Halloween is coming and everyone knows what that means: costume party! For Brooklyn Prescott, the best thing about being the new school liaison was supposed to be planning the Halloween dance. Who doesn't want to escape herself, even if it's just for one night? But The Rosewood School for Academic Excellence has banned costumes and now Brooklyn's faced with the possibility of her first event being a total flop. Not to mention that she's planning the dance with Dave, the sexy and neglected boyfriend of her roommate, Emmie. Awkward!

It's not like planning the dance is her only concern either. On top of classes she's got equestrian team practice, and Coach Fleming has been acting very oddly. Talked into sneaking out to collect some intel with her friends, Brooklyn may have stumbled onto a huge, juicy secret that could involve the coach in a potentially career-ending scandal. And then there's Jared, who seemed to be into her, but has suddenly disappeared without a trace - not even a text message.

Things at Rosewood are getting complicated for Brooklyn, just as she's starting to fit in. The more she tries to uncover the secrets surrounding her, the more she realizes that her friends and even the faculty are all wearing masks. Does she dare look underneath them? Or does she put on one of her own?

Masquerade is the second installment of The Rosewoods, an exciting new Young Adult series for readers who love fun, flirty love stories.

Another addicting read full of teenage drama!

The very worst thing is finding a series like this, listening to the first two on audio, and realizing NONE of the other 8 books are audio books. Ugh! I guess I’ll have to make time to ‘read’ them soon, I’m dying and to know what happens!

Read this in half a day what more can I say other than I'm hooked now. The premise of these books is weak based mostly about the love lives of teenage boarding girls and boys schools. Why am I addicted then because I really want to know what happens to these character's. Even though this out of my normal reading box I really did enjoy reading this book. Will defiantly be continuing with this series...

Ok, omg!!!! This author is quickly becoming one of my favourites; I read the first book in this series in a day and couldn't wait to read this one, now that I've finished this one I've instantly bought book 2.5 off amazon.

Brooklyn's love life in this book is really quite confusing (for her)- I on the other hand loved it, complications are what I live on. So 3 parts of the love life of Brooklyn:
Part 1- Brooklyn and Jared now in a casual relationship- the see each other, hold hands and are really quite cute. But Jared gets called to Tokyo for something work related; Tokyo/America = massive time difference= less communication.
Part 2- Brooklyn and Brady (aka at least in my head B team- I like Jared) pretty much same as the first book- are meant to be together but stuff in the way, pining on both parts, jealously on his, and a very hot kids.
Part 3- Brooklyn and Dave- Dave is still Emmie's boyfriend but is very distant in this book, there is the 'wrong bed accident', which confuses both Brooklyn and Dave and leaves them both wondering about the possibility of a relationship between them.

The girls are pretty much very close in this book with the exceptions of Emmie being distant with Dave and Brooklyn regarding this issue and Kaylee being insecure about Dylan. But they are all pretty much focused on the big dance Brooklyn is organising with Dave in her new role as events coordinator.

The storyline is brilliantly paced introducing new obstacles and confusion into Brooklyn's life at exactly the right time which turned me into the 'one more chapter monster' and kept me reading until the very early hours of the morning.

The storyline is one of those which never fail to entertain me bringing in numerous character developments and complications in love. It left me wondering and wanting to find out who our main character is going to end up with in the end- which I very much hope won't be for at least another 2 books.

I'm totally Team Brady!

If you haven't read book one in The Rosewoods series, go read it first! This review will contain spoilers for the first book.

Masquerade ends just where Taking the Reins left off, with Brooklyn crushing hard on Will/Dave. She discovered at last week's school dance that her crush Will and Emmy's boyfriend Dave are the same person, but it's not so easy to turn off her feelings for him. Brooklyn's new duties as school liaison force her to meet with Dave often, keeping temptation within arm's reach. Complicating matters, she also has a connection with her riding coach Brady and child star Jared.

This book is a clean read that doesn't end on a cliffhanger. There is a teaser twist in the epilogue, but it's not a cliffhanger. Brooklyn is still delightfully boy crazy, but it's endearing and takes me back to the times in high school when exchanging a smile in the hallway could have me swooning over a guy for weeks. She swivels from boy to boy within minutes, in one scene she's literally talking to one crush on the phone about her second crush, while thinking about the third. She shares a connection with each of them, and it's obvious why each guy likes her as she becomes more familiar with the school and starts to come into her own.

