Christopher Cartwright writes spellbinding mysteries and suspense novels. Often with a backdrop of ocean adventure. Born in 1983, he has a background as a paramedic, and is an avid sailor and SCUBA diver.

He holds degrees in paramedics, nursing and emergency management.

Chris currently lives in Sydney with his wife and two children.

Little politics and sci-fi, it was a good read. Started little slow for me, but it was really engaging page turner to the end. Will be reading the next book in this series.

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I loved this book best so far in the series! Although it has sci-fi which I love, I had to stretch my imagination a bit but it was still good. That is what books are for anyway, to escape. I loved the premise of the story which I am not telling or it will spoil everything. Once you read it you will see why. Rogue waves are fascinating and horrifying at the same time, I guess that is what really draws me to this also.
The narrator is great for the Sam Reilly novels, a slightly gruff voice that you would expect a manly man to be, lol. He surprises me when he is able to do the females so well.

A well-crafted thriller with frightening implications. The basic premise is a combination of nano technology meeting single cell technology. I’ve always been interested in rogue waves. They rise without warning and often sink vessels caught in their paths. So when I noticed that there was a Sam Reilly novel with this title I had to take a look. There are two mysteries here (in addition to the Dirk Pitt like historical mystery). On the one hand, who killed Sam’s old friend when he refused to sign onto a deal which would make him rich in exchange for burying his discovery of a new environmentally friendly energy source that could replace fossil fuels. The other is, how the bad guys were able to use a rogue wave as the murder weapon.

This is a fun novel. There’s a little bit of science fiction technology involved, but mostly it’s a tense and exciting adventure on (and beneath) the high seas. As Sam and his team come closer to the truth, it becomes apparent that a global catastrophe is about to occur and that a powerful figure in the U.S. government is responsible for the danger. There’s a sea full of tension in this one.

Everything you wanted to know about rogue waves and plankton but was afraid to ask! In this tale, Sam Reilly is asked to look into the murder of an old friend. The friend, Luke Eldritch had developed a new power source which would revolutionize the fuel industry. He and his scientist partners were offered a large sum of money for the patents but refused. You can imagine what happened next. The method of his demise so fascinated Sam that he agreed to look into the matter. The fatal weapon was a one-hundred-foot rogue wave that destroyed the yacht as he participated in a boat race off the Bimini Islands in the Bahamas. Where this rogue wave came from and how it was directed is the meat of the story. There are more waves to come and the plot definitely thickens. I enjoy the bit of education one gets in the Sam Reilly novels. Whatever task or mission Sam undertakes, you become part of the story and clearly understand what is going on. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wow! Christopher Cartwright has done it again. Rogue Wave is an amazing book, although the first half of the book or so is a little slower than the previous books in the series. Once the reader learns what is actually going on and events fall into place, one realizes how incredibly brilliant this author is.

I love how I feel like I've learned so much by the time I finish one of these novels. There is a huge amount of science and technology that I have no experience with in each of these novels and I truly feel like I understand how it works once I've read the extremely detailed descriptions.

Audio quality is spot on as always.

Overall great book and one of my favorite authors! Can't wait to listen to the next one!

This is the most imaginative story in the Sam Reilly series. A team of scientists unintentionally creates a monster when nanoparticles are used to seed phosphorescent algae. The suspense is extreme as danger threatens underwater, on water, and in the air. A part of the Atlantic called the Bimini Road becomes the source of waves large enough to destroy the largest supertankers. The Bimini Road itself has been the subject of Sam's historical interest because he has clues it was used by an ancient people to launch pirate attacks on early commercial vessels. People are bot who they seem, and strange forces in action produce a heart-pounding thriller.

I am really enjoying this series by Christopher Cartwright. This book is a standalone listen and incorporates science with mystery, action, espionage and politics. The premise of the rogue wave is thought provoking, along with the science written behind it. I so enjoy the character of Sam Reilly. He is larger than life like an action hero. I was pulled into the book from the very beginning with its imagery and original storyline. The author weaves some very unexpected twists into the book, that I did not see coming. I loved it! David Gilmore is the perfect narrator for this series. He adds the right suspense, tension, and other emotions to his performance.

