ADAM

I had to save them,
Had to be the hero,
To protect my family.

And I ruined it all.
I walked out on the only woman I ever loved.
No word.
No notice.
Nothing.
I broke her,
And destroyed myself.

I'm determined to fix it,
To win her back.
When I left Amethyst Amero,
She may have crumbled,
But she's far from shattered now.
She's strong, sexy, and secure.
And she wants nothing to do with me.

AMETHYST

When Adam Silver walked out of my life for a football career,
It was over for me.
He was everything to me,
And he walked away without warning.
But I survived,
I built myself back up, recreated myself,
And never looked back.

But now, he's ready to pick up where we left off.
I refuse to let that happen.
Too many wounds,
Too long ago.
That was the past.
This is the present.
And he certainly isn't my future.
Or is he?

Fair Game is the first book I've read from author Emerson Rose. I like her style of writing, it's easy to follow with good plot lines and character development.
Adam Silver, aka The Silver Snake, seems to have it all. A brilliant career as a star quarterback, tons of money and his pick of women. What no one knows about Adam is that he has a very big secret as to why he walked away from his family and girlfriend Amethyst 6 years ago without saying a word. When Adam gets unexpectedly hurt in practice their lives come crashing back together. Amethyst is called to help with his rehabilitation, but can she keep it professional and not let her anger and hurt get in the way? Adam tries to smooth thinks over, but Amethyst isn't having it. She wants answers and that's just something Adam can't give her. After a dangerous situation occurs Adam is forced to reveal his secret. Will this be enough for Amethyst to forgive him or is it too late for them? There is a big twist at the end that I didn't see coming!

Cute football second chance story
Adam always wanted to go into the professional football had it all planned even being married with his love Amethyst. When one day he just and up and leaves his family and and her broke Ame heart. Now years later he injured himself and since ame is into sport medicine she is the only one to help him. Only Ame isn't happy to see him she still wants answer but he isn't ready to tell his secrets. He being near her knows that she will always be his love but when the secrets are still in the air and someone nearly burns her inside the house Adam knows its time to tell her why he left plus there is still other secrets that he needs to tell her.
Adam kept the pity to himself and things could have been different if he had told her what was going on. In the end they did get their happy ending.

I hated this book!! Intensely. I am shocked to read this book that Emerson Rose has written. Normally she knows how to write emotionally about, loss, pain, devastation, abandonment, heart break and how it can psychologically harm that person. But this is such an unworthy storyline to her body of work to date!. Explanation = your man of 13 years have left you with no warning, you never saw it coming, your last words were by text message words of endearment from both parties, next day; he's gone and his family cut you out of their life's too. Within 6 years, he's a big football star and a man whore!! He has a fatal injury and your brought into help him recover from those injury, as your a professional sports nurse, do you forgive him? Straight away? Even if you still have that same attraction for him! Do you show him how weak at the knees you are for him? Within seconds? Hell to the effing NO!!!!! Remember you have no contact with your ex for 6 bloody years!!!!! Now imagine this scenario, living with this creep to help him recover so that he can get back to his overpaid job/career, within that first week you find out he has made a baby with someone else!!! Do you still forgive him quickly? All those plans that you made with this muthafu#@er for 13 years, he's given to someone else, you have been left alone to pick up the pieces of your broken heart, to live and get your life back on track!. You just go and roll over to your desire and go take this fool back so easy and marry him and be able to love his child like it's both of yours!!! Now don't get me wrong I know the child is innocent, but this jerk isn't!!!! I wouldn't/could never be with this guy under no circumstances! My trust is broken, gone! Regardless the love I had for this man! This is one story I believe could of ended without a HEA, sorry. But there is some wrongs that just cannot be put right, even after his explanation, which he did not put out straight away!! This book, story, plot was such a trigger for me, too similar to what I have been thru! I expected more from Emerson Rose, this why I don't have a high list of favourite authors, as they really don't go into the rationale and the psychological impact/damage a person goes thru, they white wash their romance story as if it can be explained by love/lust as if that is the cure to a broken heart, broken trust! And the few authors that are the best writers know there's more then sex, lust and even love can't conquer, they go into what it takes for a person to overcome the hurt and pain to try and trust that person again and that's why I loved Emerson Rose books so much, cause she goes in deep! Not this book, it was like all the rest of those other books, no explanation, no justification, no ramifications, he just got her without bending backwards and she gave in, just like that, he didn't have to put the work in. What a let down, a big disappointment.....blah, blah, blah

I wanted to like this book but it was hard to believe. Amethyst is supposed to be a strong woman who was betrayed by the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with. Adam left her behind when he became a professional football player. One minute she hates him, the next she is lost in the past. The mob story was hard to believe along with the way Adam handled everything.