The narration was really well done, Ann Marie Gideon's voice is a spot on match for my mental image of Brooklyn. She performs male and female voices, and they're well done. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

I'd 100% recommend this book to both teens and adults. It was a great light-hearted read that had me reminiscing about high school. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be off polishing my Team Brady badge!

This series is turning out to be quite a fun series for young adult readers. Myself, as an adult, I am basically flying through these books, but they are a fun reminder of what it was like to be a teen and discovering love and lasting friendships. Brooklyn is an easy character to identify with, other than the situation of security and secrecy with her parents. The other girls at Rosewood are equally dynamic, but I can see why the author chose Brooklyn as her main character to follow. Some of the revelations are predictable as an adult, but perhaps as a teen reading this series they are more shocking. I am looking foward to reading more, as it is a fun quick read.

Masquerade is the 2nd book of Rosewoods series.
In this book Brooklyn starts to do her job as school liaisons. The first assignment for her is to organize the Halloween dance.
Halloween is obviously about costumes. But too bad in Rosewoods Academy there's no such thing. They are not allowed to wear costumes.
So Brooklyn has to think about the alternative themes to make this event successful but not boring.
And she got an idea to make a masquerade ball.

description
description

Just like the previous book, this book is fun to read. Brooklyn is still surrounded by 3 hot Westwoods guys and each of them made her confuse.

Brady, the stable boy who is also her coach keeps telling her that they can't be together, yet he also keeps being jealous anytime she is with another guy.
And Brooklyn found a mysterious secret between Brady and the dean.

Dave, Brooklyn's roommate's boyfriend who is apparently also a school liaisons from Westwoods Academy. Since Dave and Brooklyn are school liaisons, so they work together and meet more often for Halloween dance plan. Ever since the first day they met and flirting each other Brooklyn still has a thing for Dave. And it seems like Dave also feels the same way towards her. But they aware that they can't be together, obviously because Dave is her roommate's boyfriend.
Until Dave made an 'incident' that makes everything between them become more awkward.

And then this former child actor, Jared. He made good moves to approach Brooklyn.
They texting each other, even had a phone date. Brooklyn keeps telling herself that Jared is the one for her because there's no way she can be with Dave or Brady.

And in the Masquerade ball...

description
description

Brady with ski mask keeps staring at Brooklyn because she dances with other guy. Dave told him to don't stare at Brooklyn that way because now Brooklyn is dating with Jared. But actually Brooklyn herself still doesn't know if both of them are officially dating. Brady's jealous.

....but then they're kissing

description
description

This is my favourite part of this book らぶ1
Because I ship Brooklyn with Brady ラブ

But what will happen to them? Will they be together? Read this book! かお2

And oh! Jared went to Tokyo for his Hollywood thingy event. And this one makes me happy too 東京タワー 日の丸 日本 国旗

The funniest part of this book for me is when Jared just back from Tokyo and wears Hello Kitty mask to the masquerade ball. OMG I can't imagine that big and tall Jared wearing Hello Kitty mask hahaha
Does he look like this? XD
description

And he gave Brooklyn a surprise gift from Tokyo; Hello Kitty underwear LOL
description

In this book everything's getting complicated. The other characters' problem is also revealed. Emmie and her unknown problems with Dave that makes Dave so confuse. Kaylee that keeps refusing to go to the dance events. Celia with her grade problems and finally meets new guy. And Chelly that always confident and surrounded by many guys. This is what makes this book is not boring.

Really enjoyed reading this book. I smiled, laughed, and almost cried cried in some part too.
Katrina Abbott seems so good at making us curious. Because the story is unpredictable but in a good way.
Still hoping for more Brooklyn and Brady moment in the next book てへ☆

Well worth your time

This is a well written book, funny and romantic for young hearts. Best is to start with the first book in the series but you are provided with enough references and short explanations to get along anyway. The book's have a similar feel to them as "The Keatyn chronicles" by Jillian Dodd.

