1.5 Not Quite For Me Stars

This book never really connected for me. The beginning was interesting and compelling, the attack Lindsey suffered and the recovery after the things that would have changed, and the way she fought back after the attack had a lot of interesting potential.

Maverick is a fighter pilot, so he should be cocky and self assured, able to take care of himself, to go after what he wants.

There was a lot of potential...and it went nowhere. These people could have been anyone. There was nothing about either of them to set them apart from anyone else. He could have been an accountant for all his job played into the story. She could have been one as well...and heck, if they had both been accountants in the same office, this would have been more interesting.

The pacing and the characterization also suffered for this...it was hard to really invest in the story as it plodded along and there was nothing about either character who kept me reading. I wanted more of them in the story, not more of the one dimensional people I spent the book with.

I did finish this book, but I am not able to recommend it.

Fantasy filler with lack of substance and hero throws around "like a girl" to insult. He's an Air Force pilot but you would never know it because it apparently takes up so very little of his time.
Heroine almost raped in beginning and then can only stand to be touched by hero who she had a one night stand with, sorry mom, dad, brothers, and bestfriend, you're not trustworthy like this guy.
Manages to play ball with Seattle Mariners and ride with a NASCAR driver on the track, the things added in this story were so c'mon man. Hero wants heroine to chair his huge PTSD charity when she has absolutely no experience doing so, we get like one scene where it is dealt with and then the ball just happens.
Fantasy stuff over solid emotion or truth. Fun for some, not for me.

Cute sweet read

Another brother bites the dust.

It was a good read. Some parts were unrealistic. If you are in the Air Force you don't have that much time off. Mav also broke his arm, but then there was no mention of it again and he didn't act like he had a cast.

Other than that great storyline. Hot sex for sure. Millionaire Prince Charming to the rescue, every girls dream.

Safety Level: Safe. No mention of other men or other women
Cliffhanger: No on the romance. Yes on the general series arc.
Ending: HEA

I really enjoyed the first book, so I was excited to read this book. The first part of the book was really compelling. I couldn't stop reading at all because I wanted to know what happened to the heroine, how she dealt with the tragedy, and how it would eventually lead her to the hero. Like the first book, the main characters had a one-night stand over a year ago, but nothing came out of it. They went their separate ways. The hero did try to pursue her, but the tragedy already happened, so the heroine was in no place to be with anyone for a while.

I second half of the book dragged. It started out really great, but the pacing slowed down significantly. I understand that it was done to show the readers the things the hero did that helped the heroine's complete recovery. However, I can't help it if I felt like it moved glacier-like. Another thing that I didn't enjoy with this book was that the conflict and the ending was anti-climactic. There wasn't much evidence that supported the hero's reluctance to commit. I mean, if he didn't intend to the relationship somewhere else other than a few hot nights and amazing dates, then he really shouldn't have started anything with the heroine at all.

I liked the heroine, but Maverick was a miss for me. I hope that the remaining two brothers will restore my faith in these Armstrong men.

For a story with a heavy subject, it was also sweet and tame. Lindsey isn't healing from an attack she suffered at her job until Maverick decides he's had enough and forces her back to the living. Having suffered his own trauma as a prisoner of war, he knows she needs constant human contact to keep her from hiding away from the world. The dates Maverick takes her on are creative and very romantic but he isn't thinking long term. He just wants her to start living again and then he will be able to move on from his attraction to her. Classic case of a man who falls in love with out knowing it happens until it's too late. It's nice seeing Coop and Stormy from the first book.

Right after I finished Turbulent Intentions I just had to jump into Turbulent Desires.

Now their crazy uncle is back at the match making and this time it's Maverick's turn to fall into love. Which of course he doesn't believe in marriage nor does he want to get married, ever. Ha, yeah... okay.

Maverick and Lindsey also happened to be a one night fling - at Stormy and Cooper's wedding. This book definitely followed the same sort of pattern. However, Lindsey and Maverick have one thing in common: PTSD. Maverick, who works for the Air Force, when he was captured and tortured and Lindsey, who is a nurse at a hospital, was attacked and almost raped one night at work.

They both have scares - mental and physical - and yet they somehow find a way to help heal each other. Plus, dogs were mentioned in this book because towards the end they both adopted two puppies. I love dogs so of course I'm 100% shipping Lindsey and Maverick has my favorite couple.

This book will take you through their ups and downs and it definitely makes you fall in love with this couple. I couldn't put this book down nor could I walk away from it. I just had to finish this book before I left work and I have a feeling I'm going to be doing the same thing tomorrow.

I can't wait to dive into the next book and see what else their crazy uncle has up his sleeves.

description

This is the second book in the Billionaire Aviators series by Melody Anne and it did not disappoint! It's also a standalone if you prefer to read them that way but I think that the book is even better if you've read the first book well, first.

The link between the two books in this series is absolutely seamless. This one picks up very shortly after the first book ended and it felt like I was meeting up with some old friends. The characters were extremely consistent - that's a big thing! Some authors seem to lose where they were with the previous books and then you pick up the next in the series and all of the sudden, the characters just don't feel the same. Not a problem here!

