Nostalgia: God's Broken Heart

Rate this book
God's heart is broken as His people look to other things for satisfaction, joy and peace. He is not willing to let them go. He relays His anguish through Hosea, the broken hearted prophet. In this prophetic book lies the core speaking of God to the Western world. Wrought with divine nostalgia, God calls His people to solitude with Him that He may whisper into their ears and be their deliverance and all satisfying lover. Though others cried, "injustice" Hosea cries, "You don't love me anymore."

God's Broken Heart. Forgive Me Lord. What is overwhelming is that I have been entrusted with not breaking God's Heart.

First off Eric did an outstanding teaching on the Prophet Hosea. I have read it several times, and upon the third reading of it, I am overcome with sadness, that my ears were not able to hear God's brokenness before. The reading of the book, really the mediating on the book will bring our ears to be able to hear from God's heart, Brother Eric has opened to all that read the book an spiritual awareness of our Fathers heart. It is any easy read with profound truths. The Lord begins His ministry with the command to repent. May the Lord even now give us the heart to repent for breaking God's heart. Jesus continues to instruct us to follow him. Lord if I get ahead of you, yes you can tell me, Satan get behind me, teach us to submit in meekness and humility to follow you and not break your heart. My brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Make a joyful noise into the Lord.....
P.s. Get the Book.....
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord... Psalm 100:1-5.
Thank you and God Bless you,
Brother Eric Gilmour

This was a short devotional (38 pages / 30-min. reading or less) based on the book of Hosea. The main focus of this book was to point out that people are not seeking the real presence of the Lord in their lives or putting Him first. The first highlighted sentence for me was :"The core of the adultery and idolatry of God's people is that they are being satisfied with other things." - - I think that this is true. He points out that even ministry work can become a distraction away from the true and close presence of the Lord. He wishes for us to rest in Him. "God longs for us to come to a silent place where He can have all of our attention." I appreciate this gentle reminder that the Lord wants one-on-one communion with each of His children.

Beautiful, Timely

What a beautiful and timely book for the Body of Christ at this hour. It is far too easy in this world to get wrapped up in our own needs, desires, thoughts, and concerns. But what about God? What about God’s desires? What about God’s heart? In this powerful short book, Eric Gilmour takes us through the bowels of Hosea to the heart of the matter: God. More specifically God’s. More specific yet: God’s broken heart. I was so blessed and encouraged reading it and encourage anyone longing for more of God to read this book (or any of Eric’s for that matter!). Timely and true, I can both highly recommend this book and believe you’ll be richly rewarded for doing so.

A deep review of the book of Hosea, "Nostalgia" transports you to truth and unveils the condition of your heart through this prophetic account of God's love for His people. Certainly "Nostalgia" captures a glimpse of the crazy love God has for us and helps us understand how we were made and why we need to stay close to God and in Him.

“The tendency of man is to get a fever for the newest thing and simply fall in love with a mere pipe through which the honey of heaven is flowing…Forgetting God is not when God is out of mind, but when God is not first.”