Life in an all girls school should be about lessons and activities, not boys and relationships.
However, it seems human nature to need that social and physical connection to the opposite sex.
So the dances are a way to alleviate that need, but really, all day, most days people wear masks, to hide their true feelings and personality.

A really good second book The Rosewoods series. Brooklyn is starting to fit in at her new school and as a community service requirement for the school, she is the new activities liaison. She's working with Dave, her first crush at the school, who's also her roommate's boyfriend (umm, yeah - a little uncomfortable). Dave is the liaison from the boys' school Westwoods Academy. They're planning the Fall dance between the schools and she really needs for it to be a success.
If that wasn't keeping her busy enough, she also has her equestrian lessons with her smoking hot Olympian coach, Brady (her second, and real crush) who is a student at Westwoods, but also her instructor. So as much attraction as they might feel for each other, they just can't be together because he is part of the faculty at her school.
Then there's Jared, aka Abe. A ridiculously hot child actor, also a Westwoods student, who she also has feeling for (third crush & potential boyfriend). But when he disappears without a word, what's she to think? She wants to enjoy all her had work on the dance with Jared, but he's in Tokyo.
Then Dave makes a completely unexpected move on her, and Brady keeps admitting his feelings for her and gives her a mind-blowing kiss in secret... What's the "new girl" to do?
Loving this series! Can't wait to read more about Brooklyn and her boy troubles. Lol! Must be rough!

*Thanks to the author who provided me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.*

In this next installment of The Rosewoods series, Brooklyn Prescott finally finds herself as a part of the Rosewoods girls. Now that she has found a place for herself, she finally feels content and wanted. Along with finding true friends, she also deals with the many men in her life whom still include Will, Emmie's boyfriend; Jared, Will's roommate; and Brady, her Equestrian coach. Many events occur which have Brooklyn questioning her honesty with her friends.

Oh my goodness. This book was great; I thorougly enjoyed every moment of the second book to this series. I was very determined to finish reading even though I had an early morning and I couldn't sleep until I found out what had happened between Brooklyn and the men in her life. I liked how the pace went in this story; it moved at a very nice pace and the story didn't have any pauses or filters to it. The story was in a way amusing as well as very intense. Even though it was filled with issues that are typical of teenagers, they weren't such boring, dull, and shallow issues. They were actually interesting enough to read more about. I actually likde Brooklyn's interactions with all of the characters and how the other characters reciprocated towards her responses. Her interactions with the boys that are interested in her were very amusing and also intriguing. I'm pretty sure I said this in my review of the first book, but I'll reiterate it again; the boys whom are interested in Brooklyn are all unique in their own way. Will, is still a bit of a question mark due to the fact that he is one of Brooklyn's best friend's boyfriend; however, what happens between them both was not anything that I was expecting. I was laying in bed, reading and all of a sudden :O, my jaw just dropped and it was a little exciting as well.

There is still also Jared; however, he wasn't in the story as much. He is still such a sweetheart though, I enjoyed his presence in this book a lot even though he wasn't really there physically for Brooklyn. Finally, there is Brady. I really don't have any words for Brady. I just love him so much; if he wasn't just a character in a story; I would date him myself; Haha! He's so intense and full of angst for Brooklyn, it's amazing. I feel like he's just so real of a person and he excites me even for a character in a story. Team Brady all the way, unless something major happens in the next book, I am Team Brady all the way.

Overall, everything about this story was enjoyable; from the plot to the characters. It's a very enjoyable YA/NA read and I really can't wait for the next book in the series. Thanks again to Katrina for allowing me to read and review this book. I would gladly read and review the next book if necessary; thank you again.

Brooklyn is starting to get used to living the Rosewood life and it continues with her adventures with her friends and the guys.

I'm really a not so fan of love triangles and this one isn't even a triangle but like a square. The focus is more with Brooklyn's relationship with Brady, Dave, and Jared. It may sound simple but it gets complicated since:

Brady is someone she has common interest but at the same time someone she can't have even if their feelings kind of reciprocates.

Dave is the first guy she has a crush on except his is a relationship but well there's an incident that made their relationship more complicated and while she wanted to forget about it Dave can't. At the same time later, Dave was dumped, and the incident made him realized something.

Abe/ Jared someone who's added to the mix and someone she's been dating lately and no problems like the other too.

