From USA Today bestselling author Lola Kidd comes a dazzling new series for fans of Twilight, A Shade of Vampire, and the Vampire Diaries.
Attacked by demons, kidnapped by vampires. Hailey Martin awakens to a new world filled with supernatural threats. She has no idea where her family is and has no idea where to turn for help.
Her vampire captor, Gabriel Royal, assures her that he's a friend. He's only trying to protect her and keep her safe. If she were to leave his family's home, her life would be in danger again. He promises to help Hailey find her family as long as she stays with him. Desperate for answers, she has no choice but to trust him.
While they search for information about her family, Hailey is swept into the seductive world of Gabriel and his family. As she gets closer to the brooding vampire, she realizes she's in danger of losing something more precious than her freedom...her heart.
WAY TO GO LOLA!!!! I WOULD GIVE THIS BOOK 1000 STARS IF I COULD!!!
Lola Kidd is an excellent paranormal romance author. She knows how to get a series going. Boy she got me on this one. “The Vampire’s Claim” is one of her best books yet, as far as I am concerned. Oh man, what a rush I got reading this book. The story line and the characters, even the minor characters were fantastic. Here I am reading and my heart is racing and I thinking I have this all figured out and I am all excited, thinking things are coming to a climax, then BAM, there is a cliff hanger. Oh man, nothing like a heart stopper. One thing I do know is that this is one series I cannot wait to see how it unfolds. This book is a definite must read!!!
Hailey Martin’s mother Mona is a very powerful witch and has just died. Now her father is ranting like a lunatic about her mother being witch and Hailey and her sister Lila think he has gone mad. Then thinking the house is on fire Hailey tries to find her father and sister when she grabbed and pulled from the home. Thinking she has been kidnapped she bides her time till she realizes that she has been taken by an actual vampire. Now she not only has to worry about where her sister and father are, she has to figure out how to escape from the vampire’s clutches, especially since he has taken her to chateau which seems to be overrun with vampires.
Gabriel Royal is a vampire and a member of the Royal Family of vampires. His mother is a princess. He was given the task of watching after Mona’s daughters by his mother. Once the girls and their father are attacked Gabriel tries to get them out but can only get Hailey out. Once back at the Chateau they realize that they were attacked by Ghouls, not to find out who the Ghouls are working for. Gabriel tells Hailey to trust him to protect her and he will help her find her sister and her father. She has no one else to turn to so she has no choice but to trust him.
While Gabriel is helping Hailey search for her family, she is swept into Gabriel’s world along with that of his family (all vampire royalty). Now that she and Gabriel are working together she realizes that she in danger of losing more than her blood and freedom to the brooding vampire. Will Hailey lose her heart to Gabriel? Will Gabriel realize that the human Hailey means more to him than he thought? Will they be able to get past the whole vampire not mating human thing in order to have a happily ever after?

This is book one of the series Blood Royals. This was an enjoyable story and I loved the concept. The storyline was intriguing and it was filled with drama, suspense, and action. I liked the character, they were interesting. However I found at times this storyline lacked something, perhaps it's empathy and possibly warmth. I think that storyline moved along quiet smoothly, but at times the characters felt a bit flat and quiet abrupt. So overall this was an ok read for me.
I would have given this book 4 stars, but it seems there is no other book, and I know this has been out for a long while. Kind of disappointing. The story just ends. It was super short.
I was immediately hooked on this story which is as much crime thriller as it is magic and mayhem, but a romance it's not..Yet.
I love paranormal romance of all kinds and Lola Kidd, one of my favourite authors in the genre has begun a brand new series featuring vampires, but I've only read her hot shifter stories before so although I had some idea of what to expect from 'The Vampire's Claim', the first book in the Blood Royals series, in terms of writing style, the actual story was very different from what I imagined it would be. It waded into the action from the first page and I was immediately hooked on this story which is as much crime thriller as it is magic and mayhem, but if you're hoping for lots of steamy bits and a happily ever after, you're not going to get it.... at least not in this book.
