Kate Reid is back in this latest thriller and this time her faith will be put to the test.
When Agent Nick Scarborough’s old friend calls upon him to help locate his 12-year-old missing son, Agent Kate Reid knows this case will be different. And when it is discovered that the abductor is an ex-con who has been linked to another recent murder, Nick becomes desperate to track him down and rescue the boy before it’s too late.
It isn’t long before Kate and Agent Dwight Jameson witness Nick’s deepening personal involvement and his growing despair as the search grinds on. But it is Kate’s discovery that changes the course of the investigation, a discovery that means many more children’s lives are at stake.
Now, it will be up to her to keep Nick off his path of destruction, spiraling down as the investigation unveils horrors that he has seen far too many times before. And so the race begins, because if they can’t find the killer, then they must find his prey before he does.
Robin Mahle's latest installment in the Kate Reid series is another action-packed thriller that won't disappoint!
This is another horrifying episode of a crime involving the abduction and killing of children. Kate Reid was right in the middle of this and instrumental in capturing the evil perpetrator. The personal dynamics of the FBI team continue to evolve. Truly they pull me right into their lives and I find it difficult to put the book down. Onward!
Endangered is well written and well paced. I never felt bored reading it. Though it isn't my favorite Kate Reid novel because of the subject, I do appreciate the author not describing what happened to the kids in graphic detail...more like alluded to. I don't think I could have read it otherwise. As a parent, it all kind of freaked me out.
For those who want to know: This one has language and violence. 18+ for subject matter.
I always look forward to reading a Kate Reid story. Simply put , I know it's going to be a great read. This was another gripping book with non stop tension and the andrenaline rush. There is always running alongside Kate's personal saga, including her progress with her getting through her probation period to become a fully fledged FBI agent. It's all in the mix to make a cracking story. Fully recommended.
A fast moving story of a hunt for a killer by an FBI team. It's interspersed by more complications with Kate Reid's private live, and her boss isn't without his problems either, so there's a lot going on.It's all good in a crisply written style. There's enough information included from the previous books in the series to make this book just age good as a standalone story.
Kate has to help protect kids from a child sex offender
This book, #5 in the series. was great. They get better as they go along, full of thrills, mystery and and intrigue. Recommend this book and all the series to people would love a good suspenseful mystery book. Gave it 5 stars and it deserved it.
I enjoyed the writing style of the author, with more of an educated style. The characters are believable, serious, fun. The context believable. I would recommend the series to everyone.
It mystifies me how Robin has such an exquisite understanding of the workings of the mind of sociopaths. I'm also impressed at her in depth workings of the FBI. It makes for VERY impressive writing!
I'm reading the series and highly recommend it to anyone! So you think you know the ending? Wrong, wrong and wrong!! I am very good at guessing the ending and each time I was wrong!?
Once again Kate finds herself in the middle of a man hunt for the lowest of the low, a serial child abductor/killer. It takes a huge team to gather the clues and do the research to figure out the criminal and stop him before he can harm another child.
No attempts to varnish dire possibilities or to make excuses for fallible human judgement. Grim realities of small town complacency and naïveté well highlighted. I would have been happier without the needless interpersonal complications though!
The actions of one person, one unbelievable incident, one decision that might have been made long ago can bring so much turmoil to someone's life forever. The consequences for Kate seem to be a forever hurdle.
Exciting, scary, and so human. I loved the book. I think this the third Kate Reid book I read. The best so far. Murder-a killer of children--A love story---and the good old FBI.
Great thriller. Great series. This is definitely a five star series. I highly recommend this series . I read this book in one day because I could not put it down until I finished it . Great suspense
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author and in return I will give a far and honest review
I fell fell in love with this series whilst I was battling the dreaded flu back in the winter and I have waited not so patiently for this book for what seems like absolute months. The thing I like about Katie is how she is so relatable emotionally. Katie's character has matured a great deal in this book. In some ways I really want her and Nick to sort it out and get together and in some ways I feel that if they do it will ruin the rest of the series.
Nick is called in by his old friend to help find his missing 12 year old son, the child has been kidnapped by someone who can only be described as a sick and twisted individual and Robin does an awesome job in detailing the story without making the reader want to throw up. The story touches a part of us that we don't want to think about, the biggest fear we have as a parent is the loss of a child whether it be by illness or from the hands of another human being, you will feel the emotions of the parents in this book and you will read about one incredibly brave little girl. The reasoning behind the abductions/murders is something that I could honestly see being used in an insanity plea in a court room. We also get to see a harder side to Katie, she is coming into her own and with every book you can read how much more she in control of herself. I have a feeling it is all going to come to a head soon with Nick and his unrequited love and I can only hope that he does get the girl (but like I said at the beginning I kind of hope he doesn't lol) This story isn't to be rushed so I would recommend a glass or two of wine and a bubble bath and just relax and read. Robin has done a phenomenal job with this book and I cant wait to read more of Katie and Nicks adventures. I really liked this book , it is probably my favorite in the series thus far.
I was gifted a pre-release copy, so I thank you Robin! Kate Reid has been a favourite of mine since I discovered the series. What I like about the series is the evolution of the characters. Robin manages to make her characters so 'human' - foibles and all.
Kate has normal confusions about her job, her life, and her love-life. In this book, the missing children strike a vein with her. She is part of a team - a team that not only looks out for the victims and their families, but for each other. I liked that about them.
Without giving away the storyline, I will just say that the subject matter is difficult to think about - the abduction of children. The villain is a miserable character that you will hate. The FBI team seems to always be 2 steps behind. Is it because Nick has a personal connection to one of the victims and should step down? Is it because the villain is smarter? You'll have to read to find out - but prepare yourself for a ride.
Robin gives you a view into the emotions that our law enforcement have to deal with and how different people deal with it. The book left me with a greater appreciation for them.
Another great book, Robin - can't wait to read the next one!
This is a 7 book series and I could not wait to finish all of them. This one is book 5. Characters are strong and personable. Story line is believable, Villians are always vanquished. A must read.
