It is very hard to rate this book. There were things I liked about it and things I didn't. I'm not even sure what genre it really fits into. There was talk of God, characters praying and having faith but it isn't christian fiction as the characters are Catholic and there were some things and words that probably would not have been in it if that were the case. However, it was pretty clean. I thought the story was sweet and really touched my heart. I liked Erin, Theo, and Patrick, as well as most of the other characters. I really didn't like Frankie at first, but his story ended up being really sweet. This book had a bit of a twist on the love triangle storyline and I liked it. I enjoyed the Irish phrases and customs and the descriptions were very clear.

For what I did't like: I think this book really needed some polishing. It felt like there were so many unnecessary commas. The POVs switched between people without warning which in the beginning caused confusion. Another issue was where the Irish people and the American people didn't feel distinct from each other. The Irish definitely felt Irish, but Theo, who was American, a couple of times said or thought words that Americans don't really say. Also, up until around the 8th chapter I wasn't sure when this book took place, so I feel like the author could have done more to help the reader feel the time period. The cover didn't help because to me the people look very modern (it is a beautiful cover though).

I don't mean to be nitpicky. It was a sweet story of a young couple being separated by life, living their lives, and finding each other again. I just think it needed some polishing.