Hailey Martin has had a few shocks in the last day. First her mother is killed in a car accident, then her father starts acting very strangely, even more strangely than usual, carrying a gun, continually checking what's going on outside the window and telling them her mother was a Queen Witch amongst other revelations. Her self-centred younger sister Lila couldn't care less and only makes the situation worse, until she thinks there's something in it for her. Frustrated, confused and disgusted, Hailey is afraid of what the future holds and money troubles are her biggest worry, until the room fills with smoke...
Amelia, Vampire Princess and owner of The Chateau hotel is beside herself worrying about the danger to her clan after Mona Martin and her two vampire bodyguards die in a car accident. Mona has been their biggest ally for thirty years and the charms she put in place to protect her daughters are the reason Amelia moved everybody to Jonestown in the first place. Now they have to get to the daughters and make sure they're safe before everything comes crashing down around them and the paranormal residents start leaving town in droves. Suspicious of the accident and needing to protect the girls, she sends Gabriel, her stone-cold youngest son to get them, but when he arrives at their house....
I'm not going to give spoilers, but this isn't your typical paranormal romance, or a romance at all... yet...but there is promise for the next book, and despite being filled with great characters like Lucy, Celine, Aiden and Kofi, as well as sinister ones like Benjamin and having mysteries to investigate, there is no steam or romance in this book, just an arrangement and a claiming that will keep everybody safe and alive, or at least still walking undead, until they can find out what's going on, deal with it and go their separate ways. The story is good, if not actually what I'd consider complete and although they solve the mystery and deal with the bad guy, the book ends rather abruptly... not exactly a cliffhanger, but not even close to a happily ever after either, more like a multi-part story with a 'to be continued....' at the end, which was both ok and frustrating at the same time. I love a good crime solving as much as the next person, but, based on past experience with this author, I was expecting a romance with a happily ever after and I didn't get it. What I got at the end of the book was a sentence that could be built on and pretty much 'if you want the romance part of the story, you're going to have to read the next book in the series'.
I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review and although the story is good and enjoyable as it stands, it's not billed as either a crime story or a romance, but it is inferred in the blurb that it's both and although I loved the story I kept waiting for the romance part to start and I was disappointed when it didn't, but it's still worth 4 of Amazon's stars.
Hailey and her sister lila were with thier dad as he talked crazy. There Mom had just been killed and he was saying things like she was a powerful witch. It had got to the point Haily though her father might need to get mental help. Then out of nowhere the house filled up with smoke and a red eyed being grabbed her. Next thing she knew she was in the car with a vampire who had saved her. Gabriel was sent to watch over the two daughters of a powerful witch who had just died. He found the house full of smoke and being attacked. He was able to safe the father and get one girl but the other was taken. They needed the girls to keep the wards and protection spells up on the city and the vampires villa. So who would want the girls ? Some one it after them. This looks like a great series! Book one was awesome. I loved the mystery and action. The characters were lots if fun. I can't wait to read more
Title: The Vampire’s Claim Series: Blood Royals Destination: Book 1, 131 Pages, Cliffhanger Author: Lola Kidd Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #Vampires #Witches My Score: #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ ♡¤▪♡¤▪♡¤▪♡¤▪♡¤▪♡¤▪♡¤▪♡ Ms. Lola has another hit series, I was hooked from the start, not expecting the cliffhanger shoot I was so pumped and then Wham!! All I can think of is Book 2, when is it coming out. Yes, I definitely recommend this book you’ll be duct tape to your chair. Hailey Martin is a human, She worked at a independent bookstore downtown. Hailey and her sister can't believe what's going on, her mother Mona Martin is the Witch Queen, of the Jonestown Coven. First her mother dies in a car accident, then her father starts acting very strangely, Walking around ranting and raving. Saying he has to protect them. Gabriel Royal is a 100 yr old Vampire who comes from a Royal Family. His mother Amelia is the Princess of the New World. Gabriel's mother asked him to protect the Queen Witch's daughters, when he goes to there house they were being attacked BUT by who? Can Gabriel save them? I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.
This is a very interesting start to a new series about vampires and witches.
