This is Part One of a Three Part Contemporary Romance Trilogy. This story contains adult situations, themes, and explicit sexual content.
Amélie S. Duncan writes contemporary, erotic romances. Her inspiration comes from many sources including her life experiences and travels. She lives on the West Coast of the United States with her husband.
5 we were quite the tragic pair stars. Amelie Duncan has done it again with another riveting tale that incorporates finding yourself in the most delicious of ways and, of course, heartbreak. With delicate word choice and vivid imagery, Duncan weaves you into the story effortlessly. I spent three hours to read the book from start to finish because I couldn't put it down. It ends with a cliffhanger since it is only the first part in the new series, but the ride is a great one.
Piper Rowe is an awesome heroine who is hoping to become a global journalist. Her parents, both hippies and activists during their younger years, are no longer together as her father is dead and her mother is re-married to a sleazy wealthy man. Piper keeps her distance and is very independent. She's rather easy to like because you can see the conflict in her. Piper is independent, snarky, bright, clever and vibrant. She never knew what it would feel like to become completely consumed by someone until she allows herself to fall into Brody.
Brody is a brooding, gentle, tender, sweet and mature man. He's a man scorned by an ex-girlfriend who would never see him as enough no matter what he did or how hard he tried. He's taking care of a good friend's fiancé while Cole (the best friend) is off in the Middle East. On the way to complete the journey and bucket list, Brody meets Piper and struggles with his desire to be with her, have her and his duty to Cole.
The struggle to take care of Seren, to not hurt Piper, and to indulge in his own desires causes Brody to have mood swings. One minute he's teasing and loving, the next he's standoffish and the next he's losing his temper. He can't stand Piper with anyone else but pushes her away to reel her back in. Piper struggles to not get too close while being part of the journey in order to make it as one of the ten global journalism majors. Her good heart is easy to see and her struggle is easy to feel. No one said falling in love was easy, timely or guaranteed to not leave you with a broken heart.
*** WHOA! It’s the first time I read author Duncan’s book and what a surprise! Piper Dreams is a perfect combination of finding yourself, falling in love, heartbreak and sacrifice. This story is told in the dual POV which is my favorite as it allows me to understand both Piper and Brody’s minds. Unfortunately, I missed the fact that this is part 1 of 3 books and it’s a full length novel. I really hope I don’t have to wait too long for the continuation of this beautiful story.
Piper is a college student with big dreams of becoming a global journalist and traveling the world – not exactly a walk in the park. Piper has the grades but his professor has doubts. He seems to think Piper lacks a certain passion, spark and that she is too ordinary to be in such a high caliber program. So, Piper convinces her professor to give her one last chance to prove that she can be strong, vibrant and deserving of a recommendation for an advanced program. The journey begins as Piper treks out with a group of cancer survivors documenting their journey of fulfilling their bucket lists.
I really like Piper’s character. She is strong, determined and has a beautiful heart. She was hurt by so many people and the last thing she needs is a distraction from her goal. But expect the unexpected. Piper meets the sexy Brody who is taking his best friend’s fiancé on her bucket list journey. While Brody’s friend is serving the country in the Middle East, Brody promises to take care of her. Brody and Piper are instantly attracted to each other but Brody is not completely available – he does not want any distraction while carrying out his promise to his best friend. Piper tries to be understanding and be patient with Brody but the guilt that Brody carries with him while spending time with Piper can be too much to handle.
I like the plot of this story – a little of bit of finding yourself, fulfilling your dreams, love and loss. There is also a beautiful, complex, sensual and sexy love story. The writing is pretty great too - flows nicely, kept me intrigued until the end. It’s a cliffy ending though so …. waiting patiently on the next installment.
Blurb: She needs an adventure. He's looking for an escape. Together, they just might find what they both need.

I’m a great fan of Amélie's writing and she’s done it again with another story that’s gripped me and left me desperate to know more. I’ve written to ask if this is a 2 or 3 parter, and some rough release dates for the rest. Edit: Amelie says this is a three parter with part two due in Feb/Mar 16. Thankfully Amelie never keeps us waiting too long.
