Cassie Villalobos promised Samson and Ivan Cutter on the day they graduated high school that she would pursue her dreams of becoming a singer-songwriter, no matter what. Raised under the dictatorial thumb of her father, Cassie's promise went unfulfilled. Newly single, her hands are full running her coffee shop, Divine Drip, and dealing with her aging parents, and lothario ex-husband.
Samson and Ivan left Divine after graduation, never intending to return, but they've never forgotten their love for Cassie. Banked embers flare between the three at their thirty year class reunion. Although she has friends in menages, Cassie is intimidated by the desire of two men, believing she is past her prime and the men set out to change her mind.
Samson's passion for sadism is balanced by Ivan's easy affection, and Cassie finds the combination irresistible. Hope flares for fulfilling all her dreams while stirring the distorted illusions of someone obsessed with controlling her.

Heather Rainier lives and writes in South Central Texas. Her stories offer up the content of her fantasies, with humor, tragedy, and triumph mixed in.
Heather's love of romance fiction began as a teenager when her mom gave her copies of Kathleen Woodiwiss's "The Flame and the Flower" and Bertrice Small's "Skye O'Malley". To this day she's pretty sure that was her mom's version of the "birds and the bees" talk.
Heather writes the type of novel she loves to read: More erotic and edgy than the mainstream, with plenty of sweet romance mixed in and a happily ever after guaranteed. Heather's favorite type of hero is the gentle, lovable giant but readers will discover a wide variety of heroes and alphas on the pages of her novels.
When not at her keyboard, Heather is usually busy corralling her teenagers, or loving on her smokin' hot husband, who thankfully loves to cook.

Like the other book I read from this author, this one also allows for a normal (well, nearly normal) amount of time for the relationship to develop. And what’s really refreshing about this one is the characters are pushing 50, and deal with the normal stuff us older people have to deal with - like creaky knees and uncooperative body parts!
I think what I really like about this one was that Cassie and her boys aren't fresh young things, instead they are firmly in middle age. In fact they end up going to their 30 year high school reunion. It was great to see Sampson, Ivan and Cassie reconnect and find they still had the same feelings, although this time around Ivan was brought in as more. I liked how they all talked about things, how the guys reassured Cassie that she was still attractive and desired, how they were there to support her and her dreams, something that was lacking in her life previously. They all were such a great match!
A great scene in this book ended up at the BDSM club where Cassie proved she would fight for what she wanted.
This was an enjoyable book. I go through spells where I like to read menage just because of the family and community feel I get from this author in her writing. It was a fun and enjoyable book. You won't be disappointed in the story.
happy ending for people over 45 years old. (thank you Mrs Rainier) Second chance. Father domineering, hateful. A Golden boy mean, hypocrite Cassi persévérante, patiente, travaillante, dévouée. Samson et Ivan dévoués, bons. Retrouveront-ils leur amour de jeunesse?
Excuse me while I go total squealing fangirl. I am not ashamed to admit I have read the entire Divine Creek Series more than once, it’s probably closer to fifty, but who’s counting? This is yet another excellent installment in the series from Heather Rainier.
This story takes that age old attitude that love and hot sex are only for the young and grinds it to dust. Proving what we, the not so young crowd, know is true, that love over forty, can be hot-as-hell, even though we are no longer young or “perfect”. This story also touches on sensitive subjects, such as verbal and emotion abuse, as well as, the lasting effects of such abuse. How it affects us as adults, and how our own self-perception can and often is shaped by how others treat us, their words and actions.
The story centers around three main characters. Cassie Villalobos, the heroine, a divorced mother of two grown children and owner-operator of Divine Drip. Samson Cutter, hero #1 who we met (and I fell in love with) in Bunny and the Beast, is Cassie’s old high school sweetheart. Ivan Cutter, hero #2, Samson’s twin brother and chef extraordinaire, is Cassie’s high school friend who secretly loved her from afar. Hate and anger tore them apart as teenagers and lies and life kept them apart as adults. Fate brings them full circle and offers all of them another chance at happily ever after. All they have to do is take it.
I love the yin and yang dynamic between Samson and his twin brother, Ivan. They are the perfect men for Cassie. Like all the men in Divine, they love their woman unconditionally, to them she is the sexiest woman in their world.
Just like the other 22 books in this series, How Cassie Got Her Grind Back is packed with realistic, well-developed characters, love, laughter, raw emotion, and super smexy love scenes. A heartwarming story about second chances, healing, and destiny. It reminds us that it’s never too late to change our stars and make old dreams a reality. Cassie definitely got her grind back with a little help *wink wink* from a Dom, a chef, and a nudge, from a Bunny and her Beast.