I enjoyed Christopher Cartwright's writing style; easy to read, flows well. This story is full on action from the first page and it keeps going throughout, from one disastrous scenario to the next. A thrilling ride on these rogue waves that are awesome to the imagination, glowing phosperescence and gigantic coming straight for Luke, must have been terrifying. A captivating concept creating the rogue waves that fascinated me. Sam Reilly and his cohorts are constantly living on the edge and finding ways to escape. Loved it. This is my first Sam Reilly story but it won't be my last, thanks Christopher for a very pleasurable read.

This was a gripping story that takes the reader through all sorts of conspiracy theories.

The action storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat and the audio version of this book is brilliantly narrated.

I haven’t read a book in a long time that gave me a suspenseful feeling like this. Being stranded, afraid, and confused is enough for a nightmare, it add to that the sense that the phone call came from inside the house and you have a wonderfully suspenseful story! It still has all of the typical action adventure of a Sam Reilly story, but definitely one of the more unique in the series. Possibly one of the most memorable for me, even though it wasn’t focused on historical elements in the way that many of them are.

I really enjoyed this book. Fast paced writing....lots of plausible scientific plot points, minimal spelling and grammatical errors. The plot was interesting and kept me engaged. However does anyone else miss a good old fashioned "there is a beginning, middle, and then the book ends" and you are satisfied to move on to the next new story in that author's repertoire? It just seems a lot of books are like TV series nowadays.

Sam’s getting tired...

...and more fantastical, and less detailed. So a major archeological feature of the globe is “going to be” destroyed by heavy bombardment, but we’re neither witnesses to the event nor even told that it happened until it is mentioned in passing several chapters later. Lacking in (important) plot details, with more and more stereotypical characters that remain significantly underdeveloped. I think Sam and I have reached the end of our relationship.

My first read from author Christopher Cartwright. Well-written with captivating, well-developed main characters reminding one of a poor man’s Vince Flynn. It’s hard coming into a series in the middle, book #4, I’ve obviously missed much. I liked the science fiction in this story. It's always fun to have a book for entertainment on a rainy day. Since I never read this series before. This story introduced me to Sam Reilly. It turned the reader 's mind to the Bermuda Triangle with some new ideas about lost planes and ships. The adventure starts out swift and the story moves quickly into the mystery and adventure of lost ships and salvage.

SAMs father has lost some ships to a rogue wave but was it a natural occurrence that's for Sam Tom and the team to find out. It starts when a friend of SAMs is killed by yet another rogue wave. A thrilling book and the team puts themselves through plenty of drama to solve this problem. This is a must read book I recommend this for thrill seekers

Once Again, a Winner

I have to tell you how lucky I was to find this book series. I have spent my entire summer reading then, and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. A bit of history tossed in with some legends and some mystery and I have been hooked on every book. Sadly I read them a bit out of order but that’s okay. They are so great you’ll be able to catch on quick. Fantastic books from a fantastic author. Well done.

Boilerplate novel. I imagine the author cranks out very similar novels on a regular basis. Also, note that the few women in the novel are always gorgeous. No normal women here. This male wet dream only includes stunning women as side fluff floating around while a wealthy, saintly stud uncovers corruption and solves diabolical problems. Ick. The only good thing about this novel was I learned what a rogue wave is.

#1 He found a 1930's airship which crashed in the alps.
#2 He found a ancient treasure ship in outback Australia.
#3 He discovered Atlantis.
#4 Nanobots, Rogue Waves and politics. What a combination!

Wealth, ocean, science, environment, mystery, danger, and political intrigue and geniuses create a highly entertaining novel. It held my attention throughout. The scientific premises are all explained within the storyline and very educational without being dry. Very well written. This was my first read by this author, but certainly not my last!

Ok this was not my favourite book in the series because it felt like a slightly different story to normal because we were looking at nanotechnology and at times I found this a bit technical but overall regardless I love Sam and his friends and so really enjoyed this story but kind of miss his shipwrecks.