Its a dual POV read, with chapters from viewpoint of both Piper and Brody. I like that in a novel, it allows me to understand characters, how and why they act, more so than single POV reads. When we first meet Piper she seems a “good” girl, ambitious, works hard at her education, focussed on following her dad’s footsteps as a global journalist. He died some time back, and as well as being a journalist he was also a biker, and her mum accompanied him – biker societies have their own rules - and now her mum is remarried she’s putting that part of her history into cold storage, as if it never happened. She’s remade herself to suit her rich new husband, the obnoxious Royce. For UK readers Royce reminds me so much of the TV sitcom Fools and Horses character Boysie in the sleaze factor, but without the thread of decency and morals Boysie has deep – very deep! – inside.
Piper’s Professor though, the one she really wants to work with in the next year wants something passionate, different, adventurous from her in a writing project, she’s down to one of four for the two last places with him, and has to come up with something quickly. Add to that pressure the need to find work to cover her tuition etc and its going to be a tough few weeks, as her original plans for work have been derailed. Then she meets Brody and Seren.... Seren is cute, really sweet and going through something really tough, and living up some dreams with others in her situation. Brody is with her, its a complicated situation involving him, Seren and his best and long time friend Cole. Cole’s a SEAL and away so it’s Brody that's currently with Seren on her adventure. There’s a sizzle of attraction as soon as he and Piper see each other, and soon as she hears what Seren is doing it sparks an idea for her school project. It fits in well with her changed plans too, and of course getting closer to Brody is an incentive.... and she’s soon in the group. There’s some terrific characters here, some fun and scary times, and Piper and Brody are really pulled towards each other. Piper doesn’t want to get involved in the “complicated” part, but can’t seem to keep away from Brody. He doesn’t want Piper because of the complications and yet he too can’t seem to keep his hands off, and they end up in some seriously steamy and sensual encounters. The issues though, the complications are still there, lead to some hard choices, some on and off moments and when towards the end of the book Cole gets involved it gets even tougher.
I loved Piper, was angry at her mum and as for Royce, eurghh – a real sleaze. In Seren’s group I found some great characters, and of course Seren and Brody. Seren was so cute and yet determined and focussed on some things. She’s at times almost selfish and yet in her shoes who can say they’d be otherwise? Brody I wanted to hit with something heavy...he’s been hurt in the past but that’s not Piper’s fault. He’s in the situation with Seren but that could be got round if he just wanted to work at it, but one moment he’s all go, go, go and then its brakes on, complications, I can’t do .....and as for Cole what a selfish man, he could be with Seren I’m sure but wants to push that off onto Brody and stay with his SEAL pals. I know they do a tough and essential job but its something he chose to do, wasn’t forced, and I just think he’s taking a cop out and using his friend. Still, when that kind of thing happens to me it always seems to mean the author – Amelie in this case – is going to make me have a complete turnaround in thought in next book!!
Stars: Five, its not a stand alone, but stops at a natural break point though leaves me wanting more Now!
Pipers Dreams was one of those books I could not put down and I didn't. I read right through the night to get to the end of this story. This is part 1 of a three part novella. Piper is a girl who is on a mission. A mission to get into the prestigious journalist program offered at her school. She has done everything right, from her school work to her social life. She is perfect, on the outside. Inside I think she earns for something else. Something real. In order for her to get into this program she must do something extraordinary and write about it. Pour her feelings into it. So Piper decides to join a caravan of people who are out on a life journey. A tour of their bucket lists. Piper is there to just document her story but then I believe she becomes the story, when she meets Brody. Brody is there with his BFF's girlfriend Seren. From the outside it seems that Brody and Seren have something going on but further along things become revealed and it is complicated. I wanted to shout at Brody for his confusing ways but I knew he just wanted the best for everyone. For everyone to be ok.
It was a heartbreaking story but it was also filled with love and moments of happiness. The writing was flawless and the way the author wrote about the characters made it seem like they were real people living their lives with certain struggles. Everyone has a story that needs to be told. I am looking forward to the next two novellas to see where this roller coaster ride of a story ends.
