaster that it was far from ready to experience but I'm not complaining. I think it's always a pleasure when an author rips ugly sobs out of their readers.
I'm wasn't even halfway into the book when I found myself sobbing my eyes out. Chase's lines were just... perfect. He's the one that was mainly making me cry throughout the book. I felt like the things he was saying to Calla were directed at me and it was the beautiful feeling. All the things he and Calla went through were hurting me in the best way. Those two are some of the BEST characters to witness while they're interacting with each other. Their emotions jumped of the pages and into my heart, giving me goosebumps. Every time Calla reacted to Chase's feeling the exact same thing even before I read Rachel's descriptions. Her pain, her sorrow, her doubts, her loyalty, her love, her tears were my own for as long as I was reading. Everything managed to grip my heart and make it its puppet. I felt every single emotion myself which made me love Calla even more than I already did.
I loved that the story was fast-paced from the very start and it didn't let up as the story went on. I missed these characters like crazy and now I'm back to missing them again thanks to having read it in one sitting. I wish there was a way I could open the book and live in there forever (with Chase.). This conclusion to Calla's story was heartbreaking and so brutal; it had me sobbing time and time again. Just the mention of a certain 'V' name had me losing it like nobody's business. As soon as I reached the last few chapters, I was sobbing nonstop.
I seriously can't believe the sacrifices Rachel made her characters go through. I was expecting brutality to a certain extent but Rachel blew my expectations out of the park. She went somewhere I never expected her to go and even though it made me hurt all over and drown in my tears, I'm awed by her commitment to telling a magnificent story. It had its overwhelming dark moments that I don't wish upon anybody but it made the story even more memorable. Of course, there was a lot of joy, even in the darkest of moments, which is the ONLY reason I survived this story. I hope my heart heals while I wait for the next precious book. I can't wait to see whose story we are following next!

Full Review:
I don’t know why I waited two months to read this, I’ve never waited to read new books in this series since I always look forward to them, but it worked out well that I did because this was exactly what I needed to get out of my reading slump! It was definitely my favorite out of Calla’s books. It was steadily-paced, action-packed, funny, bittersweet, and even emotional at times. It had the same easy-yet-descriptive writing style of all the other Creepy Hollow books, the same lovable and kickass characters, and an intense, battle-filled climax. I even debated giving this 4.5 stars because I blew through it in two days and really can’t point out any actual flaws.

But anyway, onto some specifics. I mentioned that the book was funny, and while it wasn’t laugh-out-loud-throughout-the-whole-book funny (that’s just not the type of series this is), it did have a few great moments. I especially loved the capslock burning hand bits (that is legitimately how your thoughts would be in that scenario, haha) and the age difference conversation.

It was also kind of heart-breaking though because of one thing that happened. My poor favorite character! I felt bad for the other characters too, but I felt especially terrible for him. *SPOILER ALERT* *END SPOILER ALERT*

But the tragedy, as terrible as it was, also brought some really touching family moments to this book. Obviously I always knew he was her big brother, but I guess I hadn’t realized in the other books just how close Calla was to Ryn and how much she valued their relationship.

There was also the romance, and that had its sweet moments too without being overpowering. Oftentimes when the love interest disappears for a large portion of a book it feels weird, but somehow he still felt present even when he was absent.

And of course the plot and character development were solid, as they usually are for this series. I didn’t like Calla in Book 4 when she was introduced as the new main character, but she matured, she grew, and she became a likeable character whom I was definitely rooting for. (Plus I liked how she trained at things instead of just being instantly good.)

I also like how Rachel Morgan seems to take some risks and go places other authors might not, but in a good way, like with the age difference thing I mentioned. I’ve always liked that Calla and Chase were 10-12 years apart in age since I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, especially considering how the faeries have longer life spans.

So overall this was a book that sucked me in and a fantastic ending to Calla’s story. Now I’m just anxiously awaiting whoever’s story is going to come next!

Without giving anything away, I was quite literally crying at the end of the book.

I loved this character, the plot, the pacing, the action - and the romance. It was all just SO good!

As someone who is going through a pretty rough time at the moment, I am utterly grateful for how easily this book was able to absorb me entirely. I was utterly lost in its pages.

10/10 recommend.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others - it was actually my least favorite in the series so far. Which doesn't mean it was horrible, I still enjoyed certain things about it!
I'm not even entirely sure why I didn't enjoy it as much. Maybe I read it at the wrong time (I was quite busy and exhausted from work most of the time reading this). But somehow this wasn't as good to me as the previous 5 books.
I liked Calla. I liked Chase. I liked them together. I liked the side characters (though I wish we could've seen more of them). Some of the plot twists were quite predictable.
This was still an emotional and sometimes exciting read for me and like every other Creepy Hollow book I was screaming at my kindle at some point.

