Warlock Academy

Rate this book
It was only a week ago that William packed his bags for Oxford when a letter appeared in front of him in a blaze of purple fire before slowly descending like a feather riding the wind. He had plans to work in politics, to make the world a better place, to put all those top grades from high school to good use but none of that mattered to him anymore. William told everyone that he was off to Harvard instead, knowing that his British parents wouldn't make the journey to visit him, and he headed for the portal disclosed to him in the letter.

Magic was real and William had a chance to spend the next three years studying it. He couldn't let that opportunity pass him by, even if it meant giving up on what was surely a carved out future for the overachieving eighteen-year-old.

His fingers clutched the crumpled letter in his pocket as he began to tug, fighting the tightness of his jacket to free himself so that he could see which hall he belonged to. He yanked so hard that his hand flew back, ricocheting outwards until it met the person next to him.

"Sorry!" He called out in a panic, turning to apologize so fast that his glasses flung from his face and vanished into the crowd. "Dammit!" He added in a hiss of frustration, quickly tucking his wavy brown hair back behind his ears before it sprung free.

He was hardly the most graceful eighteen-year-old to have ever existed, nor did he do well in large groups that rushed around him. William preferred the quiet life, often opting for a cup of tea as he tucked himself into a blanket with his favorite book spread across his palm. He thought that Warlock Academy would be full of intellects like himself who would rather ingest wisdom than booze.

He was wrong.

There’s no doubt in my mind TC Orton has so much creativity and talent. I love the worlds he creates.

As you can tell from the title this book takes place in an academy for warlock. William, I’d say is the main character here and by making himself known on the first day rather spectacularly, it sets the tone.

There are other characters in this tale as well. A horrible bully named Jake who we pop into his head a few times.

It’s a fantastical world of very colorful characters. There was a bit of a Harry Potter feel to it.

It’s written in the omniscient POV and though I was thrust into the magic and mayhem, I hit too many walls in the writing style. Third person is okay, I usually have no trouble understanding it but I had trouble here. It was awkward at times and too often I didn’t know whose head I was in. After I’d find out I would have to go back and reread. That stilted my reading.

It was highly entertaining and exciting. Jake is really the only character I never grew to like. So, yeah, I had some issues with this but I was entertained!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little different, and that is a really good thing for me. TC Orton has created a world that not only fanscinated me, but kept me involved the entire book. Curve balls abound and the characters were very interesting. Not your usual jerks and bullies. I can't wait to see the next installment of this series. One I'm sure to enjoy!!

T.C. Orton has created an amazing new world in this book. I am highly intrigued. I've read many paranormal books over the years, and I found the world building here to be refreshing.

The story follows William, a new warlock at rhe academy. He makes an unexpected spectical of himself the first day he's there. He's a sweet guy who is looking forward to fitting in, only to find the academy is not quite what he expected. He also runs afoul of the academy's bully, Jake. While I was very sympathetic to William and wanted the best for him, the other characters were harder to get a feel for, even though the story follows Jake as well. Logan's motives toward William seem fast paced and out of nowhere, especially after the interlude with Sebastian. Jake's past seems to hold clues of his behavior, but those details are not included here. Hopefully, the next installment will give more insight into Jake and his past beyond the bullying, unfeeling behavior in this book.

I had a bit of a hard time getting into the writing style however. Each chapter gives either Willaim's or Jake's perspective and inner thoughts. This format works well for this story, but I was thrown initially by the occasional inner thoughts of other characters intermingled within. The book does end without resolution of most of the story's conflicts. I am looking forward to reading the next one to see where the story goes from here.

I like the characters and the story is good but, the POV does jump around so I was confused on who's thoughts were being expressed. Will read book two since there is a big cliff and too many questions.

This is the third book in the series and it continues in the Omega Moon Universe.
This is the story of a young warlock William, who is almost painfully shy, awkward and introverted. He is just starting his first year at the Warlock Academy and knows almost nothing about living amongst other young warlocks and socializing with them. He’s such a sweet naïve young man that I instantly loved him. He begins to have his misadventures right away in this book and they aren’t just little mishaps. No, they are great big accidents and as he is busy trying to find his way (literally and figuratively) he ends up getting hurt by the school bully. Seriously hurt, coma hurt. Although once he wakes and begins his recovery, you can tell that it had an impact on the kind of person he is. He starts to come out of his shell, he is more outgoing, he finds that he has friends and realizes that he likes other guys. One other guy in particular. Logan, the leader of the fraternity.