Hailey is learning all about the magical world around her after her mother's death. She is taken in by vampires who say they want to protect her but she is not sure who to trust. Gabriel is one of the younger vampires and becomes her protector as they work to discover who is out to get her and her family.
I look forward to more books in the series. There is a lot left unanswered. The relationship between Hailey and Gabriel is very complicated. I am hoping the next book will answer a lot more quesitons and focus on developing their relationship. I really want to see them explore their feelings.
I have read lola's shifter books so was very excited when I recieved this ARC based on vampires. Hailey's life is changing thats for sure. She has just found out her mothers dead and she was alo a witch. If thats not enough shes is attacked in her own home and saved by a vampire. Gabriel is a son to the vampire princess. His job is to mak sure Hailey and her sister are safe. Will he be able to protect them? Will he be able to let Hailey leave when its all over? A great first installment with strong characters and a good plot. I had to stay up late to finish it in one sitting so I knew what happened and now i can't wait for the next installment.
Her mother died and now people are after her and her sister but she does not know why. He is ordered to help save the girls but he only can find 1 when her house is attacked. He does not want to care for a human but some how she has crept into his heart, she is not sure what to believe but she wants to be closer to him. Now they need to find the truth before someone ends up dead.
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.I was very impressed with the way the author wrote this story line and I loved it. To me it is totally different from the other books the author has written but I think this to will be a big hit.
There were many things wrong with this book. So it starts off well enough but a couple chapters in the questions start to mount. First; what's the point of him claiming her they say it's to make her safe but no one knows that she's been claimed. By that I mean vampires, witches, shifters etc can't tell. She doesn't have a mark or a scent heck an aura, anything. So the only people who know are Gabe and like two others. How does that keep her safe? In fact Gabe started trying to hide that he claimed her. I don't get it. Next the ending was super rushed. Like half a books worth of material was crammed into one chapter. Then it abruptly ends in a cliff hanger.
This was pretty good in that it made me want to keep reading but I felt the story was not very consistent and the characters were really underdeveloped. Also, the relationship between Hailey and Gabrielle made me mad because it was very instantaneous. It was like one minute she hated and mistrusted him, the next they were friends, then she was afraid again, then she loved him. There was no flow. I will probably pick up the next one and hopefully I can connect more with the characters and their relationship. I did really enjoy Celine and Aiden though. They made me laugh/smile several times throughout the book.
What a interesting read. Definitely not what I expected it has a little bit of everything to keep you entertained. I was a little bit confused about Hailey and Gabriel relationship I knew it was complicated but there a lot of unanswered questions. Plus it ended so abruptly I really hope that the next book will have the answer to all the unanswer question. I hope that they focus more on developing the relationship between Gabriel and Hailey I want to see them explore their feelings for another. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
An enticing way to start an obsession I'd say to this book, right from the beginning it drew, Vampires and Witches a paranormal feast, slightly different as there is attraction but not taken to lusty levels, they dance around each other and seems we have strict rules in this clan. It has that touch of violence, that mystery as to what's going to happen next, it is a cliffhanger of sorts annoying but also wets your appetite for more. If you enjoy paranormal you will enjoy this story. The characters where interesting and as the story progresses I'm sure it will be even more appetising.
Another great read. Was sad when I got to the end. I always get sad when done reading. This book is a must read. The author knows how to get the reader to keep reading. Cannot wait to read more by Lola Kidd. Keep the great work and thank you for writing such a great book. I greatly appreciate the hard work I know you put into the books you write. Well time to read more books and I really really hope others will read more books. Books are like music. It's good for the soul and lots of fun.
Loved it !!! I hope this series continues on for awhile, it's nice to read something different from this author. Mind you I love her shifters series a lot also but a change can be good and this story is good. I recommend it.
Why do they vampires care about these wards?what do they do? Why did the vampire bond with a human if they were keeping it a secret and were planning on keeping the human locked up safe? Why/how did they fall for each other? The story didn't show anything just told me.
Great start to the series. The characters are all very interesting and unique. They are very likeable. I can see this story going so many different ways. I love stories that keep you guessing. Can't wait to pickup book 2.