I can't even explain how excited I was to see that Maverick was the man of the hour for this book. I adored his character when you first met him in Turbulent Intentions. I found him to be even more captivating than I had expected. He's protective and patient and he truly wants what is best for Lindsey. Man ... Lindsey. The beginning of this book throws you into the middle of this harrowing experience that Lindsey is going through and then you're able to see how she grows and changes within the protective arms of Maverick. Talk about swoony. Holy cannoli. It doesn't hurt that Maverick is this hotshot military pilot. Doesn't hurt at all.

The story buzzes along at this great pace that leaves you wanting more. You're just surrounded by these great scheming old dudes and adorable brothers that like to poke fun at each other and an amazing sisterhood that makes you wonder if you can find a way to get adopted into this family. There wasn't even one sentence that was unnecessary - no skipping paragraphs!! I get bored easily because I find myself skipping paragraphs all too often.

Anyway, great book. Amazing book. One of my new favorite series and I can't wait to see who the next one is about but I have no doubt that it will be just as good (if not better) than this one!

My Musings

Well, this was good just not as good as the first one in this series. The conflict between the hero and the heroine seemed contrived. The dogs were a nice touch. Happy ☺reading 📚!

Growing up Lindsey Helm may not have had much but she was secure in the fact that she was loved, protected and wanted to make a difference. That pureness of heart lead her into a career as an ER nurse. It was the best of both worlds. Not only could she make a difference, she could help others while doing it. But life can turn on a dime and one tragedy filled night has left it's mark on the once confident, positive thinking Lindsey. Guilt, pain and fear have become her constant companies and her worst enemies. Turbulent Desires is the second book in the Billionaire Aviators series. The drama was so real, I felt part of the story. Maverick proved himself to be more than a pretty face. His caring manner and soft heart helped to heal a broken spirit. Maverick and Lindsey had a mountain to climb and a river to cross but along the way proved that LOVE can calm any storm and breach the toughest walls.

ahaha – welcome to matchmaking 101… why wouldn’t the stuff that worked out so well in book 1 of the Billionaire Aviators also work in the newest book by Melody Anne. I just read “Turbulent Desires” and I liked it as much as I did the first book. Also its nice to meet our old friends from the first book again. With Lindsey being the BFF to Stormy who’s story was featured in the first book, you can be sure that Maverick will not be far as Cooper is here as well.
Maverick and Lindsey have a story together – even though it is a short one and the attraction is there but it seems as if nothing would ever develop from that. And our Matchmaking friends from the first part have a hard time accepting that.
When Lindsey is facing massive problems due to an attack that nearly left her dead they see their chance to step in. Maverick is up for the challenge to try to get her back to the living even though he is not realizing that the endgame our matchmakers are planning is a little different. Because as we know Sherman he will not accept anything less than a building romance between the two.
But with the woman who cannot stand to be touched by anyone and the man that swore to never fall in love might have been a to big bite to swallow, even for that usually successful group of matchmakers

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

Turbulent desires is another in the long running series of meddling fathers and their friends finding partners for their children. I have read most of them and enjoyed them, and this was no exception.

Lindsey was subject to a brutal attack in the hospital where she worked, and a year later is still seriously limited by her fears. Living in the cabin in the garden of her best friend, Stormy and husband Cooper, she is hiding away. At their wedding she had a fling with Maverick, Cooper's brother, but has no intention of revisiting that scenario, even though he is still in her mind. When Sherman (matchmaker) decides that they should, well as a reader we know all bets are off, and sit back for the ride!

It is a lovely story of a man doing all he can to help a woman overcome her fears, and in the process find a love he cannot deny. And a woman who's body recognises that he is safe, long before her brain catches up. It makes for a fun read, with a lot of sexual chemistry, but also lots of friendship and care.

I would recommend that you read the books in order, as they follow on, but this is definitely also a story that can stand on its own.

I didn't read the first book in the series but the author does a good job of covering and catching up the readers fast.
The beginning of the story was a little slow and honestly I felt like hitting Lindsey a few times. I could see what was going to happen but the story moved way to slow for me and pulled me out of the novel several times.
The book catches readers up with those from the first book and I am sure it will happened in the next in the series as well.
Melody Anne created well developed characters that some readers will become emotionally connected. The story lines builds very slowly but there are some twist that will help keep readers connected to the story.
The authors falls on the sword of romance writing not bringing anything overly creative to the romance; A sexy beast of a man, His kiss was full of confidence and ability, Man was lethal and so on.

It works all in all just a slow book for me.

Two people dealing with a past. Maverick was a military man. No need to get tied down. Just live in the moment. When a family friend struggles with a past filled with hurt and pain, Maverick vows to help her. Can he do it without getting attached? I enjoyed find out! I enjoyed watching Maverick and Lindsey deal with their inner issues and find happiness along the way.