This is part one of a 3 part series, it introduces us to Piper, Brody, Seren and the biker babe's. Piper embarks on a journey following the biker babe's as they fulfill their bucket list and live their lives to the fullest. Along the way Piper falls for the swoon worthy Brody, but he's struggling for his desire for her and his duty to look after and protect Seren. This is not a straight forward love story, they are both trying to do the right thing and protect their loved ones. Brody has been hurt in the past and I think he was blinded by his friendship with Cole and that stopped him from going after Piper. Cole was a bit selfish and I really wanted to hit him with a blunt instrument! I loved Piper and how she dealt with her sleazy step dad, but her mam, what a bitch! It ends on a cliffhanger, but a great start to the series.

I've had this book on my kindle for a while after coming across it on Amazon and the blurb sounded intriguing. This is my first read from this author and it was a really good one to start with. Piper Dreams is the first in a trilogy to the series and has a little bit of everything to suit different tastes but you don't lose sight of the main story. With Piper on a mission to get what she wants, to join a journalism program she meets Brody who is on his own personal journey.
Two people come together and experience a different side to themselves and I loved reading that and watch the story and their lives unfold. I couldn't stop reading once I had started, a really great read.
An ode to the meaning of life and how we find it daily. When a romance is infused with a deep sense of self-awareness and freedom, you know you've found something worthwhile.
A biker and a girl with dreams. That's a promise of hot, intense things to come.
A man who's given himself away so much that it's crippled his heart, a woman who's trying to find and prove herself at the same time love crosses her winding path. There we have that emotional drama that can colour any story with a rainbow of feelings.
This story is not exactly easy-going. It has two characters that clash and mold as in real life. They share a love of freedom and a strong pull to each other, yet their fates and class seem so opposing. I liked them together very much. I could feel his intensity and her need for human warmth.
Even the adventure they embark on is so unique and inspiring! Against illness and despair, a bunch of men and woman march on the bikes fulfilling a bucket list to experience life to the fullest while it lasts. It moved me, all the camaraderie and bravery in this quest to celebrate life. The bittersweet romance between Brody and Piper also moved me in the way he fights his feelings and the way she embraces them.
There are strong situations in motion with a man loyal to his friends, a woman who clings to life against all odds, people who chase their dreams and find they are different to what they believed at first. I'm really hopeful for the next part of Piper's story. I think it has great dramatic potential as she chases a dream that might free her but break her heart. All the plot lines will close around her college plans, the threats in her life, her broken heart that never gives up.
I'd read another book by this author (Tiger Lily), so I was more than happy to try a new tale. Especially when it's so real, emotionally complex and beautifully sensual. You won't be disappointed if you give it a chance.
Piper is just like a lot of us…living day to day and just going through the motions. However, she’s not really living and actually participating in her life. She may as well be a voyeur of her own journey. Until she meets Brody and Seren. Brody is accompanying Seren on a cross-country trip marking things off her bucket list as they go. She convinces them to allow her to join them on this adventure to document everything for Seren’s group, the Biker Babes. They are a free-spirited group of women who are also in remission from cancer. Can this bunch of strangers show Piper how to live and enjoy each day as it comes? Sometimes, you have to suffer some heartbreak in order to truly appreciate love.
I love the writing style of Amelie Duncan. She provides great imagery of every aspect of the storyline from the characters all the way to their surroundings. As for the hotness factor, off the charts! [I’ll give a little hint for a smoking one, potluck dinner and “run”.] Holy wow!
This story does have a cliffhanger ending so be prepared to wait for more. I give Piper Dreams 4 halos.

OMG you didn’t just leave me with that Cliffhanger! Ugh! Groan! Cry!
First off I have to tell Amelie S. Duncan that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Piper Dreams! You can ask my husband how many times I moved out of my chair since I started reading this book. I think 3 times just for potty breaks and lunch! I read this book straight through and even though I really do have a lot to do today I couldn’t because I was glued to my chair reading!