Amethyst "Ame" is a traveling nurse that specializes in the rehabilitation of athletes. When she is rerouted at the last minute from Florida to Virginia, the last thing she wanted was for her new patient to be him. Adam was the love of her life who up and disappeared on her with no explanation at all. He gets seriously injured during football practice, and he wants…needs Ame to nurse him back to health. Adam does have his reasons for leaving Ame all those years ago, but is it too little too late? It’s 4th and long with time about to run out…Adam only has once choice left…a Hail Mary. Will Ame give him another chance and catch the pass for a touchdown? Or will she allow the life she always dreamed of having to pass right through her fingertips?

I love Emerson Rose’s style of writing. However, I felt like Fair Game was a little rushed toward the end. As a huge football fan, I personally would have loved a little more football in this sports romance. The chemistry between these two characters though was off the charts! You could practically feel the sparks from the pages.

I give 3.5 stars to Fair Game.

Fair Game was filled with sexual tension, angst and love, lots of it. It was hard at times reading through their past together and the heartbreak that it brought them, specially since that heartbreak came from their love. It was beautiful to see Adam and Ame come together again and overcoming the problems that kept them apart. The HEA made me happy, they deserved it so much.

***ARC given in exchange for an honest review***

I have to say first that I did like this book, overall. With that being said, I did have a hard time with both the story and characters. This story is about Amethyst and Adam. Ame is a nurse working to rehabilitate sports stars, and Adam is a football star. They were together for a better part of their whole life, when out of the blue he just picked up and left her once he was drafted into the NFA without a single word from him. Ame never moved past that. She has hated him ever since. She is now forced to work with him because of an injury that could be career ending. I had really high hopes for this book. Ame seemed so strong and independent. I thought that she was going to be able to hold her own against Adam once they were thrown together. He was so hard to like. He was such a pompous a$$. Of course he had his reasons for leaving, and they are valid reasons, but man he made it impossible to find a reason for them to be together. There was so much in this book that just didn't set well with me. I knew going into the book that it was going to be a second chance romance. What I didn't expect was how moody and back and forth the h was. Or, even better, how the H was such a manwhore because he just couldn't cope with being without his love. The love of his life. He believed the answer was in the bed of every groupie he could get his hands on. Meanwhile, the h is still having trouble getting over him, after 6 years, but adamantly states over and over again that she will not have anything to do with him. BUT, after only being in his presence for a few minutes, she is falling into his charms again. It was so frustrating! But, I'm glad I gave this book a chance.

I’m a big fan of Emerson Rose – I adore her writing style. She has a way with words and making them into a story that I cannot out down.

Adam and Amethyst (Ame) – are childhood friends that became lovers ~ 13 years together and then one day !BAM! Adam disappears, his family brushes Ame off. No one will explain to her what the heck happened. Ame has no idea why and is hurt beyond belief – they had a life plan, they were going to get married and have kids for goodness sake. Then she sees him on TV – he’s a famous football star! Ame loves him deep down but she also hates him for the hurt he has caused her. Why would Adam do this to her? HOW could Adam do this to her?

Adam has a secret that has kept him from Ame, he can’t tell her about said secret. The only thing he can do now is save her from the secret. Will the truth come out? Will Adam tell Ame why he left her all those years ago?

Ame has an awesome career in sports nursing – she travels the country helping injured sports players. What she never saw happening was Adam getting hurt and requesting her to help him recover. Adam has a plan and he is going to win Ame back! If I were Adam I would also be trying to win her back – Ame was by far my favorite heroine in an Emerson story. I adored her!