I kind of disliked the feelings of Brooklyn involving these three. She has feelings for all three guys in her perspective and is having a difficulty controlling whom she really likes even if the two of them is someone she couldn't possibly be in a relationship.

I feel like I'm reading a reverse harem (which normally I enjoy but only in anime) but currently in this situation not so much. Although I do understand her predicament that she is experiencing some difficulty with this three guys not to mention she might ruin one's career and the other, her friendship with Emmie.

Like Taking the Reins I find the ending abrupt I was like, "It was getting to the good part but no!!! It ended at that. Why? Oh, why?".

Well, I do know who I'm rooting for but even I can't predict who she's going to end up with. I also wanted to know more about Emmie's attitude. She's been pissing me off lately. I pity Kaylee and I can't wait to read her book.

But seriously, I need to find out what happened when Jared entered the room. I can't wait to read that conversation.

My Review: So this series is typical teenage hormonal, love triangle to the extreme, yet it has totally captivated me. I am literally gobbling this series down and I just can't stand to stop reading it. I adore all the characters, they all have great qualities and I honestly can't say that I dislike any of them. Abbott definitely managed to capture me with this series, I will be downloading all the rest of the books out as soon as possible!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in The Rosewoods series. I loved the first book so I had high hopes for this one. For the most part, it did live up to my expectations. The only real criticism I have is how annoying a few of the characters got (me being picky, not the fault of the author. I'm just easily irritated). For example, Kaylee really grated on me due to her negativity throughout the whole book, hopefully in one of the other books we find out why she is like this. Brooklyn, basically the same reason that she annoyed me in the first book, her inability to say no to boys. When Dave got into bed with her, she should have told him it was her and she shouldn't have kept it a secret from Emmie.
I'm now in a huge dilemma about who I want Brooklyn to be with! I loved her with Brady, I still do, but Jared really melted my heart in this book and I'm happy that they got together in the end, I am still kind of hoping something else will happen with Brady (if she's not with Jared anymore). I found it cute and funny when Jared bought her a present back from Tokyo, although after she had seen him with the Hello Kitty mask on, I guessed what her present was going to be! Put their private jokes together and you get Hello Kitty underwear! I loved this book just as much as the first one and will definitely be continuing with the series, I honestly cannot wait to read the next one and all the novellas that come with it! 4.5/5 stars again!

In book 2 of The Rosewoods series, Brooklyn Prescott finally finds herself as a part of the Rosewoods girls and as result is happy and secure. She is the Rosewood Academy's School Liason which puts her in the position to deal with Westwood Boys academy's Liaison quite a bit. Along with finding true friends, she also deals with the many boys in her life who got introduced to in book 1: Dave (AKA-Will), Emmie's boyfriend who clearly is off limits to Brooklyn but as we know -- they had a connection in book 1 and then are thrown together in this book as school liaison's team planning the school dances - things get tricky with this relationship and was my least fav storyline; Jared (Abe), Dave's roommate, who is a total sweetheart and Brooklyn starts dating him in this book; and finally Brady, Brooklyn's Equestrian coach, who due to him being a Coach at the school is off limits but they in my opinion have the strongest connection. So its a love square. I plus a lot of other readers may not love love triangles or squares but in this case its not a huge focus and you will definitely be rooting for just one of them -- totally Team Brady over here! The book does continue on from right where book 1 leaves us but does leave us with a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end!

What a great continuation of The Rosewoods! Another great and refreshing read, albeit too short!!! This one takes a step up on the intensity meter from the first book - a love square? One girl trying to decide between 3 guys? Anyway, a love triangle/square and plenty of deception, secrets, and suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Not to mention a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end of the book. Commmmeeee on Katrina, my heart can't take this!! I need answers!!

As with all series, not every issue is cleared up by the end of the book so we're still left with plenty of questions. I can't wait for the next installment! Once again, Katrina's writing is so superb that I forget that I'm reading about 17 year olds! The series and its content are issues that people can have at any age -- trying to fit in at a new place, juggling a busy schedule, love triangles (or square in this case), dealing with people's secrets and deception.

Same as last time, my only gripe is the length of the book. Love these stories so much and so sad that I'm done in the blink of an eye.