I knew right away that I was going to like Logan. He has a scene right away at the beginning of the story that was super steamy and I thought it may set the tone for his character, but as soon as William gets on his radar he seems to become a person that wants more than just casual.
The two begin a relationship that was sweet to watch develop. They move along at a good pace while the secondary characters have some adventures of their own. This author can write sex! Some of the best sex scenes I’ve read in a really long time. He’s good, I promise.
Once again, T.C. Orton throws a few surprises in for us and you don’t quite see it happening until BAM! I was like “How did that just happen?” I love it when the story throws a curve ball at you and doesn’t just plod along without anything being remarkable at all.
I liked this story, it sets up a great base for the characters to build upon in future stories. It runs about the same length as the first book in the series Omega Moon, so it’s not a really long read, but is a nice length for a lazy afternoon. The Omega Moon Universe continues to grow and is given to us in great detail. I can picture exactly what the Academy must look like even though it is complex. This book has a HEA, a cliffhanger and the set up for more to come. I really can’t wait.

Rosalie's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

The third in the series, Warlock Academy was about as steamy as they come! From the opening scene with Logan, I was absolutely hooked! William, coming in as a freshman in the academy, was as dreamy as he was nerdy. Following Jake, Sebastian, William, and Logan through this ride was a fun one! I'm not usually a paranormal reader (LOVE Harry Potter so this spin on a magical book with the steamy scenes with sexy guys was wonderful!). There were twists and turns almost every which you turned in this book. Once you thought you had everything figured out, something would throw you for a loop.

I loved the writing style in this book. Third person omniscient is probably one of my favorite styles. I also loved that the point of view changed with the characters, so we knew how they all felt and what they were all thinking. It really pulled me into the book QUICK!

Not sure how I feel about this book. I enjoyed most of the story but didn't care for this authors writing style (he jumped around to much for me). Also, it ended in a cliff-hanger and I have no clue if this story will be continued. Overall I just feel annoyed. If another one comes out I'll probably read it because the plot isn't bad but I'm hope the writing is smoother (and the story is finished).

Happy Reading Lynz!

I enjoyed the book quite a bit except the author really needs to take a "whilst" break. Several times it showed up 3+ times on a page with at least 50% of the usage being superflous (first page of chapter 8 being a prime example). I want to read the next book and perhaps more of their work but by the end of this one, I was flinching at every "whilst."

I was given this book in return for an honest review. And honestly, I'm not sure if I liked it or not. It did not seem to have a plot, just things that happened. I was never sure what direction it was going in or what the book wanted to be. The characters were not developed at all and were so one dimensional that I could not really care for any of them. The romance, if you can even call it that, was not romantic or intriguing at all. I never felt like the characters really cared for one another, and it seemed as if Logan may have been using Will for some unknown purpose as it was hinted he was still sleeping with Sebastian, but Will was to stupid to realize it. I have not read the other books in this series. I love paranormal stories and really wanted to like this, but after reading it, I was left thinking "that's it?"

To say this story started out with a bang would be an understatement. I like when a book jumps right into the thick of things. My attention was captured right away and held throughout the book. Logan lit up the prologue. I was really looking forward to more scenes like that. William is one of those characters that I want to take under my wing to protect. And Jake. Oh, Jake. He is not the kind of guy I find myself drawn to but something about him made me want him to take over the whole book. I wanted more of him. He was mean and nasty and yet showed hints that he could be a good person. I loved his reactions when thoughts of William invaded his mind. He's a great character and I can't wait to see what the series has in store for him. I really hope it's more of him and William!

I'm having mixed feelings about this book. The book is supposed to be told from Jake's and Will's POV but we have the thoughts of others sprinkled throughout which gets confusing. I would have preferred if the author would have let us get to know Jake and Will more, I would have liked to know more about their connection and what it meant. I was really intrigued by Jake and would love to know more about his background, family and their history. I'm okay with cliffhangers but this book left everything up in the air we got no answers at all at the end. I will read the next book because I'm interested in the outcome.

When reading a book by this author, you get completely sucked into a new dimension. He has a way of creating stories unlike anyone else and they are in a category all to themselves. Gay warlocks are hot!! I found myself wanting to be wisked away to the Warlock Academy so I could be part of the shenanigans. I am now dying to read the next book.

The story was pretty short resulting in the story developing rather quickly. There was pretty much no plot but the sex scenes (the two or three that was presented) were pretty hot. I'm not sure i was keen on the characters although I have to admit i was curious what would become of Jake and whether or not Sebastian plan would backfire on him.

Great book

This was a very fast read, but well worth it. I loved William and how the book ended. I am cant wait to read more by this author. I love that this had the two story lines going at once, and that they came together at times as well. I wish there was more of a here is what happened at the end rather than just the ending.

I like the author's writing style. It's about William discovering a new lifestyle and experiences. Only bad part is the cliffhanger ending so there will be another book following.

Not bad

This book was just okay for me. I liked the idea but not the story as much. Don't think I will read the sequel.