As usual, with an Emerson Rose story – you aren’t prepared for the twists and turns. I had this story all figured out and then a twist “ Ok, I can go with the twist” then a turn – Mind. Blown.

4 Stars from me. I received a complimentary copy of Fair Game in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I thought this was going to be your typical sports romance story. Even the first chapter came off that way but sticking around was the best decision I could make and it paid off well. Emerson Rose certainly brings to the genre a different twist. Edgy but with a simple ease that made for an invigorating read.

Amethyst, Ame to her friends and family, and Adam are no doubt the perfect couple. Two peas in a pod. The peanut butter to the others jelly. I love that there's a huge secret, a past so vile that it kept them apart for six long years. And its that same shady past that brings them back together. Ame hates that she loves Adam after abruptly leaving her. Adam loves her with every fiber of his being but hates that he can't tell her the what and the why. But circumstance forces all secrets out to dry on the line like the proverbial dirty laundry that it is thus some pretty awesome twists and turns take place.

I loved that this book had a thrilling and exciting, storyline laced with a hint of a darker side. I wish there was a bit more sports involved, and some of the story line seemed a bit rushed but all in all, it kept my attention, had me at the edge of my seat in some parts, and the love story between the two characters was like coming back home! I'm definitely going to check out more Emerson Rose!

I was given an ARC By the publisher for my honest review.

This was not a bad book, but there were way too many issues for it to be a great book. The parts that should have been explained in more detail were very rushed, and the
parts that could have been skimmed over had way too much information for my liking. I still Don't think Ame ever got the full story about Cherry from Adam. He tells her about Cherry's death and in the next scene she knows Cherry's real name without him ever telling her? She hates him and will never forgive him, but next thing you know he gives her a half- assed explanation and they are engaged. A week after they have sex for the first time she is pregnant. The mom has been buried for a week and she is adopting the daughter. Timelines were completely skewed and storylines were half-finished. Adam was a cocky, self absorbed jerk who seemed incapable of love until his daughter was introduced to the story. The feelings he had for Ame were not believable
to me. And the way Ame just accepted his explanation with no question and immediately
jumped back into his arms after saying over and over again that she hated him and would never trust him again? Once again, not believable. This book has potential, but fell short for me.

So this was included with Fair Play and part of the Football Romance series, and while it's about football players, there's really no football at all. This is pretty close to a carbon copy of FP too. It's not a bad read, but its really nothing I would recommend. The story is short and has a feel of haphazard direction. There's really no foundation and the characters are pretty shallow. Things keep happening that seem to be tossed in along the way rather than strategically pieced together. Funny thing is, I see real potential in the writing, just not in the delivery. Reminds me a lot of that catastrophe movie with John Cusak "2012". Things just keep dropping in the path of the story and it so far fetched, and world shattering, then it simply wraps up into a neat and tidy HEA. There is one more included with this, Fair Catch, but I have a feeling its going to be more of the same and I have a ton of books I am dying to try, so I'm likely not going to get back to this for a while, if at all. I do hope this author pushes herself out of the template she's stuck in, because I think she could do so much more.

Bad

Couldn't finish this book less than half way threw. Geez have some respect for yourself. That piece of crap who calls himself a man is not a man a all, he is scum. And she is worse. Geez respect yourself more. He is not someone you wait for. When she was staying at his guest house she should have pick up a nice MSN brought him back and screwed him and made sure the ex new it. Or better yet, went to Florida. I hate book like these.

Yeah You Are Going To Love Every Minute!!

I have just surfaced from being so in love with not only the writer of these stories but the stories themselves. The men are true alphas with a few flaws that can't be fixed and boy are you going to love helping! The women are strong and independent but not so much you don't or can't like them. This was life romance done well a d you are going to enjoy to the fullest. There are going to be moments where you have take a moment and say "this is absolutely the bomb"!So I say take a moment out of your day or each day and just let yourself slip into the world of romance that one only Emerson Rose can create.

Very intriguing on Fair Game

You have got heart breaks, hard heads, family drama, add in a little pinch of mafia. Now stir all of this together and this is how Fair Game came into play.
Don't forget the dessert, a nice big slice of HEA!