I'm so excited to see who the main character for the next three books is gonna be!

Wow! What a conclusion to Calla's story. This is truly just classic young adult paranormal fantasy, and I am eating it up with a spoon. I was really not expecting how dark the story became, and a few parts nearly broke my heart. I'm really excited to see where the story goes from here, and what characters are going to make an appearance in the next set of three novels!

I'm not sure what happened with this book but I was so excited to read it and I did enjoy it but maybe I read it at the wrong time because I didn't love it as much as I loved the others in the series. I got sidetracked reading other things for a while so putting this one down repeatedly had me taking a long time to finish it. There were a few instances where it felt a little off like it wasn't Rachel's best work. But this world is awesome. The characters are so endearing. I will absolutely read this again someday and I consider it one of my favourite series.

About two months ago I read the first book in this series. And somewhen there was this moment where I sighed and was like "Okay, this is gonna be like every other YA". The first book already proved me wrong and so did every book thereafter. But, this book? This book changed the entire game. In a good bad way, if you understand what I mean.

During the last two books Calla has been facing a bigger and bigger mess. Not only is she on the run from the government, her family is also in danger and her boyfriend is locked up in a prison who knows where. Luckily Calla doesn't have to solve all of these problems all on her own, but I was quite surprised when I discovered that they weren't gonna solve all problems at all!

This book really took the plot to another and darker level. Some things get better, but a lot of things also get worse and reading the last installment of Calla's story has been a rollercoaster from start to finish. So much is happening, so many dark sides of this world are exposed, so many horrible things happen, although there are also moments making me smile. The plot had literally everything. Name something you want in a book and it's probably in here.

And all through it Calla stays our leading lady. I love her character. She's the perfect balance between a tough and strong girl and a girl with emotions, having a hard time dealing with things thrown at her. It makes her real, it makes it easy to identify with her and it makes it easy to feel for her. And all that makes that as a reader you really root for her. Just like these three books have managed to redeem a character who seemed so incredibly unredeemable. It's amazing how Morgan plays with good and bad and the grey scale in between.

There's however still a lot of work to do. There are political things happening that really need to be addressed and although the world is pretty and beautiful, there are also ugly things that should be dealt with. And therefore I can't wait to order the next omnibus with the next three books. I'm pretty sure they will be just as awesome!

I started reading this book some time ago. Then I had to stop in the middle so I could proofread a friend’s book. I finished that one, picked this one up again, and it was like I’d never put it down!

This is the sixth book in the Creepy Hollow series, but the last book in the three-book “Calla” arc. It’s difficult to write much for fear of spoilers, but I can tell you that this series keeps going from strength to strength. You should absolutely pick it up if you haven’t already.

There are three three-part character arcs in the Creepy Hollow series. If you wanted to, you could start at the beginning of any arc. But I think you’d be missing out if you did that. While you don’t NEED to know what happened in the previous arcs, there are callbacks to those old characters that will make you feel very special if you’ve read their stories.

2 1/2 stars for this arc of the series, 3 stars for this book.

Reasons why I didn't like the 2nd arc as much as the first.

I love Creepy Hollow

I remember when I picked up Calla's first book in her set, I didn't know what to expect and honestly I was a bit upset that the Violet/Ryn saga was over.
I really feel like Rachel has made characters that we as the reader actually want to follow and see grown and learn. I love the way Calla knows she isn't perfect and she has never stopped trying to work on herself. Really truly this was an excellent book.

I think that certain devastating parts were so necessary to help characters like Ryn, Vi, and Calla grow.
Towards the end, I was seriously attempting to not cry while sitting in my husbands office finishing the book up. Also.... Can we just talk about Scarlett being in this? Like I am obsessed with her character and I'm so glad she was in this book!!!

Of course there are going to be characters you don't like.... That's any book and that's what makes you love the characters that are closer to your heart so much more.

I can tell you that I will read the next installment from Rachel and I will probably reread these from the beginning just for fun anyway.

I definitely liked Vi&Ryn's story better than Calla's, even at the end of this book she's still pretty uninteresting to me. The idea to kill baby Victoria was pretty awful and more awful is only the realization that she's actually not dead (her hair not showing color, her birthmark fading away, Zinia's words that the baby didn't look like herself when they prepared the funeral). And I think it's unnecessary cruel to base the next three books on that, only for Vi&Ryn at some point to discover their daughter and realize they missed so many years together. Also, I'm not sure Vi wouldn't have been tempted to search for Victoria with her Griffin Ability just as a memory.
I liked Chase much more than Calla and I hope we'll see more from him in the next book. Also, Angelica was too easily defeated.

