Fighter. I've always been a fighter, Even before I knew it was in my blood. I fought the demons of my past. I fought for my life. I fought for the future I wanted. Growing up in a foster home, after my father killed my mother, I fought for who I was, Who I could become. And now, it's what I do, what I am. My career is in the ring, taking down every opponent I face, Every enemy who threatens me. I fight. But now, I've got the biggest fight of my life, Fighting for her, the one I want, The one I can't have. Salem Harris is taken, but I swear to God, She'll be mine, even if I go down for the count, I'll fight like Hell for her, Or die trying.
Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Christa is a sucker for young love and happy endings—of all varieties. Her first book, Broken, was written as a tribute to the man she met and fell in love with at the young age of sixteen. Fast forward twenty-something years, they’re still going strong and navigating through life with three children, three dogs, and a lizard.
As a writer, Christa expresses what she knows about life, love and hardships through her characters, which is why they will always be relatable with real problems. As readers, you’ll be thrust into their world, feel their heartache, take on the obstacles life throws at them, and ultimately experience the elation of their happily ever after.
When she's not carting her kids around to numerous sporting events, you’ll find her writing, reading, wasting time on Facebook, or watching television shows like The Walking Dead, Shameless, Ink Master, or Vikings.
Salem and Gabriel are two people who deserve love, but don't feel they do. Gabriel is a boxer who just has one night stands. Salem is in a one-sided relationship. As soon as he lays eyes on her, it's all over. He wants nothing more to make Salem his. But there's one problem, she has a boyfriend and she is constantly blowing him off. That is until the night Gabriel saves her from seeing her boyfriend cheating on her. Salem's feelings change toward him and she starts to see Blaine's (her Bf) true colors. Relationships are hard, but can work out if both people put 100% into it. Through heartache and loss, they made it. Salem and Gabriel's love story is amazing. They never gave up on each other and both achieved everything they wanted. I would definitely recommend this to everyone to read. I cannot wait to read more of Crista's books❤️

4 Stars
I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning it pulls you in and makes you want to know the characters and makes you want to know their stories. This book is a sports romance novel and it’s not a genre that I have read a lot from but this book definitely changed that. I loved our boxer Gabriel/Saint. It is made known from the beginning that Saint has had a pretty terrible life. And because of that it is partly what drives him to become the next great boxer. Though he ends up getting in trouble. However, the trouble he gets in will lead him straight to Salem. Salem is rich and snobby who has never known hardships like Saint has known. Salem has her entire life mapped out to the very inch, that is until Saint makes her start to question everything including her current relationship. Saint see Salem as a challenge and he demands to break down her walls.
The plot was captivating and I loved how the characters were more than your arrogant male and snobby rich girl. Both character’s have family difficulties and the entire way through the book I was curious how it would end.
This series was about loss and the hope that comes with it. Both of those things drive all of the character relationships. Very well-written!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. You realize from the beginning that the lead male, Gabriel "The Saint", has been dealt a crappy hand at life. His father's an murder and he gets separated from his brother. He deals with it with his fist, booze and girls just like an typical alpha male would. You really feel sorry for him and fall in love with him at the same time when you realize he helps his boss take care of under privileged kids at his training gym. He's an excellent fighter and when he meets Salem, he just wants in her pants. Salem comes from the top. Top of the line, clothes, house and everything really. She's not had to deal with all the stuff Saint has. I think that's why she falls from him, because he's still strong after everything thrown his way. There is a ton of big characters in this book and lots of drama with a side of heartbreak. It's also funny and a little dirty! 'I nip her neck. Her head lolls back onto my shoulder and a soft moan escapes. I love how her body reacts to my touch. Neither of us have any control when the other is around.' It really is a great book and it doesn't leave you hanging on parts wanting to know everything that happens. Christa delivers above and beyond for one single novel.
3.5stars is boxing romance. For me this book was to long with so many unimportant sentences and events. And I had struggle but really struggled to finish it. The story in general was not bad had interesting characters which were well develop. It is also just Saints POV so we see a men side of story. I didn’t like Saint in general. He was a prick, stubborn and arrogant and for me too selfish. To many time he acted a little bit of compulsive and hurt other ones feelings with his words and actions. If he did not show love toward his brother, Frankie and Salem I would stop reading and would not finish the book. With Salem they had in the beginning love hate relationship which becomes secret and in the end a lot of things happen until they become happy. But I did because I was interesting in what happens in the end and I must say I was pleasant surprised. *ARC provided by Netgalley and author in exchange for an honest review
Gabriel "Saint" Vega and Salem Harris are in for quite a wild ride. Saint is a boxer, he has serious talent and could be the champion. He's grown up with a crappy childhood and rescued by a judge he is who he is today because of that. He's a player though, and one fiery red head is going to dump his world upside down.
Salem is from the other side of the tracks. Her parents have planned out her life for her and expect her to do what is expected. Saint is the last thing she needs. She has an amazing boyfriend, is finishing school. She doens't need his kind of trouble...except their chemistry and feelings for each other are explosive. There is so much going on in these books that makes you not want to put it down. I really enjoyed them.

Hot damaged alpha, check. Love triangle, check. Sexy scenes, check. Hot fighters, check. Gabriel the Saint Vega, swoon. His hot blooded and knows what he wants- enter Salem a woman who ignites him in so many ways, she is a temptation he can't ignore, he has to have her, no matter what. Saint is a fighter and even as a child he had to fight for what he wanted, now what he wants is a feisty redhead that makes his pulse race. If you haven't read this story do it, you won't be disappointed, great for boxing fans and anyone who loves a steamy romance.
This book is amazing, intense, emotional and steamy. This book deals with family, friendships, love, and loss. The author draws the reader in from beginning to end and you won't want to put it down. The story is well written and descriptive. It was told in Saint's pov. The characters Gabriel (Saint) and Salem were well developed and likeable and their love is undeniable. This is one fantastic read.
I received this book for a honest review. OMG I loved it Gabriel (Saint) et Salem is a wonderfully written story. It kept my attention firmly on the book. I loved all the other characters. I just love a HEA.
Down For The Count by Christa Cervone is at the top of my favorite sports romance reads. Saint and Salems forbidden romance, a love triangle, trauma and triumph; DFTC has it all!