I love returning to Heather Rainier’s Divine Creek Ranch series. And I can honestly say that How Cassie Got Her Grind Back will probably be one of those stories that I gravitate to again and again. First of all, the characters are mature. Something that is rare. Cassie, Samson and Ivan were almost high school sweethearts. Scandal destroyed their friendship or at least Cassie’s father’s iron fisted control and general meanness would be a more accurate culprit. But time has passed and while Ivan and Samson never had kids, Cassie managed to cobble a family together which involves two. I loved that Ms. Rainier gave us a romance which didn’t run smoothly but involved people who had experience life, good and bad. Samson and Ivan never got over Cassie but believed she had escaped only to learn Cassie’s dreams never materialized. I loved seeing Cassie, Ivan and Samson rekindle the friendship and love as adult. Ms. Rainier showed us that age really is nothing but a number. Love knows no boundaries and the physical expression of that love does not end just because you are older. This story was wonderfully well written. It showed characters that had to fight for a future. Cassie had to move passed her upbringing to accept that she is worthy of love and respect. Samson and Ivan had to forgive themselves and grab hold to the woman they have always loved. Ms. Rainier showed that insecurities don’t disappear with age. You just fight harder to move past them and to grab forgotten dreams. I loved this story and I am sure that you will as well.
Heather hasn't lost any steam since this series started! Every storyline is new and draws you into a special person's life. We've seen so much heartache turn around to joy over the past few years. It's so nice to have such a happy place like Divine Creek that we can go to. I seriously hope this series never ends.
Cassie has finally come full circle in her life. She's at a new beginning after her husband did her the biggest favor in the world. He divorced her. It came at a time in her life when most husbands are stepping in to help their wives get back on their feet. But Bill jumped ship for completely selfish reasons.
Samson and Ivan found Cassie again right before their 30th high school reunion. Neither married because they never found a woman that could fill Cassie's shoes. Now they're determined to rekindle a better relationship and have Cassie all to themselves.
This book was great. It really shows how love can survive through a long separation and be stronger than before. I can't wait for the next book!
3.5 stars! A pleasant read but not a huge of a favourite, mainly because it's a bit hard for me to connect with Cassie. It was definitely heartwarming to watch Cassie, Samson and Ivan finally get together after so many lost years. Ivan is definitely a woobee while Samson, despite being a growly grizzly and a sadist at that, is a huge marshmallow. A lovely lovely trio! <3 Their chemistry is amazing and it's cute seeing them together. A little less drama as compared to the rest of the series. It'd be good if we could see more of her kids though. I'm rather curious who these friends of Presley are...
OMG!!!! What can I say that hasn't already been said. I loved it not shocking since Heather is 1 of my go to authors. I loved that this was a book about second chance love. High School sweethearts that were pulled apart by outside forces only to be brought back together by mutual friends. You see the the growth from teenagers to adulthood. I did however want to slap her ex husband and and father for the way the greater Cassie. Oh and let's not forget Jillian on her trip to Hazel House. I know this review definitely does this book justice, but trust me it's worth it.
I really enjoyed Ivan, Cassie, and Samson's story. Heather Rainier knows how to write steamy, sexy, irresistible menage with light BDSM. We see some of our favorite Divine people, and get treated to story full of love and delicious sex. I LOVED the message this story held too: that no matter your age or size, your beautiful and deserve love. This story was perfect and I already am eager for the next story. Well done Miss Rainier, well done!
I think every woman whos been put down, controlled, and made to feel worthless throughout her life, would have the same insecurities as Cassie did. I beieve every woman goes through feeling like she's not goof enough, to old etc. I felt for the three of them, thier future stolen from them. So happy she was able to find trust , truth, in herself and open her heart up to her first loves, They deserve it.!!!!!! Fantastic story FANTASTIC SERIES. loving, sexy, hopeful pure love story
I have read all of Heather Rainers books. Each one gets to me in a different way. Cassie is a beautiful women but she thinks she is passed her prime. The Cutter men have loved her for over 30 years. Certain people tried to keep them apart but fate would not have it. This book shows that a strong women who has been pushed around can stand up and say no more. These men give her the strength that she has always had.
Even after 23 books Ms. Rainier has kept this series fresh. This installment dealt with a mature group, with mature issues. While dealing with major family conflicts, Cassie, Samson and Ivan deal with medical and physical maturity; personally and parental. They deal with being sexual beings in the sandwich generation; caring for her mother while also being responsible for her children. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
Love...love...love this series. Have from the beginning. The women are written with believable qualities, both good and bad. The men always seem to have the patience and understanding. Samson and Ivan already were in love with Cassie, but it was a youthful love. Time changes everyone, either you accept that and move forward, or you don't. The sex is hot and real for the characters involved. Enjoy the book a lot..
I really enjoyed Cassie's story. I could relate to many things she went thru and I felt her pain. I am glad she finally got her second chance at HEA with Samson and Ivan. My heart went out for the two men, finding out more about their lives. As usual, Ms. Rainier did it beautifully spinning a tale worth reading. 5 stars from me. Waiting for the next story ;)
A great read and wonderful addition to the series.
I love this book and this series. It is so well written and I love the connection to the Lusry Texas series. You can't help but connecting to the characters and becoming invested in the outcome. I highly recommend this book and all the rest of the books in this series.
OMG I'm so glad Cassie got her HEA. Who says you can't find happiness later in life. Cassie's children are grown and she's recently divorced. Can she finally go after what she's wanted all her life? Samson and Ivan let the best thing that happened to them get away. Now their high school reunion is coming up. Can they rekindle the love they had? Can Cassie get past Samson's lifestyle? I can't wait to read the next one, soon I hope.