Yet again, I am in love with the story. I actually thought that I would write this review about next week, but I couldn't resist reading this book and finished it, to my dislike. The dose of drama is just perfect, and yet again, we learn a little bit about all the different characters! Although I wished the story was a bit more focused on the actual ball and not the preparation, I still think it was super cute. Katrina does a really good job with making us ask ourselves what it going to happen next. Some things are so predictable, some things may seem predictable. There are many parts where you get suspicious of what's happening. Although the story kind of repeats itself from the first book, it still has it's special traits. All the characters are so well thought of, and the whole book reminds me of those typical chick flicks, only way better!
I don't really know what else to say, other than that I recommend everyone who likes these types of book to go and read it! It is such an easy and fast read. Btw, TEAM BRADY ALL THE WAY!

First thanks to the author for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book picks up right where the first one ended and continues the journey of Brooklyn at Rosewood Academy. It’s not a very long book but I enjoyed the progression of Brooklyn and how she begins to find herself. She’s still young and she’s trying to find who she is. She always wants to please everybody and do the right things but she slowly understand that you can’t always make everybody happy; unless you’re willing to sacrifice you own happiness. Even though it was filled with issues that are typical of teenagers, they weren't dull or shallow issues. They were actually interesting enough to read more about. Her interactions with the boys that are interested in her were very amusing and also intriguing. For the record I’m still Team Brady all the way!!

Overall, this story was really enjoyable. If you’re looking for some light and fun YA but with some substance in it give this book a chance, you won’t be disappointed!

I was fortunate enough to be able to read this straight after book one, for which I am so glad because I love these books. I'm really surprised at myself as this is not the type of thing I'd usually read.
Once again, we're navigated through the story by Brooklyn, who seems to have more boys after her than she can shake a stick at. I'm still not sure if I want her to be with Brady, Jared or, dare I say it, Dave. I think they all have great qualities. I do feel that Brooklyn has more of an affinity with Brady but maybe I just feel that way because they can't be together. Really enjoyed the plot twist regarding Brady's character although I did have a sneaking suspicion as I was reading.

This book was very enjoyable and has left me really wanting the next one. Once again, highly recommended for a quick, light hearted read.

I was super excited for this book! Right after I finished the first book in the series, I *needed* to get my hands on the second one! Unfortunately, I was overall fairly disappointed with Masquerade. The book was really cheesy and the characters said things that were supposed to be commonly-used slang, but really failed...I love how Abbott develops her characters. She makes them relatable and they continue to improve as the series progresses. I found myself extremely torn in the love whatever-it’s-called because I really wanted Brooklyn to end up with each of them at different parts in the story! It definitely played with my emotions and I am looking forward to the next installment! Generally, I would recommend this series to 14 or 15 and up.

Katrina Abbott did it again, another good book and im loving how Brooklyn is developing as the school year goes on. I am still Team Brady! Anyways in this book Brooklyn is trying to plan and pull off the October dance while trying to juggle school work, practice, boys, and friends. I feel like I am one of her friends as I read the book. It was a simple and fun as we continue with Brooklyn's story. I am glad the author doesn't speed through the school year like some books I have come across. Its enjoyable to go through the stages of her time at Rosewood.

I give this book 4 stars. I still wish she would make the books longer or maybe its just me speeding through the book because I cant put it down until I finish it. I can't wait to see how she will go with Brooklyn's story and with the next one!

This was great sequel to the first book. It continues the journey of following Brooklyn. It was a quick read for me and I enjoyed the progression of Brooklyn and how she begin to find herself..There were a lot (okay, three) guys wanting Brooklyn's attention:
-Brady, who I was a fan of him and Brooklyn since the start and wish they would get together already, even though they can't.

-Dave, who Brooklyn had a crush on, but who seems to have feelings for her.

-Jared or Abe, who Brooklyn seems to like, because she is thinking about someone else and who is dating.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

How intense is Brady??

I’m literally obsessed with this series. Usually I have to take a break between each book in a series with another book, but I’ve read these first two in ~12 hours, and it only took that long because I went to bed last night 😹😹

Maybe because of how deeply I relate to Brooklyn based on very similar life experiences, home and backstory wise, but I can’t get enough!