Amelie S. Duncan, girl you can write a HOT & SEXY book! I love Brody (Broderick Whitehurst) & Piper Rowe. Oh and I really need to read more of Serendipity please! What a great story! Oh and please tell I don’t have to wait too long until Part 2.
Piper Dreams was gifted to me for an honest review and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. 5++++++ Stars! But, I also bought this book. I loved this book and this author!
This is the first book that I have read by this author. I was given this book as an ARC. I was not sure what I would find when I read this book. I knew that it was only the first of three parts. That normally scares people off and not me. I love series and trilogies. I am a lover of books. This is about Piper Rowe and she wants to follow in her father's footsteps. She wants to be come a journalist. That is how she meets Brody Whitehurst. She is looks for adventure and he is looks for an escape from his past. They are trying to fight the attraction and they get to know each other on a more personal level with makes the story a rich one. Nothing like most romance story.
Love, loss, finding oneself, experiencing life. All this and more in this coming of age saga. Piper covets a position as one of her professors chosen but being perfect in book smarts doesn't mean you are qualified to doing the job. When she is challenged to go out and ear some real life experience things change for her. Lots changes for her that summer, including getting her heartbroken by Brody. Brody on the other hand is a free spirit biker that has made some promises. These promises don't include Piper when things change. What follows is a good story that pulls at the heart strings and ends in a cliff hanger. Who knows what can happen but it hasn't happened yet. Looking forward to more from this new writer.
First time reading this author and wow! I feel in love with Seren, Brody and Piper. The story pulls you in and although my heart breaks for each of them you also see the strength in each character as well. This was so well written and it makes you realize that life is short and you should live your life to the fullest. It definitely has the brooding hot male and panty melting moments but hold on to your heart. Yes this book stops on a sad note so how gotta check out the next book. I promise this is worth the read!
I really enjoyed the way in which the author dealt with each of the various individuals' approach to dealing with their condition, and how they interacted with each other.
I also felt that the way the relationship between Brodie and Piper developed was one of the real strengths of the story. There was a palpable connection between them, which really drew me in.
That said, there were parts of the overall story where it just felt like I wasn't getting the whole picture; as if there was something missing.
Overall however, this was, even with that ending, a gratifying read.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Amélie S. Duncan's "Piper Dreams: Dream it, Seize it, Live it." is the first book in her new Dreams series. Duncan has done it again! Another amazing series opener. I love the characters! When she said this new series was going to be more New Adult, I was a little worried because NA is usually not my thing, but this definitely leans more toward the Contemporary Romance side (wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean, know what I mean?). As usual, the sexy scenes are hawt hawt! I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. I really struggled to connect to the character's or the storyline.
I will try again at some point. My mum is currently battling breast cancer so without disrespecting the Author or her works. I think I just wasn't in the right mind frame given the subject matter.

Never heard of this author before but I'm glad I found this one I want you to know that you did a wonderful job with this book, and I look forward to reading more of your work,Your characters are really believable, and I enjoyed everyone of them.I look forward to reading the next book .
This was such a great start to the series and it left me wanting more. The author is very talented and you are drawn in to the story from the beginning. I am looking forward to the next instalment and hope that Piper and Brody reconnect quickly!!
This story may be about Piper's dreams but all the characters are beautifully written and will hold a place in your heart. The love that is shared between everyone in the story is awe inspiring. This is a beautiful story of being a survivor and finding one's self.
I loved this book so much that I began reading it in the early evening one night then went to bed. I couldn't put the book down and read it until I saw that the clock read 3:30 AM. I was crazy about this book and book 2. Can't wait for Book 3 to come out!
The heroine was annoying & naive. The story was a little too cheesy for me. Falling in love w/ someone in only one week & willing to drop everything for the other person, IMO shows how immature & stupid you are. Ridiculous. I'm undecided of reading the next book.
This was an ARC for review and I loved it! I was so happy that I took the time and get a break and read something fresh and new! I loved the book! Cant wait for more!!