I gave up reading this book. I didn’t like the hero and the lack of critical distance between the implied author and the heroine and the hero’s cockyness.
Some quotes:
A sexy beast of a man
The man was lethal
His kiss was full of confidence and ability
Probably the most dangerous man she’d ever met
Maverick was the definition of the ultimate man-candy
[Hero] - I’m impossible to resist
I'm grateful to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free copy.

I received this book from net gallery for an honest review.

Wow this was an amazing read and I truly enjoyed Mav and Lindsey's story.

Lindsey's attack has left her with deep emotional scars. Her physical wounds have healed but her walls still remain. She's closed herself off from people, friends and family.

Mav has been patient with Lindsey but now he's on a mission to bring Lindsey out of the hole she's buried herself into and get her to start living life again. Easier said than done!

I really enjoyed the story. My heart broke for Lindsey: her terrible ordeal has left her damaged emotionally. I loved her feisty nature and in Mav's company, she starts to become the person she used to be. They had amazing chemistry: I'm surprised they didn't spontaneously combust just looking at each other lol. I couldn't stop laughing when the elderly couple came into the hospital - two seventy yr olds trying to have sex and giving each other a heart attack in the process lol. Mav was amazing: his care and support empowers Lindsey to take control of her life again.

A fantastic read and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I'm looking forward to the next.

I had high hopes for this book because I absolutely loved book one, but I was wrong. This is book 2 in the Aviators series and it is about Maverick and Lindsey, Stormy's best friend from book one. Lindsey and Maverick had a one night stand at Stormy's wedding (sound familiar) and a year later Lindsey is attacked at work. She was nearly killed and this experience caused her to get PTSD. Stormy and Cooper offers her place to stay and Maverick makes it his mission to show Lindsey that the world can be a beautiful place. The plot in this story was strong, loving and it was different. I feel that it was not nurtured enough to make this a great and interesting story. Melody Ann is one of my favorite authors, but this book is not her best work. I really hate to write these words, but….this book was a complete bore. I do not know what happened with these two characters, but it took me longer than normal for me to read this book because I just was not interested in the characters.

I started reading this book not realizing it was a spin off from the Anderson's stories and also the second book in a series. I loved the book! Storyline was amazing, the prologue was very very intense. Lindsey is an ER nurse and is involved in an attack, Maverick is her best friend Stormy's brother in law. They previously met at Stormy and Cooper's wedding and since then Maverick has been obsessed with her but they don't meet up again until many months later. I loved how Maverick put his attraction on the back burner in order to help her deal with her PTSD. He became the one person she felt safe around. Their story was sweet but extremely hot at times. My only thing I didn't like was Maverick always calling her sugar or sug, for me that's a turn off but with everything else great about him I could overlook it. I would also recommend reading the first book in the series because this book talks about Maverick's father's will but didn't go into any detail explanation so I'm assuming you would gain some info from the previous book.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Following a traumatic attack and the death of two colleagues at the hospital where Lindsey works a nurse, she emotionally shuts down. Maverick, her best friend's brother in law and a former one night stand of hers, wants to rescue her. He is gorgeous, charming, a player and insistent about being around her. Lindsey is very attracted to him and so tempted but she wants more than a fling. I loved the build up to their joining again. Their chemistry is off the scale and she doesn't stand a chance of resisting him. He is the perfect hero.
Really enjoyed this book as I have with other books by the same author.

I truly enjoy the reoccurring characters that this author interjects into her stories...It keeps her other stories alive, reaffirming the emotional attachment that was formed while reading her other stories. Maverick is the quintessential man, sexy hot as all get out, yet at the same time romantic and passionate, catering to Lindsey and her needs.

Everything about this story was mesmerizing...starting out in a dark place and then growing, evolving into a HEA romance that nearly made my heart sigh with its ending. Then there's the epilogue, the most gripped, hold on tight, clenched your teeth one I've ever read...there is no way I'm not reading the next book in the series.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley for my honest review.

I am a fan of this author and have read the previous books about the Anderson family so when I was offered the chance to read and review the second book in this series there was no hesitation. I very much enjoy reading a Melody Anne story. She has a terrific writing style that flows. As a reader I am typically drawn into the story right from the beginning and can't wait to see what happens. This story is no exception. The writing was tight and the story just unfolded in a way that kept me engaged and interested. I liked the characters and was rooting for their HEA. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received an ARC from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my opinion and the thoughts expressed are my own.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC of "Turbulent Desires" by Melody Anne. This book was a delightful romantic story and I would recommend it. There are other books in this series and related series with familiar characters. The two main characters have an intriguing history, and incredible chemistry. One is a confirmed bachelor who is trying to be a hero and help the heroine gain her confidence after an assault and attack. I enjoyed reading this predictable story. Of course there are pets and friends and family who share in the adventure.

I was kind of hoping this story had more to it. It was a free Goodreads giveaway for my Kindle. It was a pleasant, steamy love story between Lindsey and Mav. It reminded me of a Lifetime movie. Mav was the typical male, not wanting to commit but he was beyond typical and believable because he really did a lot for Lindsey's PTSD, he put her needs first. I haven't met too many men like that. There are more stories in this series and even though this one left me hanging, I probably won't read them.