Calla Larkenwood's world is ripping apart at the seams in Rachel Morgan's A Faerie's Curse. This novel is the finale to Calla's story, and boy, it is one fast-paced ride! I didn't want to stop reading. The end of Part One had me crying. The end of Part Two left me shocked. I even gasped at what happened in that part. The ending was sweet and touching, but Morgan also left enough questions unanswered for the next part of the Creepy Hollow series, which I'm already excited to read. What I love best about Calla is that no matter what she goes through, she does find a way to remain true to herself. Action, danger, romance, and more—A Faerie's Curse by Rachel Morgan has it all!

One scene felt like Tora had died all over again – just worse.

The curse on Calla is exhausting just thinking of it. Brilliant plot device!

The witches are scary. I’m glad I’ve read Scarlett’s story before this – it makes her character a lot more interesting and some interactions a lot richer.

The scene at the Seelie Palace – priceless! Anjelica is truly off her rocker – wonder why no-one noticed it before?

Griffin Abilities and the Guild… there’s so much to say about that, but I think “fear makes people do awful and stupid things” sums it up.

The final battle is non-stop magic and action. I like the switch to Vi’s POV at the end, making Calla’s curse much more ominous.

Great ending to Calla’s story.

Oh, my goodness! I LOVED The Faerie's Curse! It was so fun! This book reminded me so much of The Harry Potter books. Especially the creative magical details. As to plot I especially loved Calla's character development and her relationship with Elizabeth. Having read Scarlett, it was so cool to see how Elizabeth's character has changed and grown. In addition I loved the telepathy and the relationship development between Calla and Chase. The entire story was magical and full of action that kept me reading as fast as I could. I LOVED every moment and once again was reminded why I love Rachel Morgan's story telling.

Short and Simple Review
Whew. A lot happened in this book and by the time I got to the end I really didn't feel like it could tie everything up. I don't think I'm fully satisfied with the ending because there are still some unanswered questions and the world still feels like a mess. This book was quite action-packed and it did not pull punches. I'm shocked at where this book went and how dark it got. I am still in denial about some things . I do feel like Calla's story has come to a conclusion (at least her story at the forefront. I'm sure we will see her again). I can clearly see how much she has changed from a girl desperate to join the Guild and afraid of her own abilities, to learning her strengths away from the Guild. I'm still meh about Calla and Chase. I'm fine with them together, but I just don't ship them, and their romantic moments just made me roll my eyes. Overall, I liked this book and Calla's story was a great continuation of the Creepy Hollow series. I hope to read the next books soon and meet new characters!

I just could not get into book 3 of Calla's story. Don't get me wrong I did like her, and the whole redemption thing for Chase. Buuuuuut, she's just so whiny! This literally could be renamed A Faerie's Self-Loathing Ruminations. I mean honestly, I get it. She gets put through the wringer and really no one she truly loves is on her side or is gone at the moment. But realistically, who wants to read a book where all the character does is throw pity parties and say "this is all my fault" over and over and over and over.
Yeah okay Calla, we got it the first 10 times you said it and book 1 2 and 3. please stop.

There were some good facets to the book as well. We finally get to know Calla's mother truly for who she is and what she's been through. My heart cried for Violet and Rin who are still the OTP of this series and did not deserve what happened to them.

I dnf'ed about 75% of the way through when I realized I was doing anything to avoid listening to calla and her self-deprecating thoughts.

i love Calla so much, and i’m bummed that i can’t read more of her side of the story.
throughout all three of her books i found myself laughing, gasping, and even crying at the twists Rachel Morgan included in here. like Violet’s story, there were some insane moments that had me freaking out and impatient for the resolution, but with Calla, i was feeling every emotion she was experiencing during all the chaotic turns.
one of my favorite things Morgan dived deeper into when it came to these books, was the relationship between Calla and Ryn. you were able to recognize it in Violet’s story pretty well, but experiencing it in one of their POV’s was something i didn’t expect to love as much as i did. as the oldest of four kids i understood them so well and how they felt for each other at different times, times that were both painful and joyful. Morgan did a great job showing how much they cared for each other through all the challenges. Calla is definitely my favorite character….with the exception of Perry, loved him.
5/5 stars, a new favorite. thanks Morgan ☺️

So, yeah, I was a blubbering, crying mess by the end of this book. All the pain, and fear, and guilt boiling inside Calla made me a bundle of nerves, hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Every time I though things were going to work out and wrap up, something would go sideways and Calla would find herself in even deeper trouble.
By the time the book and this portion of the series wraps up, I was so emotional I could barely see my kindle through my tears. I'm so glad the hubby and kids were still asleep because I was a snotty mess.
Basically, I had all the feels. I loved this portion of the series even better than the first three books about Violet, and that's saying a lot. :)
I already started Emerson's story in Glass Faerie, and I expect great things!
